Billy G. Brumley

Billy G. Brumley, Tecumseh, died Friday in Midwest City. He was 61.

He was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Choctaw to A.M. Tye Brumley and Mary Collins Brumley. He graduated from Choctaw High School in 1956 and was at Cameron University for two years. He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 30 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, of the home; three daughters, Tamara Russell, Oklahoma City; Tonya Williams, Moore; Kimberly Fields, Oklahoma City; his stepson, Paul Turman, Florida; his father, A.M. Tye Brumley, Choctaw; and a brother, A. Dean "Bub" Brumley of Choctaw.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Choctaw First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Janet L. Jackson

Janet L. Jackson died Saturday in a Moore nursing home. She was 91.

She was born Feb. 27, 1907, in Calvin, Indian Territory, to Mack Avery and Eva Bell (Wall) Loving.

She was a special education teacher and married Ervan Jackson in Clarksville, Ark. on Nov. 4, 1933. She was a member of the A.A.R.P. and member of Liberty Baptist Church. She moved from Tulsa to the metro area in 1976.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Helen Cowsar, one sister and six brothers.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Dorotha Jackson, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Dan and Belva Jackson, Grand Prairie, Texas.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Enid Memorial Park with Deacon Dean Scott officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Elsye J. Wilson

Elsye J. Wilson, Edmond, died Saturday at the age of 106.

She was born Jan. 14, 1893, to James T. and Martha A. Boswell in Honey Grove, Texas.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of TOPS, National Contesters Organization, was a past president of Business and Professional Women's Club of Shawnee, and a member of Edmond's First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilson, and a son, J.C. Higgins.

Surviving are a nephew, the Rev. Bill Reece and his wife Virginia of Wichita, Kan., and several other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee. Arrangements are under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond.

Leslie Raymond Jones

Leslie Raymond "Les" Jones of Seminole died Sunday at his home. He was 82.

Jones was born Dec. 31, 1918, in Cass City, Mich., the son of Frank Alvin Jones and Harriett H. (Hendrick) Jones.

He was married Aug. 28, 1946, in Seminole to Thyra Mae "Tommie" (Knowles) Jones, who preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 1997.

He moved from Michigan to Seminole in 1945.

Jones, who owned Jones Jewelry in Seminole for 50 years, was one of Oklahoma's last master watch makers

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., Jones was a staff sergeant, serving from May 12, 1943, to Dec. 6, 1945.

Jones was a member of the United Presbyterian U.S.A.; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion; National Rifle Association and Seminole Masonic Lodge.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Survivors include his sister, Frances Smith of Clawson, Mich., and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery. Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.

Family visitation is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Leroy J. Parrish

Leroy J. Parrish of Maud died Tuesday at Seminole Medical Center. He was 75.

He was born May 21, 1925, in Bald Hill, Okla., to Lowen Jackson Parrish and Ethel Maud Cunningham Parrish.

He married Ruth Parrish June 6, 1956, in Shawnee.

Parrish, a Baptist, was retired from Gulf Oil Co. He served in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime Seminole County resident.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Parrish of the home; two sons, Jimmy Jordan of Maud; Johnny Jordan of Maud; a daughter, Carole VanMeter of Ada; one brother, Charley Parrish of Wilson; three sisters, Dorothy Springer of Seminole; Eldean and Patricia both of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Kande Hollock of Durant, Judd VanMeter of Blanchard; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.

Melvin F. Griffin

Melvin F. Griffin, Meeker, died Tuesday in Midwest City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Mammoth Baptist Church, Meeker. Other information is pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Bill Vane

Bill Vane, 93, Shawnee, died Tuesday at his residence.

Services are pending with Resthaven Funeral Home.

Jean Hammons

Jean Hammons, 84, Shawnee, died Tuesday.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.

Gerald L. Davidson

Gerald L. Davidson died Tuesday. He was 47.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Arvie May Thompson

Arvie May Thompson died Friday in Prague at the age of 101.

She was born Feb. 25, 1897, in Urbanette, Ark., the daughter of James Garfield and Sarah Melvina (Davis) Hobbs.

She was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church, where she married William G. Thompson on Jan. 18, 1914. They farmed in the Turner community until 1966 when they moved to Prague.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1979, her parents, four sisters, two brothers, an infant son and two sons-in-law.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva McCoy, Shawnee; Verna and Earl Dawkins, Prague; Azelee Schima, Prague; Wilma and Ed Eitel, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with burial in Prague Cemetery.

Georgia P. Stivers

Georgia P. Stivers died Thursday in Stroud at the age of 80.

She was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Porthouse, N.M., the daughter of George W. and Parthenia (Gravle) Lutz. She moved from Hereford, Texas, to Stroud in 1965.

She married Floyd Ralph Stivers in Hereford in February 1939 and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stroud.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1970, her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by one son, Floyd Stivers, Stroud; one brother, George Lutz, Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Ida Barnett, Muleshoe, Texas, and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Stroud, with the Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Burial will be at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Freddy Hopkins

Freddy Hopkins, McAlester, died Thursday at the age of 60. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Nickerson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Susie Ann Plunkett

Shawnee resident Susie Ann Plunkett died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 91.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jimmy Rosales Vasquez

Jimmy Rosales Vasquez of Shawnee died Sunday at a local nursing home. He was 93.

He was born Dec. 4, 1907, in Pecos, Texas, the son of Espiririon Vasquez and Utimia (Rosales) Vasquez.

He worked with Santa Fe Railroad in Shawnee during the 1940s and retired from Prestolite of Oklahoma City, a division of Ford Motor Company, in 1980 after 18 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union of Oklahoma City.

Vasquez was married to Nina Vasquez Nov. 14, 1953, in Oklahoma City.

He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church of Shawnee.

Vasquez, who had lived in Shawnee since 1985, was a drummer in various country and western bands in Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister and seven brothers.

Survivors include a nephew and niece-in-law, Sam and Betty Vasquez, Shawnee; foster daughter, Juanita Vasquez Sykes, Oklahoma City; nieces, Pauline Enochs and Carmel Columbus both of Shawnee; godson, Danny Columbus, Shawnee; nephew, John Pena, Oklahoma City; grandsons, Anthony Sykes, Moore and Gabriel Sykes, Oklahoma City; and a number of nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Services will be noon Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
