Clarance C. Chapman

Clarance C. Chapman, 86, Davenport, died Thursday in Cushing.

He was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Davenport, the son of Dallas P. and Bessie G. (Melton) Chapman.

He farmed around the Davenport area for many years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Davenport.

Chapman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lova LeeAnn and Pete Johnson of Davenport; Faye and Terry Whiddon of Hattiesburg, Miss.; Janean Marshall of Chandler; one brother, Clark D. Chapman of Bartlesville; three sisters and brother-in-law, Iola and John Brewer of Davenport; Lillie Jane Henderson of Cushing; Coleene Moody of Guthrie; brother-in-law, Carl Campbell of Stroud; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Davenport with Rev. Larry Stribling officiating. Burial will follow in the Davenport Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Cora Lee Keith

Noble resident Cora Lee Keith, 87, died Friday in Shawnee.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery.

Other information is pending.

Bennie R. Delaware

Bennie R. Delaware, 71, Stroud, died Thursday in Cushing.

He was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Avery, Okla., to Benjamin and Anna (Falls) Delaware.

Delaware worked for the Stroud school system for many years. On Dec. 7, 1956, he married LaJunta Lowe in Tulsa.

Preceding Delaware in death were his wife, his parents and one brother.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Becky Delaware of Stroud; one brother, Robert Delaware of Stroud; three sisters, Lucy Delaware of Stroud; Jane Stephens of Stroud, and Billy Jean Washington of Glenpool; one granddaughter, Amanda, and many other relatives.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud. The Rev. Duane Pratt will officiate and burial will be in Stroud Cemetery.

W.A. "Bud" White

W.A. "Bud" White of Tecumseh died Monday. He was 84.

He was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Atoka County. He was the son of Clarence Edward and Martha Ann (Self) White.

White attended school in Macomb. He lived for many years in the Macomb area before moving to Pink 35 years ago.

He married Kathalene Smith on July 4, 1936, in Cleveland County.

White worked as a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Pink Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by brother Ed White and sisters Ruby Weaver, Clara Hunt and Lilly Rusco.

Survivors include wife, Kathalene White of the home; daughter, Sherry Janell Caudle of Tecumseh; son, William Nels White of Norfolk, Conn.; three sisters, Fannie DeBoard of Napa, Idaho; Jackie Kinsey of Tecumseh and Jean Laughlin of Bryan, Texas; six grandchildren and two-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

The casket will remain open until 9:30 a.m. Friday and will not be reopened.

Thelma M. Lofton

Thelma M. Lofton of Shawnee died Wednesday. She was 89.

She was born Aug. 20, 1910, in Cement. She was the daughter of Bienville R. Morris and Grace (Whitaker) Morris Tims.

Lofton attended two years of college at the University of Oklahoma. She retired from food service and was a janitorial supply owner.

She married Ralph A. Lofton on Aug. 15, 1962. He died Aug. 11, 1991.

She was a member of the First Church of God. Mrs. Lofton lived in Shawnee since 1963. Prior to that she lived in Chickasha, Oakland, Calif., and Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant brother, one stepson, Charles Lofton, and two grandchildren.

Survivors include one stepson, Gerald Lofton of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and spouses, Larry and Vicki Lofton of Shawnee; Billy and Natalie Keneda of Oklahoma City, Toni and Susan; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Tecumseh Mission Cemetery with Rev. Tom Harrison officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Mission Cemetery, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Ida Belle Moore

Ida Belle Moore died Tuesday in Chandler. She was 85.

She was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Jackson County, Miss. She was the daughter of William G. and Mary E. (Hartley) Horne.

She married William Fredrick Moore on Jan. 22, 1937, in Chandler. He preceded her in death on May 4,1971.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chandler and worked as a beautician for many years in the Chandler area.

Others preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Sue Cochran of Perryton, Texas; Carrie Lashly of Aberdeen, S.D.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Chandler, with Pastor Kelley Jo Lashly officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

William Riggan Fleming

Shawnee resident William Riggan "W.R." Fleming died Saturday at his home. He was 87.

Fleming was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Mena, Ark., to John and Emma Price Fleming. He attended Clover Leaf School in the Corinth Community. In 1929, Fleming moved with his family to Shawnee.

He married Alaine Miller on April 8, 1939, in Ponca City.

After received a degree from the Los Angeles (Calif.) School of Diesel Engineering in 1937, Fleming worked as a shipyard welder during World War II in Richmond, Calif. He then became a cross-country pipeline station welder, then later started his own welding business in the Shawnee area. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alaine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nedra and Harold Weddle, Ada, and LaDonna and Jack Marshall, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and their spouses and children, Tanya Weddle Marical and her husband Darrin and son Chase, Harjo, Steve Weddle, St. Louis, Mo., Melissa Marshall, Dallas, Texas, and Zack W. Marshall, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Emma Jean Fleming, Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Garland, Olan and Doyle.

Services were held Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.

James W. Fleming

Former Shawnee resident James W "Jay" Fleming died Feb 6. in Mechanicsville, Va., after a four-year bout with cancer. He was 84.

Fleming was born in Mena, Ark., to Waymon Otis and Emma Rhea Fleming. He moved to the Shawnee area in 1922. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1934, then worked for Amerada, a petroleum exploration company, prior to joining the Army Air Force in 1941.

In 1943, he married Mildred E. Meeks of Hastings, Okla. He served in the Pacific Theatre of World War II, with the 301st Fighter Wing.

Following the war, Fleming received a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Oklahoma City University, then received his masters in elementary school administration from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

In 1951, he accepted a principalship in Sapulpa, and also served as acting superintendent and elementary coordinator in that city. In 1957, he returned to Shawnee, where he was principal of Woodrow Wilson school for 14 years. He finished his teaching career in Harrah as principal of Russell Babb Elementary, retiring in 1981.

Fleming served as president of the Sapulpa Lions Club and was a one-time president of Bison Federal Credit Union and also managed the Elks Country Club.

He belonged to Lambda Chi Alpha, Tri-Beta Biological Fraternity and the Shawnee Kiwanis Club. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, where he served on the board of directors. He also attended and taught Sunday school at the Harrah Methodist Church.

Services were held Feb. 10 at the Waurika First United Methodist Church. Graveside services in the Hastings Cemetery included military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Fleming, Reedville, Va.; son, Bill, and his wife, Sherry, Reedville and Honolulu, Hawaii; son, Phillip Fleming of Reedville; daughter, Laurel and her husband, Kyle Miller, New Canaan, Conn.; and four grandchildren, Jim and Tommy Fleming, Honolulu; and Alexi and Caroline Miller, New Canaan; one sister, Mary Claybrook, Wewoka; and three nieces.

Memorials may be made to Richmond Hospice in Virginia or American Cancer Society.

Kathryn Louise Manny

Seminole resident Kathryn Louise Manny died Sunday at Seminole Medical Center. She was 75.

Mrs. Manny was born July 19, 1924, in Creek County to Livy Thurston Keene and Annie Florence Chaffin Keene. She married Elmer Frank Manny in June 1942 in California.

She moved from California to Seminole in 1947 and worked as a dietary aide at Seminole Municipal Hospital. She attended Baptist church in Seminole and was associated with the Heritage House.

Survivors include her son, Steven K. Manny, Seminole; daughter, Millie Russell, Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1970; four brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Kathleen Frieda Luper

Shawnee resident Kathleen Frieda Luper died Friday at her home. She was 88.

Mrs. Luper was born March 10, 1911, in Ardmore to William Thomas and Ada Almeda (Bradley) Majors. She married Sterling Arzo Luper on Jan. 2, 1934, in Okmulgee.

She graduated from Wanette High School, then graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1932 with a degree in home economics and English. She lived in Wichita, Kan., until 1934, then moved to Oklahoma City. She moved to Shawnee in 1945 and was a member of the First Christian Church where she was secretary of the Berean Sunday School class.

Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Luper Cannon, Tulsa; two grandchildren, Philip Kib Cannon, Littleton, Colo.; Jana Cai and her husband Royce Larsen, Atascadero, Calif.; six great-grandchildren, Philip Stephen and Christopher Connor Cannon, Littleton, Colo.; Jacob Edwin, Nathaniel Kib, David LaMont and Saracai Larsen, Atascadero, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Nov. 21, 1987; two sisters and one daughter.

Services were held Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dan F. Reihing and Dr. James D. Sill Sr. officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Robert Eugene Floyd

Robert Eugene Floyd of Shawnee died Saturday at a local nursing home. He was 79.

He was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Joplin, Mo. He was the son of Ditzzler and Kathryn (Champ) Floyd.

Floyd attended schools in Commanche and the University of Oklahoma. He was a retired geologist.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Nashville in World War II. Floyd lived in the Shawnee area since 1939.

Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Virginia Floyd Davis of Shawnee and Georgene and Clarence Hale of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Marge Floyd of Durango, Colo., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Private services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Bill Matthews officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
