Juanita Smith

Juanita Smith, 63, died Wednesday in Prague. She was the wife of Bobby Smith.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Letha M. Young

Letha May Young, 86, Bartlesville, died Tuesday at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dewey Church of Christ with Chuck Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home, Bartlesville.

Mrs. Young was born on Aug. 27, 1912, at Licking, Mo., to John W. and Clara Elizabeth (Keeney) Hicks. She lived in Missouri until coming to Oklahoma with her family at the age of 8. She attended Butler Creek School, Lincoln School and Central High School in Bartlesville.

She married Enoch Wesley Ketchum at Nowata in 1931 and he preceded her in death in 1937.

She married Amos Young on Oct. 3, 1939, at Nowata. They made their home in Bartlesville and her husband was employed by National Zinc Co. until his retirement. Mrs. Young was a homemaker.

Following her husband's retirement, they moved to Dewey to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on May 29, 1973.

Mrs. Young continued her home in Dewey until moving to Bartlesville in the mid 1980s. Mrs. Young was a member of the Dewey Church of Christ and for many years was an active member in the Ochelata Ladies Quilting Club.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria D. and Sylvester Scullawl, Ochelata; five sons and daughters-in-law, former Shawnee residents, Bob R. and Mary Jo Ketchum of Pueblo, Colo.; Amos L. and Connie, Bernard E. and Paula, all of Bartlesville; Phillip A. and JoAnn, Grapevine, Texas; and Garland D. and Wilma, Dewey; two stepchildren and their spouses, Joe and Lois Ketchum, Joplin, Mo., and Anna Mae and Buster Bradley, San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, John Hicks, Dewey; a sister, Emma E. Hite, Bartlesville; 37 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her two husbands, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Edward Ketchum, three brothers and three sisters.

A memorial has been established to the Turley Children's Home, in care of Dewey Church of Christ, P.O. Box 340, Dewey OK 74029.

Roland L. Wilkerson

Roland L. "Bub" Wilkerson, Maud, died Thursday at a Seminole hospital. He was 78.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church of Maud with Francis Snodgrass officiating. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud.

Roland L. "Bub" Wilkerson was born June 27, 1920, in Elvins, Mo., the son of Harry John and Margaret Evelyn (Bayless) Wilkerson.

He married Alene Mayme Paulk in Watonga on Oct. 11, 1941. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as an aircraft maintenance supervisor at Tinker Air Force Base and retired in 1976.

He moved from Del City to the Maud area in 1977 and was a member of Sunny Lane Baptist Church of Del City.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Alene Wilkerson, in 1995; one son, Ronald Lee Wilkerson, in 1943; two brothers, Glen Wilkerson, Harold Wilkerson, and his parents.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Steve Richardson, Blanchard; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Verdonna Wilkerson, Blanchard; Charles and Sue Wilkerson, Tuttle; Rick and Shirley Wilkerson, Choctaw; brother, E.J. Wilkerson, Maud; sisters, Estel Stout, Anderson, Mo.; Betty Snodgrass, El Reno, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Allie Robertson

Maud resident Allie Robertson, 94, died Thursday.

She was born June 16, 1904, in Ada. She married Jeff Jefferson in Hazel on July 25, 1918. She was a homemaker and a member of Vamoosa Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1970.

She is survived by a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Tammi and Dennis Glover, and four great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Johnathon, Jessica, and Janey Glover, all of Konawa.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dora Cemetery, with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.

Raymond Crow

Raymond Crow, 81, Shawnee, died Sunday at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Jasper, Ark., the son of Webber Crow and Thelma (Shaddox) Crow.

Crow, a rancher and farmer, worked in his early years for Rock Island Railroad and Price Smith Oil Drilling Co.

He married Dorothy Ailey on Dec. 24, 1938, in Tecumseh.

An active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Crow moved to Shawnee at age 7 and had lived here since.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Overland Bunt Crow; one grandson, Bryan Allen Wares.

Survivors include wife, Dorothy Crow; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Marie and Jo Ed Wares, Shawnee; Sharon Sullivan, Shawnee; Zoretta and Gene Mauldin, Earlsboro; Loretta and Dave Parris, Meeker; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Venita Ailey of Shawnee; Dorothy Houchin of Oklahoma City; Shirley Ryan of Edmond; and one brother, Weber J. Crow of Earlsboro.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Watson and the Rev. Leon Lutts officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Birdie Rhea Moore

Birdie Rhea Moore of Shawnee died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 92.

She was born May 13, 1908, in Lassater, Texas, the daughter of Charles Edward Beauchamp and Betty (Womack) Beauchamp. She attended school in Texas.

Mrs. Moore, a homemaker, was married on Dec. 16, 1926, to Gorman R. Moore, who preceded her in death. She was an active member of Temple Baptist Church.

She and her husband moved back to Shawnee in 1975 after retirement.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Charles Edward Moore; one brother, Kirby Beauchamp; three sisters, Qwen Dorgan, Gladys Chambers and Bernice Waller.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Mary Ann Moore of Shawnee; Gerald and Inez Moore of Enid; one daughter, Gorma Rhea Rose of Mannford; one daughter-in-law, Geneva Moore of Spiro; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; two sisters, Margaret Gibson of Ore City, Texas; Hazel Carson of Linden, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mary Beauchamp of Houston.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Craig and the Rev. Randy Moore officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund.

LaVoy Shirey

LaVoy Shirey of Tecumseh died Monday in Shawnee. He was 62.

He was born Sept. 27, 1938, in Quincy, Calif., the son of Lincoln A. and Esther (Booze) Shirey.

Shirey, who was reared in Shawnee and Tecumseh, graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1956. On Sept. 8, 1956, he married Mary Webb in Tecumseh.

He lived in California for 17 years before returning to Oklahoma in 1973.

Shirey was a truck driver and owned and operated a bowling alley in Laverne for several years. He most recently operated a truck stop in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rodney Shirey.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki Rodgers of Shawnee; Ronda and Brad Stark of Shawnee; Terry and Craig Rodgers of Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Vonda and Hugh Campbell of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Stephanie Morton, Jennifer Abbott, Jerome Rodgers, Corey Rodgers and Courtney Stark; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Morton and Cassidy Morton.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Clint Dawkins officiating. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Zevert Z. Davis

Zevert Z. Davis of Shawnee died Monday at home. He was 91.

Services will be announced by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Charles A. MacWhirt

Charles A. MacWhirt of McLoud died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 77.

He was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Washington, D.C., to Robert E. MacWhirt and Lena (McGinnity) MacWhirt.

MacWhirt, a retired maintenance worker, was employed with apartment complexes in Virginia. He married Bertha Meekins in 1985 in Virginia.

A U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II, MacWhirt was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He has been a resident of McLoud since 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert E. MacWhirt Jr., Joseph W. MacWhirt and Howard E. Reier; and one sister, Evelyn V. MacWhirt.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha MacWhirt of the home; son, Charles A. MacWhirt Jr., McLoud; two sisters, Frances (MacWhirt) Hutchens, McLoud; Louise Reier Frye, Columbia, Mo.; six nieces, three nephews, 21 great-nieces and eight great-nephews.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Savage officiating. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Esther See

Former Shawnee resident Esther See of Eagle Rock, Mo., died Saturday in Kimberling City, Mo. She was 89.

She was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Almartha, Mo., to John and Alice (Pendergraft) Loftis. She attended Jarvis Schools.

Mrs. See, who was reared in Shawnee, lived in Shawnee for many years before moving to White Field, Texas. She moved to Eagle Rock, Mo., seven years ago.

Mrs. See, a hairdresser, owned and operated Home Beauty Shop at her house in Shawnee and in Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Loftis, Dewey Loftis, Cecil "Pete" Loftis and Sonny Loftis.

Survivors include two sons, Richard See of Dallas, Texas; Harold See of Eagle Rock, Mo.; sister, Pauline Howell of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Rick See, Gay See and Linda Talbert; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Gene D. Addington

Gene D. Addington, 73, Shawnee, died Monday in Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Further arrangements will be announced.

Junior Lee Birdsell

Former Maud resident Junior Lee Birdsell died Friday in Denton, Texas, at age 62.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God in Maud. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery.

Other information is pending with Knight Funeral Home, Maud.
