Loyd Alvin Duncan

McLoud resident Loyd Alvin Duncan died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 70.

Duncan was born July 8, 1928, in Pontotoc to Dan and Lucinda (Cassel) Duncan. He married Nellie Stone on May 7, 1981.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Leeway Trucking Co. and also worked for the Meeker school system.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Duncan, of the home; son, Danny Loyd Duncan, Oklahoma City; daughters, Charlene Thompson, Oklahoma City; Marlene Pendley, Choctaw; stepchildren, Kimberly Ledbetter, Chandler; Vivian and Ryan Holland; five grandchildren, Brock, Sharon and Baron Pendley, Casey Duncan and Debra Thompson; three stepgrandchildren, Shamika Ledbetter, Gary Ledbetter and Felicity Helt; two brothers, E.W. Duncan and Ralph Duncan, both of Ada; and two sisters, Justine Lewis, Fittstown; Leota Coker, Lovington, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Viewing and visitation will be at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker until 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Meeker with Ron Walker officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Connerville Cemetery, Connerville, Okla.

Harold Franklin Brown

Lifelong Warwick resident Harold Franklin "Red" Brown died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. He was 77.

Brown was born July 27, 1921, in Warwick to Harry and Audrey (Perry) Brown. He married Virgie Ann Sullivan on Sept. 26, 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked in the Wellston area as an auto mechanic until his retirement.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Brown and Pat Brown, both of Chandler; Frank Brown, Warwick; daughter and son-in-law, LaGina and John Ridgeway, Tonkawa; daughter, Tina Sheets, Warwick; three brothers, Gary Brown, Oklahoma City; Joe Brown, Warwick; Abe Brown, Jay; sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Joe Patton, Oklahoma City; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Virgie.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Star Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Paul Kinser

Longtime Chandler resident Paul Kinser died Tuesday in Stroud. He was 76.

Kinser was born March 31, 1922, in Laverne to George and Minnie Mae (Nelson) Kinser. He married Helen Thomas on June 13, 1945, in Miami.

He worked as a brick mason and was a member of the Church of God Holiness Church in Chandler.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Kinser, of the home; four sisters, Margarette Williams, Ruby Norman and Edith Summers, all of Alvin, Texas; Georgia Teale, Shawnee; one granddaughter, Heather Rowden, Chandler; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with Roy Baker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Sam L. Webb

Tecumseh resident Sam L. Webb died Monday in Shawnee. He was 82.

He was born Dec. 17, 1916, in Vivian, Okla., the son of John Livingston and Daisy Martha (Hopkins) Webb.

The family moved to Tecumseh where he attended elementary school. They moved to the Eufaula area and he graduated from Onapa High School. He married Bernice C. Joiner in Checotah on March 29, 1937.

Webb worked as a shoe salesman for JCPenney Co. and then served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Independence for two years during World War II.

He was a shoe salesman in Seminole and Shawnee, was an insurance salesman, owned a cattle ranch and worked in oil field construction until his retirement in 1985.

He served on the county water board for many years and had been a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh since the 1920s.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Debbie Haase; sister, Ada Archer, and three brothers, Joe, Oral and Don Webb.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice, of the home; son, Tom Webb, Champaign, Ill.; daughter, Patty McKelvey, Tecumseh, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Broadway United Methodist Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Will Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Bessie June McCormick

Bessie June McCormick of Okemah died Friday at her home. She was 60.

She was born June 3, 1938, in Wetumka to Clarence Tillery and Mattie Rose Glasco Tillery. She was married to Denver Paul McCormick and he preceded her in death in April, 1986.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Heavens Way Gospel Church. She had been a resident of Okfuskee County most of her life.

Also preceding her in death were her two sisters, Ruby Fuller and Donna Sue Tillery.

Surviving are three sons, Randall Keith McCormick of Tulsa; Ricky McCormick and Shawn David McCormick of Bentonville, Ark.; four brothers, Leon Tillery of Tulsa, Johnny Lee Tillery, Marvin Tillery and Donnie Lee Tillery, all of Okemah; six sisters, Gladys Bennett, Freda Wind, Betty Smith, Opal Smith, Kathryn Dennis, and Delorse Smith, all of Okemah; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Heavens Way Gospel Church with the Rev. Paul Dodson officiating.

Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Paul E. Johnson

Paul E. Johnson died Monday at the Sulphur Veterans Center. He was 78.

He was born Jan. 11, 1921, in Okfuskee County near Morse. He was the son of Charlie Johnson and Esther Stephens Johnson. On Sept. 16, 1943, he married Wilma Fern Wilson in Okemah.

He was an Army veteran, serving as a military policeman in France during World War II. He was retired Okemah police officer and a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He had been a resident of Okemah all his life.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Fern Johnson of the home; two sons, John and Donna Johnson of Holdenville; and Timothy and Cheryl Johnson of Okemah; five grandchildren, John Paul Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, James Johnson, Dyan Smith and Amber Johnson; and three great grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Hershel Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

The family asks that donations be made to the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruth D. Hargrove

Ruth D. Hargrove died Monday at Pioneer Nursing Home. She was 83.

She was born March 26, 1915, in Calvin. She was the daughter of Allen Winkle and Minnie Abney Winkle. She married Harlan "Happy" Hargrove at Morse on July 3, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1963.

She was a homemaker, a retired cook at Okfuskee Memorial Hospital and Jack's Cafe. She was a member of the Morse Baptist Church and had lived in Okemah most of her life.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Hargrove; one brother, Roy Winkle; one sister, Ida Henshaw, and one grandson, Kodie Gordon Hargrove.

Surviving are two sons, Bobby and Theresa Hargrove of Okemah and Gary and Debbie Hargrove of Lindsay; one sister, Dorothy Pitts of Modesto, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; Stephen Hargrove, Richard Hargrove, Robert Hargrove, Angela Grissom, Monica Hargrove, Eva Schmidlkofer, Tracy Walck, Deanna Reiter, Dena Hargrove, and Jessica Hargrove; and 14 great grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Clay officiating and Rev. Jim Waller assisting. Burial will be a Morse Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

William Suggs

William Suggs of Shawnee died Saturday in a Tecumseh nursing home. He was 90.

He was born Sept. 19, 1908, to William K. Sr. and Amy Suggs.

Private services are to be held.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1971; mother in 1958, one brother and his step-mother, Fannie Suggs.

Viewing will be at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel on Wednesday.

Paul Kinser

Paul Kinser of Stroud died Tuesday. He was 76.

He was born in Laverne of March 31, 1922. He was the son of George and Minnie Mae (Nelson) Kinser. He worked as a brick mason and was a member of the Chandler Bible Missionary Church in Chandler.

He married Helen Thomas at Miami, Okla., on June 13, 1945.

His parents, three sons, one daughter, two sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Kinser of the home; four sisters, Margarette Williams of Alvin, Texas; Ruby Norman of Alvin, Texas, Edith Summers of Alvin, Texas; and Georgia Teale of Shawnee; one granddaughter, Heather Rowden of Chandler; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Roy Baker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Joe Joseph Decker

Joe Joseph Decker died Tuesday. He was 93.

He was born March 17, 1906, in Newkirk, Okla. He was the son of Michael and Frances Rose (Horinek) Decker. He had been a resident of Seminole County most of his life.

He and his brother Jim Decker were prominent farmers and ranchers in the Seminole County area.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Frank; and three sisters, Matilda, Agnes, and Frances.

Surviving are one brother, Jim Decker of the home; five sisters, Mary Hair, Duncan; Rose Drescher, Oklahoma City; Ann Rogers, McLeon, Va.; Louise Plumley, Denver, Colo.; Margaret May, Oxnard, Calif.; many nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be at Parks Brother Funeral Home in Prague until 4 p.m. Thursday.

A rosary and wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole with the Rev. Basil Keenan, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole and St. Gregory's University Scholarship Fund.

Delbert Fleming

Delbert "D.A." Fleming of Shawnee died Monday. He ws 96.

He was born Dec. 27, 1902, in Gerty, Indian Territory.

He married May Horn on March 17, 1923, in Lawrence, Oklahoma, and after her death, he married Olevia Cagle in 1961.

He was chief of electrical operations for OG&E and a member of University Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his first wife, May Horn, then his second wife, Olevia Cagle.

Surviving are three sons, Robert L. Fleming of Tulsa; Gerald G. Fleming of Valley Mills, Texas; David W. Fleming of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Betty G. Whitehead of Ada; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosalie Wendt of Aptos, Calif.; Shirley Carter of Holdenville; Opal Mauldin of Calvin, Okla.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Arnold E. Long officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
