Clint Argo

Clint Argo of Norman died Tuesday. He was 87.

He was born to George Washington and Katie Argo on Dec. 20, 1911. He married Mary E. Berglan in 1933. They were married for 63 years before her death in 1995.

He worked at Brockhaus Farm and Dairy, and later Coca-Cola Bottling Co., before joining the Norman Fire Department. He retired as captain in 1963 following 20 years of service.

He later worked for the City of Norman Water Department and retired after several years. He continued to work on a part-time basis for Cargill Construction and Brockhaus Nursery.

He was a member of Norman First Free Will Baptist Church, where he was also the senior deacon, and was an active member of the Little Axe Senior Citizens Center, where he established the Mary Berglan Memorial Garden in memory of his wife.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Don Edward Argo, in 1937; a grandson, Stephen Ray Argo in 1968, and nine brothers and sisters.

Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Bourbeau of Norman; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Jan Argo; Doyle and Linda Argo, and Jim and Melissa Argo, all of Norman; a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. Clyde Argo of Norman; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Norman with the Rev. Joe Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at Norman IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Frank Chisholm Sr.

Noble resident Frank "Buck" Chisholm Sr. died Saturday at a Noble nursing home. He was 86.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor Cope officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Chisholm was born Dec. 22, 1912, in Shawnee to Jesse and Emma (Spybuck) Chisholm. He married Winona Wells in June 1932 in Anadarko.

He attended Chilocco Indian School near Newkirk. He lived in the Shawnee area most of his life and was a retired house painter. He was a longtime elder of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and often served as a tribal stomp dance leader.

Survivors include his daughter, Wilma Moore, Anadarko; daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Wendell Autaubo and Delores and Timothy Nestell, all of Anadarko; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Linda Chisholm Jr., Okmulgee; three sisters, Viola Mae Thorpe-Logan, Shawnee, Norene Durant, Texas, and Marie Sayler, Payton; brother, Calvin Chisholm, Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, several brothers and one grandson, Christopher Clay Chisholm.

Lenna Mae Blum

Prague resident Lenna Mae Blum died Sunday in Prague. She was 85.

Mrs. Blum was born Aug. 6, 1913, in Thomas, Okla., to Robert Able and Laura Victoria (Bales) Rushing. She married Albert Blum in 1974.

In the mid-1930s she received a bachelor of arts degree in teaching from Oklahoma Baptist University. She retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation as traffic control manager. She moved to Prague in 1994 from Gresham, Ore., and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her two sons, Wallace "Bud" McClellan, Prague, and Merlin McClellan, Lawrence, Kan.; daughter, Landis McClellan, Prague; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; her parents and two brothers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating.

Lawrence Miller

Lifelong Cromwell resident Lawrence "Bud" Miller died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 80.

Miller was born April 14, 1918, in Haskell, Okla., to Thomas and Rae Wolff Miller. He married Kathryn Jewell Cope on March 21, 1934.

He moved to Cromwell in 1924 and graduated from Cromwell Schools in 1936. He went to work on the Alaska Highway in 1942. In 1943 he moved to Shawnee where he worked for Amoco Pipeline. He served in the U.S. Army from May 23, 1945, to Aug. 14, 1946, then went back to work for Amoco in Shawnee until 1953 when he was transferred to Tioga, N.D. He moved back to Cromwell in 1978.

He helped build the First Baptist Church in Tioga and was active in the First Baptist Church in Cromwell.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Phill Garett, Laurel, Mont.; grandchildren, Bobby Gene Moore, Dickinson, N.D.; Serrena Westerfield, Salem, Ore.; Meagan Malchow, Hardin, Mont.; Loren Garnett, Billings, Mont.; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Brad, and Shelly Moore, Sierra and Lisa Westerfield, and Brianne Malchow; sister, Ruby Brown, Cromwell; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathryn Jewell; son, Gary Lynn Miller and one brother, Herbert Miller.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cromwell First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, under the direction of Stout Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Velva Z. Campbell Fullbright

Velva Z. Campbell Fullbright died Sunday at a Shawnee hospital. She was 73.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Carl Clay officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Mrs. Fullbright was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Bearden, Okla., to Alph Campbell and Rabie Brumfield. She married Marvin "Oliver" Fullbright on Aug. 18, 1946, in Okmulgee.

She lived in Okfuskee County most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of the Okemah First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Gloria Fullbright, Dale, and David and Rayelee Fullbright, Okemah; brother, Bill Campbell, Okemah; five grandchildren, Steve and Blake Fullbright, Dale, and Matthew, Michael and John Fullbright, Okemah.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 23, 1998, her parents and one brother.

Michael Allen Warrenburg

Dale resident Michael Allen Warrenburg died Saturday at his home. He was 48.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at Dale Church of Christ with Dewayne Thomas and Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch Walker Funeral Chapel.

Warrenburg was born Nov. 11, 1950, in Shawnee to J.D. and Dean (Stapleton) Warrenburg. He graduated from Choctaw High School in 1969 and was a maintenance worker at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of Dale Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother, Dean Warrenburg of the home; grandmother, Alice Thrasher, Dale; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reed and Sherry Warrenburg, Seminole, and Jim and Gwen Warrenburg, Tecumseh; nieces, Shawna Trahan and Alice Warrenburg, both of Tecumseh, Amanda Perez, Abilene, Texas, and Lori Warrenburg, Seminole; one nephew, Bo Warrenburg, Tecumseh; great nephew, Gage Trahan, Tecumseh; his former wife, Judy Ellis, Tecumseh, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Warrenburg, and grandfather, Elmer Sanders.

Glen See

Shawnee resident Glen See died Saturday at his home. He was 87.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Faircloth officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

See was born April 8, 1911, in Davis, Okla., to William and Ellen (Thorpe) See. He married Pauline (Walker) See on Jan. 15, 1934, in Konawa.

He attended Shawnee schools and was a mechanic. He was a member of the First Church of God, Greater Oklahoma Bluegrass Music Society and the Oklahoma Bluegrass Club. He also volunteered for many senior projects.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Norma See, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Roscoe Short, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Mabel See, Covington, La., and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 29, 1988, his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of Oklahoma Memorial Fund at 230 N. Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, Okla., 73110 or Hospice of Shawnee at 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, Okla., 74804.

Naomi Ruth Staal

Naomi Ruth Staal died Friday at a Meeker nursing home. She was 75.

Mrs. Staal was born July 22, 1923, in Vici, Okla., to William Thomas and Ethel Bell (Washburn) Shoopman. She married Edward R. Staal on May 29, 1939, at Camp Creek Church in Vici. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Edward R. Staal; her son, Jerry Leon Staal; daughter, Mary Louise Kidd; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were 3:30 p.m. Monday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel, Harrah, with Bill Derrick and Mike Taylor officiating. Burial was in Vici, Okla.

Selma Luvenia Rhoades

Selma Luvenia Rhoades, lifelong resident of Maud and presently living in Bethany, died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 91.

She was born in Mill Creek on Aug. 20, 1908, to Charlie Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (Hester) Pugh. She graduated from high school in Sulphur, in 1926.

She married Glenn E. Rhoades on May 21, 1939, at Okemah. They lived their entire married life in Maud, except one year at St. Louis and the last eight months in Bethany.

They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May 1999. She attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Maud and was active in the United Methodist Women and the Delphian Club in Maud.

Before moving to Bethany, she attended many school activities and was very active in the Maud Historical Society and the senior citizens activities. She and her husband spent time volunteering for the two organizations.

Her parents, brother, Edward Wallace Pugh and her identical twin sister, Velma Lee Jennings, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn E. Rhoades, Bethany; daughter, Mary Dubben and husband Harl of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Kyle L. Dubben of Dallas, Texas, and Jay S. Dubben of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law Carl Muller of Tulsa; sister-in-law Sylvia Rhoades of Cleveland; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Maud, with the Rev. Gene Teel and Dr. Floyd L. Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.

Memorials may be made to the Glenn and Selma Rhoades Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 219, Maud, Okla. 74854.

Mary Lou (Flores) Ransom

Mary Lou (Flores) Ransom of Mead died Tuesday at a Dennison, Texas hospital. She was 61.

She was the daughter of David and Clara Mills of Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee. More will be announced later.

Lee J. Grimes Jr.

Lee J. "Little Lee" Grimes Jr., Atlanta, Ga., died Monday in Atlanta. He was 76.

He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Eatonton, Ga. He was the son of the late Lee J. and Julia Bell Grimes.

Grimes was a lifelong resident of Georgia. In 1947 he married Jesse Kate Parham in Eatonton, Ga.

He was a retired construction worker. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in combat in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jesse Kate Grimes of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, two sons, five sisters, Sara Lou Martin of Atlanta, Ga.; Equilla White and Eva Grimes, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; Loveler Williams of Brooksville; Mary Agnes Anthony of Norman; four brothers, Samuel Grimes of Tecumseh; Waynefield Grimes of Oklahoma City; Waymon Grimes of Dallas, Texas; Marcus Grimes of Tecumseh; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel in Southwest Atlanta. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, under the direction of Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta, Ga.

Jessie Bell Cherry

Jessie Bell Cherry of Seminole died Monday. She was 77.

She was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Wolf. She was the daughter of William Edward House and Margaret Ann House.

She married Ralph Cherry on May 1, 1950, at Baird, Texas.

Mrs. Cherry was a homemaker. She was also Baptist.

She was preceded in death by both parents and two sons, Ronnie and Ralph Edward Cherry.

Survivors include husband Ralph Cherry of the home; daughters, Bettie and James Marshall of Seminole; Margaret Conley of Salt Springs, Fla., and Jimmie Dean Powell of Salt Springs, Fla.; one sister and brother-in-law, Mandy and Roy Barlow of Tennessee and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Cemetery.
