Frank D. Miller

Frank D. Miller, 67, Shawnee died Tuesday at a Seminole hospital.

He was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Edmond. He was the son of Arthur and Pearl Miller.

Miller attended school in Edmond. He worked for Fox-Vliet Drug Co. for 18 years.

He retired from Central Plastics in 1995. Miller married LaVonta Coffey April 16, 1961, in Canton.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Shawnee.

Survivors include wife LaVonta Miller of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, D'Anna and Mike Wright, Meeker; son, Darryl Miller, Redonda Beach, Calif.; Danny Walls, Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Natasha Miller, Meeker; two sisters, Betty Burt, Edmond; Janice Miller, Stinette, Texas; one brother, Tommy Miller and wife Florence, Amarillo, texas; stepmother, Vivian Miller, Stinette, Texas; stepbrother, Jimmy Bishard, Stinette, Texas.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, with Dr. James Sill officiating, assisted by Chaplain Bill Derrick. Burial will be at Canton Cemetery, Canton, at 3 p.m. The casket will remain open until 9 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Youth Program.

Edwin C. Markham Jr.

Edwin C. Markham Jr. of Shawnee died Monday. He was 44.

He was born April 11, 1955, in Jamestown, N.Y. He was the son of Ed and Elaine Markham.

He attended junior high and high school in Shawnee. Markham moved to Pennsylvania, returning to Shawnee about two years ago.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two aunts and uncles.

Survivors include Melissa McMillen of the home; nine children, Jackie Climer, Jeremy Markham, Eddie Markham III, Steve Markham, Brad Markham, Greg Markham, Brandie Kilbury, Corban McMillen and Myranda Markham; parents, Ed and Elaine Markham, Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Welcome Markham, Russell Pennsylvania; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and James Cave, Tecumseh; three grandchildren, Che Markham, McKenzie and Andrea Climer; and several other relatives.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Cemetery, with the Rev. John Elliott officiating, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Deloris Kaseca Checotah

Deloris Kaseca Checotah of Harrah died Tuesday at the age of 34.

Tribal rites will be Thursday evening at Little Axe Community Center and burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Cemetery at Little Axe.

Further arrangements will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Anna Marie McDonald

Anna Marie McDonald died Monday in Noel, Mo. She was 23.

She was born June 2, 1976, in Palestine, Texas. She was the daughter of Albert and Anna (Bucy) Hasbell.

She was married to Eric McDonald on Dec. 24, 1999, and was a homemaker.

Survivors include husband, Eric McDonald of Anderson, Mo.; father, Albert Hasbell of Chandler; mother, Ann Hasbell of Anderson, Mo.; son, Manuel Hasbell; two daughters, Candice Hasbell and Marcia McDonald; brother, Leroy Hasbell of Chandler and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw, with the Rev. Paul Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw, under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Cherrie M. Brightwell

Cherrie M. Brightwell of Tecumseh died Friday. She was 73.

She was born March 18, 1926, in Nocona, Texas, to Glen and Opal (McCarty) Molsbee. She graduated from Nocona High School and attended McPherson College in Kansas.

She married Lonnie B. Brightwell Jr., in Henrietta, Texas, on March 29, 1946. Following their marriage, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas. She has also lived in England, Turkey and Wichita Falls, Texas, before moving to Tecumseh in 1964.

She and her husband owned Brightwell Auto Supply. She was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and her husband on July 19, 1996.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Jim Eidson of Blue Springs, Mo.; Lynne and Steve Young of Tecumseh; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and AnnEll Brightwell of Madison, N.C.; three sisters, Theda Holloway of Roanoke, Texas; and Bettie Cannon and Vickie Fishburn, both of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Dortha Laughlin of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Bentley officiating. Burial is 3:30 p.m. at Molsbee Cemetery in Nocona, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Ina Pearl (Kelin) Pritchard

Lifelong Shawnee area resident Ina Pearl (Kelin) Pritchard died Thursday. She was 87.

She was born Nov. 17, 1911, in the Johnson Community to Lawrence and Maude (Batey) Kelin and attended Prairie Valley Schools.

She married Vinson "V.J." Pritchard in Tecumseh on Sept. 13, 1929. She was a lifelong resident of the Tecumseh/Shawnee area, was homemaker and a beautician for many years.

She and her husband owned and operated a ranch in the Tecumseh/Shawnee area, raising registered Hereford cattle.

She was a longtime member of the Westside Church of Christ of Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 20, 1996; two sisters, Lucille Miller and Gela Ellison Miller, and two brothers, Wilbur and Laverne Kelin.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Danny Valenzuela of Benton, Ark.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jack and Betty Pritchard of Stillwater; Johnny and Patsy Pritchard, and Jim and Wanda Pritchard, all of Shawnee; three sisters, Yolanda Crane of Chico, Calif.; Glendoris Barnes of Pittsburg, Calif.; Joann Mitchell of Concord, Calif.; brother, Guthel Kelin of Red Bluff, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Harry Cobb of Wedowee, Ala., officiating. Burial is at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Eddie Andrew Haworth

Eddie Andrew Haworth, Seminole, died Saturday. He was 50.

Haworth was born Nov. 3, 1948, in Wewoka to Milton Haworth and Gracie Stockham Haworth. He was a long-time Seminole resident, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He married Peggie Sue (Wheat) Haworth on Aug. 24, 1971, in Seminole.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Sue Haworth of the home; two sons, Eric Haworth and David Haworth of Seminole; two daughters, Ginger Haworth and Pamela Haworth of Seminole; four brothers, Teddie Haworth, Rick Haworth, David Haworth, and Jeff Haworth, all of Seminole; two sisters, Sharon Morris of Stillwater, and Janet Streets of Seminole.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday at Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Lorene Richardson

Lorene Richardson of Shawnee died Thursday. She was 65.

She was born April 3, 1933, in Tecumseh to Lenord Joseph and Mary Viola (Dollins) Hail.

She married Ronnie Richardson on June 4, 1984, in Nashville Tenn. She worked as a supply technician at Tinker Air Force Base, and lived in and around Shawnee all her life.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Surviving are her husband, Ronnie Richardson of Shawnee; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Darian and Teresa Richardson, of Jones; Aaron Richardson of Shawnee; Arlie Abbott of Norman; Ben and Annette Abbott of Broken Arrow; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Phillip Rehrig of Del City; two sisters, Irene Hudson of Lexington; Nadine Hail of Shawnee; and eight grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Christine Cope

Christine Cope of Shawnee died Friday in a local hospital. She was 89.

She was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Shawnee to George F. Northcutt and Dora (Groce) Northcutt. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School and was a homemaker.

She married Bill Cope on Dec. 14, 1928, in Shawnee and was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Shawnee. She lived in the Shawnee area most of her life.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1970, and two brothers, J. Fletcher Northcutt and George Northcutt.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, George and Erona Cope of Shawnee; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Charles Nelson, of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Louise Ross of Oklahoma City; Mary Cramer of Great Falls, Mont.; four grandsons and wives, Daniel Cope of Enid; Mike and Tina Cope of Shawnee; James Kevin Cope of Shawnee; and Dr. David and Sherry Nelson of Houston, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Jerry L. Whiteman

Jerry L. Whiteman died Friday. He was 53.

He was born in Goodwater, Okla., on Jan. 18, 1946, to Lee and Delcic (Pursell) Whiteman.

Whiteman retired after serving many years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Horton Chapel and American Legion Post 16.

His father and one daughter, Peggy Whiteman, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Whiteman; three sons, Larry Jennings; Jerry Jennings and James Jennings, all of Meeker; three daughters, Doreen Day of Biloxi, Miss.; Reda Huffman of Midwest City; and Barbara Norman of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Franklin Whiteman and Kenneth Whiteman, both of Goodwater; two sisters, Shirlene Loucks and Irene Whiteman, both of Goodwater; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Roseville Cemetery with Dwain Young officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Adelia Landes

Adelia Landes of Shawnee died Thursday in a local nursing home. She was 87.

She was born Dec. 22, 1911, in McAlester to H.I. and Beulah Mae Aston. She attended McAlester Schools and graduated from McAlester High School in 1928.

She married Richard "Dick" Landes in 1936 and was a member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in McAlester.

She lived in McAlester most of her life, and moved to Shawnee in 1996 to be near her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband; a twin sister, Aurelia Bland, and a brother, H.I. Aston Jr.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Skip" and Nancy Landes of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Rick Landes and Stephen Landes, both of Shawnee; David and Michelle Landes of Broken Arrow; Andy Landes of Shawnee; three great-great grandchildren, Katie and Kenny Landes of Shawnee and Noah Landes of Broken Arrow; two sisters-in-law, Faye Woodall of California and Loyt Landes of Indiana; five nephews, Jack Berry of McAlester; Dick Bland of Sand Springs; Phillip Bland of Massachusetts, and H.I. Aston III of Tulsa; and Bill Nelson of McAlester.

Viewing will be at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel until 9:30 a.m. Monday and the family will have visitation at Bishop Funeral Home in McAlester from noon until 2 p.m. Monday.

Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester with the Rev. Dick Bland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
