Charles Ray Mashburn

Charles Ray Mashburn of Stroud died Thursday at Mercy Health Center. He was 45.

He was born June 8, 1953, in Chandler to Charles C. Mashburn and Dottie Jordan Mashburn.

He was an oil field worker and married Joleta Avery in Depew, Okla., on Dec. 26, 1973.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving are his wife, Joleta; his sons, Charles Ray Mashburn of Stroud; and James Mashburn of Little Rock, Ark.; a daughter, Shannan Graves of Oklahoma City; brothers, Mike Mashburn of Woodland, Calif.; and Randy Mashburn of Kellyville, Okla.; sisters, Sandra Antelope of Drumright; Pamela Cheatwood of Okemah; Mary Hodge, Kendrick, Okla.; Kathy Hurst of Pell City, Ala.; Judy Hyde of Stroud; Bobbie Thompson of Depew; and two grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Deer Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dorcy Hightower officiating. Burial is at Black Cemetery in Stroud.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Virginia Perkins McKinney

Former Shawnee resident Virginia Perkins McKinney of Palestine, Texas died Saturday. She was 74.

She was born in Ardmore on May 13, 1924. She was a sorority house mother at the University of Oklahoma. She lived in Shawnee during the 1960s and 1970s.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, and her parents, John Henry Perkins and Dixie Coleman Perkins.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Tonye McKinney of Palestine, Texas; a son, Mike McKinney of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Ada Joplin, of Tishomingo; a special grandson, Christopher Dale Vickers.

Services are 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Bates-Cooper-Robison Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Burial is at Lone Star Cemetery in Cookville, Texas.

The family requests donations to the Hospice of East Texas, 3800 Paluxy, Suite 560, Tyler, Texas, 75703.

Stella Susan Smith

Harrah resident Stella Susan Smith died Friday. She was 56.

Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Howard.

She graduated from Putnam City High School Central in 1961. She also attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She was employed at Dillard's for 15 years.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Carl R. Smith, of the home; father, R.E. Howard, Bethany; brother, Charles Howard, Enid; sister, Peggy Ann Kitchens, Oklahoma City; daughter, Ann-Marie Ruschenberg, Harrah; stepdaughters, Carla Cargile and her husband, Rob; Connie Watson; stepson, Greg Smith; three grandsons and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harrah United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Charles Ray Mashburn

Longtime Stroud resident Charles Ray Mashburn died Thursday in Oklahoma City. He was 45.

Mashburn was born in Chandler on June 8, 1953, to Charles C. and Dottie (Jordan) Mashburn. He and Joleta were married Dec. 26, 1973. He worked in the oil fields.

Survivors include his wife, Joleta Mashburn, of the home; two sons, Charles Ray Mashburn, Stroud; James Mashburn, Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Shannan Graves, Oklahoma City; two granddaughters; mother, Dottie Mashburn, Stroud; brothers, Mike Mashburn, Woodland, Calif.; Randy Mashburn, Kellyville; sisters, Sandra Antelope, Drumright; Pamela Cheatwood, Okemah; Mary Hodge, Kendrick; Kathy Hurst, Pell City, Ala.; Judy Hyde, Stroud; Bobbie Thompson, Depew; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Deer Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Black Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles C. Mashburn.

Clifford Leon Johnson

Clifford Leon Johnson died Monday. He was 52.

He was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Shawnee to Tommy and Esther Johnson.

He was married to Shasa Darlene Montgomery. His brother Robert preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene of the home; his mother, Esther Johnson of Shawnee; his father and wife, Tommy and Rose Johnson of Weokie, Okla.; four sisters, Izora Wigley of Denver, Colo.; Brenda Banks of Shawnee; Lekisha and Debra of Weokie; seven brothers, Tommy Jr. of California; Wayne Johnson of Tulsa; Jerome, Rodney, Leonard, Tracy and Richard, all of Weokie; four stepsons, Ron, Terry, Val Gene and Jeff Bass of Missouri; grandmother Malinda Nash of Oklahoma City; two aunts, Mary McElhanan, and Verdi Mae Long of Oklahoma City; other relatives and friends.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Galilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Burnett officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Temple and Sons Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.

Austin Gage Toone

Austin Gage Toone of Shawnee died Thursday. He was 2 days old.

He was born March 16 in Oklahoma City to Grover Cleveland "Trey" Toone III and Barbara Mae (Alexander) Toone.

Surviving are his parents; one brother, Veir Toone of the home; a grandmother and grandfather, G.C. and Jane Toone of Shawnee; grandmother, Janet Anderson, Shawnee; grandfather, Jerry Alexander of Shawnee; great grandparents, Barbara Alexander of Shawnee; Jack Alexander of Wichita Falls, Texas; Mary Bond of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two uncles, Travis Toone of Shawnee; Daniel Alexander, Shawnee; and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services are 4 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Whittaker officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Carol Jean Cranford

Carol Jean Cranford of Shawnee died Wednesday. She was 59.

She was born Dec. 16, 1939, to C.H. "Pat" Patterson and Gladys (Meyers) Patterson.

She graduated from Shawnee High School, attended Oklahoma Baptist University and worked as an insurance agent for Multi-County Insurance Center of Shawnee.

She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee, and has lived in Shawnee most of her life.

Her parents, one brother, and one sister preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Brian W. Cranford of Shawnee; stepchildren, Jay Cranford of Chicago, Ill.; Brett Cranford of California; Jeffrey Cranford of Oklahoma City; Janee McFerrin of Arkansas; a grandson, Matthew Cranford of Moore; stepgrandchildren, Kailee Kimrey of Arkansas; Haston Chase McFerrin of Arkansas; Christopher Cranford of Spain; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Jerry Cranford of Shawnee.

The family has designated the American Cancer Society as appropriate for memorials.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Rev Phil Thompson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Evelyn Irene Hester

Evelyn Irene Hester died Wednesday in Seminole. She was 81.

Mrs. Hester was born July 21, 1917, in Oilton to Don and Twyla (Fry) Cline. She married W.M. Hester on Oct. 29, 1939.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God in Little.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Hester, Sylvia, Kan.; Harvey Hester and Wesley Hester Jr., both of Seminole; daughters, Charlene Brookshire, Prague; Jean Newport, Midwest City; brothers, Donald Cline and Jackie Cline, both of Seminole; sister, Betty Hester, Seminole; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on June 16, 1995; and her parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God, Little, with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Anthony C. Vaccaro

Edmond resident Anthony C. Vaccaro died Thursday in Oklahoma City. He was 58.

Vaccaro was born Oct. 16, 1940, in Neptune, N.J., to Antonio and Catherine (Pesapone) Vaccaro. He married Carol Lamar on Oct. 27, 1973, in New Jersey. He was a retired jeweler.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Vaccaro, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dorene Vaccaro, New Jersey; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jerry Wyckoff and Kathy and Adam Kasper, all of New Jersey; Cynthia and Red Taylor, Oklahoma; father, Antonio Vaccaro, New Jersey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alberta and Nick Nicoella, New Jersey; Cathy and Tony Petzitillo, Arizona; sister-in-law and her husband, Pam and Gene Liga, Edmond; seven grandchildren, Melanie Lisitski, Kacie and Jennifer Admire, Lacey Wyckoff, Caitlin and Ashlee Kasper and Kristina Beck; one great-grandson, Henry Lisitski; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, Lee Siegel.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, with Rev. Laurel Neal officiating.

Fannie Long

Former Trousdale resident Fannie Long, 93, died Tuesday in Napa, Calif.

She was born July 8, 1905, in Trousdale, Indian Territory, to George A. and Cora Livvix Gregson.

She is survived by a nephew and his wife, Harold and Ruby Gregson, Napa, Calif.; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Glen and Eloise Gregson of Denison, Texas, and Roy Gregson, Shawnee; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Eleanor Fincher of Chandler, Ariz., and Norman and Wyman Catlege, Talihina, Okla.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Long was a member of Citizen Potawatomi Nation and was the great-granddaughter of Jude and Katharine Bourassa.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Society.

Guindol Faye West

Guindol Faye "Guin" West of Seminole died Thursday at her home. She was 70.

Born Aug. 20, 1930, in Blue Mountain, Ark., she was the daughter of Jack Sandlin and Freda (Smith) Sandlin.

Mrs. West, a Seminole County resident since 1959, was owner and operator of Treasure House Pawn Shop in Seminole from 1980 to 1985. She also worked at Pat's Cafe.

She was married June 27, 1948, in Seminole to Joe West, who preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1993.

Mrs. West was a member of the First Christian Church.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, J.W. Sandlin, and her sister, Betty Ward.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Debbie and Wayne King of Midwest City; Cathy Moreland of Pauls Valley; three grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Nathan Hill; Amanda and Stephen Lewis; Shannon and Robin Powers; four great-grandchildren, Logan Powers, Nicole Hill, Ashleigh Hill and Shawnna Lewis.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

Mason Merick Garretson

Mason Merick Garretson died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. The Tribbey resident was 89.

He was born Aug. 6, 1911, in Granite, the son of W.C. "Bill" and Nellie (Bartlett) Garretson. He had lived in the Macomb and Tribbey areas since he was 3 years old.

He was married Oct. 28, 1933, in Hobart to Ressie Klinglesmith, who preceded him in death Oct. 18, 1997.

Garretson was a retired Pottawatomie County supervisor of road and bridge construction. He was a member of Tribbey Baptist Church.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; his sons, Conrad Merick Garretson and Frank Garretson; grandchildren, James Garretson; Kelly Hobbs and Merick Hobbs; sons-in-law, Ray Haynes and Don Farris; three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Alice Farris of Noble; Marcia and Dale Haynes of Lexington; Wilma and Bub Hobbs of Wanette, and Janice Haynes of Norman; four sons and five daughters-in-law, Doug and Linda Garretson of Del City; James and Linda Garretson of Tribbey; Bill and Imogene Garretson of Moore; Charlie and Beth Garretson of Macomb, and Barbara Garretson of Tecumseh; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bella Langloss of Albany, Texas, and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh. Leslie "Spooter" Smith and the Rev. Jim Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Old Moral Cemetery.
