Iva Mae Forsberg

Former Shawnee resident Iva Mae Forsberg died Saturday. She was 92.

She is survived by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a daughter, Barbara Collins of Topeka, Kan.; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Ted Good of Topeka, Kan.; daughter Donna Schimmerhorn of Rialto, Calif.; two sons, Robert L. Forsberg of Topeka, Kan., and Don D. Forsberg of Shawnee.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Penwel Gable Funeral Home in Topeka, Kan. Burial will be Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Eldee McKinney

Eldee McKinney of Davis died Saturday in Pauls Valley. She was 89.

She was born Dec. 22, 1909, in Tahlequah to Andy Post and Parilee Steeley. She moved to Pawhuska after marrying Rufus McKinney on Jan. 31, 1927, in Tahlequah. They moved to Sperry, Okla., Fairfax, Okla., and then Perry, Okla., before moving to Davis where she lived the last 30 years. She was a Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father; and five sisters.

Surviving are three daughter and sons-in-law, Juanita and Harold Sutton, Imogene and Richard McNett and Wanda Dowell, all of Davis; and son-in-law Frank Cappleman of Farmington N.M.; a brother, Billy Post of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Carrie Mahaney and Anne Teehee, both of Tahlequah; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cowley-Krien Funeral Chapel in Davis with the Rev. John Joughin officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Willis Carpenter

Prague resident Willis Carpenter died Sunday in Prague. He was 71.

Carpenter was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Welty, Okla., to Sam William and Lillie (Lacquement) Carpenter. He married Myrtle Nolan on Dec. 24, 1947.

Carpenter worked in the oil field as a driller and tool pusher and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 11 in Prague.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Carpenter of the home; daughter, Donna Jean Kubicek, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana E. "Bodie" and Steve Quary, Prague, Juanita "Nita" and Bob Gregory, Maud, and Jenny and Roger Collins, Prague; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ollie Carpenter, Prague; three brothers, Robert Carpenter, Prague, Calvin Carpenter, Cromwell, and John Carpenter, Shawnee; sister, Juanita Ellison, Prague; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren who will be born soon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and one son-in-law, Rick Kubicek.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating.

Ruthie May Frost

Longtime McLoud resident Ruthie May Frost died Saturday in Shawnee. She was 86.

Mrs. Frost was born June 26, 1912, in Wellston, Okla., to John and Eliza (Abney) Fowler. She married Willie E. Frost on July 20, 1932.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Hillside Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Lee and Jane Frost, Carlsbad, N.M., Edgar Paul and Mary Ann Frost, Johnie and Shirley Marie Frost, David and Ann Frost and Roger and Vicky Frost, all of McLoud, and Billy and Mary Frost, Piedmont; son, Hal Frost, McLoud; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Martin Holler, Clearwater, Kan., Patsy and Steven Geer, Edmond; Virginia and Pete Landrum, McLoud; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Sherman Hall, Meeker, and Lillian and Charles Eden, Cushing; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 7, 1971; her parents, two brothers; and one son, Joe Dee Frost.

Viewing will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Meeker, until 8:30 a.m. today. Services will be 10 a.m. today at Hillside Baptist Church, McLoud, with the Rev. Tuney Ropp officiating. Burial will follow in Jamison Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Recel Hartle

Lifelong Okfuskee resident Recel Hartle died Sunday at his home north of Okemah. He was 74.

Hartle was born June 25, 1924, north of Okemah to Clark Elmer and Dora Friend Hartle. He married Pat Burleson. She died in 1987. After her death, he married Retha Zanzant on May 6, 1988.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a rancher and owner of Hartle's Service Station for about 40 years. He was a member of the Okemah Freewill Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, IOOF Lodge and a 50-year member of the Okemah American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Retha Hartle of the home; daughters, Sharron Sullivan and Susan Martin, both of Moore; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Don Rich and Bro. Charles Stotts officiating. Burial will be in Welty Cemetery.

Lori Ann Baker Fletcher

Shawnee resident Lori Ann Baker Fletcher died Sunday. She was 31.

Mrs. Fletcher was born May 29, 1968, in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Shawnee High School and was employed by Shawnee Regional Hospital Home Health.

Survivors include her parents, Karen and Gene Reed, Shawnee, and David and Sandy Baker, Norman; three sons, Zachery, Lucas and Joseph Fletcher, all of the home; brother, Matthew Reed, Glendale, Calif.; sisters, Marcy Smith, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jennifer Caldwell, Edmond; grandfather, Albert Leger, Madill; and grandmother, Rita Reed, Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Wayne Reed; grandparents, Kenneth and Hazel Baker; grandmother, Jessie Leger; and grandfather, George Reed.

Services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Dollie May

Shawnee resident Dollie "Nannie" May died Monday in a local nursing home. She was 92.

She was born May 30, 1907, in Maud to C.A. and Harriett Youts, and grew up in Ray City, Okla.

She married C.E. "Ed" May on Sept. 8, 1926, in Tecumseh.

Mrs. May was a charter member of the Golden Acres Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer and taught Sunday school.

She lived in the Shawnee area most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed May on Jan. 24, 1979; four sons, James F. May, George A. May, and twins, Bobby Jack May and Billy Joe May; great-grandson, Brian Newell; and her parents, C.A. and Harriett Youts.

Survivors include her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ercel and Roy Brown, Tecumseh, Kathryn Waller, Oklahoma City, and Mary and Del Chancellor, Shawnee; sister-in-law, Mauzee Youts; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee with the Rev. Tom Hall of Golden Acres Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Estella Vivian Stevens

Estella Vivian Stevens died Friday. She was 97.

She was born April 14, 1902, in Hess, Okla., to Thomas Jefferson Bogle and Maggie Lee Briscoe Bogle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Julius Olvin Stevens.

Survivors include her daughters, Cora Breedlove, Oklahoma City, Vivian Humphrey, Edmond, and Jean Schaefer, Bethany; sons, Treamon Stevens, Alcova, Wyo., Buck Stevens, Oakley, Calif., and Charles Sanders, Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Guardian North Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Guardian Northside Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Marjorie James

Marjorie "Marge" James of Harrah died Saturday. She was 76.

She was born April 6, 1923, in Harris, Kan., to Albert and Floy (Hollette) Krause.

She married Jesse F. James June 2, 1982, at their home.

Survivors include her husband Jesse of the home; son, John Keegan, Harrah; daughters, Nancy Wilcox, Oklahoma City, and Linda Lamascus, Broken Arrow; stepchildren, Karen Nichols, Wynnewood, Denise Hagawara, Oklahoma City, and Patrick James, Moore; brothers, Gerald Krause, Oregon, and Dale Krause, Massachusetts; six granddaughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, James A. Keegan.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church, Harrah. Burial will be at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Dortha Poynter

Dortha "Dink" Poynter of McLoud died Saturday. She was 71.

She was born to George and Bertah (Easley) Eaton in Byars, Okla.

She is survived by her husband L.N. Poynter of the home; two sons, David Chadwick of Texas and Dwight Chadwick of Edmond; two daughters, Toni Lemons of Harrah and Darla Basinger of Newcastle; one sister, Vaudie Irving of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Jerry Eaton of California and Dick Eaton of Newalla; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Alexander Gregg Cooper

Alexander Gregg Cooper of Oklahoma City died Friday at a local nursing home. He was 76.

He was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Frederick. He was the son of Alexander Garrett Cooper and Esther (May) Cooper.

Cooper was a 1942 graduate of Shawnee High School. He was an electrical lineman and he retired after 38 years of service.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Cooper was married on Dec. 6, 1945, to June Williams in Shawnee.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He served on the USS Mississippi battleship and received the Presidential Citation for action in the Philippines Island. During his service career, he survived nine major battles and 14 engagements in the Pacific fleet.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Cooper was a Baptist. He had lived in Oklahoma City for the past 40 years and the last two months he lived in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ernest Gregg Cooper and Debby Cooper, Arlington, Texas, and Gary Brant Cooper, Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren, Patrick Cooper, Wendi June Cooper Smith, Mickey Casey Cooper, Christopher Dale Cooper, Sarah Kathleen Cooper, Megan Elizabeth Cooper, Matthew Lewis, Daniel Lewis and Kimberly Lewis; one brother and sister-in-law, James Edward and Betty Cooper, Perryton, Texas; four sisters, Mary Cooper McClure of Midwest City; Eloise Cooper McMurtrey of Duncan; Elaine Cooper Ellis of Shawnee and Margie Cooper Wilson of Oklahoma City, sister-in-law, Joyce Cooper of Duncan and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe D. Finn officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family has designated Hospice of Shawnee as appropriate for memorial contributions.

William H. Rageth Jr.

Chandler resident William Henry "Bill" Rageth Jr. died Sunday in Chandler. He was 88.

Rageth was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Hamburg, Iowa to William Henry and Sena (Fletcher) Rageth. He married Mattie Driever on Jan. 6, 1937, at Tecumseh, Neb.

He had lived in the Chandler area since 1943 when he bought Central Drug Store and worked there until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chandler.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Rageth, Chandler; brother, Keith Rageth, Iowa City, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Cheryl Rageth, Denver, Colo.; two nephews; two great-nephews; one great-niece; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with the Rev. Harold Pederson-Rambo officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. at IOOF Cemetery, Watonga.
