Leota Estelle Lowe Conner Humphreys

Leota Estelle Lowe Conner Humphreys died Tuesday in Shawnee at the age of 74.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Atoka Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Crowson and Mary Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Farris Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 23, 1924, at Daisy, Okla., the daughter of Frank Marion Lowe and Maggie Louzadie Faulkenberry.

She married John Conner in Atoka in 1945 and was a homemaker.

She married Leonard Humphreys in 1956 in Oklahoma City. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were both husbands; her parents; her son, Frank Wesley "Butchie" Conner, and brother, Frank Lowe Jr.

Surviving are her seven children and their spouses, Nancy and David Franks, Okemah; Glenn and Gail Conner, Lester and Evelyn Conner, all of Oklahoma City; Leonard and Kay Humphreys, Danny and Sandy Humphreys, all of Shawnee; Wanda and Robert Cast, Mustang; Cheryl and Gary Reynolds, Tonganoxie, Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Virgil Smithart, Tushka, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Stella Marie Weber

Stella Marie Weber died Wednesday in Stroud at the age of 77.

She was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Warwick, the daughter of James and Della (Lynch) Sullivan. She married Otto Weber in Wellston on June 6, 1942, and was a homemaker. She had lived in Stroud since 1983.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Otto, in 1970; her parents, four brothers and six sisters.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Rita Weber, Chandler; daughter, Laura Weber, Chandler; sister, Claudette Hobbs, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rossville Cemetery with the Rev. Doyle Seeling officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud. Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Parks Chapel in Stroud and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Parks Chapel in Chandler.

Carl Henry Durst Sr.

Carl Henry Durst Sr., Macomb, died Sunday at the age of 60.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Newman Funeral Home of Grantsville, Md., with the Rev. Steven Lightner officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery. Local arrangements were under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

He was born July 5, 1938, in Sutton, Md., the son of George and Mary Durst. He married Mildred Warren in Grantsville, Md., on Dec. 30, 1992. He was reared in Maryland and moved to Oklahoma in 1994. He had been a truck driver for R&R Trucking of Joplin, Mo., and had been in the trucking business for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Durst, of the home; daughter, Donna Durst, Frostberg, Md.; son, Carl H. Durst Jr., West Virginia; sister, Lillian Guthrie, Frostberg, Md., and brother, Bill Durst, Chesapeake, Md.

Dell Scott

Macomb resident Dell Scott died Tuesday at his home. He was 84.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Romulus Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Witten officiating.

Scott was born May 27, 1914, in Romulus to Andy and Mary (Coleman) Scott. He married Bell Hargus on March 17, 1933, in Lexington.

He was an oil field worker, rancher and farmer and had lived in the Macomb area all his life.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Scott, Macomb; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tom Early, Harrah; Louise and Bill Baine, Macomb; daughter, Jane Scott, Tecumseh; two grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie Brentlinger, Wichita, Kan.; and Pearl Cotton, Lawton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother.

Winey (Marpiyecher) Ellis

Winey (Marpiyecher) Ellis of Tecumseh died Friday. She was 87.

She was born Nov. 22, 1912, in Sasakwa. She was the daughter of Lousanna Harjo and Josie Marpiyecher.

She attended Chilocco Indian Schools. Mrs. Ellis was reared in the Konawa area.

She moved to Shawnee in the 1940s and had resided in the Shawnee area since.

She married Willie B. Ellis. He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1972.

During World War II, she worked at Douglas Aircraft Plant. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Indian Sanitorium in Shawnee.

A licensed practical nurse for more than 30 years, she worked with the Indian Health Services and became Tribal Clinic LPN. She was a member of the Seminole Nation, and the Oklahoma Nurse's Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Theodore "Ted" Watson; her parents; one stepson, Willie B. Ellis Jr. and one stepdaughter, Mary Lee (Ellis) Tall Chief.

Survivors include two sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel and Frankie Watson of Earlsboro; Leroy and Henryetta Ellis of Tecumseh; Jo Ann Watson of Tecumseh; one brother, Benny Wildcat of Seminole; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Arthur Carpitcher, Pentecostal Church of God, Konawa, officiating. Burial will be at Bird Creek Indian Baptist Church, Cemetery, Konawa.

George Robert Hill Sr.

George Robert Hill Sr. died Wednesday in Shawnee. He was 72.

He was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Shawnee. He was the son of Robert E. and Alma A. (Fraiser) Hill.

Hill had lived in the Chandler area most of his life.

He married Wilma Jane Toles in El Reno, on July 28, 1951. He was a farmer and rancher.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Chandler. Hill served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Hill of the home; three sons and wives, George R. and Beth Hill of Kendrick; Roy and Jenny Hill of Guthrie; Wayne and Karla Hill of Chandler; four daughters and husbands, Bobbye Hill of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Wilma Louise Hill of Stroud; Sandy and Will LeMaster of Oklahoma City; Barbara and Lee Mooy of Sparks; two brothers, Charles E. Hill of Oklahoma City and Richard L. Hill of Piedmont; three sisters, Marie Larance of Edmond; Edda Lanoutte of Oklahoma City; Eva Louvon of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Chandler, with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating, burial will follow at the Kendrick Cemetery, Kendrick, under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

June Elizabeth Legg

June Elizabeth Legg died Thursday. She was 73.

She was born June 15, 1926, in Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of James and Bertha (Thorne) McFarland.

She attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and while there played tournament tennis. She married Gerald Legg on July 8, 1946.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Cary and Debbie Legg, Prague; Michael Legg, Prague; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Randy Mayfield, Prague; Lisa and Louis Devereaux, Prague; two sisters, BenaDee Rhodes, Hondo, Texas; Coleen Tully, Shawnee; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Aaron Brock officiating.

Mary Trlica

Mary Trlica died Friday in Prague. She was 93.

She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Prague. She was the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Bouda) Klabzuba.

Mrs. Trlica had been a resident of Prague since 1979. She worked at Yukon Mills and was a member of WFLA No. 67 in Yukon.

She married Frank Trlica in November of 1934. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1957.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three sisters, Anna Sestak, Prague; Lillie Tatyrek, Carrollton, Texas; Emma Holasek, Norman; several nieces and nephews including Richard Sestak, Prague.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Katherine Deloris (Hargus) Griffith

Katherine Deloris (Hargus) Griffith of Macomb died Friday. She was 69.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Romulus Cemetery. Further arrangements will be made by Cooper Funeral Home.

Woodrow Wilson Stapp

Woodrow Wilson Stapp died Thursday at an Okmulgee hospital following an extended illness. He was 82.

He was born April 29, 1917, in Pink to P.K. Stapp and Dora Wilson Stapp. He moved as a child with his family to the Hot Water community north of Dustin.

In 1941, he was married to Willine Hill and they made their home near Ragtown. In the mid 1940s they bought a place east of Wetumka where he spent his life farming, ranching and digging water wells.

He moved to Henryetta in December 1998 due to ill health.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include wife, Willine of Henryetta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Karen Stapp of Wetumka and Richard and Sandy Stapp of Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Kenneth Jones of Dewar; a half-brother, James Stapp of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Buckley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Finis Pack officiating. Burial will be in the Wetumka Cemetery, under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.

Macel O. Hooper

Longtime Shawnee resident Macel O. Hooper died Tuesday at a local nursing home. She was 91.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Moore and the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Macel O. Hooper was born Sept. 10, 1907, in Magazine, Ark., the daughter of Matthew Elliott and Laura Isabel Jackson Hooper. She graduated from Fort Smith High School in Arkansas. She moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1946 and owned Mode O'Day clothing store there for several years. She worked for S.H. Kress and Boston's in Fort Smith and also was a seamstress. She was a member of the Fort Smith First Baptist Church for more than 20 years.

She moved to the Shawnee area in 1976 and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Women on Mission, T'N'T (Time and Talent) senior adult group and the Lilac Garden Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Carmen Corley and Reba Fine; and brothers, Kermit Hooper and Hostie Hooper.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Ruth Hooper, Shawnee; nephews, Eddy Hooper, Edmond, Doyle Hooper, Arizona, and Floyd Corley Jr., Vinita, and great-nephew, Joe Corley, Miami.
