Tillie Izetta Allison

Tillie Izetta Allison, 84, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Izetta was born Feb. 23, 1921 in Fallis to Harry and Josphine (Hoover) Stanbrough. She married Claude Edward Crenshaw, who died serving his country. Izetta later married R.D. Allison on June 17, 1946 at the local park in Cushing.

She served her family as a homemaker. Izetta loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Ray and Diane Crenshaw of Backus, Min. Gary and Evelyn Crenshaw of Coyle; three daughters, Patricia and Grant Praytor of Atoka, Kay and Billy Gregory of Stillwater, Gayle and Fred Jones of Agra; five sisters, Bonnie Hurst of Cleveland, Ohio, Lorena Miller of Lucerne, Calif., Wilda Smart of Mountain View, Ark., Ruth Stephens of Claflin, Kansas and Barbara Landis of Edmond; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, three sons, James, Ronald and Larry, and a daughter, Linda Sue, four brothers and two sisters.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home, 5106 N. Washington, Stillwater. The Rev. Donald Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Harold Otis Burns

Harold Otis Burns, age 80 of Perry, Oklahoma formerly of Cushing died on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at the Perry Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Chapel, Cushing. Services are entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Harold was born on June 19, 1925 in Ferrisburg, VT to Jane A. (Lawrence) and Asa E. Burns. He was a trucker driver for over 18 years. Harold moved to Cushing in 1973. He attended the Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harold Otis Burns, age 80 of Perry, Okla. formerly of Cushing died on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at the Perry Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Chapel, Cushing. Services are entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Lyman M. Brown

Lyman M. Brown of rural Stillwater passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 in Stillwater Medical Center after an extended illness.

The son of Lyman C. & Bessie White Brown, he was born May 15, 1941 in the Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He attended grade school in Ft. Worth and Brownwood, TX and graduated in 1959 from high school in Alamogordo, NM. During high school, he worked part time at Hamilton Funeral Home in Alamogordo and became interested in funeral service. He attended East Central State College in Ada, OK and later graduated from Dallas Institute-Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science in Dallas, TX. He was a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Oklahoma and Missouri.

A former employee of Strode Funeral Home; he was also later employed by Smith Funeral Home in Guthrie, OK and Knittel Funeral Home in Mooreland, OK. While working in Stillwater, he met his wife, Jo Anne Kerntke, and they were later married September 8, 1964 at Ft. Lee, VA. A veteran of the U.S. Army and the Vietnam War; he was stationed for the majority of his term of military service at Ft. Myers near Washington D.C. where he worked at the receiving vault in Arlington National Cemetery serving in the capacity of Funeral Director for services held for deceased veterans and other individuals who met the qualifications to be buried there.

In 1969 he purchased the Shidler Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Shidler, OK later selling it to Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, OK. While living in Shidler, he served as the Funeral Director in charge for the movement of the Washunga Cemetery near Kaw City, OK to its current location near Newkirk due to the building of the Kaw Lake which necessitated the relocation of the cemetery. He later purchased Fitch Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, MO and sold it in 1991 due to increasing health problems. While living in Poplar Bluff, he also formed Fitch Ambulance Service operating it for several years later selling it to one of the local Medical Centers. It was known as one of the first ambulance services to employ female EMT's.

Mr. Brown was a former member of the Board of Directors of Southern Missouri Savings Bank and the SEMO Investment Club in Poplar Bluff, MO, a former member of Kiwanis International and had served as the VP and past President of the local club in Poplar Bluff. He served as Kiwanis Lt. Governor of Division XIV in 1985-86. He also served as a past District Director of the Missouri Funeral Directors Association and was awarded a certificate for outstanding service to the Missouri Funeral Directors Association in 1987. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and prior to his illness, had served in various capacities as a member of the United Methodist Men, Scout Master, and Administrative Board as well as serving as an usher for Sunday services. He also served on the Citizens Advisory Board for Doctors Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Later, moving to Stillwater, he became a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne of the home, his daughter Julie and her husband Kevin Goins of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren, Cody and John, also of Springfield; one sister, Joyce Lotz of Seattle, WA; and one brother, Keith Brown of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only son, Joe, in 2003.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at St. Leo's Cemetery in Cushing, OK with the Rev. Andrew Hall officiating. Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater, OK is in charge of arrangements.

Howard Owens

Howard Owens, age 91 of Cushing, died on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at the Cushing Regional Hospital in Cushing.

Howard was born on Feb. 10th, 1915 in the Yale community to Walter and Dora Jane Stockstill Owens. He was a graduate of the Norfolk High School. He married Belle Losey on Nov. 15, 1936. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1986. Howard married Dorothy Rhodes of Cushing on Feb. 18, 1989.

Howard worked in the Cushing area in the oil support service. He was transferred to Konawa, Okla. in 1964 and then to Magnolia, Arkansas in 1968. He retired from Ethel Corporation in 1985 and moved back to Cushing.

Howard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cushing and the Cimarron Sam's RV Good Sam Club.

Howard is survived by his wife of 17 years, Dorothy Owens of the home; three children, a son James Howard Owens and wife Mary Lou of Mustang, Oklahoma, a daughter Carol Sue Allred and husband Dr. Robert Allred M.D. of Harker Heights, Texas and a son Dr. Thomas Richard Owens and wife Linda of Drumright, Oklahoma; a step-son, Steve Rhodes and wife Debbie of Burkburnett, Texas; seven grandchildren, Becky Dobson and husband Bob of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Paul Allred and wife Caryn of Dallas, Texas, Teresa Isakson and husband Kyle of Grapevine, Texas, Nancy Curtis and husband Carlton of Norman, Oklahoma, Scott Allred and wife Christie of Richardson, Texas, Daniel Owens and wife Becky of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gayle Yost and husband Chad of Carrollton, Texas; step-grandson David Rhodes and wife Stacie of Paris, Tennessee; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Irvin, Calvin, John and Albert; two sisters, Eva Venable and Virgie Cullifer and one grandson, David Owens.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at 1 P.M. in the First Baptist Church, Cushing with Dr. Lonny Lee officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund in his memory.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.

Margie Kathryn (Waldman) Reedy

Funeral services for Margie Kathryn (Waldman) Reedy will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at the Parkland Church of the Firstborn.

Brother Fred Britton and Brother Richard Wright will officiate. Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla.

Margie Kathryn (Waldman) Reedy passed away on Feb. 4, 2006 at her home in Agra, Okla. She was born on June 9, 1932, in Chandler Okla., to Herschel and Blanche Waldman. She was baptized on Aug. 12, 1949 into the Church of the Firstborn, and was a graduate of Chandler High School Class of 1950.

She married Gerald Keith Reedy of Parkland, Okla. on April 14, 1956. To this union was born 4 children; Donivan Keith, Danah Kay, Darla Kenita, and Dawn Kyla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Blanche Waldman, and sister Sue Ella Waldman.

She is survived by; her husband of 49 years Gerald Reedy of the home, son Keith Reedy and wife Vicki of Knoxville TN, daughter Danah Austin and husband Benny of Agra, daughter Darla Morris and husband Brian of Delta CO, and daughter Kyla Linder and husband Jason of Agra, twelve grandchildren 4 great-grandchildren, sister Roxie Summers and husband Emmett of Sherman TX, brother John Waldman and wife Joni of Chandler, sister Pat Hutchison and husband James (Hutch) of Edmond, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Margie was a devoted daughter, loving wife and helpmate to her husband, nurturing mother and grandmother to her children, caring sister and aunt to her family, and faithful servant of God.

Mary E. Cochran

Mary E. Cochran, Yale resident, passed away on Friday evening, Feb. 3, 2006, in the Drumright Regional Hospital at the age of 87 years.

The daughter of the late Elbert Edgar Cochran and Melvina Dix Cochran, Mary was born in Kenton, Okla. and was raised in the Riverside and Norfolk area.

Mary enjoyed baking cookies, crocheting when she was younger, walking and she loved her dog, Sugar Baby.

She is survived by one brother, Melvin Cochran of Pomona, CA; numerous nephews & nieces, great nephews & nieces, great-great nieces, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Adams and Martha Childress.

Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at 2 P.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Joe Mendenhall and Sam Mendenhall officiating.

Services were under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.

Jaunice Petitt

Jaunice Petitt, age 81 of Yale, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Okla. Brother Randall Newby will officiate.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Okla.

Jaunice was born on Nov. 9, 1924 in Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to Robert Arron and Clara (Lasenberry) Roberts. Jaunice grew up in the Maysville and attended Maysville schools. Jaunice married Gale Petitt on June 18, 1953 in Oklahoma City. She was a homemaker, taking pride in raising her family.

After raising her family, she started work as a Nurses Aide at the Yale Nursing Home retiring at the age of 65. Jaunice was attended the Assembly of God. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and playing cards and bingo. Jaunice made many beautiful quilts. While raising her family, she enjoyed cooking for her family.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law: Barbara Ingram and husband Doyle of Del City, Okla., Joyce McCutcheon and husband Bill of Luther, Okla., son and daughter-in-law: Roger Petitt and wife Martha of Yale, daughter: Darlene Lasater of Yale, Ok., daughter-in-law: Debbie Wise of Perry, Ok., brother J. S. "Bug" Roberts of Shawnee, Okla., sisters: Velma McAda and husband L. A. of Houston, Texas, Rita Petitt of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lucille Shelton and husband Tommy of Pasadena, Texas., Fourteen grandchildren, Fifteen great grandchildren and Two great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband, sons: Ronnie Wise (Petitt) of Yale, Donald Wise (Petitt) of Houston, Texas, daughter: Sherry Colleen Petitt of Yale, sisters: Dorthy Crager (Petitt) and Jane Nipp (Payne) both of Yale.

The Family would like to Thank all of her friends who called on her and helped her everyday, their kindness will not be forgotten.

John F. Carter

Services for John F. Carter, age 65, of Oilton, Okla. are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Oilton, with interment in the Highland Cemetery. Services are entrusted to the Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, Oilton, Okla.

Mr. Carter was born on May 15, 1940 to John W. and Beatrice (Poole) Carter in Washington, D.C. and passed from this life on Feb. 5, 2006 in Drumright, Okla. His hobbies included fishing, watching football (OU) and loved any kind of sports. He also loved being around animals including dogs and cats.

He is survived by one son: Paul Carter of Wilson, Okla. one daughter: Gayla Carter of Wilson, Okla. four brothers: Stanley Zidtowecki and wife Mary of Plantation, Florida; Michael Carter and wife Ruth Ann of Lambertville, Michigan

Dwight Whitt and wife Olga of Swanton, Ohio; Clyde Whitt and wife Rosa Lie of Walbridge, Ohio; two sisters: Florence Jackson and husband Lee of Swanton, Ohio, Jean Yates of Oilton, Okla.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, one son, Steven Carter and grandmother, Margaret Carter.

Paul E. Rotz

Paul E. Rotz, longtime former Poteau resident now of Drumright, passed away on Friday morning, Feb. 3, 2006, in the Drumright Regional Hospital at the age of 73 years.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1932 in Chambersburg, PA. and was reared and educated in Chambersburg.

Paul was united in marriage to Nancy C. Coggins in Oct. of 1960, and to this union, two daughters, Nancy & Lisa Dawn, were born.

He had worked as an accountant for Johnson Controls for over 25 years prior to his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church; was a veteran of the United States Army; he loved to watch Pittsburg Steeler football, the University of Oklahoma football and golfing.

Survivors include his wife of over 45 years, Nancy Rotz of Drumright, OK; two daughters Nancy Jackson and her husband Bill of Drumright,OK and Lisa Dawn Rotz of Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter Mattea Jackson; one sister Vada Rotz of Chambersburg, PA; one brother Raymond Rotz of Chambersburg, PA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at 11 A.M. in the First Baptist Church, Poteau with Reverend Phil McGehee, Pastor, and Reverend Mike Murray of the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Drumright, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.

Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church, Poteau on Wednesday evening, Feb. 8, 2006 and Thursday morning, Feb. 9, 2006 prior to services.

Military services will be conducted at the Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, Cushing.
