Bobby G. Hemphill

Bobby G. Hemphill, Seminole, died Tuesday in a Seminole hospital. He was 66.

Hemphill was born July 15, 1933, in Tryon to Ray and Bessie (Smith) Hemphill.

He married Barbara Tasier on June 25, 1954, in Lindsay, Calif.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps as a sergeant during the Korean Conflict.

Hemphill worked as a field superintendent/water master with the Oakdale Irrigation District in Oakdale, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hemphill of the home; a son, Kevin Hemphill, Turlock, Calif.; brother, Wilburn Hemphill, Nevada; four sisters, Juanita Cowger, Lindsay, Calif., Florence McDaniel, Visalia, Calif., Betty Butler, Pearcy, Ark., and Shirley Bowen, Lindsay, Calif.; and a grandchild.

No services are planned. Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole is in charge of the burial.

Agatha Wilson Greeling

Agatha Wilson Greeling died Sunday in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was 79.

Mrs. Greeling was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Shawnee to Elwood and Pauline (Dickey) Wilson.

She married James Greeling in April 1946 in Shawnee. He preceded her in death in 1971.

Mrs. Greeling moved to Wichita Falls from Shawnee in 1946.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, where she played the organ and was active in Sunday school.

She was a member of a band at Midtown Manor, and was active in their ministry. Mrs. Greeling worked as a secretary.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jana and Thomas Dorman, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Valjean and Jim Sanders, Minnesota; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Elwood and Frances Wilson, Shawnee, and Glenwood and Margaret Wilson, Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, John Anderson, Melissa Mathe, Kelli Anderson, Jessie Gibson and Vanessa Dorman; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Caitlyn and Caleb.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls with the Rev. Keith Cupples officiating.

Burial will be 3 p.m. Thursday, in Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Donald W. Faulkner

Donald W. Faulkner of Shawnee died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 64.

He was born July 11, 1935, in Shawnee. He was the son of E.R. "Don" Faulkner and Wilma (Tabor) Faulkner.

He attended Shawnee Public Schools. He was in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Faulkner, Shawnee; and one cousin and spouse, Paul and Rena Gilbert, Shawnee.

Private graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park with Doyle Loveland officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Margaret V. Preston

Margaret V. Preston of Shawnee died Monday at a local hospital. She was 72.

She was born July 24, 1927, in Sasakwa. She was the daughter of Dudley Scroggins and Ollie Mae (Robbins) Scroggins.

She was a homemaker. She also worked for 12 years with Shawnee Garment Factory.

She was married to Eugene Preston on July 24, 1945, in Seminole. Mrs. Preston grew up in Sasakwa, moving to Shawnee during her last year of high school.

She lived in Shawnee most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her busband who died Jan. 7, 1985; her daughter, Gail Ann Stuard and four brothers.

Survivors include a son, Donald Gene Preston, Tuttle; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Sue Preston, Choctaw, and Phyllis Kay and Mike Ellis, Tecumseh; seven grandchildren, Cynthia L. Kibler, Gregory B. Burke, Kelli L. Townley, Clinton R. Dunavan, Crystal Dothard, Justin R. Ellis and Valerie J. Ellis; one great-grandson, Braxton Dothard; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Ben King, Shawnee.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Roland "Pedro" Butler

Roland "Pedro" Butler of Cushing died Monday at a Cushing hospital. He was 29.

He was born June 9, 1970. He was the son of George Harry Butler Sr. and Juana VanAernam Butler.

He was reared and educated in Cushing and continued to live there until his death. Butler was a member of the Native American Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Harry Butler, Sr.

Survivors include his two sons, Damion Bruce Butler and Roland Butler, Jr. of the home; his mother, Juana VanAernam Butler of Cushing; brothers and sisters, George Harry Butler, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Pawnee, Rachel Butler and her husband Tim Schexnider of Cushing, Carla J. Butler of Cushing, George Dean Butler and his wife Beverly of Cushing, Darlene Butler of Tulsa, Dewey A. Butler and his wife, Melanie of Tama, Iowa, Pearl M. Williams and her husband Jerome of Tulsa, Carl Butler II of Seagoville, Texas, and Robert Butler of Cushing; his grandfather Carl Butler of Cushing and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. today at the residence of Rachel Butler, 1005 E. Greenlee in Cushing. Sac and Fox tribal rites will be held this evening at the residence of Larry Butler Sr., seven miles south of SH 33 on SH 99, east 1.5 miles).

Graveside services will be held at the Butler Cemetery, east of Cushing, Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with Allen Butler officiating.

Jack Arthur

Jack Arthur of Seminole died Tuesday at a Shawnee hospital. He was 66.

He was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Seminole. He was the son of Edwin Arthur and Opal (Dennis) Arthur.

He lived most of his life in Seminole. He lived in Neosho, Mo., briefly as a child.

He married Dona (Creech) Arthur March 16, 1960, in Little. Arthur worked as a pumper and mechanic for Stephens and Johnson Operating Co. and Robinowitz Oil Co.

He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Seminole.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Thomasine Byler (1993).

Survivors include wife, Dona Arthur of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Greg Chilcoat of Ada; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Alice Arthur of Mountain Home, Ark.; three sisters, Ruth Hartman of Seminole, Elizabeth Newby of Poteau andMargie Neal of Bayton, Texas; two grandchildren, Lauren and Sydni Chilcoat of Ada.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ, on the corner of Park and Seminole streets. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Mayne Irene Payne

Seminole resident Mayne Irene Payne died Monday at her home. She was 80.

Mrs. Payne was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Wilburton to John McIntosh and Gertie Livona (Pitcock) McIntosh. She married Leamon Levi Payne in 1942.

She moved to Seminole in 1927 from Wilburton. She worked at Big Yank in Wewoka for several years and was member of the Seminole First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leamon L. and Phyllis E. Payne, Moore, and; D.R. Payne, Norman; grandchildren, Bryan and Brandi Payne, John and Lisa Payne and Matthew Payne; two great-grandchildren, one niece, one nephew and two great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 3, 1987.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Rex Valford Robertson

Rex Valford Robertson died Monday at his home. He was 83.

Robertson was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Wolf, Okla., to Tom and Arlice (Fowler) Robertson. He married Frances Cliflon on Dec. 23, 1939, in Seminole.

He worked as a welder at Noble Drilling in Seminole and served during World War II. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church of Letha.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bobby Azlin, Wewoka; grandchildren, Kiley and Toby Wells and their daughter, Brittnee, all of Seminole; Amanda and fiancee, Leo Moppin, Seminole; Cory Azlin, Seminole; Ron and Terri Robertson and their children, Joshua, Lacee and Jake, all of Oklahoma City; Kelye and Steve Coffaro, Fort Worth, Texas; Kathy and Mike Hale and their children, Jarod and Nicolas, all of Mustang; and his sister, Vada Robertson, Seminole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, O.H. "Buddy" Robertson; three brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

David Luther Anglin

Stroud resident David Luther Anglin, 90, died Friday in Stroud.

Anglin was born Oct. 2, 1908, in Oark, Ark., to James and Victoria (Gentry) Anglin. He married Donna Mae Aughenbaugh on Oct. 3, 1940, in Stroud.

He had lived in Stroud since 1940, moving there from Kendrick. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stroud and was self-employed as a constructor and farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Mae, of the home; son, Vernel Anglin, Bronson, Mich.; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Pat Anglin, Guthrie; sisters, Elva Stone, Talequah; Elsie McCharen, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Stroud with the Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Stroud.

William Ben Smith Jr.

Tecumseh resident William Ben Smith Jr. died Wednesday in Tecumseh. He was 76.

Smith was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Vernon, Texas, to Ben Smith Sr. and Shirley (Baker) Smith. In 1941, he began working at the Waggoner National Bank in Vernon, Texas. He then served as president and vice president of several banks in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Shawnee in 1966 when he became vice president of Federal National Bank in Shawnee. He retired as executive vice president and vice chairman of the board in 1981.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 in the 96th Infantry in the South Pacific in Leyte and Okinawa. He was a member of the Lions Club, Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and the Shriners India Temple. He also was a 32nd degree Mason.

Survivors include his former wife, Billye J. Smith, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bill Harwell, Tecumseh; granddaughters, Heather Harwell, Tyler, Texas; Ellen Harwell, Ada.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Ben "Bill" Smith III in 1996; his parents; and one brother, R.C. Smith.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home with the Rev. William Bentley officiating.

Tommy Wayne Allen

Prague resident Tommy Wayne Allen died Thursday in Shawnee. He was 57.

Allen was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Stroud to Burse and Madge (Manning) Allen. He married Caroline Muzny on Feb. 29, 1988.

He was a retired Formica installer, carpet layer, truck driver and worked for Oakland Drilling. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Allen, of the home; sons, Michael Allen, Germany; Daniel Allen, Seattle, Wash.; Randy Allen, Portland, Ore.; sister, Norma Parman, Oklahoma City; mother and father-in-law, Leroy and Joyce Muzny, Prague; brothers-in-law, Sam and Charles Muzny; one grandson, Michael; and one granddaughter, Alenna.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Joey, at age 12.

Rosary services will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery.
