Melba Cornelia Seymour

Melba Cornelia Seymour of Seminole died Sunday. She was 79.

She was born Dec. 8, 1920, in Seminole. She was the daughter of Lon Villines and Lillian (Templeton) Villines.

Mrs. Seymour graduated from Seminole High School in 1938.

She married Robert A. Seymour in 1939 in Seminole. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert A. Seymour on May 28, 1977 and one brother, Lon J. Villines.

Survivors include three sons, Robert A. Seymour of Fort Worth, Texas; Lon A. Seymour of Denver, Colo.; Mark O. Seymour of Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter, Nomara "Sandy" Seymour of Seminole; four sisters, Dorothy Martin and Norissa Richardson both of Seminole; Janna Clinton of Shawnee; Doris Notley of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Lois J. Sharp

Shawnee resident Lois J. Sharp died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was 70.

Mrs. Sharp was born Feb. 11, 1929, in Forrest City, Mo., to Lloyd and Lula (Burtnett) Whipple. She married Donald Sharp on April 13, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio.

She moved to Shawnee two years ago and was a member of Gordon Cooper Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Sharp, Shawnee; daughters, LaVonda Wattenbarger, Vancouver, Wash., Wanda Wattenbarger and Ramona Sharp, both of Shawnee; son, Donald Sharp Jr., Huber Heights, Ohio; sisters, Florence Schaeffer and Violet Sinkhorn, both of Fairfax, Mo.; Mary Sharp, Columbus, Ohio; brother, Robert Whipple, Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gordon Cooper Church of God with Michael Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Anna J. Scheidt

Shawnee resident Anna J. Scheidt died Friday at her home. She was 108.

Scheidt was born Jan. 24, 1891, in St. Clement, Mo., to Fred and Rosie (Lomsky) Ebers.

She married John Scheidt on Nov. 22, 1910, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Shawnee.

She moved to Oklahoma when she was 10 years old and lived in the Shawnee area most of her life. She was a homemaker as well as a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and St. Benedict Altar Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosalie Dickinson, Shawnee; grandchildren and spouses, Michael and Laury Dickinson, Shawnee, Timmy and Joann Dickinson, Shawnee, Carl and Andrea Dickinson, Baltimore, Md., Mark and Rhonda Dickinson, Shawnee, Ann Dickinson and her son Andrew, Shawnee; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Scheidt; son, George Scheidt; grandson, John Dickinson; and great-grandsons, Danny Dickinson and John Dickinson Jr.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with the Rev. Charles Massoth officiating. The wake/rosary will 7 p.m. Sunday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy Violet Kymes

Former Stroud resident Dorothy Violet Kymes died Thursday in Catoosa. She was 71.

Mrs. Kymes was born July 21, 1927, in Ruidoso, N.M., to Omer Lee and Lillie Belle (Waters) Wilson. She married Nelson Charley Kymes on July 10, 1953, in Okemah.

She had lived in Tulsa for the past two years having moved from Ada.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Nancy Kymes, Catoosa; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Mike Wilson, Odessa, Texas; brother, Floyd Wilson; sisters, Lenora Aurand, Bentonville, Ark.; Helen Frantz, Wynnewood; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 8, 1998; her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud with Charles Kymes officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery.

David Eugene Rogers

Longtime Stroud resident David Eugene Rogers died Friday in Ellsworth, Kan. He was 52.

Rogers was born March 28, 1947, in Prague to Eugene and Margie (Willingham) Rogers. He married Linda Sue Coleman in Stroud on Feb. 14, 1970. After her death, he married Edna Meteer in Stroud on Oct. 13, 1990.

He graduated from Stroud High School in 1965 and owned and operated his own dump truck business in Stroud. He was in the United States Marine Corps where he served in Vietnam. He was affiliated with the First Christian Church in Stroud.

Survivors include his wife, Edna, of the home; son, John David Rogers, Stroud; parents, Eugene and Margie Rogers, Stroud; stepdaughter, Amy Van Den Brand, Norman; sister, Betty Newman, Choshocton, Ohio; two grandchildren, David W. and Branden M. Rogers, both of Stroud; brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Vera Verner, Chandler; brother-in-law, Charles Rush, Chandler; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Sue Coleman, on June 7, 1983; his grandparents; and one son, Jason.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Brown Lee Davis officiating. Burial will be in Stroud Cemetery.

Ruby M. Evans

Shawnee resident Ruby M. Evans died Friday at a local nursing home. She was 87.

Mrs. Evans was born April 12, 1912, in Chock, Texas, to Homer Burnett and Mattie Pearl (Kitchen) Burnett.

She had lived in Shawnee since 1971 and was a homemaker and provided nursing care for the elderly.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carlene Evans, Meeker; granddaughter and her husband, Donya and Robin Aylor, Prague; grandson and his wife, Daryn and Tami Evans, Meeker; sisters, Ruth Autry, Shawnee, and Pearl Huggins, Chickasha; brothers, Arthur Burnett, Verde Valley, Ariz., and John Davis Burnett, Atwater, Calif.; great-granddaughter, Sharyn Renee Evans, Meeker; stepgrandchildren and their spouses, Anciel and Darlene Evans, Wellston, and Carl and Cheryl Evans, Cushing; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home with Dwyane Dennis officiating.

Leon Wilkerson

Leon Wilkerson, Kendrick, died Thursday in Kendrick. He was 88.

Wilkerson was born on Dec. 14, 1910, in Indahoma, to Luther and Margaret Ryder Wilkerson.

He married Evelyn (Beetle) Trent in 1942 in Fort Smith, Ark.

He worked as a tractor test driver for Goodyear.

Wilkerson had previously lived in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Margaret Wilkerson; a brother; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home; a sister, Deloris Peabody, California; a niece, Nan Rorhs, California; and other relatives and friends.

Services are pending under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Stroud.

Clara Inez (Faulk) Siegfried

Harrah resident Clara Inez (Faulk) Siegfried died Wednesday in Edmond. She was 83.

Mrs. Siegfried was born on May 23, 1916, the daughter of Guy Gilbert and Emma Jeanette "Jettie" (Wilbanks) Faulk, in Arcadia.

She married Alvin Ray Siegfried on May 17, 1935.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; two sons, Alvin Siegfried Jr.; Jamey Siegfried; two sisters, Ann Lutes, Bess Ecker; and five brothers, Vince Faulk, Earl Faulk, Charles Faulk, Tony Faulk and Donald Faulk.

Survivors include her daughter, Sally Robertson, Harrah; a grandson, David Robertson, Harrah; a great-grandson, Patrick Robertson, Guthrie; two sisters, Alice Boyle, Oklahoma City, and Pearl Christie, Strawberry, Calif.; a brother, Russ Faulk, Elk City; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donations may be made to the Harrah United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the United Methodist Church in Harrah.

Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.

H.R. Abla

H.R. Abla, Shawnee, died Thursday at his home. He was 71.

Abla was born on June 20, 1928, in Erick, the son of Homer E. and Dollie (Brown) Abla.

He married Charlene Roberts on Nov. 3, 1947, in San Luis Obispo County, Calif.

He worked as a welder, foreman and district transmission superintendent for Oklahoma Natural Gas until 1986.

Abla was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Dollie Abla; a brother, Leonard Abla; a sister, Joy Abla; and a grandson, Lincoln.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Abla, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Jeanie Abla, Plano, Texas; Craig and Donna Abla, Hutchinson, Kan.; two brothers, Hulon Abla, Camden, Ark.; Don Abla, Shawnee; and eight grandchildren, Josh Abla, St. Louis, Mo.; April Abla, Plano, Texas; Summer Abla, Candice Abla, Audra Abla, Chandra Abla, Billy Abla and Victoria Abla, all of Hutchinson, Kan.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, OK 74801.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Brother Phil Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Hubert L. Callaway

Seminole resident Hubert L. Callaway, O.D., died Wednesday in Seminole. He was 79.

Dr. Callaway was born on Oct. 22, 1919, in Selda, Mo., the son of Orie Judd and Edith (Farris) Callaway.

He married Mary Nell Henry on April 15, 1948, in Muskogee.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II and earned four battle stars for the air offensive in Europe, the Normandy invasion, Rhineland service and central Europe action.

He also received a distinguished unit badge during the Battle of the Bulge.

Dr. Callaway was an optometrist and a life member of the American Optometrist's Association

He served as a regent at Seminole State College, was a member of the Seminole Elks Lodge, Seminole Kiwanis Club, and the Seminole School Board.

He was a trustee and elder of the Seminole First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orie and Edith Callaway; and a brother, E. Farris Callaway.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Callaway, of the home; a son, Lee Callaway, Ponca City; a daughter, Kelly Burgar, Parker, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Amy and Lisa Callaway; Holly Brockett.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
