Nelson H. Hatler

Nelson H. Hatler of Tecumseh died Monday at a local nursing home. He was 90.

He was born Feb. 7, 1910, in Cord, Ark., to Alfred and Flora Hatler. He worked as a farmer and was a retired civil service employee.

He married Flossie Taylor in Arizona in 1947. Hatler lived in Tecumseh for many years and, at a early age, he moved with his family to Konawa.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1993, four sisters, Ellen Nugent, Ruth Everett, Eunice Sharp and Faye Hudson, and one brother, Ivan Loyce.

Surviving are a son, Robert Hatler, of Coos Bay, Ore.; a daughter, LaWanda O'Brien of Lemon Grove, Calif.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Norma Ruth Westmoland

Lifelong Seminole resident Norma Ruth (Lemmings) Westmoland died Tuesday at Shawnee Regional Hospital. She was 63.

Mrs. Westmoland was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Seminole to Fredrick Osmon Lemmings and Anna Ruth (Moore) Lemmings. She married Claudie Gerald Westmoland on Dec. 23, 1954, in Seminole.

She graduated from Varnum High School in 1954 and attended Seminole State College. She retired in 1990 from Tinker Air Force Base and was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church, Varnum Busy Bees and B.P.W.

Survivors include her husband, Claudie Gerald Westmoland, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert G. and Vickie Westmoland, Seminole; Michael G. and Charlene Westmoland, Seminole; brother, Robert D. Lemmings, Seminole; sister, Mary JoAnn Pechacek, Seminole; five grandchildren, Tanya Parnell, Kandie Goodnight, Brandi Westmoland, Justin Westmoland, Remington Westmoland; and three great-grandchildren, Nikiah Parnell, Maci Parnell and Tanner Goodnight.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Mika Charyle Westmoland, in 1994.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Dysinger officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Russell W. Oliver

Shawnee resident Russell W. "Sarge" Oliver died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 85.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Audrey Bertie Orr

Longtime Stroud resident Audrey Bertie Orr died Wednesday in Stroud. She was 95.

Mrs. Orr was born Aug. 22, 1904, in Bexar, Ark., to Robert T. and Mahulda (Wade) Sears. She married Newbern Alexander Orr on Aug. 28, 1921, in Mitchell, Ark.

She was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church in Stroud.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Joe E. Orr and Peggy Martin, both of Stillwater; three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on Jan. 14, 1991; her parents, a son, five sisters and seven brothers.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery, Stillwater, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud, with the Rev. Kathy Leithner officiating.

Mason Merick Garretson

Mason Merick Garretson, 89, Macomb, died Wednesday.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with Leslie "Spooter" Smith and the Rev. Jim Adams officiating. Burial will be at Old Moral Cemetery.

Other information is pending.

Gerald L. Davidson

Private investigator Gerald L. Davidson, Davenport, died Tuesday in Davenport at the age of 47.

He was born Dec. 17, 1953, in Oakland, Calif., to Charles and Joanne (McBride) Davidson. He married Patricia Davidson on Sept. 7, 1974, at Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Davidson, a Davenport resident for many years, attended the First Baptist Church of Davenport.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Davidson of the home; three sons, Charles Davidson of Manteca, Calif.; Dustin Davidson and Jeremy Davidson, both of Davenport; two granddaughters, Shariah and Cheyenne, both of Manteca, Calif.; parents, Sonny and Joanne Davidson, Davenport; two brothers, Michael Davidson of Harrisburg, Pa.; Robert Davidson of Mesa, Ariz., and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, Davenport, with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Bill Heard

Bill Heard, 71, Konawa, died Wednesday at a Shawnee hospital.

He was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Sasakwa, the son of James Till Heard and Elsie (Cooley) Heard.

Heard, a lifelong Seminole County resident, was married to Melva (Ligon) Heard Sept. 2, 1950, in Van Buren, Ark. Heard attended the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Konawa.

A roustabout and pumper for Chevron, he retired in 1990.

Heard, a U.S. Army veteran, was a private first class who served from Aug. 15, 1946, to Dec. 10, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Melva Heard of the home; his son, Randy Heard of Wolf; his daughter, Connie Ashby of Vamoosa; four brothers, Ivan and Doc Heard, both of Wolf; James Heard of Wewoka; J.T. Heard of Vamoosa; four sisters, Polly Hill of Picket; Susie Kuestersteffen of Konawa; Fay Kinsey of Antlers; May Mullins of Konawa; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Vamoosa Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Hudson, the Rev. Kenneth Romines and the Rev. Michael Vanlandingham officiating. Burial will be at Lone Dove Cemetery, east of Vamoosa. Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, is in charge of arrangements.

Jean A. Hammons

Jean A. Hammons, 84, Shawnee, died Tuesday at her home.

A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Friday at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating.

She was born Jan. 5, 1917, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of William and Florence Albright, Holdenville. She grew up in Texas and Oklahoma.

Mrs. Hammons, a graduate of Holdenville High School, attended St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith, Ark. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority when she was a student at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater.

She was married Jan. 28, 1939, to Jack B. Hammons, Shawnee, who died Nov. 2, 1982.

Mrs. Hammons also was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, J.B. and Mary Hammons, Tulsa, and Bill and Janet Hammons, Norman, three grandchildren and a great-grandson.

John Davis

Maud resident John ³J.D.² Davis died Sunday at Shawnee Regional Hospital. He was 76.

Davis was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Seminole to Jimsey Davis and Tokey (Factor) Davis. He married Sarah Tiger Davis in 1953 in Seminole.

He retired from construction work in 1980 and was a member of Hitchittee Methodist Church and the Seminole VFW.

A lifelong Seminole County resident, Davis was a World War II veteran and received two Purple Heart Awards, EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, American Theater Campaign Medal and Victory Ribbon.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Simmer, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Montgomery, Shawnee; Jim and Merla Davis, Norman; Herschel and Linda Davis, Maud; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah (Tiger) Davis on May 19, 1972; his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Wake services were Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hitchittee Indian Methodist Church. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Hitchittee Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Robert A. Willsie

Midwest City resident Robert A. Willsie died Sunday. He was 83.

Willsie was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Asher to William and Sara Willsie. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and was wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He earned his commission as a Naval officer and his wings as a Navy pilot in 1944, serving in the Pacific Theater.

After World War II, he served on active duty as a squadron commander at several naval air stations. He retired from active duty in 1967 as a captain and commanding officer of U.S. Navy Recruiting for Oklahoma.

Willsie was awarded the Purple Heart, the Asia Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal with the Bronze Star, the Navy Occupation Service with the Asia clasp, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He earned his bachelor¹s degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University in 1967, then joined the Small Business Administration as a loan officer until his second retirement in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Bridges Willsie; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Elizabeth Willsie and Philip Caudill, The Woodlands, Texas; Helen Ann Willsie and Robert Killian, Midwest City; grandsons, Christopher Caudill, Norfolk, Va.; Patrick Caudill, Houston, Texas; and Asher Killian, Midwest City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Midwest Boulevard Christian Church, 320 N. Midwest Blvd. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Cemetery, NE 36th and Midwest Blvd., under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes, Oklahoma City.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer¹s Association, 1 N. Hudson, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73102.

Nelson H. Hatler

Tecumseh resident Nelson H. Halter died Monday at a local nursing home. He was 90.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Further arrangements are pending.

Judy LaNell Roberts

Judy LaNell Roberts of Norman died Sunday. She was 57.

She was born June 18, 1942, in Eunice, N.M. She grew up in Denver City, Texas, later graduating from high school.

She married Clendon Roberts and moved to the Shawnee area in 1970. She moved to New Mexico in 1983 and to Norman, Okla. in 1995.

Surviving are a son, Scott Roberts of Collinsville, Okla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeff and Lisa Bussey of Norman; two brothers, James Rook Reed of Abilene, Texas and Howard Kent Reed of Roswell, N.M.; and one grandchild, Reilly Bussey of Norman.

Gravesides services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Doris B. Petchinsky

Former Shawnee resident Doris B. Petchinsky of Prague died Monday at a local hospital. She was 79.

Mrs. Petchinsky was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Maud to Ed and Grace Hudman. She married Adolph Petchinsky March 10, 1939, in Chandler.

She was employed by Sylvania Electronics and The Loghouse Restaurant. She was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Adolph Petchinsky, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Lisa Petchinsky, Prague; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bill Ferguson, Prague; eight grandchildren, Robert Ferguson, John Ferguson, Terry Petchinsky, Mark Petchinsky, Jeff Sutton, Craig Sutton, Brandi Pierce and Cindy Tansey; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Glenn, Edmond; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Doloris Hudman, Edmond.

She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Petchinsky.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. C.C. Atchley and the Rev. Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
