DeWilma Henry

DeWilma Henry of Shawnee died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 88.

She was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Paden to DeWitt and Lillie Belle Maddox.

She married Dwight Henry Feb. 14, 1944, at Purcell.

Mrs. Henry worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She moved to Cement for four years then to Shawnee. She retired in 1974.

She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and became an elder in 1987. She did volunteer work in the emergency food program for 10 years and worked in arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Aug. 26, 1970; and three sons, including John R. Maddox.

Survivors include her nephew, Michael R. Maddox, Plano, Texas, and niece, Patti L. Maddox, Edmond.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Okemah.

Robert L. Davis

Robert L. "Bob" Davis of Shawnee died Friday. He was 74.

He was born May 2, 1925, in O'Donell, Texas. He was the son of Berry Jackson and Ruby Alta (Cabiness) Davis.

Davis was a graduate of Washita High School. He moved to Oklahoma as a child and was reared between Washita, Fort Cobb and Anadarko.

On Nov. 24, 1945, he married Fern Holsted in Fort Cobb. After school he worked with his father in the family ice plant and feed store.

He moved in 1969 to Tecumseh, where he was co-owner and manager of Five Star Milling. After selling the store in 1981, he worked as a territory manager for Evergreen Mills until retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. While operating Five Star Milling, he was active in supporting local FFA chapters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Davis; two brothers, Dr. Wesley Davis and Mack Davis and one sister, Artie Mae Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Davis of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Kinney and Patricia Davis of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kent Ellwanger of Shawnee; two sisters, Christine Smith of Elgin and Pauleen Lewis of Duncan; six grandchildren, Vanessa Steward, Shanell Harris, Kinney Davis II, Lane Davis, Taylor Ellwanger and Cheyenne Ellwanger; one great-grandchild, Ashley Davis; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tecumseh.

Lora Roper Rector

Lora Roper Rector of Longview, Texas, died Friday. She was 93.

She was born July 28, 1906, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Mrs. Rector was a Longview area resident for the past 17 years, moving from Kansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hulan Roper and son Carlton Roper.

Survivors include her husband, B.L. Rector of Longview, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Nell and Clarence Surratt of Longview; step-daughter and son-in-law, Lavon and Orland Rosell of Wamego, Kan.; stepson and daughter-in-law, Derold and Louise Rector of Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren, Jim Roper of Edmond; Deloris Page of Shawnee and Anna Whitmore of Tracy, Calif., and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview, with Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will be in Farmers Academy Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Texas under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.

Betty Elizabeth Morrow

Betty Elizabeth Morrow died Friday at an Okemah nursing home. She was 93.

She was born Oct. 12, 1906, to Millard Sperry and Minnie (Bocook) Sperry, at Cattles Burg, Ky. Mrs. Morrow moved to the area at the age of 3.

She married Alva Lewis Morrow Nov. 2, 1925. at Okemah. Mrs. Morrow was a homemaker and a member of the Pharoah Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years; one son; two granddaughters; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Billy G. Morrow of Okmulgee; two daughters, Wanda Cline of Weleetka; Mildred Swinford of Henryetta; one sister, Margie Verner of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Quinton officiating. Burial to follow at Morse Cemetery.

Kenneth George Seckel

Kenneth George Seckel of Tecumseh died Friday. He was 75.

He was born Feb. 19, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo. He was the son of George Franz and Alma (Otto) Seckel.

Seckel was born in Missouri and moved to Skagg City as a child and had lived in Pottawatomie County for most of his life. On Dec. 16, 1972, he married Jane Goss Robbins in Shawnee.

He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1976. He was a bombardier and later a flight engineer with the Army Air Corp during World War II.

Seckel was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He spent time volunteering as a Boy Scout leader and a youth baseball coach.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Childers; two brothers, Lloyd Seckel and Jim Seckel and one sister-in-law, Louise Seckel.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Seckel of the home; children, Jeanie and Wayne Wilson of Shawnee; Ron and Jan Seckel of Billings, Mont.; Freda Reed of Shawnee; James Kenneth Seckel of Shawnee; Kathy and Donnell Kalivoda of Oklahoma City; Vicki Bertram of Tecumseh; Sandra and Terry Harrison of Newalla; Phyllis and Steve Rigney of Shawnee and Les and Velisa Robbins of Yukon; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Milton Seckel of Tecumseh; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Marie and Glen Sturgis of Tecumseh and Lorene and Jack Akins of McLoud; sister-in-law, Pat Seckel of Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Jesse Hernandez and the Rev. Kent Harville officiating. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery.

Johnnie Louveta Collinsworth

Johnnie Louveta Collinsworth, 75, Sasakwa, died Friday.

She was born July 7, 1924, in Bristow to Crabell and Noah Tollett. She was married to Jerry Collinsworth at Konawa on Dec. 16, 1944.

Mrs. Collinsworth was a seamstress and housewife who lived in the Konawa and Sasakwa area all of her life. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Evon Collinsworth, and her parents.

Survivors include husband, Jerry Collinsworth of the home; six children, Linda Payne, Konawa; Leon Collinsworth, Sasakwa; Carlotta Elliott, Sasakwa, Phyllis Jean Phillips, Sasakwa; Sharlene Phillips, Seminole; Bradford Collinsworth, Sasakwa; 11 grandsons and two granddaughters.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pickard Chapel, Konawa, with the Rev. Lee Wayne Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Charlene Lee Hardin

Charlene Lee Hardin of Norman died Thursday. She was 73.

She was born Sept. 24, 1926, to Charles Alvin and Augusta Lee (Woods) Fowler in Ada. She moved to Norman from Oklahoma City in 1984.

She was a member of the Village Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. She was a friend of Bill W..

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Sherry Belinda Hardin; a brother, Donald Fowler, and a grandson, Toby Moniz.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachelle Moniz and husband Bruce and one grandson, Marcus Moniz and a granddaughter, Amy Porter and numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Primrose Chapel, Norman. Burial will follow at the Tecumseh Cemetery.

Trinidad Ruiz

Shawnee resident Trinidad Ruiz died Thursday in a local hospital. He was 70.

Ruiz was born on April 25, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Trinidad and Refugio Ruiz.

He graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles in 1948, and attended one year of college before graduating from barber school.

He was married to Luisa Ruiz for 48 years.

Ruiz retired from General Motors in Oklahoma City, and had been a barber for 30 years.

He served with the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 in Korea.

He was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Ruiz volunteered at the Oklahoman Benediction Institute Thrift Store, and volunteered in the community to assist the elderly, sick and homeless.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Refugio Ruiz; and a brother, Zigfried Ruiz.

Survivors include his wife, Luisa Ruiz; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Richard and Elaine Ruiz. Shawnee; David and Francine Ruiz, Fremont, Calif.; Daniel and Teresa Ruiz, Moore; Dennis and Barbara Ruiz, Midwest City; Thomas Ruiz, Oklahoma City; three brothers, James and Richard Ruiz, California; Armando Ruiz, Mazatlan, Mexico; a sister, Ruth Carreon, California; and nine grandchildren, Christen DeFazio, Nichole, Tamara, Ryan, Andrea, Richard, Sean, Jade and Jessica Ruiz.

A prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Albert Godwin

Albert Godwin, 62, Mulberry, Ark., died Saturday in Fort Smith, Ark.

Godwin was a retired civil service worker and farmer. He served with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Godwin, Mulberry, Ark.; daughter, Robin Godwin, Omaha, Neb.; three sons, Curtis Godwin, Mulberry, Ark.; Albert Godwin Jr., Rogers, Ark.; Chris Godwin, of the home; two brothers, Wesley and Lesley Godwin, both of McLoud; and nine grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Houston Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark, Ark.

Hunter Lane Quary

Hunter Lane Quary, Prague, was stillborn Saturday in a Shawnee hospital.

Hunter was the son of Jeremy Chad and Kerri Michelle (Cheatwood) Quary, Prague.

Survivors also include his maternal grandparents, Michael and Linda Cheatwood, Prague; Jean and David Kershaw, Prague; paternal grandparents, Edward Jr. and Tracy Quary, Prague; Mellonie Quary, Prague; maternal great-grandparents, Max and Della Burchette, Meeker; paternal great-grandparents, Edward and Helen Quary, Prague; maternal great-great-grandmother, Estelle Ashcraft, Shawnee; and numerous aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Spanfield; paternal great-grandmother, Lucille Quary; and maternal great-grandfather, Joe Cheatwood.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday, in Prague Cemetery, with the Rev. Starland Davis officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.
