Leslie Allen Poe

Leslie Allen Poe, 50, died Sunday at his Shawnee home.

Poe was born May 5, 1950, in Shawnee to Mildred C. and William H. Poe.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1968 and from Okmulgee State Tech in 1977.

He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Vietnam conflict and he served in Korea and Germany.

A CNC machinist, Poe was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America.

He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Poe.

Survivors include his daughter, Brandi M. Poe, Norman; grandsons, Ryan A. Poe and Tylor E. Taliaferro, both of Norman; mother, Mildred Poe, Shawnee; brother, Henry Poe, Shawnee; friends, Jeremy Taliaferro and Sherri Dietz; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Loveland officiating.

Virgil Ray Gelino

Virgil Ray Gelino of Shawnee died Sunday in Oklahoma City. He was 80.

Gelino was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Beaver, Okla., to Ray and Ruth Gelino.

He graduated from Ponca City High School.

On June 2, 1946, he married Pauline Thomas in Ponca City.

Gelino worked as a purchasing agent for Shawnee Milling Co. and retired in 1984 after 24 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 during World War II in Tunisia, Rome-Arno and Po Valley and received the Good Conduct medal, World War II Victory Ribbon, Atlantic Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, Purple Heart, three Bronze Service Stars and a presidential citation.

He was a member of the VFW, Lifetime Purple Heart Association and Northwest Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother.

Survivors include his wife Pauline Gelino of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marla Gelino, Lewisville, Texas; daughter, Teri Thompson, Shawnee; granddaughter and her husband, Michele and Steve Allen, Wewoka; grandson, Cody Ray Gelino, Lewisville; great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Kaylee Allen, Wewoka; brothers, Ralph Gelino and Marvin Gelino; sisters, Lela Aker and Nancy Williams; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ed Fox officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Hollis Gene Fisher

Hollis Gene Fisher died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 74.

He was born July 4, 1926, in Okemah, the son of Lewis Fisher and Aurora Missouri May McDaniel Fisher.

On Dec. 9, 1944, he married Lora Lucille Spain in Okemah.

Fisher served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

For many years he co-owned and operated C&F Mill with Ed Clay.

Fisher was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of Okemah all of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dewey Fisher, Frank Fisher and Mack Fisher; and sister, Goldie Thorton.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Lora Fisher of the home in Okemah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Betty Fisher and Rick and Connie Fisher all of Okemah; daughter, Barbara Fisher of the home; brothers, John Fisher and Barney Fisher, both of Okemah; sisters, Beulah Spain and Alvena Spain, both of Okemah, Maggie Vandergriff of Manteca, Calif., and Hannah Dodson of Okemah; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Skyview Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Clay officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Murrel Allen Schofield

Lifetime Chandler resident Murrel Allen Schofield died Sunday in Chandler. He was 60.

He was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Chandler, the son of Tom Glen and Rachel Marie (Saulsberry) Schofield.

Schofield worked as a local truck driver and was affiliated with Bible Missionary Church in Chandler.

He was in the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam.

Schofield married Sue Osborn in Chandler on April 5, 1970.

He was preceded in death by his father, one sister and one brother.

Survivors include his wife Sue of the home; mother, Rachel Schofield of Chandler; son, Ronnie Schofield of Oklahoma City; stepson, Rickey Galloway of Copper Center, Alaska; stepdaughters, Pam Robinson of Chandler and Debra Galloway of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Oak Park Cemetery with Bro. Robert Wonn and the Rev. E.B. Meek officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Chandler.

Jean Minter Miller

Jean Minter Miller died Thursday in Tulsa. She was 73.

She was born Nov. 4, 1927, as Clovis Emma Jean Miner to Emma Ella Jones Minter and James Bullard Minter in Idabel.

She married Elvin Wesley Miller on June 2, 1948, in Idabel while completing her degree at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Miller began her teaching career in the Kiamichi Mountains and did substitute teaching in the Dallas-Fort Worth School Districts.

She was active in Travis Avenue and Southway Side Baptist Churches. She and her husband became career missionaries in Switzerland for 26 years with the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board.

She supervised a pre-school nursery for the Baptist Theological Seminary students' children. She also facilitated English speaking Women's Bible Studies which later organized into the Christian Women's Fellowship.

Miller was active in the International Protestant Church and was a founding member of Lake Zurich Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clifton and James Minter; sister, Joyce Fisher; grandson, Vance Wesley Miller; and granddaughter, DeAnna Marie Durham.

Survivors include her husband; four children and their spouses, James Wesley and Valorie Miller of Ft. Collins, Colo., Joy Lynn and Dale Durham of Colorado Springs, Colo., Benjamin Edward and Lois Miller of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Jennifer Ann Miller of Shawnee; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore's Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Southlawn Chapel.

Alice Ketcheshawno Gibbs

Alice Ketcheshawno Gibbs of Meeker died Saturday in Meeker. She was 88.

Services were held Monday. Burial will be in Wakole Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Gloria J. Decker

Gloria J. Decker died Monday at Midwest Regional Medical Center, Midwest City. She was 70.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Cemetery, Pearson, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.

Jimmy Leroy Jordan

Jimmy Leroy Jordan of Maud died Saturday at his home. He was 51.

He was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Seminole, the son of Dave Jordan and Alice (Palmer) Jordan.

Jordan married Cathy Fitzsimmons on Sept. 2, 1967, in San Rafael, Calif.

He was a licensed plumber contractor.

Jordan was preceded in death by his sister, Julia W. "Sis" Jordan on Feb. 9, 1978.

Survivors include his parents, Dave and Alice Jordan of Tecumseh; wife Cathy Jordan of the home; daughters, Lisa Jordan and Ashley Jordan, both of Maud; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Sarah Jordan of Maud and Jeremiah and Rose Jordan of Maud; brother, John Parrish of Maud; three grandchildren, Haylee Jordan, James Dean Jordan Rath and Daniel Rielly Jordan, all of Maud.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud.

Anna Marie Duncan

Anna Marie Duncan of Ada died Saturday. She was 77.

She was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Maud, the daughter of William Edward and Minnie Florence Curtis.

She attended grade school at Seminole and graduated from Central High School in Seminole County.

She married Norman Duncan Dec. 21, 1941, in Konawa and was a homemaker.

Duncan was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ and taught children's Bible class. She was a leader in the Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girls and served on the board of directors for years.

She served on the election board and was active in the Meals on Wheels program.

Duncan worked for the War Production Board during World War II and built bombers at Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City.

Survivors are her husband, Norman Duncan of the home; daughter, Peggy Dianna Walker, Denton, Texas; son, Norman Paul Duncan, Ada; brother, Byron Martin, Seminole; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Criswell Chapel with Bobby Johns and Floyd Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Vamoosa under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

Mary Edith McEntire

Mary Edith McEntire died Wednesday at her Seminole home. She was 89.

She was born Aug. 9, 1911, in Centerpoint, Texas, to William Albert and Cora Lee (White) Furr.

On March 30, 1930, she married James Francis Roberts in Stringtown; he preceded her in death April 24, 1960. In 1978, she married Keener Brown McEntire, who preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1988.

She retired the Atoka County clerk's office and was one of the original staff members of the Head Start program. She also helped run the family grocery store in Stringtown.

Mrs. McEntire moved from Stringtown to Seminole four years ago and was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a 70-year member of Eastern Star.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Jo Ann Dale, on Jan. 28, 1986, and a son-in-law, Sonny Ogden, in January 1988.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Frances Ogden, Houston, Texas; Carrie Jean McGee and Jenny and Doug Morgan, all of Seminole; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Michael and Susanne Roberts, Nacogodoches, Texas; 18 grandchildren, Steven Robert Ogden, Timothy Scott Ogden, Mary Karen Dale, Charles Michael Dale, Jeffrey Robert Dale, Nancy Elizabeth Dale, Melinda Suzanne Tapp, Amanda Jill Brown, Angela Lee Price, Sarah Rosemary McGee, Sean Douglas Morgan, Christian Lee Morgan, Matthew Joseph Morgan, Jeffrey Roberts Morgan, Kristina Maria Roberts, Samuel Ryan Roberts, Stacey Lenora Roberts, Benjamin Michael Roberts; 13 great-grandchildren; and her caretaker Mary Gray.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Coalgate, with the Rev. David Karges. Burial will be in Cairo Cemetery, north of Coalgate. Swearingen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum, Seminole.

Mary Evangeline McLeod

Mary Evangeline McLeod, Shawnee, died Monday in a local nursing home at the age of 93.

She was born June 28, 1907, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of George and Minnie Sampson. She moved to Waltham, Mass., at the age of 18. She lived there for two years. She then moved to Staten Island, N.Y.

While at Staten Island, she met and married James G. McLeod. The two were wed in Staten Island in 1939. Mrs. McLeod owned an electrolysis business at Staten Island.

They moved to Shawnee when they retired in 1974.

She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and one son, Charles L. McLeod.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James N. and Shirley J. McLeod of Shawnee; grandchildren, Daniel McLeod, James McLeod, John McLeod and Michelle McLeod, all of Shawnee, and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be noon Friday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Father Maurus Jaeb O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
