Geraldine L. Blackwell

Geraldine L. Blackwell, Stroud, died Wednesday in Stroud. She was 102.

She was born Jan. 27, 1899, in Oklahoma Territory to William Thomas and Rebecca Jane (Van Hook) Trowbridge.

She had lived in Stroud since 1984, moving there from Barstow, Calif.

She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ, Stroud.

On April 17, 1933, she married Harless Oscar Blackwell in Fayetteville, Ark. He preceded her in death Oct. 5, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Autry Duncan, Stroud, and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud.

Mamie Fay Salisbury

Mamie Fay Salisbury, Stroud, died Thursday in Stroud at the age of 84.

She was born March 25, 1917, in Jennings, Okla., to John Will and Ida Mae (Louise) Tompkins. She had lived in Stroud for the past five years, moving from Cleveland, Okla.

Mrs. Salisbury was affiliated with the First Baptist Church, Stroud, and was a retired health care worker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.W., her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Claude Hart, Anaheim, Calif.; Bus Hart, Eastland, Texas; Bob Hart, Wyoming; three daughters, Lavina Hinman, Stroud; Annie Trautwein, Loveland, Colo.; Sandra Fay Arellano, Denver, Colo.; sister, Elnora Lee, Cleveland; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today at Stroud Cemetery with the Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud, is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Earl Muncy

Raymond Earl Muncy died Thursday at his Paden home. He was 83.

Muncy was born July 9, 1919, in Paden to Taylor Bernard and Frances Ola (Davis) Muncy. He was a lifelong Paden resident and was a member of the Paden Holiness Church.

He married Nila Mae "Toots" Montgomery on Jan. 30, 1945, in Paden.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, Nila "Toots" Muncy, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Skeet and Corky Fipps and Donna and Geary Fipps, all of Paden; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma and Harold Rogers, Maxine and Floyd Raines, all of Paden; and Bettye and B.C. Robison, Prague; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Paden Holiness Church with Wayne Ray and Keith Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery, Paden. Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague, is in charge of arrangements.

William Carrel Childers

William Carrel Childers died Thursday at his Shawnee home. He was 80.

Childers was born Oct. 16, 1920, in Shawnee to William and Blossie A. (Geyer) Childers Sr. He married Ola Richards on June 30, 1939.

Childers was a carpenter and had been a member of the Church of God Seventh Day, Tecumseh, for 63 years. He also raised cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Childers, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carrel and Patsy Childers, and Dean and Donna Childers, all of Shawnee; six grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Jo Childers, Steve and Laurie Childers, Lori Holland, Jeff and Sheila Childers, Shelli and Eddie Ward, and Kelly and Teddy Martin; 10 great-grandchildren, Tara Childers, Lindsay Childers, Randy Childers, Corey Bailey, Lacey Childers, Logan Childers, Ashley Ward, Leslee Ward, Nicholas French and Trevor Martin; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia and Snow Richards; Ruby and Jessie Lee Ott; Reva Fallin, Delores and George Birkicht; and Lillie and Dale Ledford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary; and three brothers, Jimmy Childers, Laverne Childers and Paris Childers.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Ruben Marquez officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.

Betty Elizabeth (Gaches) Stepp Nichols

Betty Elizabeth (Gaches) Stepp Nichols died Thursday in her Okemah home. She was 64.

She was born on May 18, 1936, in Stroud, the daughter of Herman Lee Gaches and Cora Elizabeth (Claxton) Gaches. She had been a resident of Okfuskee County since 1965.

Mrs. Nichols, a member of First Baptist Church of Okemah, was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Karen Stepp Smith, and one brother, Shirley Lee Gaches.

Survivors include her husband, Red Nichols of Okemah; a grandson, Dustin Rorex Smith of Okemah; five brothers, Jack Gaches, Dick Gaches and Jimmy Gaches, all of Stillwater, Archie Gaches of Cushing and Robert Gaches of Hallet, Okla.; sister, Connie Costa of San Diego, Calif., and many other relatives.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lawson Cemetery in Yale. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Raymond Earl Muncy

Raymond Earl Muncy died Thursday in his Paden home at the age of 81.

Roger S. Milsap

Roger S. Milsap, Midwest City, died Thursday in Midwest City at the age of 58.

The son of Jack and Norma (Coley) Milsap was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Oakland, Calif. He was a Tecumseh High School graduate who attended East Central State University, Ada, and the University of Oklahoma, Norman.

He was married to Teri Deathrage, who preceded him in death June 3, 2000.

Milsap served in the U.S. Air Force. He lived in Tecumseh until he moved to Midwest City in 1990.

He was a loan officer in the credit department of Liberty Bank in Midwest City. He had recently handled oil leases in western Oklahoma.

His father also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, of Tecumseh; aunt, June Hopper of Moore; uncle, Steve Coley of Oklahoma City; special friend, Clinton Phelps, and several other family members.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Robert Rider and Chad Brodrick will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Ruby Leutecia Powers

Ruby Leutecia Powers, 94, Chandler, died Friday in Chandler.

She was born Dec. 27, 1906, in Chandler and had lived there all her life. She was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Scantlan) Andres.

In 1925, she and Oscar Powers were married in Chandler.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, one daughter, eight brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her son, Don Powers of Chandler, daughters, Marie Rodriguez of Midwest City; Mona Gray of Yukon, and Mary Wren of Joshua Tree, Calif.; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. today at the New Zion Cemetery in Chandler. The Rev. Mike Mitchell will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Grover L. Dunkin

Grover L. Dunkin, 80, Shawnee, died Thursday in a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home. The Rev. James Walter and the Rev. Leroy Kerbo will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Marybyrd Villines

Marybyrd Villines, Shawnee, died Thursday in a local nursing home at the age of 90.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. The Rev. Percy Jerkins will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Purcell. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Lillie Mae Splitt

Lillie Mae Splitt of Shawnee died Friday at the age of 81.

Arrangements will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Lucy F. Thompson

Lucy F. Thompson of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Friday. She was 87.

She was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Erath County, Texas. She was the daughter of Alonzo and Lona (Fox) King.

Her education began in the Erath County school system and culminated in the Tecumseh school system. She married Charles R. "Ruck" Thompson.

She was an active member of the Shawnee Church of Christ community before relocating to Florida. She lived in Shawnee for 50 years before moving to Florida in 1997.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Drs. Russell and Marga Thompson, Sarasota, Fla.; Bob Thompson, Punta Gorda, Fla.; Bill and Judy Thompson, Carrollton, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Dick Seale, Punta Gorda, Fla.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Oscar Kenneth Roberts

Oscar Kenneth Roberts of Clinton died Monday. He was 84.

He was born June 25, 1915, at Kansas City, Kan., to John C. and Vina V. (Frasier) Roberts. He grew up and attended school in Enid, graduating in 1935.

He entered the Air Force in 1942, serving in World War II. After his discharge, he worked as a salesman for the Heinz Company for many years, later operating a service station in Shawnee, living most of his adult life in Shawnee.

He was married to Terrell Dunsworth, who preceded him in death in 1983. He later married Mildred, who also preceded him in death.

In 1994, he came to Clinton and entered the Oklahoma Veterans Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two brothers Ernest and Myron Roberts and a sister, Violet Turner.

Survivors include two sisters, Juanita Roberts of Clinton and Irene Barnes and husband Lawrence of Enid; one brother, Glen Roberts and wife Peggy of Enid and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Enid Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Choate of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Enid officiating. Services are under the direction of Kiesau Funeral Home of Clinton.
