Jay Carl Phillips

Holdenville resident Jay Carl Phillips died Thursday at his home. The former Seminole resident was 38.

Phillips was born Oct. 12, 1961, in Okmulgee to Jay and Sarah (Crain) Phillips.

He graduated from high school in Holdenville in 1980 and graduated Seminole State College with an associate's degree in computer science. He also attended East Central University in Ada.

He was a machinist on computer lathes. He was formerly employed with Eaton Corp. in Shawnee and National Oilwell in McAlester. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Seminole and served on the Holdenville City Council for a year.

Survivors include his father and father's wife, Jay and Laurie Phillips, Seminole; former wife, Trisha Phillips, Holdenville; grandparents, N.J. Jr. and Ilsa Mae Phillips, Seminole; brothers, Kerry Causey, Seminole, and Kevin Causey, Norman; and sisters, Connie Ann King, Broken Arrow, Debbie Pierce and Deanna Causey, both of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Bessie Arlena Myers

Longtime Chandler resident Bessie Arlena Myers died Friday in Shawnee. She was 94.

Mrs. Myers was born Aug. 24, 1904, in Chadwick, Mo., to Houston Alexander and Laura Carrie Hursh.

She married Carl John Myers, who preceded her in death in 1934.

She lived in Chandler for more than 63 years and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Chandler since 1934.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Jerome and Lee Myers, Livingston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Donnaleta and Herman J. Stein, Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Arthur Jerome Myers Jr., David Myers, John Randolph Stein, Pamela Stein Bacon and Sue Ellen Stein; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Viola Fehrle, Oklahoma City, and Sara Jane Hancharik, Gilbert, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Burial will be 9 a.m. today at the New Zion Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Chandler and Trinity Baptist Church of Wellston.

Margaret Milam

Shawnee resident Margaret Milam died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was 89.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. James Blagg officiating.

Further arrangements will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Cleo Bell Lewis

Cleo Bell Lewis, 87, Shawnee, died Friday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Robert Lee Farrand

Robert Lee Farrand of Shawnee died Monday at a local hospital. He was 76.

He was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Langlade County, Wis. He was the son of James and Vernie (Pennington) Farrand.

He graduated from Antigo High School in Antigo, Wis., in 1941. He was a retired United States Letter Carrier.

Farrand married Gladys Jackson Oct. 29, 1945 in Shawnee. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hancock from 1942-1945 in the Pacific Theater.

He was active in the First Baptist Church of Shawnee and was a member of the Thunderbird Model Aircraft Flying Club, The Retired Letter Carriers Association and the AARP.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include wife, Gladys Farrand, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Linda Farrand, Shawnee; two daughters, Sheila Thomas, Shawnee; Tammy Crauthers, Edmond; five grandchildren, Carri Farrand of Washington D.C.; Mat Thomas of Shawnee; Teah Crauthers of Sulphur; Clint Farrand of Shawnee; Ty Crauthers of Shawnee; one brother, Paul Farrand, White Lake, Wis.; three sisters and brother-in-law, Roger and Marie Maas of Shawano, Wis.; Shirley Rickett of Winthrop Harbor, Ill. Vivian Bowman of Kewaskum, Wis.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Calmes and the Rev. Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

The family has designated the American Heart Assoc. 3545 NW 58th Suite 400 C Oklahoma City, Okla. 73112, First Baptist Church Ministry Corner as appropriate for memorial.

Barbara Freeman

Barbara Freeman of Tecumseh died Saturday in Oklahoma City. She was 41.

She was born Feb. 9, 1959, in Cordell. She was the daughter of Joe M. and Georgia (Richardson) Johnson.

While growing up, she lived in Puerto Rico; Limestone, Maine; and Ninnekah. She had also lived in Shawnee and Bethel.

She had resided in Tecumseh for the past two years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Ashley and Stephanie Freeman, both of the home; one son, Joshua Attockanie of Ardmore; parents, Joe and Georgia Johnson of Ninnekah; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Richard VanDyke of Chickasha; Laura and Rudy Molina of Moore; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Cathy Johnson of Bridgecreek; Matthew and Diane Johnson of Pioneer; one aunt and spouse, Myrtle and Warren Rodgers of Alex, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery with the Rev. William Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Thursday.

Teri E. Milsap

Teri E. Milsap of Oklahoma City died Saturday in Norman. She was 55.

She was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Shawnee. Mrs. Milsap, a clerical worker for the state of Oklahoma, was married to Roger S. Milsap.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Jack Milsap.

Survivors include her husband, Roger S. Milsap of Oklahoma City; brother, Randall Deatherage of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law, Norma Milsap of Tecumseh.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rider, pastor of the First Assembly of God, Tecumseh. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Myrl A. Osborn

Myrl A. "Oscar" Osborn of Harrah died Tuesday in McLoud. He was 94.

He was born March 11, 1906, in Newalla. He was the son of George Washington and Armanda (Painter) Osborn.

He was a retired mail carrier in Shawnee for 34 1/2 years. He married Mary G. Turnbull, Dec. 9, 1924, in Oklahoma City.

Osborn was a member of the First Christian Church of Shawnee and also a member of the Letter Carriers Association. He lived in Shawnee until 1965, when he moved to Harrah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Juanita E. Dodd; four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Otis and Nell Osborn, Tulsa; one brother, George W. Osborn, Harrah; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The casket will be open until the service and will not be opened after.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Harvey Don Hulsey Jr.

Harvey Don Hulsey Jr., 54, died Saturday at a local hospital.

He was born Feb. 22, 1946, in Readley, Calif. He was the son of Harvey D. Hulsey Sr. and Gladys (Prince) Hulsey.

He attended Newhall Public Schools in California and graduated from William S. Hart A.S. in Newhall. He worked as a diesel mechanic in the oil field for approximately 16 years.

He married Brenda Fausett. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation and also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Hulsey lived in Oklahoma for approximately 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Survivors include daughter, Tracy Dawn Hulsey, Bullhead City, Ariz.; two grandchildren, McKenzie Mazy, Bullhead City, Ariz.; Dillon Mazy, Bullhead City, Ariz.; a brother, David Hulsey, Bakersfield, Calif.; a nephew, Doug Hulsey, Bakersfield, Calif.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating.

Lloyd H. Kinnamon

Graveside services for Lloyd H. Kinnamon, 86, Shawnee, are set for 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The Rev. Ed Long and Jim Zimmerman will officiate. Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Kinnamon, a retired oil field worker, died Friday.

He lived in Shawnee from 1942 to 1952, when he moved to Wyoming, where he owned and operated a dinner club in Eden, Wyo. Kinnamon returned to Shawnee in 1981.

He was a Baptist.

He was born June 29, 1913, in Watts, Okla., to Doc and Esther (Welch) Kinnamon and was married to Mary Dell Briggs Nov. 25, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo.

Kinnamon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Billy Ray Kinnamon, daughter Wyneama Lee Gann, two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving relatives include a grandson, Lloyd Gann, Las Vegas, Nev.; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charles and Pat Kinnamon and Ted and Bea Kinnamon, all of Tecumseh; Bob Kinnamon, Shawnee; Bill and Mary Kinnamon, Muskogee; Jack Kinnamon, Kiefer, Okla.; a sister, Frances Beahan, Shawnee; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jon Marc Gaines

Jon Marc Gaines died Friday in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 39.

He was born July 23, 1960, in Oklahoma City.

Gaines was preceded in death by his father, Jack L. Gaines.

Survivors include his wife, Angie, of the home; three sons, Matthew, Josh and Graham, and two daughters, Elaine and Suzanne; his mother, Miriam Gaines of Shawnee; one brother, Justin Gaines of Oklahoma City, and one sister, Roseann Butler of Shawnee.

Services were held Monday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mabel Eaves Lane

Shawnee resident Mabel Eaves Lane died Friday at her home. She was 67.

She was the daughter of Sula and Everett Eaves.

She was a member of Blackburn Chapel of Shawnee.

Survivors include her mother, Sula Eaves; and sons, Timothy Tenney, Oklahoma City, and Terry Tenney, Joplin, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers and a sister.

Burial was Monday at Neals Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
