Adella Harris

Shawnee resident Adella Harris died Friday at her home. She was 83.

Mrs. Harris was born Feb. 6, 1917, near Altus to Claude A. Davidson and Annie (Minor) Davidson. She married Truitt W. Harris on July 12, 1941, in Altus.

She attended two years of business school in Hershey, Pa., and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher. She had lived in Shawnee about 30 years.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth A. and Lynn Harris, Windsor, Va.; Dr. Gary and Teri Harris, Merriam, Kan.; Tim and Judy Harris, Boston, Mass.; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Kay and Rod Mizell, Greenville, Texas; nine grandchildren, four brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Albert and Kathren Davidson, Denton, Texas; Fred and Shirley Davidson, Burbank, Calif.; Claude and Sammie Davidson, Shawnee; Dr. Minor and Mary Davidson, Timothian, Md.; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Karl Kozel, Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truitt Harris on Sept. 12, 1970; two sons, David Wayne Harris and john Truitt Harris; sister, Virginia Taylor; and brother, Daniel Davidson.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee with the Rev. Donovan Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering or the Annie Armstrong Mission Offering in care of First Baptist Church.

Robert C. Jones

Shawnee resident Robert C. "Bob" Jones died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 48.

Jones was born Nov. 21, 1951, in Shawnee to Clayton and Jackie (Spaugy) Jones. He attended Acme and Will Rogers School and was a 1969 graduate of Shawnee High School.

He attended OSU Technical School in Okmulgee and worked 18 years in the welding equipment supply business. He worked as a pumper filling welding cyclinders. He was employed by Sooner Supplies and later worked for Air Gas Company.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

Survivors include his parents, Clayton and Jackie Jones, Shawnee; sisters and brother-in-law, Donna and Chris Rigney, McLoud; Linda L. Thomas, Shawnee; three nieces, Rachelle Webb, Oklahoma City; Traci Rigney, McLoud; Kelli Thomas, Edmond; nephew and spouse, Todd and Shawna Rigney, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.C. and Lucy Jones and Dee and Mabel Spaugy.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home with D.W. "Red" Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Carl Francis Schmeusser

Carl Francis Schmeusser died Sunday in Prague. He was 62.

He was born Oct. 21, 1937, in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Karl and Anna (Osmus) Schmeusser.

He had been a 28-year resident of Prague, where he and his family own and operate C&A Cleaners. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended East Central University in Ada.

Schmeusser married Alberta Provience on March 31, 1972, in Oklahoma City. Prior to moving to Prague, he worked with his father as an interior decorator and managed restaurants for Howard Johnson.

He was a former member of the Prague Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and planning commission for the City of Prague. He served as a little league coach and worked with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Schmeusser was a member of the Oklahoma Dry Cleaners Association and served on the building committee for the United Methodist Church in Prague, of which he was a long-time member and singer in the choir.

Due to his long-term illness, he became a member of the Oklahoma Kidney Transplant Association, serving as liaison for the Lincoln County area and was a pioneer for diagnosis and medication treatment for liver transplant patients.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one niece, Crystal Jones of Prague.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta Schmeusser of the home; one son, Karl Fredrick of the home; three daughters, Rhonda Hodge, Prague; Liz Hellams, Prague; Regina Schmeusser, Little Rock, Ark.; one grandson, Steven Hodge, Prague; one sister and brother-in-law, Clare and Travis Rattan, Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law and husband, Nancy and John Sligar, Prague; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Prague United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Powell of Prague and the Rev. Duane Jackson of Stroud officiating. Burial will be in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

VFW Post 1317 of Shawnee will conduct military honors.

Frank Green Sr.

Frank Green Sr. of Harrah died Saturday. He was 64.

He was born to Lewis and Julia (Willis) Green Nov. 21, 1935, in Maytoy, Okla. He was a retired Air Force technical sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond; one son, Bobby and one daughter, Belinda.

Survivors include his wife, Noelia; three sons, Frank Jr.; Joe and Jesse; three daughters, Virginia; Karen and Tonya; three brothers, Charles; Ronnie and Oscar; two sister, Shirley Lemaster and Dorothy Orr; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Lane Cemetery located in Harrah. Arrangements directed by Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Betty Jo (Rosier) Lyday

Betty Jo (Rosier) Lyday died Monday at a Tecumseh nursing home. She was 74.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Ruby Mandy Orr

Former Seminole County resident Ruby Mandy Orr of College Station, Texas, died Thursday at her home. She was 79.

She was born April 10, 1921, in Seminole County to Charley and Audie McKee. She married John Andrew Orr in Okemah on Sept. 4, 1936. He preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1978. She was a farmer's wife, a mother and foster mother to three children.

She became partially disabled by numerous afflictions by the age of 25 and moved to the Seminole County area in 1936. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Texas since 1982.

Also preceding her in death were one brother, Fred McKee, and two sisters, Bernice Kissinger and Katy Hawkins.

Surviving are her daughter, Betty Marie Evans; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held 2 p.m. Monday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel of Okemah with the Rev. Roger McDougal officiating. Burial was in held in the Little Cemetery.

Don Shields

Shawnee resident Don Shields died Wednesday at a Midwest City hospital. He was 78.

Shields was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Clovis, N.M., to Claude and Willie Shields. He was raised in Melrose, N.M., and had lived in Shawnee since 1947.

He married Mary K. Hoover Nov. 19, 1946, in Portales, N.M. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1980.

Shields was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Shields of the home, a son and daughter-in-law, Nickey and Debbie Shields, Simi Valley, Calif.; four daughters and sons-in -law, Donna and Dick Marcum, Beaumont, Texas; Wanda and Wayne Combs of Midwest City; Vonda and Leonard Davis of Shawnee, Brenda and David Wright of Sedgwick, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jean Crowder, Clovis, N.M., and Leota Latta, Alamogordo, N.M., and several other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Dwayne Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The casket will not be open during the service, which will conclude at the funeral home.

Henry Lee Marrs

Henry Lee Marrs, Norman, died Wednesday in Norman at the age of 88.

He was born Aug. 2, 1912, in Pauls Valley and was a member of the Edwin J. Kiest Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Winona Marrs of Norman; a daughter, Linda Marrs of Norman, a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Barbara Marrs of Carrolton, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at the Chapel of Sparkman/Crane in Dallas, Texas. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas.

Biva Mae Palmer

Biva Mae Palmer, 78, Maud, died Friday in Maud.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Assembly of God Church, Maud. The Rev. Tim Martin will officiate. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.

Further information and arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Patricia Ann Jones

Patricia Ann Jones died Wednesday in Shawnee. She was 62.

She was born June 4, 1937, in Greenville, Texas, to Woodrow Wilson and Vivian (Peel) Pugh.

Before her retirement, she worked as a registered nurse at St. Anthony Hospital.

Survivors include her children, Matt Sims, Shawnee, Cindy McLain, Harrah, and Bill Sims, McKinney, Texas; brothers, Ronnie Pugh, Lubbock, Texas, J.T. Pugh, Levelland, Texas, and Bobby Pugh, Lubbock, Texas; and two grandchildren, Levi McLain and Patrick Sims.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Anna Jo; and a brother, Hal Pugh.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, Oklahoma City, with Bill Sims officiating.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Shawnee Regional Hospital.

Larry A. Sherfield

Shawnee resident Larry A. Sherfield died Thursday at his home. He was 46.

Sherfield was born April 26, 1953, in Holdenville to Arvle and Mildred Sherfield.

He graduated from Shawnee High School and lived in the Shawnee area most of his life.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Michelle Sherfield, Oklahoma City, and Andrew and Tally Sherfield, Noble, La.; grandchildren, Dylan and Seth Sherfield and Valarie, Austin and Cecily Sherfield; mother, Mildred Sherfield, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and George Hampton, Noble, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Services took place Friday. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Charles Underwood

Shawnee resident Charles "Chuck" Underwood died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 54.

He was born July 28, 1944, in Decatur, Ill., to Harry Ellsworth and Florence Evelyn (Collins) Underwood.

Underwood married Donna VanHooser March 31, 1977.

He moved to California as a child, returning to Oklahoma in 1971. While in California, he worked in research and development and as a maintenance technician EconoLite. After moving to Oklahoma, he worked for Central Plastics and Barton Valve in Shawnee and Hendershot Tool Co. in Oklahoma City as a maintenance technician.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Kay Underwood, of the home; children, Theresa L. Underwood, Cynthia L. and C.J. Turner Jr., Elizabeth E.L. and David W. Finney; eight grandchildren; mother, Florence Underwood; brothers and sister-in-law, Harry A. Underwood and Verl L. and Louise Underwood; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Rev. James Walters officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Pearl L. Thompson

Oklahoma City resident Pearl L. Thompson died Friday in Oklahoma City. She was 97.

Mrs. Thompson was born Nov. 6, 1901, in Olive Hill, Tenn., to William C. and Elizabeth (Boggus) Cook.

She married Roy C. Thompson March 28, 1920, in Tecumseh.

She moved to the Temple Hill School area west of Tecumseh in 1910. She moved to Shawnee in 1944 and later moved to Moore in 1989 to be near her daughter.

She was a charter member of the Oak Park Church of God.

Survivors include her daughters, Lola Wauters, Charleston, S.C., and Wanda Waddle, Moore; sons and daughter-in-law, Merl and Verna Thompson, Bethany, and Thurman and Beverly Thompson, Yukon; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Sessel Oplinger, Tecumseh; and brother R.D. Cook, Longview, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Leroy; one daughter, Noma; three sisters; and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to Oak Park Church of God, P.O. Box 1202, Shawnee. Memorials also may be made to Mission Hospice, 7301 N. Broadway, Suite 210, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73116.
