Charles A. Garner

Shawnee resident Charles A. Garner, 66, died Saturday at his home. A service is set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Dale Church of Christ. Further arrangements are pending and will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Derotha McLain

Derotha "Dee" McLain, 76, Shawnee, died Thursday in Shawnee. She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Tecumseh to Benjamin and Florence May (Lairson) McLain.

Miss McLain graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1942. She was a lifelong resident of Pottawatomie County.

She worked as a sales clerk for S.H. Kress for many years. She later worked as a checker at Pratt's Grocery in Shawnee for five years.

Miss McLain was a member of the Church of Christ and the THS Alumni Association.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including, Joe Graves, Tecumseh; James Graves, Newalla; Carl Graves, Newalla; Delbert Akins, Choctaw; and Leroy Akins, Midwest City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Akin officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Sarah Francis Sitton

Sarah Francis Sitton, 83, died Thursday in a Davis nursing home.

She was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Denton, Texas, to John Mark Gurley and Minnie M. (Whitfield) Gurley.

She married Roger Sitton in 1937 in Marietta. He preceded her in death in 1972.

Mrs. Sitton lived in Durant for many years before moving to Davis. She lived in Davis for five years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Durant and a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis. She taught vacation Bible school and Sunday school for several years.

Mrs. Sitton also was a member of the Durant Creative Art Guild and the Eastern University Drama Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Marialice Payne, Davis; granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Barlow Paschen, Davis; grandson, James Michael Barlow, Denver, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Christopher James Smith, Summer Nicole Smith and Michael Thomas Smith, all of Davis.

Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Cowley-Krien Chapel in Davis. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Krien Funeral Home, Davis.

David Lee Parks

David Lee Parks died Friday at a Norman hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 2, 1959, in Odessa, Texas, to Milton and Billie (Sibley) Parks.

He lived in Seminole periodically. In 1972, he graduated from Strother High School, where he was an honor student and active in sports and other programs.

Parks was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Norman for the last four years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Mary Sibley of Seminole and M.H. and Evelyn Parks of Ardmore.

Survivors include his mother, Billie Parks, Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Milton and Michael, Indianapolis, Ind.; aunt and uncle, Glen and Towanda Young, with whom he made his home during his youth; niece, Tammy Parks; nephew, Matthew Parks, Indianapolis; and several other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel, 8805 N.E. 23rd in Oklahoma City, with the Rev. Larry Ice and the Rev. Terry Patterson officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Little Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes, Inc.

Gladys Emily (Ingram) Williamson

Gladys Emily (Ingram) Williamson, 90, Shawnee, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

She was born June 6, 1911, in Earlsboro, the daughter of Joseph A. and Emily M. (Butcher) Ingram.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1928 and attended Oklahoma Baptist University for two years. She then transferred to the University of Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor of fine arts in voice in 1932.

On Sept. 21, 1934, she and Riley W. Williamson were married in Shawnee.

Mrs. Williamson, a homemaker, had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1928. She was soloist in the Chancel Choir and served as president in the United Methodist Women, as well as holding other church offices.

She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity. She served as president of the women's Glee Club at each university she attended. Mrs. Williamson was also a charter member of National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO), Chapter C.I. PEO, Shakespeare Study Club and the Junior Service League.

Mrs. Williamson had lived in Shawnee since 1927.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and two sisters, Lucile Heister and Mildred Littleton.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Riley Kent and Carolyn Williamson of Denver, Colo., Gary B. and Rebecca Williamson of Arlington, Texas, and Michael G. and Mary Williamson of Shawnee; eight grandchildren, Kirk Williamson and Josh Williamson, both of Denver, Stefani Gentry of Plano, Texas, Brent Williamson and Jered Williamson, both of League City, Texas, Emily Williamson of Tulsa, and Katie Williamson and Annie Williamson, both of Shawnee; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Dr. Rockford Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 3337, Shawnee OK 74801.

Linda Cairl Council

Linda Cairl Council, Chandler, died Tuesday in Tulsa at the age of 56.

A graveside service will be 9 a.m. Friday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. The Rev. Bruce Newby will officiate.

She was born June 12, 1945, in Clifton, Texas, the daughter of A.C. and Jewel (Waits) Ivy.

The registered nurse had lived in Chandler the last year and a half.

Her father preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Council of Chandler; mother, Jewel Ivey of Hillsboro, Texas; three daughters and a son-in-law, Julie and James Kinsella of Fredrick, Md., Tamera Littlejohn of Chandler and Sharron Littlejohn of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Edward Ivy of Jackson, Ark., and Morris Ivy of Hillsboro; mother-in-law, Frieda G. Crane of Chandler; one grandson, and many other relatives.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Charles Henery Boston

Earlsboro resident Charles Henery Boston died Tuesday in Seminole. He was 82.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Johnson Church of God. The Rev. Charles Higgins will officiate. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery.

The son of Charlie Montgomery and Viola Boston was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Oklahoma. He had lived in and around Earlsboro for many years.

Boston, a retired carpenter, was a member of the Johnson Church of God.

On April 15, 1977, he and Helen Walker were married in Oklahoma City.

His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded Boston in death.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Boston, Earlsboro; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Rick Bayliff of Shawnee, Kathy and Johnny Boston of Oklahoma City, Sherry Winn of Oklahoma City and Lauria Beauchamp of Seminole; a son, John Beauchamp of Oklahoma City; a sister, Rosene Harrison of Tulsa; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Maurice E. Lee Sr.

Maurice E. Lee Sr., Shawnee, died Thursday in a Norman nursing home. He was 88.

A graveside service will be 9 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born Jan. 21, 1913, in Cleburn, Texas, the son of A.O. and Myrtle (Brown) Lee.

On Nov. 27, 1934, he married Ellen Katherine Howell in Shawnee.

Lee had lived in Shawnee most of his life and was a veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Shawnee Studio for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Lawrence Lee and granddaughter Theresa Lee.

Survivors include his former wife, Katherine Lee of Shawnee; daughter, Nancy Bird of Oklahoma City; two sons, Maurice Lee of Canton, Texas, and Marc Lee of Norman; a sister, Iona Murphy of Casper, Wyo.; seven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Bessie Mae Weins Wagoner

Shawnee resident Bessie Mae Weins Wagoner died Wednesday at her sister's home at the age of 82.

She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Winslow, Ark., to Abraham Weins and Mary Lane West. She married Ted Crow, who died in 1956. She later married Arnold Wagoner. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, a brother, Cleston Weins, and sister-in-law, Juanita Weins, infant twin brothers and an infant great-niece.

She is survived by two brothers, Albert Weins of Mannford and Glen Weins of Shawnee; three sisters, Lessie Gregg, Essie Higgins and Linda Gregg, all of Shawnee; seven nieces, including Rebecca Gregg Pringle and Sherry Lenox, both of Shawnee, and Gina Higgins of Meeker; eight nephews, including Bryan, Phillip, Jason and Steve Gregg, Jason Weins all of Shawnee, and Mark Higgins of Maud; 18 great-nieces and nephews and special friend, Wilma Wren.

Harold L. Hofmeister

Harold L. "Smokey" Hofmeister of Harrah died Thursday at a Harrah nursing home. He was 79.

He was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Wisconsin. He married Virginia Murrell in April 1975.

Most of his adult life was spent as a truck driver, as he drove for Kramer and for Transcon in Michigan and Red Ball in Oklahoma. He retired in 1983 after more than 34 years of service as a union driver for local No. 523.

Hofmeister also drove a bus for McLoud Public Schools for several years. He left his recent job as McLoud Schools security officer because of health reasons.

Hofmeister, a veteran of World War II, joined the Army in 1942. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the American Motorcycle Association.

He also was a horseman who led many parades. He and his wife were active members of the Newalla Roundup Club.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Murrell Hofmeister of Harrah; and a son, Richard Hofmeister of Oklahoma City.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday with Brad Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Eunice Susan DeWeber

Eunice Susan DeWeber, Edmond, died Thursday in Tulsa. She was 96.

She was born March 13, 1905, in Prague to Thomas Jasper and Cora Etna (Morton) Loafman.

She married Ralph Albert DeWeber Dec. 29, 1937, in Sapulpa. He preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1997.

She was a member of the Edmond First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sisters, Nelda Mays, Prague, and Bernice Callan, Bartlesville, and sister-in-law, Jackie Loafman, Livingston, Texas.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.
