Lester G. McGill

Lester G. McGill, Shawnee, died Thursday in a local nursing home. The former Roseville, Calif., resident was 90.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Johnny Geyer and Doyle Carpenter will officiate. Entombment will be at Sunset Mausolem in Berkley, Calif.

Other information is pending.

Donald L. Johnson

Lifelong Shawnee resident Donald L. Johnson died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 52.

Johnson was born March 8, 1947, in Shawnee to Lee Johnson Jr. and Peggy (Nelson) Johnson. He married Jarry S. Cook on June 9, 1997 in Shawnee.

He graduated from Bethel High School in 1965. He attended St. Gregory's College, Central State University in Edmond and Oklahoma Baptist University, from which he graduated with a degree in business management.

Johnson worked as a procurement manager at Tinker Air Force Base for 32 years and was also a farmer and rancher. He was a retired drill sergeant from the 95th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Reserve Unit of Shawnee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Pink Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jarry Johnson, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Carey and Gerald Mayhew and Donita and Greg Baptiste, all of Shawnee; mother, Peggy Johnson, Bethel; stepdaughter, Michelle Floyd, Bethany; stepson, Russell Floyd, Shawnee; two grandchildren, Taylor Baptiste and Shawn Mayhew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Johnson Jr., on July 2, 1996; brother, Gary A. Johnson, on Feb. 9, 1981; and four grandparents, Lee Johnson Sr. and Gertie Johnson, Frank and Frances Nelson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Junior Mize officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Clayton D. Ditsworth

Tecumseh resident Clayton D. Ditsworth died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 45.

Ditsworth was born Jan. 11, 1954, in Shawnee to Glenn W. and Marjorie H. (Kleinhekel) Ditsworth. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1972 and had lived in the Shawnee area most of his life. He was a kitchen manager for Amigo's Restaurant.

He had owned and operated D&H Backhoe Service from 1970 and 1975. He also owned and operated a night club in Jones from 1980 to 1984.

Survivors include his friends Les Poe, Brandi Poe, Harvey Valentine, Jay Davis and Donna Williams, all of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death his parents.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Dr. James Sill officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Dorthy Martin

Former Shawnee resident Dorthy Martin died Wednesday in Riverbank, Calif. She was 88.

Mrs. Martin was a native of Oklahoma and had lived in Shawnee for 40 years before moving to Modesto, Calif., in 1990. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Shawnee and attended the Foursquare Gospel Church in Modesto, Calif.

Survivors include her son, Thurmon Martin, Modesto, Calif.; daughter Cozaey West, Riverbank, Calif.; sister, Ollie Pittman, McLoud; brothers, Troy Pittman, Seminole; Foy Pittman, Williston, N.D.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Andrew Ray Narcomey

Del City resident Andrew Narcomey died Wednesday at the age of 84.

He was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Seminole County to Peter James Cheparaney and Lucy (Stamp) Narcomey. He lived in Seminole County until 1952 and had lived in Del City since 1956.

He married Susie Kinney and worked in the oilfield industry. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Central Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. He was the founder of Indian League Softball in the Oklahoma City area.

Narcomey was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Hamblin of Shawnee; two foster daughters, Kristi Morris of Tulsa and Agnes Webster of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Phillip Narcomey of Lawton and Paul Narcomey of Salt Lake, Utah; one sister, Wisey Narcomey of Bowlegs; four grandchildren, Jeanette Hamblin, Oklahoma City, Mahtoh Hamblin, Donnie Hamblin, Phoenix, Ariz., and Andrew Hamblin, Savoy, Ill.; one foster grandchild, Brandon Wolfe, Oklahoma City; and five great-grandchilden.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Derek Daniel Sale

Prague High School graduate Derek Sale, Winchester, Va., died Wednesday in Prague at the age of 22.

He was born Jan. 19, 1979, to Garry D. and Linda Martin Sale in Winchester. He was a modular lamp mechanic at General Electric in Winchester and was a member of the Winchester Moose Lodge No. 1283.

He also was a volunteer with the Stonewall Ruritan Club.

Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Sale of Bethel; father, Garry Sale of Winchester; one sister, Zorina Chaffin, one brother, Zebulon Sale, all of Winchester and grandmother, Frances Martin of Stephenson, Va.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Winchester with the Rev. Dr. James H. Utt and the Rev. Ruth Crum officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stonewall Ruritan Club, P.O. Box 86, Clearbrook, VA 22624.

Omps Funeral Home, Winchester, is in charge of arrangements.

Stephen Keith Braden Jr.

Former Agra resident Stephen Keith Braden Jr., Spencer, died Tuesday in Archer City, Texas. He was 23.

Braden was born Oct. 19, 1977, in Oklahoma City to Stephen Keith Braden Sr. and Ramona (Ritter) Braden Olson.

He lived in Spencer the past two years, moving there from Agra.

Preceding him in death were his father, paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.

Surviving are his parents, Ramona and Dave Olson of Spencer; one brother, Andrew Olson of Edmond; three sisters, Misty Howard of Agra, Shawna Radke of Fairland, Okla., and Stephanie Fincham of Wichita, Kan.; maternal grandfather, W.J. Ritter of Depew, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Don Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Stroud Cemetery.

Margaret (Brown) Stallard

Margaret (Brown) Stallard, 84, Fort Worth, Texas, died Wednesday.

She was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Howe, Okla. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1933 and moved to Hominy, Okla., where she was a beautician for two years.

She also met her future husband, Lee "Bill" Stallard, while in Hominy. They were married March 1, 1935, in Cleveland, Okla.

The two were longtime residents of Oklahoma City who moved to Fort Worth to live with their daughter and son-in-law.

Mrs. Stallard was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Survivors include her husband; her son, Clarence of Tuttle; daughter, Karen Stetson of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Fred Brown of Bedford, Texas.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Baggerley-South Funeral Home, 5708 S. Western, Oklahoma City OK 73019.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Cemetery, 104 and South Walker in Oklahoma City.

Memorials may be made to VITAS (Hospice) Charitable Fund, 2501 Parkview Drive, Suite 600, Fort Worth Texas 76102.

Wes Vychytil

Wes Vychytil, 93, Meeker, died Thursday in Meeker.

He was born Sept. 28, 1908, in Prague, the son of Joseph and Augusta (Kromfski) Vychytil. He was a farmer, dairyman and cattle rancher.

On Dec. 24, 1930, he and Cecil Taney Pickett were married in Chandler. They were married for 44 years before her death. He later married Gertie Turner in August 1976.

He was a member of the Lutheran church. In 1933, he moved to Pottawatomie County. He later moved to Lincoln County.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Ed Schima; and three sisters, Grady Dostal, Josie Bell and Kathryn Andrews.

Survivors include his wife, Gertie Vychytil, Meeker; his daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Max Watkins of Meeker; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Debbie and Roy Hammons of Tecumseh; three grandsons and their wives, Todd and Kim Watkins of Meeker, Shane and Kristi Watkins of Ardmore and Mark and Shelly Watkins of Prague; two sisters, Leda Parkerson of Winfield, Kan., and Lenora Harrold of Tahlequah, and four great-granddaughters.

The casket will remained open until service time, but will not be reopened.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker.

Mickey Cooper

Mickey Cooper, 92, Tecumseh, died Wednesday in Tecumseh.

She was born Oct. 5, 1908, in Dale, the daughter of Robert Colter and Annie Elizabeth (Bales) Morton. She attended school at Valley Grove and was a graduate of Dale High School.

On Oct. 5, 1929, she and Virgil M. Cooper were married in Chandler.

Mrs. Cooper came to Shawnee, where she was a court reporter for County Judge Leroy Cooper. She was also a beautician.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 30, in Tecumseh. She served as a past worthy matron and was a member of the Business and Professional Women in Tecumseh.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, one daughter, Jeannine Brooks, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson, Rodney Cooper.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, B.J. and Norma Cooper of Oklahoma City, and Phil and Penny Cooper of Austin, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Bob Anderson, Doyle Loveland and Junior Mize will officiate. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Dale Bales

McLoud resident Dale Bales died Friday in Shawnee. He was 73.

Bales was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Broken Arrow to William "Ed" and Nettie (Long) Bales. He was raised in St. Louis where he graduated high school in 1945. He lived in Maud, Wyoming and California before moving the Shawnee in 1959. In 1971 he moved to McLoud.

Bales married Jeanne Bohannon in Maud on March 13, 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Southwest Ford in Oklahoma City where he was body shop manager.

He was a 32nd degree Master Mason and member of the Myrtle Lodge, and a Scottish Rite Mason and Guthrie Consistory. He was past president of Oklahoma National Jamboree Association, Inc. and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Taft, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Bales, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Andre Whitson, McLoud; daughter, Jennifer Thomas, Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Judy Bales, Prague; Kelly and Pat Bales, McLoud; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Krista and Chris Stroup, Tony Whitson, Larissa Jones, Riki and John Cantrell, Scott Richardson, Becki and Tom Lisle, Kelly and Ashley Bales, Crystal Bales, Leo Wendt; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Aunzell and J.C. Fillman; Shirley and Ed Lowden; and Noretta and Don Sullivan; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lloyd and Doyle Bales and Billy Dale Carnes.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan Younger officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Edward Elliott

Edward "Ed" Elliott, Shawnee, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 79.

He was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Shawnee to George Elliott and Haddie (Douglas) Elliott. He attended Shawnee Public Schools. He worked for 26 years as a machinist in building 3001 at Tinker Air Force Base.

He was married to Vera Long on Aug. 22, 1943, in Wewoka. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Liberty Baptist.

He lived in Shawnee most of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Vera Elliott of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Earnestine Elliott of Shawnee and Michael and Diane Elliott of Shawnee; one daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Richard Stevenson of Bethel; one brother, John Elliott of Cushing; two sisters, Maxcine Bryce of Bethel and Jane Craven of Shawnee; two sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law, Wendy Elliott of Shawnee and Bessie and Jim Elliott of California; three granddaughters and spouses, Carol and Dean Reames of Norman; Ladawn and Russell Etchieson of Tecumseh; and Kathy Switch of Shawnee; four grandsons and spouses, Richard and Canda Stevenson of Bethel; Michael Elliott of Shawnee; Bradley Elliott of Shawnee; Mike and Dee Switch of Muskogee; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Matthews, Phil Thompson and Jim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
