Alice Mae Isbell

Longtime Shawnee resident Alice Mae Isbell died Monday in a local hospital. She was 86.

She was born on March 17, 1913, in Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert Porter and Mary Eliza (Coy) Isbell.

She was a graduate of Shawnee High School and worked in a retail merchant collection department.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Isbell; four sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include her sister, Thelma Johnson, Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Isbell, Salina, Kan.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Priscilla May Brackeen

Priscilla May Brackeen, Shawnee, died Tuesday at her home. She was 76.

Mrs. Brackeen was born on Aug. 3, 1923, in Eakly, the daughter of Jonathan and Josie Smith.

She graduated from Eakly High School and Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in education.

She married Robert G. Brackeen on May 18, 1943.

Mr. and Mrs. Brackeen established the Brackeen Motor Company in 1950.

Mrs. Brackeen was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan and Josie Smith; a son, Timothy James Brackeen; and a sister, Velma Cooke.

Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Brackeen, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary G. and Paula Brackeen, Shawnee; Dennis R. and Bobbie Brackeen, Shawnee; 10 grandchildren, Clint and Becky Stockton, John and Lori Bruce, Natalie Brackeen, Craig Brackeen, Rhett Brackeen, Michael and Shannon Brackeen, Michael and Kena Burch, Zack and Linda Burch, Geoffrey Burch and Teddy Burch.; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Brantley Stockton; cousins, Jack Shelton, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mildred Zinn, Bakersfield, Calif.; and friend Charlotte Ingram, Tecumseh, Mae Ann's Angels.

Memorials may be made to Shawnee Regional Hospital Cancer Center 1102 W. MacArthur Shawnee, OK 74804 or Hospice of Shawnee 2803 N. Saratoga, Shawnee, OK 74804.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Clewell officiating.

Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Jo A. Fowler

Jo A. Fowler, 74, Wichita, Kan., died Monday in a Wichita hospital. Mrs. Fowler was born on Aug. 16, 1926, to Sam and Elizabeth (Robertson) Hewlett.

She graduated from Shawnee High School and earned a degree in social services from Texas State Women's University in Denton, Texas.

She married Paul Fowler on April 3, 1953, in Denton, Texas.

Mrs. Fowler worked as a school teacher at Goddard (Kan.) Elementary's special education program.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Elizabeth Hewlett.

Survivors include her husband, Paul A. Fowler, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul F. and Deena Fowler, Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Elizabeth Fowler Ballantine, Plano, Texas; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Fowler and Evan Fowler, both of Wichita, Kan.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Wichita, Kan.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park Trinity Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Akin officiating.

Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Manzella Brown

Manzella Brown of Tecumseh died Sunday in Seminole. He was 87.

He was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Newalla to B.B. "Bubba" and Roberta (Alexander) Brown.

He was reared in Newalla and Langston, where he attended school. He was a graduate of Langston High School.

Brown earned his bachelor's degree at Langston University in 1950 and his master's degree at The University of Oklahoma in 1954.

On Dec. 23, 1940, he married Essie M. Booker in Ada. Following their marriage, they lived in Tecumseh.

Brown taught many subjects, including auto mechanics. He began teaching in Hotulka, Okla., and later taught auto mechanics for 18 years at Booker T. Washington in Tulsa, until his retirement in 1979.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters, Trelawney Hyatt, Jeneata Brown, Mittye Kirk and Sedalia Brown Gage; brother, Edward Loyal Brown, and an infant brother.

Surviving are his wife Essie M. Brown of the home; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Alexander of Tecumseh; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Joann Brown of Stringtown; one sister, Jennetta Hardiman of San Francisco, Calif.; brother, S.M. Courtney Brown of Newalla; sister-in-law, Anna Jean Brown of Shawnee; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh with Jason Berg, Jehovah's Witness, officiating. Burial will follow in Earlsboro Cemetery.

Mary Jim Lyle

Mary Jim Lyle of Seminole died Monday at her home. She was 71.

Lyle was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Mansfield, Ark., to Emil Alexander and Zella Mae (Fuqua) Points.

On Nov. 12, 1955, she married Ermal Styles Lyle in Sayre and he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1995.

She moved from Wichita Falls, Texas, to Seminole 40 years ago.

Lyles retired from Wal-Mart in Seminole where she worked as a greeter.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Perry Points, Hollis Ray Points and John Points.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon Lyle and Jennifer Webb, Earlsboro, and James and Janell Lyle, Tulsa; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erma Huff and Jake Buckmaster, Seminole, and Marie and Larry Beauford, Seminole; 14 grandchildren, Brandon Lyle, Jennifer Webb, Casey and Cindy Lyle, Bianca Beauford Loftis, C.D. Loftis, Angel and Jamie Lewis, John Dempsey Jr., Kevin Lyle, Genevive Barnes, Jake Buckmaster Jr. and Justin and Ryan Huff; and two great-grandchildren, Alicia Dempsey and Clinton Lee Lewis.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield and the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Claude Clayton Eakens

Claude Clayton Eakens of Konawa died Monday in Maud. He was 64.

Eakens was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Okemah to Ada and Walter Eakens.

He married Flora Belle on June 9, 1989, in Gainesville, Texas.

The mechanic lived most of his life in Konawa.

He is survived by his wife Flora Eakens of the home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Teel and the Rev. Darrell Stinett officiating. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery.

Robert Monroe

Robert "Bobby" Monroe, 44, of Shawnee died Sunday at a Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born May 24, 1957, in Longview, Wash., to William Monty and Edna (Cooksey) Monroe.

He attended school at Longview, Wash., Soldier Creek and Carl Albert.

Monroe worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a machinist.

He married Pamela Roe in Shawnee on Sept. 29, 1978.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guthrie.

Monroe had lived in Shawnee since 1978.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, father William Monroe, one brother and one niece.

Surviving are his wife Pamela of the home; daughter, Tara Larney of Oklahoma City; mother and stepfather, Edna and J.C. Ozbirn of Nicoma Park; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Candice and Roger Wooten of Nicoma Park and Penny and Jeff Linn of Choctaw; two brothers, John Monroe of East Glacier, Mont., and William Monroe of Seattle, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives; friends, Kelly Call and Donnie Davis; mother-in-law, Shirley Megehee; sisters-in-law, Janice and Steve Kurak, Rhonda Rowe, Kristy Morrell, Tonia Megehee; brothers-in-law, Douglas Megehee and Mike Rowe.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

David Raphael Green

David Raphael Green, 76, of Norman died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Green was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Stratford, the son of Mary and William Green.

He was reared in the Konawa area and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are one brother, Bill Green of Jenks, and two sisters, Lisa Scott of Seminole and Annette Miller of Sasakwa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Mathew Brown, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary will be 6 p.m. today in the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa.

Jerry Lee Welch

Jerry Lee Welch, 61, of Mountainview, Okla. died Monday.

He and fraternal twin Phoebe Ann Welch Baxx were born Nov. 11, 1939, in Tecumseh to Clabern J. and Verna Nella Welch.

He attended grade school in Tecumseh and Shawnee, and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1957.

Welch then joined the service, where he spent three years in France. While in France, he married his wife, Nicole, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Rapp and Caroline McDonald of Orlando, Fla.; two grandsons, Justin Rapp and Derek Alexander of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Welch Martin of Dallas, Texas, and Phoebe Ann Welch Baxx of Lake City, Colo.; four brothers, Richard C. Welch of Oklahoma City, Claude W. Welch of Largo, Fla., Weldon A. Welch of Rapid City, S.D., and Bob D. Welch of Dallas, Texas.

Memorials may be made to any charity.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
