Terry Lee Pitts

Altus resident Terry Lee Pitts died Tuesday. He was 36.

Pitts was born Oct. 6, 1962, in Oklahoma City to Milton and Judy (Cagle) Pitts.

He married Julie Evans on Feb. 11, 1993, in San Antonio, Texas.

He lived in Norman, then moved to Altus and the Jackson County area. He owned and operated Pitts Ag Flying Inc. south of Altus for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Julie, of the home; son, Cody Pitts, of the home; parents, Milton and Judy Pitts, Altus; sisters and brothers-in-law, Karry and Bill Raines, Norman, and Kim and Randy Albert, Washington, Okla.; maternal grandmother, Sibyl Cagle, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will be at the Wanette Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Ray Brumley

Cushing resident Ray Brumley died Thursday at his home. He was 62.

Brumley was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Atoka County to Otis and Gracie (Deskins) Brumley.

He married Joyce Cole on Aug. 2, 1958, in Asher.

He graduated from East Central University in Ada in 1958 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and science education.

He was Cushing Middle School principal, teacher and administrator in Cushing and retired in 1995. He was selected as Oklahoma's Science Teacher of the Year in 1963.

He also was honored by a House resolution authored by Rep. Dale Wells of Cushing, and the Cushing Middle School campus was named for him. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cushing, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his wife Joyce, of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Victor Ray and Leann Brumley, Ardmore, and Chad Alan Brumley, Tulsa; grandchildren, Leah Rae and Brayden Kyle Brumley, both of Ardmore; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Marie Brumley, Altus; sister, Imogene Cleveland, Glenpool, and LaVerne Loman, Oklahoma City; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Meveline Mozella Carroll; brothers-in-law, James Carroll, Evert Wotipka and Fred Loman.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Cushing, with Dr. Lonny Lee officiating. Burial will be at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Ray Brumley Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1453, Cushing, 74023, or the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

James E. Reed

Shawnee resident James E. Reed died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 71.

Reed was born June 22, 1927, in Idabel to Frank and Carrie (Van Heuser) Reed.

He married Mary Ebbie Blevins on July 17, 1951, in Oklahoma City.

He was vice president of Carson Machine and Supply. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He moved to Shawnee from Oklahoma City in 1984.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Reed, Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, James Edward Jr. and Barbara Reed, Oklahoma City, and Mark Alan and Lori Reed, Shawnee; brothers, Albert Reed, Texas; Travis Reed, Alabama; Bob J. Briton, California; Frank E. Reed, Oklahoma City; Ben O. Britton, Carlsbad, N.M.; and Hardy Reed, Saudi Arabia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church, with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Billie Lafon Richmond

Cherokee Village, Ark., resident Billie Lafon Richmond died May 20 at her home after a long illness. The former Shawnee resident was 72.

Mrs. Richmond was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Shawnee, to Bryan and Lola Holland.

She married Rodney Wayne Richmond in Shawnee in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1956.

She graduated from Shawnee High School and attended two years of college. She was a retired executive secretary in banking. She was a member of Eastern Star in Florida and once was a member of Wesley Methodist Church in Shawnee.

Survivors include her brother, Bryan Holland; daughters, Connie Ford, Westmont, Ill., and Linda Dabbs, Salem, Ark.; grandchildren, Teresa Beck, Connie Lyn Beck-Tess, Steven Beck and Thomas Ford; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday with the Rev. David Clewell officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee or Eastern Ozarks Hospice, Cherokee Village, Ark. 72529.

Juanita Louise Cash

Dallas, Texas, resident Juanita Louise Cash died Tuesday at a Dallas hospital. The former Shawnee resident was 77.

Mrs. Cash was born Aug. 25, 1921, in South Rock Creek to Bill and Grace Adams.

She graduated from Shawnee High School. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1989 with 25 years of service as a supervisor in the office of blueprints.

She also worked as a secretary to the district manager of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee until she moved to Dallas in 1995.

Survivors include her sons, Hugh Cash, Dallas, Texas, and Jim Cash, Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter, Kim Cash, Dallas, Texas; sisters, Jean Adams, Midwest City, and Alma Taylor, Shawnee; grandchildren, Stephanie Cash of New York, N.Y., and Stephen Ross Cash, Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Huay A. Cash; her parents; and her sister, Geneva Martin.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Janie Kirt Morris officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Marsha Lynn Cress

Former Chandler resident Marsha Lynn Cress died Monday in Fort Worth, Texas. She was 32.

Mrs. Cress was born in Norwalk, Ohio, on Dec. 16, 1966, to Ted and Virginia (Holder) Russ.

She lived in Burleson, Texas, for many years, moving there from Chandler.

Survivors include her husband, James Cress, of the home; parents, Ted and Virginia Russ, Chandler; daughters, Amber Faye Cress, Kendra Lynn Cress and Ronny Lea Cress, all of the home; brother, Larry Durr, El Paso, Texas; sister, Rhonda Pierce, Oakland, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Park Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Verona C. Eby Miller

Chandler resident Verona C. Eby Miller died Thursday at her home. She was 94.

Mrs. Miller was born April 16, 1905, in Sparks to Daniel and Nora (Esterbrook) Eby.

She married Lewis Madison Miller on May 22, 1930, in Chandler. He preceded her in death in 1987.

She was an active member of Forest Baptist Church. She graduated from Sparks High School in 1924 and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she received a lifetime teaching certificate.

She taught school for many years, was a homemaker and worked as bookkeeper for the family bulldozer business.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Delroy and Wanda Miller and Lewis H. and Carol Jean Miller, all of Chandler; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Leon Earp, Chandler, and Lorene and Flavious Richardson, Hobart; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clarence Eby; an infant sister, Louise; and a sister, Emily Decker.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Zion Cemetery in Chandler, with the Rev. Forrest Whitmore officiating, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Richard William Hill Jr.

Richard William Hill Jr. died Monday in a car accident. He was 27.

Hill was born June 22, 1971, in Orlando, Fla., to Richard W. and Linda M. Hill.

He was a student at Rose State College, where he was studying to be an X-ray technician. He worked at Midwest City Regional Hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Richard W. and Linda M. Hill, Tecumseh; brother, Michael R. Hill, Norman; sister, Crystal A. Hill; nephew, Devon G. Hill; and grandparents, William R. and Ruby Hill, Oklahoma City, and Glen R. and Beverly L. Dick, Bethany.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Countryside Pentecostal Church on SH 102, north of SH 9.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Lena Mary Blakley

Lena Mary Blakley died Thursday in Oklahoma City. She was 94.

Mrs. Blakely was born on Nov. 19, 1904, in Stroud to Charles and Bertie Elizabeth (Gaskins) Melton.

She married Leslie Blakley on Nov. 2, 1924, in Stroud. He preceded her in death in 1989.

She was a resident of Davenport and a pastry cook for Baptist Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Davenport.

Survivors include her son, Charles Blakley, Oklahoma City; daughters, Patsy A. Ellis, Davenport, and Kathy Riddle, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and seven sisters.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Davenport, with the Rev. Rodney Amos officiating. Burial will be 4 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Charles Douglas Jones

Talihina resident Charles Douglas "C.D." Jones died Thursday at a veteran's home in Talihina. He was 71.

Jones was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Skiatook to Verrell "V.V." and Billie (Williamson) Jones.

He was a longtime Earlsboro resident before moving to Talihina. He was a retired oil field worker and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Charles B. and Sharon Jones, Shawnee, and Donald D. and Peggy Jones, Sulphur; daughter, Brenda J. Lewis, Whitesboro, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law, Kenneth Jones, St. Louis, Mo., and Mo and Blain Jones, Little; sister, Judy Smith, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Deloris Jones.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Whitfield. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
