Daniel Gregory Krauter

Daniel Gregory Krauter died Sunday in Prague. He was 62.

He was born March 28, 1938, in Oklahoma City the son of Gregory Charles Krauter and Marie Irene (Rempe) Krauter.

He married Carolyn Falk in Oklahoma City on Sept. 2, 1963. He had been a resident of the Prague area since 1955.

He had served in the United States Army and was a retired warehouseman for Canadian Valley Electric Company. He was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Krauter of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Sheila Krauter, Prague, Keith and Mary Krauter, Prague, and Mark Krauter, Prague; one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and John Cook, Del City; six grandchildren, Abigail Cook, Holli Cook, Chase Krauter, Kelsey Krauter, Leslie Krauter and Mason Krauter.

A rosary and wake service will be held 7:30 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Lorena Croslin

Lorena Croslin of Meeker died Saturday at a Meeker nursing home. She was 71.

She was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Taylor, Ky., to Goble and Mollie Cox.

Mrs. Croslin was a retail sales clerk and a homemaker.

Surviving are her three children, Robert Croslin of Harrah, Debbie Barette of Skyvalley, Calif., and Vickie Weiner of Palmdale, Calif.; a sister, Clorena Alvey; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Private family services are planned. Local arrangements were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

E.B. Myers Jr.

Graveside services for E.B. "Buck" Myers Jr., 62, Shawnee, are set for 2 p.m. today at Brown Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.

Myers died Sunday in Shawnee.

He was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Shawnee to E.B. "Red" and Alma (Webb) Myers. He was reared in Tecumseh and lived in Shawnee most of his life.

He attended Tecumseh schools, Seminole State College and Oklahoma Baptist University. He was self-employed for many years and owned Red's Alternator Shop for 15 years. He retired from TDK after working 10 years as a machine operator.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He and Carol G. Mathis were married March 14, 1959, in Asher.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Carol G. Myers, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Buck and Joy Myers, Shawnee; three daughters and son-in-laws, Kelli and David Kingsley, Stacey and Dickie Nichols, Angela and Michael Brandt, all of Shawnee; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Fred McDuff, Shawnee, and Susan and Jack Barnard, Holdenville; uncle, W.W. "Bill" Webb, Tecumseh; 14 grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends.

Ruby May Bentley

Former Henryetta resident Ruby May Bentley, 98, died Wednesday in Tulsa.

She was born May 15, 1903, in Holdenville, Indian Territory, to Henry and Lillie Brinson. She was a 1921 graduate of Henryetta High School.

On July 8, 1923, she married William Brooks Bentley in Henryetta; he preceded her in death in August of 1974.

She worked for the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Henryetta.

Survivors include her daughter and two sons-in-law, Mary Pearl and Barton Jackson, Houston, Texas; Kenneth McMullin, Tulsa; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. William and Patricia Bentley, Tecumseh; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wilma McMullin, in 2000; and a great-grandson, William Blake Bentley.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Westlawn Cemetery, Henryetta, under the direction of Stanley Funeral Home, Tulsa. The Rev. William H. Bentley will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Broadway United Methodist Church, Tecumseh, memorial fund.

Edith Jane Gebhart

Graveside services for Edith Jane Gebhart, 81, Stillwater, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Sunnyside-Pickett Cemetery, Meeker.

The Rev. Carol Fincher will officiate and Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler is in charge of arrangements.

Viewing will be at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Meeker.

Mrs. Gebhart died Tuesday in Stillwater.

She was born March 22, 1920, near Chandler to Leslie and Minnie (Weiker) Newman.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Meeker and a homemaker. She lived in the Meeker area for many years before moving to Stillwater.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jewell Oliver Gebhart, and sister.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Eldon Gebhart, Stillwater, and John Jay Gebhart, Richardson, Texas; one daughter, Mary Ellen Cantrell, Tullahoma, Tenn., and four grandchildren.

Harold Douglas Deese

Services for Harold Douglas Deese, 72, Depew, are set for 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Chapel, Stroud.

The Revs. Randy Overstreet, Jerry Murfin and J.D. Moore will officiate and burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery in Depew.

He died Tuesday in Depew.

Deese was born May 5, 1929, in Gypsy to Harold and Minnie Reca (Haddox) Deese.

Deese, a retired welder, had been a Depew resident all of his life.

He married Mary Lou Haskins May 4, 1963, in Bristow.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, of the home; one son, Buddy Deese, Crowder; three daughters, Cheryl Patterson, Paintsville, Ky., Connie Baker and Gail Reed, both of Depew; mother, Minnie Reca Deese, Edmond, two brothers, Grayden Deese and Paul Deese, Edmond; four sisters, Louise Mariott, Van Buren, Ark., Molly Pendergrass, Tulsa, Jenny Daire and Sue Upton, both of Edmond; seven grandchildren and seven great-gandchildren.

David Raphael Green

David Raphael Green of Norman died Monday in Oklahoma City. He was 76.

Green was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Stratford, the son of Mary (Bouska) and William Green.

He grew up in the Konawa area and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Green was a signal man who served on U.S.S. Solomons for three years in the South Pacific during World War II.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Joseph Green and Johnnie Green, and two sisters, Catherine Kuestersteffen and Marie Gustafson.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Green of Jenks; two sisters and brother-in-law, Aylce and J.W. Scott of Seminole and Annette Miller of Sasakwa, and sister-in-law, Josephine Green of Tontitown, Ark.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Mathew Brown O.S.B. officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary was held Wednesday in the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa.

Bill Underwood

Bill Underwood, 83, died Saturday in his Shawnee home.

Underwood, the son of Lee and Bessie (Patterson) Underwood, was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Talihina, Okla.

He attended Talihina schools.

On Oct. 8, 1939, he and Ruth Bumpas were married.

Underwood was a service representative for Frigidaire Division of General Motors for approximately 10 years. He later was a franchised dealer for Frigidaire.

Underwood was also a farmer and rancher in the Carthage, Mo., area. He moved to Shawnee when he retired 13 years ago.

Underwood, who served the U.S. Army for 15 years, was a company commander with the 45th Division in the Sicilian and Italian Campaigns of World War II.

He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He later served in the National Guard and the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Underwood, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, participated in the Masonic Lodge and the Association of Retired Officers.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Gladys Wooten, and one brother, Everett Underwood.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William Underwood Jr. and Leigh of Atlanta, Ga., and Ronald Underwood of Honduras; five grandchildren, William Underwood II, Matthew Underwood, Anne Underwood, John Underwood and Jefferson Underwood; sisters and brother-in-law, ONeita Gargiulo of Ponca City, and Jimmie Evelyn Smith and Elvis of Ponca City; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Carl Bumpus and Pauline of Hugo, and Hurston Bumpas of Wichita, Kan., as well as many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Moore will officiate. Burial will be 3 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

John L. Armitage

Former longtime Shawnee resident John L. "Jack" Armitage died Friday in Mesa, Ariz., at age 76.

He was born April 22, 1925, in Superior, Wis., the son of Leslie and Gladys Galbraith Armitage.

Armitage served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II before graduating from Aurora College with a degree in business and economics.

In 1972, he brought Worthington Pump Corp. to Shawnee and served as president of the vertical pump manufacturing plant. In this position, he traveled the world, meeting with leaders and management in 45 countries concerning water pumps, providing irrigation, city water supplies and performing other duties for people all over the world. Armitage's work helped create 225 jobs for the Shawnee area.

In 1980, he founded Western Technology (WESTECH), which involved the manufacture of submersible oil well pumps and motors. WESTECH sold to Dresser Industries in 1982 and he became the general manager. Armitage left Shawnee in 1987.

During his time in Shawnee, Armitage was appointed to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission Advisory Council, was a member of Shawnee's Chamber of Commerce board of directors, headed the Chamber's industrial development team, was a member of the Vo-Tech Foundation and he was also influential in providing funding for the construction of the Mabee-Gerrer Museum and Art Gallery.

Armitage presented the city of Shawnee and former mayor Roy Sadler with the Bicentennial Liberty Bell.

Survivors include his wife, Talma, of Mesa; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jon Schwisow of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; son, John Armitage of Reno, Nev., and his three granddaughters, Laura; Kathryn, and Rebecca Schwisow of Highlands Ranch.

Services were held Wednesday in Mesa.

Gail Melson

Chandler resident Gail Melson died Wednesday in her home.

Services are pending under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
