Mary C. Springfield Seaton

Tecumseh resident Mary C. Springfield Seaton died Wednesday in Midwest City. She was 79.

Mrs. Seaton was born on Dec. 25, 1919, in Maud, to Ernest Eldon and Serena Emmaline (Tiffin) Sparkman.

She attended school at Harjo and Maud and was a longtime resident of Pottawatomie County.

She married Jess W. Springfield on Dec. 23, 1937, in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1977.

She married Vernon H. Seaton on Feb. 15, 1984, in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Seaton was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Serena Sparkman; and a brother, Glenn Sparkman.

Survivors include her husband, Vernon H. Seaton, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Susan Springfield, Midwest City; Larry and Genny Springfield, Midwest City; Walt and Sherry Springfield, Choctaw; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Judy and Fred White, Tecumseh; Nancy Seaton, Yukon; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, John and Lynell Seaton, San Angelo, Texas; Mark and Dianna Seaton, Tecumseh; three sisters, Arietta Cook, Amarillo, Texas; Francis Parvin, Friona, Texas; Maude Kemp, Pottsboro, Texas; a brother, Eldon Sparkman, Abernathy, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today, at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh, with Dr. Ray Sikes of First Baptist Church in Choctaw, officiating.

Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Angie Tufts

Angie Tufts, Shawnee, executive secretary to the Shawnee city manager for the past 17 years, died late Thursday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 69.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Shawnee. The Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, directed by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tufts suffered a severe heart attack at her home Aug. 24 and had been hospitalized since then.

She had been secretary to the city manager since her family moved to Shawnee in 1982 from Chapel Hill, N.C.

Among her earlier positions, Mrs. Tufts was executive secretary at Triangle Research Institute at Chapel Hill and executive secretary in the chemistry department at Kent State University, Ohio.

Mrs. Tufts was known for her expertise as a gourmet cook and for years, prepared dinners for Shawnee city commissioners before their meetings.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Bernardi) Ugolini, she was born Dec. 1, 1929, in Lake Forest, Ill.

Mrs. Tufts was a graduate of Mallicrof High School in northern Chicago, Ill.

She was married to Carl Tufts on April 7, 1956, at Great Lakes Naval Base, Ill. She was administrative assistant to the Ninth Naval District chaplain when they met.

Mrs. Tufts was a member of Rotary International and St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Tufts organized and directed the Santa Calling program at City Hall for six or seven years during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Reed Tufts of the home; a son, Carl Richard Tufts, Shawnee; a brother and sister-in-law, Dominic and Maureen Ugolini, Bloomington, Ill.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vaughan and Betty Tufts, Petowski, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family has designated the Rotary International Foundation as appropriate for memorials. They may be placed through Bob Downing, Shawnee Rotary Club secretary.

The family will receive friends at an open house at the Tufts home, 12 Turkey Knob, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Susie Mae Miller

Susie Mae Miller died Thursday in Oklahoma City. She was 80.

She was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Holdenville to Willie and Sissy (Cotcha) Powell. She had lived in Prague since 1976.

She married Charles Homer Miller on Dec. 24, 1934, in Seminole. She was a homemaker and seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, one son, six brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are eight daughters and four sons-in-law, Roxie and Elmer Haynes of Prague; Jeanette Postoak of Tulsa; JoAnn Frazier, Prague; Esther Fourkiller of Prague; Arlis and Samuel Banagas, Whitter, Calif.; Tojunia and Sonny Cole of Oklahoma City; Cindy Lynn Miller of Prague; and Kitty and Justin Fawcett of Prague; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Reo Starr Miller of Seminole; Dwayne and Linda Miller of Earlsboro; one sister, Molly Sewell of Wewoka; 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Freewill Baptist Church in Prague. Services will held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mekusukey Mission Gymnasium in Seminole. The Rev. Houston Tiger, Rev. T.J. Fixico and Rev. Randall Miller will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Snake Creek Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Blanche Stewart Lacquement

Blanche Stewart Lacquement, Okemah, died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 73.

Mrs. Lacquement was born July 22, 1926, in Okfuskee, the daughter of Floyd and Nealie (Finley) Stewart.

She married Chester Louis Lacquement on Nov. 28, 1942, in Okemah.

She was a homemaker and later worked at Interstate Travel Facility.

Mrs. Lacquement was a member of First Baptist Church of Cromwell and a longtime resident of Okfuskee County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lacquement on March 1, 1999; three children, Duston Rex, Frankie Levi and Cora Ann Lacquement; her parents, Floyd and Nealie Stewart; a brother; three sisters; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include seven sons, Chester Louis Lacquement Jr., Oklahoma City; Emil Justice Lacquement, Macomb; Mark Dee Lacquement, Pauls Valley; Wayne Lloyd Lacquement, Oklahoma; James Earnest Lacquement, Hoffman; Robert Stuart Lacquement, Houston, Texas; Otto Rene Lacquement, Okemah; seven daughters, Roberta JoAnn Childress, Okemah; Kathleen Elaine Bleeker, Blackwell; Phyllis Blanche Minor, Okemah; Patricia Alice McClure, Okemah; Rosie Marie Boyd, Decatur, Ala.; Evelene Marilyn Lacquement and Florence Sue Lacquement, both of the home; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah, with Pastor Lewis Lorvel officiating.

Burial will be in Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Alford James Campbell

Alford James Campbell, 76, Chandler, died Thursday at his home.

Campbell was born on July 28, 1923, in Chickela, Ark., to William Louis and Trecy (Minnie) Campbell.

He attended school near Searcy, Ark.

He married Amy Pauline Honeycutt on Sept. 29, 1942, in Lone Oak, Ark.

Campbell worked as a farmer, and later with the Singer Furniture Company in Truman, Ark.

He was a member of the Faith Believers Church in Sparks and the Senior Citizen's Group in Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Campbell on Dec. 19, 1997; and his parents, William and Trecy Campbell.

Survivors include his son, Edward Campbell, Chandler; three daughters, Wanda Heron, Maybelvale, Ark.; Carolyn Wilson, Bay, Ark.; Linda Jackson, Jonesboro, Ark.; two sisters, Gladys Brown, Humnoke, Ark.; Audrey Morgan, Letona, Ark.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today, at White Dove Cemetery with Brother Ron Walker officiating.

Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Bob D. McGuire

Shawnee resident Bob D. McGuire, 59, died Wednesday in Duncan.

McGuire was born on Oct. 19, 1939, in Shawnee, the son of Henry Luther McGuire and LaVona (McCafferty) Cottle.

He married Edna Johnson on June 16, 1959.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry McGuire and LaVona Cottle; and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Edna McGuire, Olathe, Kan.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Tonya McGuire, Duncan; three grandchildren, Shannon and Nickie, Duncan; Ashton, North Carolina; two stepgrandchildren, Summer and Nathan; an aunt and uncle, Ruth and Carnie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, in Tecumseh Cemetery, with the Rev. Ernest Strong officiating.

Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Adella Belle Blue

Adella Belle Blue of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing home. She was 86.

She was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Gracemont, Okla., to Harry Burns Miller and Edna Ethel McVay.

She was married to Ernest Caleb Blue on Dec. 23, 1935, in Anadarko.

The couple farmed in Gracemont for 20 years before moving to Oklahoma City. They moved to Shawnee in 1963.

While she was retired from Montgomery Wards, she spent most of her life as a homemaker.

Mrs. Blue was a member of Central Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and one brother, Harry Brown Miller.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Clifford White and Janell and John Sweeney, all of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Mary Blue, Tulsa; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; as well as one sister, Virginia Horn of El Reno, Okla.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Dwayne Dennis and Mike Shelburne officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park .

James L. McWilliams Sr.

James L. McWilliams Sr. of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local nursing home. he was 83.

Services are pending with Resthaven Funeral Home.

James Michael Johnson

James Michael Johnson, Paden, died Monday. He was 47.

He was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Okemah, the son of James Edward Johnson and Imogene "Jean" (McClain) Bahn. He had lived in Paden for 10 years.

Johnson, a machinist, and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Surviving are one son, Michael James Johnson of Danville, Ark; his mother Jean Bahn of Stroud; one brother, Arlie Taylor of Prague; two sisters, Debbie Taylor of Prague and Dianna Moore of Prague; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Stroud Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Ethridge officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services, Stroud.
