Robert N. Reavis

Robert N. Reavis, age 84 of Cushing, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Cushing Regional Hospital. The Family will greet friends at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer and Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Robert was born on Oct. 14, 1921 in Collinsville, Okla. to Joseph A. and Viva (Nichols) Reavis. He grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1939. Robert attended Oklahoma State University where he was active in the Oklahoma Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon and also the Vance Officer Training Corp. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1944. He married Loweta M. Baker on May 26, 1946 in Cushing. Robert entered the U.S. Military˜Army Air Corp on April 15, 1944 as a Pilot, flying P-51 and P-47 in Italy. While earning Eame Theater Ribbons with 3 bronze stars, American Theater Ribbon Victory Medals. Upon being released from active duty on March 31, 1946, he completed his military career with the U.S. Air Force Reserve's, retiring Oct. 14, 1981. Robert was a Deacon and Treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church while rearing his children. He owned and operated Reavis Insurance Agency with his father and was continuing to operate until his death. Robert was a member of the Lion's Club. He also served on the Alumni Board.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Loweta M. Reavis of the home; son Robert A. Reavis and wife Toni of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter Renee E. Sparks and husband Gary of Cushing; grandchildren, Alicin Reavis of N. Hollywood, Calif., Gena Reavis of Denton, Texas, Nick Reavis of Little Rock, Ark., and Julie Haikey of Cushing; great grandchildren Raen Baggett, Ian Baggett and Amilio Reavis.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Kathy Jean Barnes

Kathy Jean Barnes died Monday, April 17, 2006 in Tulsa at the age of 43. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, April 21 at the Highland Cemetery, Oilton, with Bro. Ryan Humble officiating. Services are entrusted to Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, Oilton.

Mrs. Barnes was born on June 17, 1962 to Jack and Dorothy Ann (Youtsey) Stephens in Tulsa. She grew up and attended school in Oilton. Mrs. Barnes loved horses, mountains, crafts, traveling with her husband and loved to draw. She was a member of the House of Prayer Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Barnes of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Robinson and husband Dustin of Oilton, and Katee Barnes of the home; one son, Judson Barnes of the home; one brother, Ed Stephens of Yale; three sisters, Debbie Tucker and husband Melvin of Jennings, Sherry Sutterfield and husband Larry of Oilton, Jackie Chambers and husband Jack of Warner, Okla.; father, Jack Stephens and mother, Dorothy Pursell and step-father, Jerry Pursell and step-mother, Cathy Stephens and three grandchildren.

Mary Jo Smith

Mary Jo Smith passed away on Friday, April 21, 2006 in the Resthaven Nursing Home at the age of 53 years.

The daughter of the late Robert and Wilma Smith, Mary Jo was born on Feb. 20, 1953 in Edmond, OK and was reared in the Guthrie Community.

She has lived in Cushing for the past 14 years with her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jim Stewart.

In addition to Donna and Jim she is survived by three sisters, Roberta Greenwell of Guthrie, Maxine Morton and her husband Wylie of Edmond and Wilma Rose and her husband Jim of Enid; two brothers, Robert Smith and his wife Retia and Leonard Smith and his wife Francis all of Guthrie; 14 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 3 p.m.. at the Summit View Cemetery at Guthrie with Reverend Larry Huff, pastor of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Linda Kimbley

Linda was born on May 13, 1951 in Cushing, Ok to Troy V. and Vada June Cook. She grew up in Cushing and attended Stillwater High School graduating in 1969. Linda later attended the University of Oklahoma graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1997. She worked for the State of Oklahoma as a Social Worker. Linda was involved in working with people with disabilities professionally and personally. She lived in Norman for the past thirteen years.

Linda died on Monday morning at the Norman Regional Hospital.

Linda is survived by her children: Jessica Buffington and husband Troy of Norman, Joe David Potter and wife Lacey of Grove, Jeremy Potter and Justin Potter both of Moore, Gregory Kimbley of Ada, brothers and sisters: Troy Cook and wife Retha, Jim Cook and wife Jamie both of Claremore, Tom Cook and wife Jennifer of Katy, Texas., Carole Darnell and husband Ray of Claremore and Sandra Gordon and husband David of Mannford, grandchildren Christian, Troy and Hailey Buffington, Raven, Scarlette and Titan Potter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Sally Cook, Johnny and Carolyn Cook.

Tom E. Allen

Tom E. Allen, 79, of Big Spring, Texas, died Thursday, April 13, 2006. Funeral services were held April 17, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. James Byler of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Music included "Amazing Grace" and "Mansion on the Hilltop" played on Scottish Bagpipes. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born Aug. 31, 1926 in Cushing and married Mary Ellen Newman on Sept. 24, 1976 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2002.

Tom graduated from Cushing High School in 1946. He was a longtime resident of Big Spring and had a worked at Codsen Refinery, retiring in 1984 after 22 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in Oklahoma and liked to watch football. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Staked Plains Lodge #598 A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include two brothers, Bill Allen of Athens, Ga. and Ben Allen of Kerrville; one sister, Ellouise Gould of Cushing; and nine nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.

Jodi Lynn (Bartley) Jenkins

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006 in the sanctuary of the Olive First Baptist Church for former Olive resident Jodi Jenkins. Dr. Larry Wallace of the First Baptist Church of Vinita officiated, assisted by Rev. Chris Moody of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church of Ponototoc, Miss. Special music was provided by Susie Krug, Garvin Stevens, Paula Miller, and Janet Rush. Interment followed in the Shamrock Cemetery at Shamrock, with Matt Hodson, Jeremy Hodson, B.J. Osburn, Jason Snell, Wesley Voyles, and Chris Voyles serving as casket bearers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael's Funeral Home of Drumright.

Jodi Lynn (Bartley) Jenkins was born in Cushing on Oct. 4, 1978 to Wyatt Bartley and Jennifer (Semler) Bartley. She passed from this life suddenly on April 17, 2006 in Pontotoc, Miss. as a result of an auto accident, at the age of 27 years 6 months and 13 days. Jodi was raised and educated in Olive and was a graduate of Olive High School.

She married Wiley Jenkins in Olive on May 22, 1999 and they made their home in Pontotoc, Miss. She worked as a medical insurance claims clerk for Internal Medicine Associates in Oxford, Miss. and was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church where she was treasurer of the WAC and also involved in the church youth program. Although her time on this earth was short, the memories she leaves behind will last a lifetime. Only those who had the pleasure of meeting her can understand the true wealth that she bestowed on everyone. Meeting her was a gift, knowing her was a blessing, loving her is a lifetime. She was preceded in death by Grandparents: Kirby and Dorothy Marie Bartley and Virginia Semler.

Her remaining family includes her loving husband; Wiley Jenkins of Mississippi, her parents; Wyatt and Jennifer Bartley of Olive; father-in-law and mother-in-law; Travis and Charlotte Jenkins of Mississippi; two sisters; Jinger Bartley and Jessica Bartley both of Olive; a brother; Judd Bartley of Olive; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Nicole and Brian Carter of Mississippi; grandparents: Jack Semler, Sr., Fred and Linda Voyles, aunts and uncles: Dixie Bartley, Wanda Bolstead, Darlene Dillared, Phyllis Voyles, Jan Sutton, Jill Voyles, Jack Semler, Jr., Frank Bartley, Ray Voyles, Bobby Voyles; nieces and nephews: Taylor Carter, Payton Pendergrass, Cade Potter, Tyler Carter, as well as numerous loving friends and other relatives.

Cathy Schroeder

Cathy Schroeder was born on Dec. 2, 1954 in Topeka, Kan. She grew up in Knob Noster, Colony and Topeka, Kan. Cathy traveled with her parents in the Air Force. Cathy married Leroy Schroeder on May 12, 1979 in Lebo, Kansas. She worked for Wonder Bread as a delivery driver from 1984 to 1989. She moved from Colony, Kan. to Cushing in 1993.

Cathy was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. Cathy loved spending time with her grandchildren. Cathy died on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at her home in Cushing.

Survivors include her husband Leroy Schroeder of the home, sons Vincent Schroeder and wife Martha of Harrisonville, Mo., Chad Schroeder of Cushing, Jedadiah Schroeder and wife Tia of Winsor, Mo., Adam Schroeder of Stillwater, daughter Tabitha Schroeder of Stillwater, Teri Schroeder of Halstead, Ks., sisters Leona Russell and husband Russ, Wyonna Creek and husband Gary, Dianna Franco and husband David, grandchildren Amethyst Weinhoffer, Hailey Lacy, Montgomery Schroeder, Heather and McKinzie Schroeder, Lorlai Schroeder, Menda Schroeder and Payton Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 1-8 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Local arrangements under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, Kan. with burial at the Colony Cemetery, Colony Kan.

Joe Allen Boatman

Joe Allen Boatman, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Wednesday evening, April 26, 2006 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 63 years.

The son of Rebecca "Becky" Lewis and the late Oscar Kelley Boatman, Joe was born on June 25, 1942 in Cushing and was reared and educated here.

Joe was united in marriage to Monty Grubbs and to this union two children, Christina and Gary Joe, were born.

He had worked for Quapaw as a heavy equipment operator for over 30 years and following his retirement had cut and hauled wood for many people in this community. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and going to flea markets.

Survivors include his mother Becky Lewis of Cushing; one daughter, Christina Boatman; two sons, Gary Joe Boatman and Chip McClurg; three grandchildren; three brothers, Jackson Lewis and Larry Don Lewis of Cushing; three sisters, Patsy Williams of Oklahoma City, Mary Mitchell of Pawnee and Marjorie Wright of Rose Hill, KS; one aunt, Juanita Jones of Drumright; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Kyle Wright, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Morris

Jacqueline (Jackie) Morris, 81, of Norman died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Norman Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman, Okla., with Rev. Mike Bumgarner Officiating.

Mrs. Morris was born Feb. 8, 1925 to Harvey and UIa Hagadorn in Tulsa, OK. She grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1943. She married Hershell Morris in Aug., 1945 in Paris, TX. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker. She did work for many years for the Norman Public School Lunch Program at Jackson Elementary School. She loved to sew and do various craft projects and after retirement, she and her husband loved to travel in their motor home. She was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Louise Durham of Cushing and her husband, Hershell of 53 years.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter Marlene Hoyt and her husband Roger and grandchildren, Gregory Hoyt and Kelli Hoyt all of Norman; brother and sister in law Lyle and Barbara Morris of Cushing; sister in law Wilma Allen of Albert Lea, MN; and several nieces and a nephew.

The family would like to express gratitude to the nurses and staff on 3 North at Norman Regional Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. Also a special thank you to Dr. Joe Riddle and staff.

Nicolas C. Richardson

Memorial services for Nicolas C. Richardson, age 18, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Palmer-Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Nicolas was born on Aug. 24, 1987 to Billy Earl Richardson and Dana (Broyles) Smith in Longbeach, Calif. and passed from this life on April 26, 2006 in Alcoa, Tennessee. He grew up in California until age 7 then moved to Cushing. He lived in Cushing through the 8th grade then moving to Tennessee. His hobbies included computers and fast things.

He is survived by her mother and step-father, Dana Smith and husband, Carl; father, Billy Richardson of Tennessee; uncle, Tony Broyles and wife Linda of Riverside, Calif.; aunts, Donna Ruegge of Fontana, Calif., Jewel Lawson of Knoxville, Tenn., LeeAnn Stephens of Tennessee; sisters, Jessica Richardson of Cushing, Brianna Smith of Cushing; grandparents, Lois and Joe Broyles of Cushing; great-grandmother, Beatrice Rhamey of Cushing; many cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

Edward Lee Gentry

Edward Lee Gentry, of Stillwater, died Friday, April 28, 2006 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 86 years. Services will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1001 N. Cleveland, Cushing, with Reverend Johnson Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Star Cemetery.
