Harry Yahola

Harry Yahola, a lifelong Seminole resident, died Tuesday at a local nursing home. He was 70.

He was born March 12, 1931, in Hughes County to Henry Yahola and Lizzie (Porter) Yahola.

He married Edith Mae (Ripley) Yahola on July 17, 1999, in Seminole. Yahola, a retired truck driver, was a corporal in the U.S. Marines.

He was a member of Indian Nation Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Pearline Yahola in April 1996, and four sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Edith Mae Yahola of the home; two sons, Raymond and Michael Yahola, both of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Erma Yahola and Debra Cardans, both of Oklahoma City, and Betty Yahola of Elkhart, Ind.; brother Miller Yahola of Oklahoma City; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hitchitee Methodist Church with the Rev. Houston Tiger, The Rev. Bill Barnett and the Rev. Michael Svitak officiating. Burial will follow in Hitchitee Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Verna Meckler Gjuresko

Verna Meckler Gjuresko of Weston, Conn., died Sept. 20 at a Norwalk, Conn. hospital. She was 85.

She was born April 2, 1916, in Bethlehem, Pa., the daughter of the late Ambrose and Elizabeth Myers Meckler.

Surviving are her son, Steven J. Gjuresko of Weston; a daughter Sandra V. Shantar of Newtown, Conn.; a sister, Theresa Crevda of Long Beach, Calif.; brother Ambrose Meckler, Long Beach, Calif.; grandson Jeffrey P. Shantar of Newtown, Conn., two granddaughters, Kristine E. Shantar of Newtown, Conn., and Margaret R. Gjuresko of Shawnee; and one great-grandson.

Services and burial are private.

Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Cemetery, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 285 Lyons Plain Road, Weston, CT, 06883.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bouton Funeral Home, Georgetown, Conn.

Fannie Mae Conway Jones

Shawnee resident Fannie Mae Conway Jones, 34, died Saturday.

She was born Sept. 17, 1967, to Jerry and Mildred Conway in Seminole.

She attended school in Shawnee and Earlsboro and married William Jones, Sept. 23, 1988.

Mrs. Jones worked at various nursing homes and was a member of Emmanuel Temple of Praise Deliverance of Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, two brothers and one son.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; four daughters, Glorie Kae Barkus, Fanny May Jones, Clarissa LaMae Jones and Star-Riah May Jones, all of the home; two sons, William Dwayne Jones, Jr. and Isiah Jones, both of the home; two grandchildren, Shaquanda Conway and Miliciah Conway; 10 foster children; her mother, Mildred Ann Conway of Shawnee; three brothers, Anthony DeWayne Conway, Terry Ray Conway and Patrick Tyrone Conway, all of Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Temple of Praise and Deliverance of Shawnee with Odell Hardeman officiating. Burial will follow at the Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Elvis Ellen Sellers

Services for Elvis Ellen Sellers, 88, Weatherford, are 2 p.m. Friday in Lockstone Funeral Home Chapel, Weatherford, with the Rev. Truman Smith officiating. Burial follows in El Reno Cemetery.

Mrs. Sellers was born June 4, 1913, in Loco to William Henry and Sally Pearl Wright Tinsley. She died Tuesday in Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford.

She grew up in the Canadian County area and attended school in Shilo and East Walnut.

She and Foster Lee "Ted" Sellers married Oct. 10, 1935, in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Sellers was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Weatherford.

She is survived by four children, Leon and Peggy Sellers, Colony; Pearlene and Rock Hespe, Weatherford; Georgia Sanders, Oklahoma City; and Dick and Judy Sellers, Shawnee; five grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy and Jack Boling, Dale Hespe, Robin and Don Harris, Richie and Chasity Sellers and Amy Sellers; three step-grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Teresa Payne, Brent and Rhonda Payne and Jeff and Ann Marie Payne; five great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Gid Tinsley and Travis Tinsley; two sisters, Edna Hixon and Opal Rogers; brother-in-law, Jack Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Kendall Sellers; granddaughter, Toni Sanders; three brothers, Paul, Rincy and Daniel Tinsley; two sisters, Esther Tinsley and Eldie Wray.

Jean Eileen Sadler

Services for Jean Eileen Sadler, 77, Shawnee, are 2 p.m. Thursday at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel, Okmulgee, with the Rev. John Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in Beggs Cemetery.

Mrs. Sadler died Tuesday.

She was born June 22, 1924, at Bald Hill to Thomas Arthur and Doris Sandusky Gunter. She graduated from Twin Hills High School in 1941.

Mrs. Sadler worked at Boeing Airplane Factory in Wichita, Kan., during World War II and for Ball Grass Co. in Okmulgee for 22 years.

She and Charles Sadler were married March 9, 1946, in Okmulgee. He preceded her in death April 2, 2001.

She was a member of the Northside Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee.

Survivors include son, Charles Sadler Jr., Shawnee, daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gary Washburn, Shawnee; granddaughter, Stefanie Washburn, Dallas, Texas, brother A.W. Gunter, Texas; sister Nadine Burzio, Sapulpa, several nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.

Michael E. Rakovan

Michael E. Rakovan of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 74.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Coy Valera Wright

Coy Valera Wright died Monday at her home in Paden. She was 78.

She was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Vian, Okla., to Milton H. and Jessie (Beasley) Hoppis. She had lived in the Paden area most of her life.

Mrs. Wright was a teller at BancFirst, Prague, and member of the First United Methodist Church, Prague. She had recently received her 50-year pin for membership in the Eastern Star.

On Nov. 4, 1942, she married Hiram Holland Wright in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Alvis Hoppis.

Survivors include her husband, Hiram Holland Wright, Paden; son and daughter-in-law, John and Connie Wright, Tulsa; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Prague, with the Rev. Steve Roach officiating. Burial will follow in the Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Memorials may be made to the Caring Hands Hospice, 318 W. Main, Stroud, 74079, or to First United Methodist Church, Prague.

Sidney Alfred Randolph Thompson

Longtime Lincoln County resident Sidney Alfred Randolph Thompson died Monday in Oklahoma City at the age of 55.

Thompson was born Oct. 25, 1945, in Prague to Alfred Randolph and Mildred Luella (Quary) Thompson. He married Ruth Brown June 12, 1986, in Meeker.

He worked as a general laborer in the Lincoln County area all of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Thompson, Chandler; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott Alfred and Deanna Thompson, Prague; Steve Roger and Amber Thompson, Prague; daughter, Marilyne Emde, Chandler; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Roger and Donna Thompson, Texas; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bob Green, Meeker; Darlene and Bill Clark, California; Delilah and Steve Corker, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Burial will be in Star Valley Cemetery, Chandler.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund.

Willard A. Roberts

Willard A. Roberts of Shawnee died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 79.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Cliff Craig officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Masonic rites will be conducted by Tecumseh Lodge No. 69 AF & AM.

William Elliott

William "Bill" Elliott died Wednesday at the age of 70.

Elliott was born April 30, 1931, in Holdenville to William and Annie (Knight) Elliott.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jean Elliott and Paul and Donna Elliott; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Steven Scott; three brothers, Phynes, Allan and Lester; five sisters, Cora Lee Bryan, Freda Baker, Jan Berryhill, Sherron Riveria, Opal Faye Shepherd; five grandchildren, two great-grandchidlren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Wilma May Sampsel Berry

Wilma May Sampsel Berry of Malvern, Ark., died Wednesday at Hot Springs County Medical Center. She was 94.

Mrs. Berry was a former Seminole resident.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole. Further arrangements will be announced.

Wilma Mae Berry

Former longtime Seminole resident Wilma Mae Berry, 94, Malvern, Ark., died Wednesday at a Malvern hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole. The Rev. David Karges will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 12, 1907, in Macy, Ind., the daughter of James Sampsel and Nora E. (Butler) Sampsel.

She was married to Noble Berry, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Berry lived in Seminole for more than 40 years before moving to Malvern five years ago.

She served on the Seminole Housing Authority Board of Directors and volunteered at the Heritage House. In 1987, she was awarded Outstanding Senior Citizen of Seminole.

She was also a contributing writer for the Seminole Producer.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Chester and Billy McMillin; one daughter, Betty Carter; and two grandsons, James Earl McMillin and Michael Carter.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James H. and Virginia McMillin, five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie Ida Moore

Bessie Ida Moore, 80, Seminole, died Friday at a Seminole nursing home.

The daughter of Edward and Lilly Elizabeth (Sanford) Mardis was born May 13, 1921, in Roff.

On June 3, 1939, she was married in Ada to Clarence C. Moore, who preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1990.

Mrs. Moore, a longtime Seminole resident, was a homemaker.

Her sister, Frances Jones, survives Mrs. Moore.

Graveside services were held Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
