Ethel K. Lux

Ethel K. Lux, 97, McLoud, died Wednesday at a McLoud nursing home.

Ms. Lux was born Aug. 26, 1901, in Missouri to Adolph and Mary (Shaff) Teschner.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her nephews, Jack Matherly, Meeker, and Tom Teschner, Texas; and nieces, Chloe McCarron, Lawton, Kay Haney, Edmond, and Marie Gallagher, Illinois.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City with the Rev. Bill Shaw officiating.

Viola Deason

Rural Bartlesville resident Viola Deason died Wednesday at her home. The former Shawnee resident was 83.

Mrs. Deason was born May 13, 1916, in Wynnewood to James Howard and Rachel (Dillon) McKinnon.

She married Othel Kelsey Deason Sr. on Dec. 22, 1933, in Prague.

She and her husband made their home in Belmont and later in Shawnee. They moved to Bartlesville in 1953 where they owned and operated Deason's Poultry until the 1960s. She was a member of the Ramona First Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Othel K. Jr. and Gladys Deason, Bartlesville, Jack and Irene Deason, Peabody, Kan., and James Deason, Bartlesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Ron Jones, Quitman, Ark.; brother, Howard McKinnon, Bokosha; sisters, Doris Dyke, Seminole, Maurine Edmonds, Oklahoma City, and Serena Powell, Norman; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul Lee Deason; and brother, James McKinnon.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Dershem of Rose Hill Community Church officiating. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Garden Grove Cemetery northeast of Shawnee with Jerry Snyder of Prague officiating under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home, Bartlesville.

Memorials may be made to New Harmony Baptist Church, 22050 N. 4015 Rd, Bartlesville, Okla. 74006.

A.C. Molloy

Longtime Seminole resident A.C. "Ace" Molloy died Tuesday at an Oklahoma City Hospital. He was 75.

Molloy was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Pershing to A.F. "Pat" and Opal (Huston) Molloy.

He married Nelleta (Phillips) Molloy July 12, 1941, in Pauls Valley.

Molloy lived in Seminole most of his life. He graduated from Varnum in 1942 and was the drum major. He was the owner of Ace Welding in Seminole and retired in 1986.

He was a member of the 554th AAA 78th Infantry Division Anti-Aircraft T4 5 Star, which landed on the third day on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.

Survivors include his mother, Opal Molloy, Prague; wife, Nelleta Molloy, of the home; son, A.C. "Pat" Molloy, Seminole; daughter and son-in-law, Nelleta Janice Molloy Houser and Jim Houser, Latrobe, Pa.; brother, Bill Molloy, Del City; grandchildren, Joseph Patrick Molloy, Tulsa, and Andrea Hope Houser, Latrobe, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Alabama Lette and Georgia Marie Malloy, both of Tulsa.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Joseph Raymond Moreno

Former Shawnee resident Joseph Raymond Moreno died June 14 in Oklahoma City. He was 63.

Moreno was born Jan. 25, 1936, and was a member of the Yaqui Nation. He was an adopted member of the Sac and Fox Tribe, and given the named Wa Wa Thuk. He served as a U.S. Marine in Korea from 1952 to 1955.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; three brothers, Johnny, Richard, and Cecil Moreno; and three sisters, Helen, Felicia, and Augustina.

Surviving are one son, Johnny Joe Moreno, and one daughter, Carol Jean, both of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and special friend, Lila Austin of Oklahoma City.

A rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Baggerley Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Little Flower Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Burial and tribal services will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery at in Oklahoma City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Delmer Reed

Ada resident Delmer Reed died June 18 at his home. He was 87.

Reed was born Sept. 10, 1911, in Frisco, near Stonewall, to John and Gertrude Reed.

He married Gladys Bernice Buckmaster in 1936. She preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1997, in Ada.

He attended Franks and Rocky Chapel schools. He worked for Ideal Cement Co. in Ada for 36 years, retiring in 1977.

Survivors include his son, Doug Reed, Noble; daughter, Glenda Wilson, Stuarts Draft, Va.; grandson, whom he and his wife reared, Keith Carter, Shawnee; five other grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Services were June 21 in Ada.

Jesse Bryan Hamlin

McLoud resident Jesse Bryan Hamlin died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 91.

Hamlin was born June 3, 1908, in Hoyt, Okla., to William and Elizabeth (Lawrence) Hamlin.

He was a barber.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret J. Hamlin, McLoud; son, J.B. Hamlin, Stigler; daughter, Peggy Joyce Hamlin, Konawa; stepdaughters, Barbara, Carolyn, Cynthia, Deborah and Maurine; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah. Burial will be at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.

Betty Lou Casey

Lifelong Seminole resident Betty Lou Casey died Thursday at a Seminole hospital. She was 66.

Mrs. Casey was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Seminole to Lester Marion and Mable Florence (Logan) Smith.

She married Billie "Gene" Casey Sept. 1, 1949, in Van Buren, Ark. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1988.

She retired in December 1988 from Wrangler, where she worked as a division trainer. She worked for Wrangler for 32 years. She also was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Debi Casey and Kelly and Rita Casey, all of Seminole; brother, Glen Smith, Maud; sisters, Wanda Joyner, Perryton, Texas, Donna Hays, Houston, Texas, and Verna Dice, Seminole; and grandson, Trent Casey, Seminole.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, L.C. Smith.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Long officiating. The casket will be open until service time but not during or after the service. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Thelma J. Ray

Shawnee resident Thelma J. Ray died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was 92.

She was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Macomb to Ben and Carrie Mitchell.

She married Guy Hoyt Ray, and he preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1974.

She graduated from Macomb Schools. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her nephews and their spouses, Ben and Jean Ray, Fort Worth, Texas, and Dr. Ken and Patsy Ray, Tulsa; and cousin, Fred Thompson, Bartlesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Nicky Guy Ray.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. David Clewell officiating under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Gary Dean Smith

Shawnee resident Gary Dean Smith died Wednesday in a car accident in Seminole. He was 57.

Smith was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Laverne, Okla., to J.P. and Georgia Smith.

He was an auto mechanic and was employed by L&M Auto and Truck Repair of Seminole. He also served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army; he joined the Army in 1959.

Survivors include his son, Terry Smith, Leedy; daughters, Paula Gage and Dawn Smith, both of Oklahoma City; Kay Kirby, Mangum; and Misti Cearlock, Elk City; brothers, Joe Smith, Oklahoma City; Bill Smith, Clinton; Don Smith, Doles, Ark., and Ted Smith, Fontanam, Calif.; and grandsons, Kameron Kirby and Austin Cearlock.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Patrick E. Bright officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Mission under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Phyllis Darlene Newham

Phyllis Darlene Newham died Saturday in her Del City home at age 54.

The daughter of Homer and Ruby (Willingham) Thompson was born May 10, 1947, in Stroud.

A Del City resident since 1991, she was a school custodian for Putnam City High School.

Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Terry Davenport of Wellston; two daughters, Kelli Gray of Wellston and Misty Newham of Del City two brothers, Richard Thompson of Stroud and Roy Thompson of Davenport; four sisters, Carolyn Fox of Shamrock; Linda Collier of Choctaw; Billie Everson, and Donna Stokes, both of Cushing; five grandchildren and many other relatives.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Stroud Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Murfin officiating. Parks Brothers Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Clyde G. Riddle

Former Tulsa resident Clyde G. Riddle, 58, died Sunday in Shawnee.

The son of Lloyd and Edith Riddle was born April 8, 1943, in Detroit, Mich.

He was a 1961 graduate of East Central High School in Tulsa and a U.S. Air Force veteran. The Moose Lodge No. 862 member was retired from Burlington Northern Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Alice Calkins of Catoosa; sister, June Williams of Sand Springs, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, Tulsa.

Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association.

Glenn Dale Peters

Pink resident Glenn Dale Peters died Saturday at age 62.

He was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Maud, the son of William Otis and Annie Lorean (McCollum) Peters. He was a 1958 graduate of Luther High School.

Peters, a truck driver for Madewell and Madewell for 15 years, was a welder and mechanic after his 1985 move from Luther to Macomb. After his 1995 move to Pink, he was contracted to deliver the Daily Oklahoman.

Peters served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961. A 32nd-degree Mason, Peters was a member of Lodge No. 43 in Nickerson, Kan. He was also a member of the Wichita Consistory and the Church of God.

On July 12, 1964, he married Johnnie F. Morrel in Seminole.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two uncles, Ora and Earl Peters; and his wife's parents, Reece and Lillian Morrel.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Vinnie Zingone of North Warren, Pa., Renie and Doyle Hatcher of Scurry, Texas, Lillie and Samuel Visnieski of Harrah, Cindy and Jeff Bussey of Meeker, Lorrie and Dale Sullivan and Donnie and Ashley Land, all of Shawnee and Mandy and Frank Hopkins of Maud; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Sandy Peters of Shawnee, Don and Donna Peters of Luther and Gary and Jackie Peters also of Luther; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty June and Norman Roller of Coffeyville, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Bob Langston, pastor of United Methodist Church of Noble, will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.
