Jane Harris

Jane Harris, 63, died Sunday in her Prague area home.

She was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Paden, the daughter of Dave and Pearl Sylvia (Latta) Lowery.

On Dec. 21, 1956, she and Tommy Harris were married in Paden.

She was a bookkeeper in Seminole from 1993 to 2000.

Her parents, one sister and twin infants preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Thomas Harris of Prague; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Tom Taylor of Shawnee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Darlene Lowery of Okemah, and Vance and Dee Lowery of Wanette; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Joe Landrum of Seminole, and Ann and Bill Woodard of Shawnee; grandchildren, Julie Taylor; Chastity Woods; Taryn Dunsmore, and Morgan Dunsmore, and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery in Seminole County. Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague, is in charge of arrangements.

John Samuel Coleman

John Samuel Coleman of Florence, Ala., died Friday at a Florence hospital. He was 80.

Coleman was a native of Shawnee and worked as a ceramic engineer for Stylon and Monarch Tile until retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Florence.

He was a past member of Florence Elk's Lodge and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Aluetian Islands.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Coleman, Florence; sons, John Eric "Rick" Coleman, West Point, Mass., William Evan "Buddy" Coleman, Decatur, Ala., and Patrick Erin "Pat" Coleman, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; stepson, Wayne Peden, Killen, Ala.; stepdaughters, Patricia Durham, Florence, and Anne Mashall, Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Bertha Hunsicker, Shawnee; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday at Greenview Memorial Chapel, Florence, with the Rev. Gary Edge officiating. Burial was in Greenview Memorial Park under the direction of Greenview Funeral Home.

Wauneta Perry Hamilton

Wauneta Perry Hamilton of Lawrence, Kan. died Sunday. She was 94.

She was the only aunt of Mrs. Shirlie Wilcoxson of Shawnee, Mrs. Sandra Hine of Muskogee and Mrs. Sharon Schick, Duncan.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. John Hannock.

Survivors include her husband and two daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, all of Kansas, and the families of Shirlie Wilcoxson, Dr. Brandon Bowers, Shawnee, Brett Bowers of Norman and Shan Bowers CRNR of Cambridge, Mass.

Graveside services will be today in Lawrence, Kan.

Donations can be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee or to any charity or St. Gregory's University Spiritual Fund.

Leta Faye "Honey" Harjo

Leta Faye "Honey" Harjo of Maud died Sunday at a Seminole hospital. She was 72.

She was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Ardmore. She was the daughter of Sterling Price and Myrtle (Jordan) Price.

She married Charley Harjo on March 7, 1947, in Gainsville, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1969.

Harjo was a homemaker. She was a member of the Maud First Baptist Church.

She graduated from Harjo High School in 1946.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and husband.

Survivors include four sons, Phillip Harjo and Terry D. Harjo, both of Maud, Sterling Harjo of Edmond and Matthew Harjo of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.

Mary Elizabeth Terrell

Shawnee resident Mary Elizabeth Terrell died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 96.

Mrs. Terrell was born June 10, 1904, in Chickasha to Elmer and Lou Anna (Smith) Terrell.

She attended Chickasha High School and Columbia University and graduated from Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. She was a retired educator, having taught at Enid and Harjo and for 30 years in the Shawnee School system.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Oklahoma Association of Retired Teachers and the Christian Church.

Survivors include her cousins, Martha Henry, Oklahoma City, Emily Barry, Tulsa, and Margaret Terrell Collums, Casper, Wyo.; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several uncles and aunts.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Park Cemetery, Ft. Smith, Ark., under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Pamela Sue Pierce

Lifelong Lincoln County resident Pamela Sue Pierce died Sunday in Chandler. She was 48.

Mrs. Pierce was born May 29, 1952, in Stroud to Preston and Marie (Wilson) Ingram. She had lived in Chandler for the past six years, where she worked at Wal-mart. She was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Justin Don Pierce, St. Louis, Mo., and Tommy Lee Pierce, Annapolis, Md.; daughter, Gena Lynn Neal, Chandler; two brothers, Paul Stephens, Guymon, and Michael P. Ingram, Stroud; four sisters, Mae Vinson, Cushing, Ivoria Conley, Tulsa, Ruthie Tipken, Gore, and Donia Lee Smith, Stroud; three grandchildren, Karissa Dawn Pierce, Jacob Brent Neal and Triston Thomas Pierce; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James "Sonny" Stephens.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Davenport with the Rev. Mike Mitchell and the Rev. Lee Lee Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.

Velma K. Wilson

Former Seminole resident Velma K. Wilson of Grove died Sunday at Grove General Hospital. She was 89.

Mrs. Wilson was born Dec. 1, 1910, in Ballard, Mo., to W.M. Kezer and Maud (Ford) Kezer. Her husband Paul Wilson preceded her in death in 1930.

She was retired from Seminole Cleaners where she was employed for 40 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and June Wilson, Grove; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Wilson, Canadian, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dearrel and Willie Mae Kezer, Colton, Calif., and Jack and Audrey Kezer, Central Point, Ore.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, W.C. Wilson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Jim Waller officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

John Carl Rader

John Carl "Radar" Rader died Saturday in his Shawnee home. He was 67.

The son of Jess and Emma (Coleman) Rader was born Dec. 12, 1933, in De Witt, Ark. He attended high school and continued his education through the military.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 and served during the early 1970s in Vietnam.

Rader, who retired from the motion picture industry after 20 years, also worked for Long Haul Trucking for many years.

On April 10, 1979, he and Mary R. were married.

In April, 1992, he moved to Shawnee.

His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded Rader in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary R. Rader of Shawnee; stepsons, Steven Pegoda of Las Cruces, N.M., and Michael Pegoda of Grants Pass, Ore.; sister, Jane Ashley of Fort Smith, Ark., and a niece, Cindy Ashley of Fort Smith.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. The Rev. James P. Maxwell will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation, Oklahoma Chapter, 3313 Classen Blvd., Room 101, Oklahoma City OK 73118.

Otto Gus Miller

Konawa resident Otto Gus Miller died Tuesday in Konawa at age 88.

He was born to E.P. and Georgia Ann (Billingsley) Joiner on July 10, 1912, in Fredrick.

On Nov. 29, 1941, he married Dealva (Austin) Miller in Perryton, Texas.

He was a maintenance worker for Celanese Chemical Co. The member of First Baptist Church, Konawa, had moved to Konawa from Pampa, Texas, in 1988.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three infant daughters, one granddaughter, one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Edward Miller, of the home, and Sammy and Kathy Miller of Konawa; brother, Tom Joiner of Mangum; a sister, Berniece Balusak of Kilgore, Texas, and one grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Pickard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charlie Henthorn will officiate; burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pickard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie Louise White

Nellie Louise White of McLoud died Thursday at her home. She was 60.

She was born Aug. 17, 1938, in Wewoka to Chester and Florence (Catlett) Collier. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1956, and married Clifford J.W. White in Holdenville on June 29, 1956.

She was a homemaker, and one of the founding members of the Lakeview Church of Christ. She was a longtime Bible school teacher and leader of Bible studies, a worker in Women's Prison Ministries, and a Den mother of Cub Scouts. She also developed a curriculum for youth Bible study classes.

She participated in Oklahoma City Women's League Bowling, Oklahoma City and Shawnee women's fast-pitch softball as a pitcher. She participated in Norman, Shawnee and Oklahoma City basketball leagues. She earned numerous trophies and competed in Nationals on several occasions.

Preceding her in death were her father, and a brother, B.J. Collier.

Surviving are her husband, Clifford White of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryon and Mary Beth of McLoud, Gregory and Pamela White of Prague; grandchildren, Bryon Lee and Kierston White, Laurie Beth and J.D. Casteel of McLoud; Kora and Jesse White of Prague; her mother, Florence Collier; brother and sister-in-law, J.C. and Ruby Collier of Hennessey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera and Jerry Epperley of Holdenville; Muriel and Cecil Davis of Oklahoma City; brother, Kenneth Collier of Osage, Okla.; and sister, Linda Blanton of Tulsa.

Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Church of Christ. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Church of Christ with Ben Glover and Mike Shelburne officiating.

Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Lester Mallow Taylor

Lester Mallow Taylor of Chandler died Saturday at his home. He was 84.

He was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Leonard, Texas, to Cyrus and Misshie (Evans) Taylor. He was a herdsman and a rancher.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Mallo Goodman of Shawnee; Dot and Bill Stith of Tecumseh; Melissa and Bobby Miller of Chandler; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
