Dalmer James Westfall

Dalmer James Westfall, age 65 of Perkins, passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 28, 2007 at the Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 31, 2007 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing.

J. Edsel Hall will officiate. Interment will follow at the Perkins Cemetery, Perkins, Okla. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Dalmer was born on Jan. 19, 1942 in Yale, Okla. to Jesse Palmer and Sarah Ellen (Robinson) Westfall. Dalmer grew up in Yale and graduated from Yale High School.

He married Glenda Jordan on Mar. 26, 1963 in Odessa, Texas. Dalmer was a machinist for Sure Test Inc. in Breckenridge, Texas, retiring in 2003. They moved to Perkins in 2004. He was a Baptist by faith. Dalmer loved to watch football and could tell you everything about many football teams, from the players to the coaches. His favorite team was O.U. Dalmer also enjoyed pulling pranks and telling jokes. He liked to listen to Buddy Holly. Dalmer is survived by his wife of 44 years, Glenda of the home, sons Donnie Westfall and wife Misty of Bowie, Texas, Brian Westfall of Cross Plains, Texas, daughters Cindy Castle and husband Jon Mark of Bigsby, Okla., Kay Barnett and husband Gary of Iowa Park, Texas, grandchildren Lance, Raymond and Tiffany Logan, James, Sarah and Joshua Castle, Cindy, Brandy, Colton and Nikki Westfall, Jerrica Bills, April and Meagan Barnett, Dora Price, great grandchildren Donavon Logan, Kaydance Logan, Madison Logan, Makayla Arce and Allyssa Jackson. His parents, his brother Palmer Westfall and an infant brother preceded him in death.

Opal Uptegraft

Mrs. Opal Uptegraft, lifelong resident of Cushing, passed away on Friday evening, Mar. 30, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 95 years.

The daughter of the late Thomas Brookshire and Lula Baer Brookshire, Opal was born on Feb. 7, 1912 in Cushing and was reared and educated here.

She was united in marriage to Dale Uptegraft on Dec. 30, 1942, in Cushing and he preceded her in death on Apr. 12, 1969.

Opal had worked for Dr. Bassett for many years prior to working for Midland Coop, retiring following over 30 years of employment with them.

Opal will be remembered for the loving care she gave her parents and her sister, Glendean Mercer. She was gracious and generous in her kindness and love to all. She was a truly lovely lady. Opal was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings, Glendean Mercer, Dolores Massie, Ralph Brookshire, Tommy Brookshire, Cecil Brookshire, Bill Brookshire, John Brookshire, Carst Brookshire and John Brookshire.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 3, 2007 at 1 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. You may share your condolences with the Uptegraft family at www.davisfh.net.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.

Joe J. Exton

Joe J. Exton passed away on Monday, April 30, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 91 years.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 10 A.M. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Lonny Lee, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Tommy Lee Pence

Tommy Lee Pence passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 62.

Tommy was the beloved husband of Molly (nee Frey); much loved father of Jimmy Pence, Robin Casagrande, Alesia (Tome) Jolevski, Beth (Jeff) Todd, and Melinda (Tim) Luegering and the dear grandfather of 10. He is also survived by his sister Mary (John) Snavely, his brother John (Lois) Pence, and his brother in law Bob Mabe and many nieces nephews and friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Dorothy Pence and his sister Sunny Jean Mabe.

Tommy was employed by O'Rourke Wrecking as a heavy equipment operator for many years.

Visitation was held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Neidhard-Gillen Funeral Home, 7401 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

Memorial contributions in Tommy's name may be given to Hospice of Cincinnati.

Claudine M. Dean Amberg

Claudine M. Dean Amberg was born on May 29, 1929 in Crescent, Oklahoma to the late Claude W. and Minnie (Hamlin) Myers. She grew up in Crescent, graduating from Crescent High School in 1947. Dean attended Central State University in Edmond, receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten for many years at the Lake Park Elementary School in Oklahoma City, retiring in 1973. Dean married Jacob Amberg on Apr. 23, 1971 in Gainesville, Texas. They lived in OKC for a few years, moving to Grand Isle, La. for thirteen years, then to Cushing in 1998 to be near family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dean liked taking care of her flower garden. She enjoyed cooking for her family and traveling. Dean was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Dean passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at her home in Cushing.

Dean is survived by her loving husband Jacob Amberg of the home, son Jack Amberg and wife Jennifer of Yukon, daughters Jan Elizabeth Mitchell and husband George of Gainesville, Fla., Cathy Reinecke and husband David of Cushing, sisters Verna Swaim of Enid, Margaret Lovelace of Plaquemine, La., grandchildren Jill, Brad and Jeff Reinecke, Asa and Ty Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cula Short and nephew Scott Short Jr, who was like a brother.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Cushing. Rev. Ted Uhlig will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing.

Those serving as casketbearers are Bill Miller, Bob Sears, Hugh McGuire, Ryan Clark, Brad Reinecke and Jeff Reinecke.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Memorials can be made to the First Methodist Church, Cushing, Okla. 74023

Marvin N. Brooks

Marvin N. Brooks, age 82 of Tryon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 28, 2007. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Church of the Firstborn in Tryon, Oklahoma. Brother Robert Smith and Brother Ed Albright will officiate. Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.

Serving as casketbearers are grandchildren: Travis Percell, Caleb Percell, Tanner Percell, Gavin Albright, Clay Holsinger and Cory Smith. Serving as honorary casketbearer will be grandson, Cale Smith. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Marvin was born on July 12, 1924 in Chandler, Okla. to Albert F. and Birdie (Moore) Brooks. Marvin grew up in Chandler. He attended Wellston schools and graduated from Wellston High School in 1942. Marvin was inducted into the U. S. Army three days after graduation from high school. He served his country during WWII. Marvin returned home from service and began working for GibbleGas working for 5 years before marriage to Helen Reedy on Dec. 13, 1952 in her parent’s home near Parkland. He soon began his career for Sohio Oil Company. He started working on the rigs and made his way up the ladder to Production Foreman, working for 38 years, retiring in 1985. Marvin loved to study the Lord’s word. He was also a minister with the Church of the Firstborn. They lived in the Deer Creek area while their children were growing up. He served on the Deer Creek school board for five years. They moved to the Tryon area in 1996, where he enjoyed raising and watching cattle. They like to travel, and enjoyed a family cruise a few years back. He loved spending time with his family. Marvin thought anything could be fixed with bailing wire or duct tape.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 54 years Helen Brooks of the home, daughters Marla Albright and husband Edwin of Tryon, Crystl Percell of Cushing, Keli Smith and husband Robert of Mannford, brothers Edgar Brooks and wife Dorothy of Tyler, Texas. and Eldridge Wayne Brooks and wife Genora of Midwest City, sisters Betty Mae Pound of Cushing and Lois Kanady of Cushing, grandchildren Travis Percell and wife Nikki, twins Caleb and Tanner Percell, Haley Machetta and husband Joe, Gavin Albright, Cory Smith and Cale Smith, Clay Holsinger and Brittni Holsinger, great grandchildren Abby and Logan Machetta, Carter Percell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Tami Holsinger, his son-in-law Gary Percell, brothers Alfred and Wilbur, sisters Margie and Ardie.

Richard Frank Minnix

Mr. Richard Frank Minnix passed from this life on Friday June 1, 2007 in Stillwater, Okla. at the age of 76. Richard was born Jan. 22, 1931 in Sumner, Oklahoma to Elmer and Loraine Cromwell Minnix. Richard served his country faithfully for two years in the Unites States Army and served eight years in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Glencoe American Legion and a Mason in the Stillwater Chapter. Richard attended and graduated from Ripley High School in 1949. He was a farmer-rancher by trade and operated a dairy farm from 1951 to 1986. Richard was also an Evergreen Dealer for 53 years.

Although Richard is no longer with us his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include: His very special friend and companion Sherry Marlin of 36 years and her grandchildren: Lecy Marlin and William Shea, one daughter: Debra Goss of Spencer, Indiana, one aunt: Betty and husband Bud Petermann of Perry, Okla., four Cousins: Saundra and husband Fred Kukuk of Perry, Okla., Ronald Petermann of OKC, Cheryl and Steve Langstract of Stillwater, Okla., Carolyn and husband Bill Harris of Sand Springs, Okla., 2nd Cousins: Tammy and husband Darren Billingsley, Tim Kukuk, Chad Petermann, Tygen Kukuk, Kyla Langstract, Josh and Jordan Billingsley. Richard is survived by a host of long time friends and neighbors.

Services are under the care and direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home.

Bobby Jack Trout

Bobby Jack Trout age 67 of Stroud passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday June 14, 2006 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing.

Bobby was born on Dec. 19, 1938 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Thomas Logan and Ola Mae (Veal) Trout. He grew up in Cushing, graduating in 1957. Bobby served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era, Troop G, 3rd Cavalry for nine years. He married Judy Hayter on November 29, 1972 in Elkton, Maryland. While in Maryland, he worked for General Motors. They moved to Stroud in 1973 where they have resided since. Bobby worked in the past as a diesel mechanic for Lee Way, UPS, Mistletoe Express, City of Drumright, Miller Trucking and Bolens Garage. He also taught diesel mechanic at the Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech in Shawnee for a number of years. Bobby was a life member of the DAV, and a member of the American Legion in Baltimore.

Bobby enjoyed fishing, camping and woodwork.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 33 years Judy Trout of the home, son Tony Chrisp and wife Melissa of Cushing, daughters Dawn Trout of Baltimore, Maryland, Lisa Langhirt and husband Matt of Joppa, Maryland, Shari Tuttle of Stroud, brother Dick Trout and wife Betty of Crescent, sister Linda Hamilton and husband Terry of Cushing, grandchildren Adam Tuttle, Clayton Chrisp, Courtney Clark, Chris Reese, Ryan, Dylan and Mason Langhirt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jake Trout and niece Connie Trout.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.

Peggy L. Mumford

Peggy L. Mumford, age 72 of Drumright, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Drumright Hospital in Drumright. Graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton.

Services are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Oilton, Okla.

Peggy was born on Apr. 26, 1935 in Jennings, Oklahoma to the late O. L. and Georgia (Wooten) Alsip. She grew up in Jennings and graduated from Jennings High School in 1953. Peggy was raised by her grandparents. She married Dale Mumford on June 9, 1956 in Hallett, Okla. Peggy was a homemaker and took great pride in taking care of her family. Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Drumright. She started teaching Sunday school at the Jennings First Baptist Church and also taught at the Drumright First Baptist Church. Peggy loved being involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their extracurricular activities.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 51 years Dale Mumford of the home, children Becky Clement and husband David of Ashdown, Ark., Larry Mumford of Drumright, Leah Ross and husband Larry of Jennings, Shana McDonald and husband Paul of Drumright, sisters; Wray Dunlap and husband Robert of Jennings, Janet Floyd of Yale, Pat Eastburn of Washington, brother Roland Caliboso and wife Rita of Washington, grandchildren Michael Clement and wife Kendra, Corrie Easley and husband Jonathan, Kimberly McCutcheon and husband Stephen, Amy Mumford, Joseph Mumford, Sarah Mumford, Eric Ross and wife Ruby, Robert Ross and wife Jessika, Todd Ross, Dale McDonald, Heath McDonald and Morgan McDonald, 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jimmie "Larry" Dean Tipton

Jimmie "Larry" Dean Tipton, 62, of Stillwater, died Monday, June 19, 2006, in Tulsa. Graveside services, under the direction of Strode Funeral Home, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Ripley. Due to the recent hot weather conditions, the family respectfully suggests that casual clothing be worn to the funeral.

He was born Feb. 15, 1944, to Joe T. Tipton and Alice (Duncan) Tipton, in Payne County, and attended Ripley Schools.

On Dec. 20, 1965, he married Susan Holcomb in Edmond.

A golf course groundskeeper, he was also an amateur HAM radio operator whose call signal was "KG5MU." He was a member of the Amateur HAM Radio Operators Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Bobby Taylor and one son, Harley Joe Tipton.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Joe Daniel Tipton of Ripley; one daughter, Angela Wellman and her husband, Joseph, of Bartlesville; one sister, Penny Tipton of Oregon; eight grandchildren, Shauna, Christa, Brianna, Christopher, Brittany, Nathan, Zachary and Cody and one former daughter-in-law, Kathy Porter, and her husband, Edward, of Stillwater.
