Lola Crystal Kellogg
Lola Crystal Kellogg, Shawnee, died Saturday at an Edmond hospital. She was 87.

She was born March 20, 1911, in Earlsboro to Harvey and Jesse Bryant. She moved to Shawnee while in the seventh grade and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1920.

She married E. Ray Kellogg on June 26, 1931. They owned Kellogg Tire Company at Park and Highland for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee since 1935, a member of Eastern Star and numerous bridge clubs throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by a son, Charles Kellogg, Edmond; grandchildren, Mark and Krista Myers, Edmond; Mike and Sherry Kellogg, Garland, Texas; Joni Kellogg, Edmond; great-grandchildren, Michelle, Katharyn, and Stephen Myers and Tiffany, Cailin, and Elizabeth Kellogg, all of Edmond; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Conley Stone
Conley W. "C.W." Stone, Joplin, Mo., died Friday at his home. He was 62.

He was born May 26, 1936, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Abraham Stone and Mayme Viola Hughes Stone.

He had lived Eagle Rock for four years before moving to Joplin in May 1998. Stone was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

He served 20 years beginning in 1953 and retired as technical sergeant. For 10 years he worked for Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, retiring in 1992. He was a Baptist and a member of the American Retired Military Association.

Stone married Shirley Bias at Jefferson City on April 3, 1954.

She survives at the home. He is also survived by a son, Steven W. Stone, Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Connie Yandell, Shawnee; a brother, Richard Stone, Holts Summit, Mo.; three sisters, Beverly Irwin and Doris Murphy, both of Jefferson City, Mildred Schneider, California, Mo.; and two grandsons, Jody Ayres and Erik Stone.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Martin officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Mo.

Johnny Alfred Herring
Johnny Alfred Herring died Friday in Cushing. He was 66.

He was born May 17, 1932, in Avery, Okla., to Clarence L. and Gertie M. Crail Herring.

Herring was a retired service station attendant and a member of the Church of the First Born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Chrystal Herring; five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by three brothers, Ervin Roy Herring, Cushing; Michel "Lesslie" Herring, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Othel C. Herring, Chandler; two sisters, Nellie Porter, Oregon, and Rita Tanner, Agra.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday at Parkland Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Toles officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

James Edward Hughes
James "Jimmy" Edward Hughes died Friday at a Houston, Texas, nursing home. He was 57.

He was born in Shawnee on April 21, 1941, to Dr. and Mrs. Horton E. Hughes. He was a 1959 graduate of Shawnee High School and attended Westminister University and Northwestern University. He received a master of business administration.

He served aboard the USS Maddox as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and was vice president of Central National Bank, Main Branch, Chicago.

He was a lifetime member of Sigma Chi fraternity, a member of World Traveler and Speaker, Scouts, and the Hi Y Honor Roll.

He is survived by his mother, Virginia Hughes, Houston, Texas; a brother, John Hughes, Houston, Texas; a nephew, Michael Hughes, Houston, Texas; niece Lisa Fleming, Tenaha, Texas; and 13 first cousins.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Janie Kirt Morris officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

J.D. Flowers Former Ada teacher and coach J.D. Flowers of Pharr, Texas, died Wednesday in a McAllen, Texas, hospital.

He was 73.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada with the Rev. Michael Calhoun officiating.

Burial will be at Five-Mile Cemetery.

J.D. Flowers was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Weslaco, Texas, the son of Denman and Margie Gay Flowers.

He attended school at Stonewall and received a bachelor's degree at East Central University.

He earned a master's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma.

He married Clara Bell Kifer on May 27, 1949, in Stonewall.

She preceded him in death and he later married Karlena.

Flowers had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a teacher, coach and administrator.

In 1988, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame for his coaching accomplishments and his role in organizing the Oklahoma High School Girls Basketball Association.

He is survived by his wife, Karlena Flowers, of the home; two sons, Jon D. Flowers, Shawnee; Chris Flowers, Ada; two grandchildren, and two brothers, Gerald Flowers, Ada, and Darris Flowers, Wray, Colo.

Billy Joe Lamb Meeker resident Billy Joe Lamb died Friday in Shawnee at the age of 73.

He was born June 1, 1925, in Wewoka to William Jackson and Josephine (Seely) Lamb.

He moved from Little Rock, Ark.

, to Harrah in 1989 and to Meeker in 1990.

He was a truck driver.

He married Marjorie McClure on June 1, 1991, and she preceded him in death in 1996.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters.

Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Mildred Lamb of Sparks, and niece, Sharon Stewart of Prague.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Kellerby Cemetery of Prague, with the Rev. Charles Pearcy officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Margurite L. Slover Margurite L. (Johnson) Slover, 89, Shawnee died Thursday.

Mrs. Slover was born April 28, 1909, at the site of Tinker Air Force Base to Alva and Doris Johnson.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II.

and at F.W. Woolworth for many years.

She was a member of the Little Axe Home Extension Club for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert W. Slover; son, George A. Sexton; grandson, Paul Pitts; and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bettie Jo and Claude Wood Sr., Bethel Acres; sister, Elma Johnson, Midwest City; sister and brother-in-law, Imagene and Jack Vogle, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Douglas Boulevard United Methodist Church, Midwest City, with the Rev. Leslie Long officiating.

Burial will be at Sunny Lane Cemetery under the direction of Capitol Hill Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Jewel Desma Cross Jewel Desma Cross died Wednesday in Seminole. She was 90.

Mrs. Cross was born Aug.

18, 1908, in Pleasant Oak to Wiley Byrd and Lizzie Romines.

She married Charlie A.

Cross on Feb> 7, 1925.

She was a homemaker and had been a lifelong resident of Okfuskee County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie A. Cross; three brothers, Floyd, Bill and Robert Byrd; and two sisters, Era Rogers and Edna Morphis.

Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth L. Cross, Oklahoma City; James D. Cross, Shawnee; five daughters, Helen Harris, Lake Jackson, Texas; Billie Atwood, Los Angeles, Calif.; Patricia Horn, New Orleans, La.

; Glenda Reynolds, Lompoc, Calif.; Edith Loman, Wewoka; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Okemah Church of Christ with Roger Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Jackie Johnson Jackie Johnson of Tecumseh died Wednesday at the age of 65.

Burial service were 10 a.m. Friday at Kickapoo Tribal Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Wake was Thursday at the Wahpepah home in Jones.

Jackie Johnson was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Pottawatomie County, the son of Steve and Jane Johnson.

He married Sandra Sue Condulle and worked in auto body repair.

His brother, Bobby, and one son, Victor, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue Condulle Johnson, of the home; sons, Charles, John, Travis and Manuel; daughters, Melvalene, Susie, Janette, Sandra, Marlene and Elizabeth; brothers, Wilbur, Eugene, Delbert and Tilman, and sister, Marlene.

Patricia Leigh Thompson Stephanie Lynn Thompson Patricia Leigh Thompson, 15, Crowley, Texas, died Monday in a Fort Worth hospital after being injured in a house fire.

Her sister, Stephanie Lynn Thompson, 14, died Tuesday in a Dallas hospital.

They are the granddaughters of Luther and Ruth Edwards of Shawnee.

Services will be 2 pm. today at First Baptist Church, Crowley, Texas, with graveside services 2 p.m. Monday at Arlington Memorial Cemetery, Midwest City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Baumgardner Funeral Home of Crowley.

Patricia Leigh Thompson was born Aug. 16, 1983, in Shawnee and was a student at H. F. Stevens Middle School.

Stephanie Lynn Thompson was born Aug. 5, 1984, in Shawnee and was a student at Crowley Middle School.

They are survived by their mother, Connie Thompson, Crowley, Texas; grandparents, Luther and Ruth Edwards, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Kari and Robert Jacobson, Vinita; aunts and uncles, Linda and Ron Knight, Spencer; Dora and Jerry Burchett, Chandler; Jackie and Michael Sisson, Viola and Floyd Wishon, all of Shawnee; Lola and Bobby Jameson, Denton, Texas; Benny and Ginger Edwards, Tecumseh, and many other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, House of Hope, Crowley, Texas.
