Gene Fleharty

Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 76 years.

The son of the late Raymond Fleharty and Anita Bowker Fleharty, Gene was born on Aug. 28, 1930 in Kaw City, Okla. and was reared and educated in Kaw City, graduating from Kaw City High School. Following high school, he entered the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage to Dawn Herbig on Feb. 9, 1952 at Newkirk, Okla. and to this union three children, Russell Gene, Jack Allen and Carrie Lyn were born. The couple came to Cushing in 1957 where they owned and operated a television repair business. He started working for the Postal Service in 1967, serving over the years as clerk, carrier and maintenance prior to his retirement in 1988. Mrs. Fleharty preceded him in death on July 21, 2004.

Gene was a member of the First United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school, serving several years as a Trustee and anywhere elsewhere as needed. While his sons were growing up, Gene was very active with the Cub Scouts, serving one year as a Cub Master. He was a member of the Cushing Regional Hospital Auxiliary and for several years had taken care of the vending machine. He was a dedicated father, loved to paint and tinker with tractors and lawn mowers.

Survivors include his children, Russell Gene Fleharty of Mufreeboro, Ark., Jack Allen Fleharty and his wife Judy of Dewey, Okla/ and Carrie Lyn Fleharty of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother Wayne Fleharty and his wife Eva of Kaw City, Okla.; one sister Shirley Weir and her husband Ray of Carter Lake, IA; three grandchildren, Clint Evan Fleharty, Brant Logan Fleharty and Nikki Marie Fleharty; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 11 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor officiating.

Mr. Fleharty will lie in state at the First United Methodist Church in Kaw City on Monday afternoon from 2 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. and the burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City at 4 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cushing (the floor fund for the gym) or to the First United Methodist Church of Kaw City (organ fund).

KENNETH CLAYTOR

Kenneth Ralph Claytor, longtime resident of Skiatook, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Horseshoe Bend at Beaver Lake, Arkansas, at the age of 81 years. He was born Aug. 17, 1925, at Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to James Orbin and Carrie Aster (Hammon) Claytor. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Navy during World War II. He was married Oct. 4, 1946, at Bowlegs, Oklahoma, to Bonnie Jean Rogers. He spent most of his working life with McDonnell-Douglas in Tulsa, retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of First Christian Church of Owasso. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including hunting, fishing, horses, and the outdoors. He was currently working as a park attendant at Beaver Lake in Arkansas. His greatest joy was his children and his family.

Loving family members include; daughter and son-in-law; Patricia Ann and Kay Darst, of Enid, son and daughter-in-law; Michael Wayne and Sheri Claytor, of Cushing, daughter; Kenetha Elliott, of Oologah, Okla., eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, sister, Louise Lovett; of Tulsa, brother and sister-in-law; David and Cathy Claytor, of Choctaw, Okla.

His wife Bonnie Jean, his parents, and a brother, Lloyd Orbin Claytor, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, at First Christian Church in Owasso with Pastor Ben Killion and Pastor Charlie Curran officiating. Serving as casket bearers were Tim Darst, Danny Darst, Todd Wilson, Shane Davis, Brad Rodgers and Doug Rodgers. Serving as Honorary casket bearers were Ralph Claytor, David Michael Claytor and Troy England. Committal services and interment followed at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to the Cookson Hills Christian Children's Home, Route 3, Box 200, Kansas, Okla., 74347. Services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.

Ruby Irene (Hallam) Carter

Ruby Irene (Hallam) Carter died June 25, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital following a short illness. She was eighty years old.

Mrs. Carter was born on Nov. 2, 1926 in Walker, Missouri to Charles D. Hallam and Clara May Waldren. She met Woodrow Wilson Carter through a Lonely Hearts Club and the two fell in love and married in Nevada, Missouri on June 10, 1947. From this union, nine children were born.

In addition to her parents and three half-brothers-Earl Hallam, Clarence Hallam, and Everett Hallam, she was preceded in death by her husband who died on Apr. 10, 1993, a daughter, Hazel Elizabeth, and one son, Michael Jimmy.

Survivors include five sons, Larry Carter and wife Brenda of Rattan, Okla., Marvin Carter and wife Nita of Winston Salem, N.C., Richard Carter of Terlton, Okla., Tim Carter and wife Barbara of Sapulpa Randy Carter and wife Angie of Yale; two daughters, Clara Mae Lewis and husband Howard of Yale and Joyce DeShazer and husband Mickey also of Yale; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Randell Newby, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007 in the Yale First Assembly of God Church where she was a longtime member. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Oilton, Okla.

Ruby Carter was a loving and compassionate mother and grandmother and a devout Christian and leaves behind many friends and relatives.

Billy Ray Clawson, Jr.

Billy Ray Clawson Jr., age 24 of Oilton, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006 in Springdale, Ark. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Drumright Freewill Baptist Church, Drumright, Okla.

Pastor Tim Gillespie will officiate. Interment will follow at the Underwood Cemetery, Yale, Okla.

Services are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Oilton, Oklahoma.

Billy Ray Clawson Jr. was born on May 24, 1982 in Drumright to Bill Ray and Patty (Jones) Clawson Sr. He grew up in Drumright and graduated from Oilton High School in 2001. While in high school he attended Vo-tech, where he studied telecommunications. Billy Ray married Sheila Sherman on Sept. 10, 2004 in Drumright, Oklahoma. He worked in construction. Billy Ray was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Drumright. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Oilton and Silver City Fire Departments.

Billy was known to be very neat and tidy. He was an avid O.U. Sooner Fan.

Billy loved his family and always had a smile for everyone.

Billy Ray is survived by his wife Sheila of the home, daughter Ashlynn Clawson of the home, parents Bill and Patty Clawson of Oilton, brother Chris Clawson of Tulsa, sisters Kelli Smith and husband Cory of Chickasha and Amanda Burrows and husband T. J. of Oilton, grandparents Bill and Phyllis Due of Pryor, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents A. J. and Vasca Clawson.

Lovey Jean Toles

Lovey Jean Toles, age 75 of Agra, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in Agra. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the Church of the Firstborn, Agra, Okla.. Brother Tom Wright will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Okla.

Serving as casketbearers will be Brandon Bond, Brad Gallagher, David Walker, Darrell Stevens, Eric Seitsinger and Justin Seitsinger.

Services are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Lovey was born on Oct. 2, 1931 in Agra, Okla. to the late Alvy and Ellen (Whitman) Thompson. Lovey was one of nine siblings. She grew up in the Agra and Chandler area, attending Chandler schools. Lovey married Charles William Toles on Aug. 5, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas. She went to work for O.S.U. in 1967 and retired in the spring of 1987 as Postmaster at O.S.U. Lovey was a member of the Church of the Firstborn in Agra, where she enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School. She would often take her grandchildren and great grandchildren with her. Lovey like photography and even took photography classes. She loved to cook for her family and for her friends. Lovey liked to do for others. She also enjoyed sewing.

Lovey is survived by her daughters Patricia Jean Brown and her husband Lynn of Agra, Johnnie Lucille Stark and her husband Byron of Agra, son Jim W. Toles and his wife Janene of Agra, brothers Harley Thompson of Cushing, Jack Thompson of Dublin, Texas, Carl Thompson of Agra, sisters Leota Wright of Chandler and Lois Blake of Cushing, four grandchildren Rodney Evans, Tamara Walker and husband David, Pamela Bond and husband Rick, Kimberly Gallagher and husband Brad, five great grandchildren Brandon, Kayla, Dillon, Sheay and Lauren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles William Toles, brothers Walter Thompson and Lee Thompson, sister Nellie Stevens.

Eric H. Perkins

Eric H. Perkins, a Perkins resident and employee of National Standard in Stillwater, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the age of 31 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2007 in the Stillwater Church of the First Born with Brother Hardy Hamm and Brother Jerry Whittman officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Okla.

Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

The son of Joanne and Lawrence McFarlin, Eric was born on Nov. 9, 1975 in Houston, Texas. Eric was reared and educated in the Glencoe area, graduating from Glencoe High School.

Eric was united in marriage to Tabitha Gray on Mar. 30, 1996 in Stillwater and had moved to Perkins in 2005.

In his spare time, Eric enjoyed fishing and helping anyone that was in need, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and playing with his kids. Eric will be remembered as a man that loved the Lord and loved serving his Lord.

Eric is survived by his wife Tabitha of the home in Perkins; six children, Joshua, Michel, Nathan, Jessica, Jacen, and Rosamary; parents, Lawrence and Joanne McFarlin of Glencoe; one brother, Larry McFarlin of Perkins; four sisters, Tama McFarlin of Morrison, Nicole Rupe of Stillwater, Candice Hartsoe of DeWitt, Ark., and Heather Focht of Perkins; and other relatives and friends.

The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the “Perkins’ Family Fund” care of Stroud Bank, P.O. Box 159, Perkins, OK 74059.

William “Bill” Carlton Martin

William “Bill” Carlton Martin, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on July 12, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years.

The son of the late Leonard C. Martin and Verna C. (Sumrall) Martin, Bill was born on March 23, 1928 in Brinkman, Okla. He was reared and educated in Granite, Okla., graduating from Ozark High School in Granite. After completing high school, Bill entered into the United States Air Force where he served from May 14, 1946 until May 13, 1949. While in the Air Force, Bill served in Japan as an auto mechanic. After receiving his honorary discharge, Bill returned to Oklahoma where he was united in marriage to June Cowger on Jan. 4, 1952 in Granite. June passed away on Nov. 30, 1996.

Bill had owned and operated the OK Radiator Shop, which was located on North Steele in Cushing from 1972 until 2003. In his spare time he enjoyed playing Skipbo, dominoes, and other card games. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball and on numerous occasions he had made as many as four games in one night.

Bill will be remembered by all his coffee-drinking buddies at the “Pink Palace” or otherwise known as the Homestead. His family will remember how he loved studying the Bible and how much he enjoyed having one on one Bible studies with his friend J.I. “Hardrock” Flynt.

Survivors include his three daughters, Gaye Jones and her husband Elmer, Becky Roe and her husband Buddy, and Sherri Hutchison and her husband Tony all of Cushing; eight grandchildren, Christal Walters, Travis Jones, Trey Roe and his wife Autum, Martin Roe, William Jones, Rachel Wagnon and her husband J.C., Heath Hutchison, and J.I. Hutchison; one great-grandson, Beau Roe; one sister, Anna Murray and her husband John; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife June, one brother, Eddie Martin and one sister, Alice Harville preceded Bill in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2007 in the Church of Christ located at 9th and Linwood in Cushing. Burial will follow in the Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, Okla. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Bill. Condolences and an online guestbook are available at www.Palmarlerfh.com.

Teresa Marie Heinly-Banks

Teresa Marie Heinly-Banks of Tucson, Ariz., passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007 in Tucson, at the age of 57 years.

The daughter of the late William Heinly and Patricia Kelly Heinly, Teresa was born on May 12, 1950 in Cushing, Okla. and was reared and educated in Tulsa. Prior to her death she was an audio production specialist, which allowed her the opportunity to travel the world. She enjoyed traveling and living life to its fullest.

She is survived by one sister, Jeanie Moreno of Tulsa, OK and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held in the Fairlawn Cemetery on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 11 A.M.
