Barbara Dell Hardimon
Oklahoma City resident Barbara Dell Hardimon, 70, died Monday at an Oklahoma City nursing home.

She was born to George Edgar Day and Eva (Henson) Day Smallwood in San Angelo, Texas, on Dec. 14, 1932.

She married Charles E. Hardimon Sr. in Midwest City on April 20, 1990.

She lived in Oklahoma City most of her life and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Southern Hills Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Oklahoma City.

Her parents, husband Charles E. Hardimon, one sister and a nephew preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter and one son-in-law, Tina and Chris Sorenson, Shawnee; son, Charles Hardimon Jr., Oklahoma City; brother, Gerald Day, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and two nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Southern Hills Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Oklahoma City with the Rev. O.J. Jackson officiating.

Burial will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

Garrel R. Hawkins
Garrel R. Hawkins died Friday, Feb. 13, at his Shawnee home. He was 88 years old.

He was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Hanson to Finis and Lydia Wofford Hawkins.

He was a Pawhuska High School graduate and attended Okmulgee Tech. He was a World War II veteran.

Hawkins married Bertha Turner in 1938.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel Brooks and Gladys Bruton; and three brothers, Earl Hawkins, Henry Hawkins and Tom Hawkins.

Hawkins is survived by one brother, Jim Hawkins of Midwest City; two sisters, Louise Brown of Rosemead, Calif., and Gloria Langston of Tulsa; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Chapel with the Rev. Robert Ware officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Robert Lee Doyal
Robert Lee Doyal, 87, Burleson, Texas, died Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debra Burleson, Texas; four granddaughters; one grandson; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home, Hugo. Burial will follow in Grant Cemetery, Grant, Okla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Howard Oscar Welsh
Howard Oscar Welsh, 79, Harrah, died Monday.

Services are pending with Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Melvin Kerr
Melvin Kerr, 77, of Maud died Monday at a Shawnee hospital. Survivors include his wife, Donna G. Kerr of the home; two sons, Melton Kerr of Norman and Randy Kerr Sr. of Maud; one daughter, Barbara Kerr of Maud; three brothes Dober Kerr of Calumet, Okla., Red Kerr of Jones, and Raymond Kerr of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Maud with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Edith Krausse
Edith V. Krausse, 91, of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Home Chapel.

Cade Lozano
Cade Lozano, 2, died Sunday at his home.

Survivors include his parents, Carlos and Tara (French) Lozano; a twin brother, Declin Lozano; sister, Aidan Lozano, all of the home; grandparents, Jack Jr. and Lynette French of Tecumseh, Buddy and Tami Lawson of Shawnee, Toni Lozano of Porum Landing of Lake Eufaula, Joe and Dina Lozano of Ecuador; great-grandparents, Jack Sr. and Martha French and Bill and Jody Roberts, all of Tecumseh, Bill and Carol Dickerson of Edmond and Catarina Munoz of Premont, Texas; and several uncles and aunts.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Guardian North Chapel in Oklahoma City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Neonatal Parents Network at P.O. Box 21072, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73156.

Adolph Lurue Garfield Jr.
Adolph Lurue Garfield Jr., stillborn infant of Jessica Harrison and Adolph L. Garfield Sr. died Saturday at Seminole Medical Center.

Survivors include one sister, Iesha Harrison; three half-brothers, DeAngell Garfield, Monterio Garfield and Kyle Wayne Garfield; maternal grandparents, Wanda and Willie Bruner of Wewoka; paternal grandparents, H. P. and Dee Bradshaw of Shawnee; two aunts, Crystal Smith of Wewoka and Darla Smith of Michigan; and one uncle, Rhona Smith of Michigan.

A private, family graveside service was held Tuesday at the Harrison-Tiger Family Cemetery in Seminole County with the Rev. H. P. Bradshaw officiating. Burial will followed under the direction of Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Susie Collins
Susie Collins, 90, of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing home.

She was born Feb. 3, 1912, in Okfuskee County, the daughter of Perry and Onie (Tulk) Gravitt.

Collins attended school at Paden.

On July 4, 1933, she married Jess Collins in Paden. She was a homemaker.

She attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God and taught Sunday school there. She had lived in Shawnee since 1971.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Robert Collins, an infant son, two brothers, Troy and J.E. Gravitt, a sister, Mable McClain, and a stepbrother, Raymond Gleason.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Jim Patterson of Wewoka; two sons and daughters-in-law, J.S. and Stella Collins of Fort Smith, Ark., and Billy J. and Debbie Collins of San Jose, Calif.; three half-brothers, Perry Gravitt of Little Rock, Alfred Gravitt of Duncanville, Texas, and Jimmy Gravitt of Choctaw; three half-sisters, Mary Ball and June Gravitt, both of Midwest City, and Betty Georgelas of Cheyenne, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Paden Cemetery with Mike Garner officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Virgia Naomi Lauback
Virgia Naomi (Welch) Lauback, 71, died Monday, March 25, 2002 in Midwest City.

She was born Oct. 14, 1930, in Addington, Okla., the daughter of Lee Cruse and Zada Elsie (Doss) Welch.

Lauback married Billy Bob Lauback in Oklahoma City.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1948 and was a member of the Shawnee High School Alumni Association.

She worked as a waitress for Truck Stops of America for 10 years, retiring in 1998.

At the time of her death, Lauback was working as a sales clerk in the jewelry department at Sam's Wholesale in Midwest City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Chuck Welch, a son, Dennis Smith, and two grandsons, Kelly Smith and Randy Wisdom.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jack Smith of Roanoke, Texas, Steve Smith of St. Louis, Mo., and Kyle Lauback of Newalla; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Hayden Burleson of Norman and Kelli and Tom Carter of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Becky Bennett of Moore; a brother, Raymond Clyde Welch of Shawnee; a sister, Wilma Cockman of Shawnee; a sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Clifford Croswell of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Mattie Welch of Irving, Texas; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City.

Arrangements are being handled by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Gladys L. Sherrell
Wellston resident Gladys L. Sherrell, 103, died Tuesday, March 23, in Chandler.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wellston Cemetery with the Rev. Timothy and Beverly Stuart officiating. Viewing will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday and until noon on Saturday at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Wellston.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler is in charge of arrangements.

Ellen Catherine Lee
Ellen Catherine Lee, 89, of Shawnee died Tuesday, March 23, at a Shawnee care center.

She married Maurice Lee on Nov. 27, 1934, in Shawnee and they ran a photography business from 1934 to the mid-1970s.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; one baby brother; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include children, Nancy Bird of Oklahoma City, Bud Lee and wife, Bern, of Canton, Texas, and Marc Lee of Norman; five grandchildren, Marcus H. Bird, Cathy Gazahl, Lisa Johnson, Shane Lee and Greg Lee; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee with the Rev. Joe Grizzle officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Richard Lee Young
Longtime Chandler resident Richard Lee Young died Sunday at the age of 57.

Survivors include his brothers, Dan Young, Chandler; Gordon Young, Kendrick; Jim Young, Chandler; Larry Young, Chandler; and Tom Young, Chandler; care giver, Donnie Wilson, and many other relatives.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Friends Church in Chandler with the Rev. Bruce Newby officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Mary Irene Gorham
Former Chandler resident Mary Irene Gorham of Carson City, Nev., died Thursday, March 20, at the age of 90.

Survivors include her son, John C. Gorham, Carson City, Nev.; daughters and son-in-law, Shirley M. Corry, Dallas, Texas; Linda C. and Charles Baird, Reno, Nev.; sister, Hazel Snakard, Chandler; six grandchildren, and several other relatives.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today in Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, with the Rev. Fred Rider officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Ronald Joseph Champagne
Ronald Joseph Champagne died Saturday in Tecumseh at the age of 66.

He was born May 20, 1936, in New Orleans, La., the son of Nolan Joseph Champagne and Grace Marie (Lewis) Treadwell Champagne.

He was reared in New Orleans and spent most of his adult life in Oklahoma and Louisiana. He attended Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City. He had lived in Tecumseh for six months.

Champagne served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1956, and played minor league baseball following his army service.

He worked in sales for several years before opening Champagne Painting which he operated until retirement in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Champagne, and half sister Brenda Champagne.

Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronald "Joe" Jr. and Brenda Champagne, Phoenix, Ariz.; Felix Champagne, Woodbridge, N.J.; Phillip Champagne, Slidell, La.; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Jack Talley, Tecumseh; five grandchildren; two sisters, Maudelle Treadwell, Tecumseh; Jean Pannullo, Tampa; brother, Glen Champagne, Lafayette, La.; half sister, Karen Galloway, Abita Springs, La., and friend, Nell McCarley, Tecumseh.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Bob Anderson officiating.

William Thompson
William "Vic" Thompson, 86, of Tecumseh died Saturday in Tecumseh.

He was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Union Town, Kan., to W.D. and Clara Edna (Osborne) Thompson. He grew up in Tecumseh and had lived in Shawnee since 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 305th Bomb Group and the 422nd Bomb Squadron with the Eighth Air Force.

He married Barbara Jane Lawrence on Sept. 4, 1955, in Stroud. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1990.

Thompson was a carpenter and construction worker. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Shawnee.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, C.R. "Ruck" Thompson, Roland Thompson and Delbert Thompson, and two sisters, Ruth Carpenter and Eva Goldrick.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Donald Phillips of Oklahoma City; son and daughter in-law, Bill and April Thompson of Shawnee; grandson, Robert Michael Thompson, and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with James Walters officiating. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
