Ellison B. Poncho
Shawnee resident Ellison Poncho, 51, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born Dec. 21, 1950, in Livingston, Texas, to Norris and Rebecca (Thompson) Poncho.

Poncho worked for Eaton as a CNC machinist and lived in Shawnee most of his life.

He married Renee Masquat Sept. 5, 1972, in Shawnee.

He was a member of the Sallateeska Baptist Church.

Poncho was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Renee of the home; two sons, Shane Poncho and Isaiah Poncho, both of Livingston, Texas; two daughters, Laquita Poncho and Naamah Renee Poncho, both of Shawnee; his father, Norris Poncho of Livingston, Texas; four sisters, Peggy Willis of Silsbee, Texas, Jacqueline Thompson, Waynne Poncho and Boni Rodriguez, all of Livingston, Texas; four granddaughters, Katie Woods, Taylor Poncho, Shaena Poncho and Niyah Campbell; five grandsons, Dillon Poncho, Adam Romirez, Nicholas Poncho, Troy Campbell Jr. and Miguel Poncho; two aunts, Diane Abbey of Houstn, Texas, and Christine Poncho of Livingston; and a number of uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Vernon Poncho officiating. Burial will follow at Alabama-Coushatta Reservation Cemetery of Livingston, Texas.

Rose Mary Sams
Rose Mary Sams, 90, Meeker, died Friday, April 2.

She was born Oct. 19, 1913, in Meeker, the daughter of Leo Marac and May (Ingel) Marac.

She attended and graduated from Meeker High School. In 1943, she married Ralph Sams. She had owned and operated Linda's Cafe in Meeker and later worked as secretary to the county commissioner.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Meeker and numerous other groups and clubs.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one brother, Bill Marac, and sister, Margaret Gann.

Surviving are three children and spouses, Linda and Bill Hyams of Shawnee; Steve Sams of Point Richmond, Calif., and Anthony and Waunita Sams of Meeker; five grandchildren, Aaron, Lisa, Sally, Steve Jr. and Shane; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Bryan; sister, Frances Dinger, of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Homer Sams; and several other family members and friends.

A wake will be 6 p.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Meeker. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Meeker. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Home.

Marie Alexander
Shawnee resident Marie Alexander, 79, died Tuesday, April 20, at a McLoud nursing home.

She was born May 8, 1924, in Macomb to John and Ethel Vandever. She attended Macomb schools.

On Jan. 19, 1946, she married Ralph Alexander in Shawnee and was a homemaker. She was a member of Dale United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leta Brock; two brothers, Leon and Jack Vandever, and a granddaughter, Kerri Dawn Alexander.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Alexander of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Aleta Alexander, David and Carol Alexander, Kenny Alexander, all of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Vandever of Blanchard, Raymond Vandever of Seminole and Orvil Vandever of Shawnee, and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Russell Currie officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.

Marty Kinnamon Simpson McGovern
Bethany resident Marty Kinnamon Simpson McGovern died Monday, April 19, in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 46.

She was born Oct. 7, 1957, in Shawnee to Bobby Lee Kinnamon and Judy Dianne (Kemper) Kinnamon. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1975 and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1979. She married Pat McGovern.

She worked in special education for the Department of Education of the State of Oklahoma and was an active member of the Camp Fire Girls.

Survivors include her husband, Pat McGovern of Bethany; son, Craig Simpson of Bethany; parents, Bob and Judy Kinnamon of Shawnee; brother, Joel Kinnamon of Pleasanton, Calif., and grandmother, Lois Braman of Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Tom Wilks officiating. A private burial will be held.

Cristina M. McBroom
Longtime McLoud resident Cristina M. McBroom, 64, died Tuesday, April 20, in Midwest City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of McLoud with the Rev. Mike Taylor, the Rev. Larry Sparks and the Rev. Bill Derrick officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.

Margaret H. Yates
Shawnee resident Margaret H. Yates, 78, died Wednesday at her residence.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Katherine L. Curry
Former Pauls Valley resident Katherine L. Curry, 82, of Shawnee died Tuesday at a Shawnee hospital.

She was born April 5, 1920, in Shawnee to J.T. and Ada Florence (Harmon) Morton.

She married Jack W. "Red" Curry on Aug. 15, 1940, in Ada. The couple moved in 1952 to Pauls Valley. She returned to Shawnee in 2000 to be closer to her daughter and family.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Pauls Valley.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 27, 1995, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Southard and her husband Allen of Shawnee; five grandchildren and their spouses, Tiffany Barrett and her husband Jack of Arlington, Texas, Tammy Heath of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kelly Southard and Jennifer Southard of Ft. Smith, Ark., and James Southard of VanBuren, Ark.; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Clay Sparks of Seminole; two nieces and one nephew.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stufflebean Chapel in Pauls Valley with the Rev. Joe Masterson and Chuck Lightfoot officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Anna Marie Detamore
Anna Marie Detamore, 92, Shawnee, died Friday, April 17. She was born May 2, 1911 to Charles and Anna Lowe in Chicago, IL. She was educated in Indiana with her six brothers. She met and later married Joe M Detamore of Shawnee in Crown Point, Indiana in 1932.

They moved to Shawnee in 1932 residing in the Detamore family home. Joe Detamore passed away April 1973.

Mrs. Detamore attended nursing School at The Old City Hospital (Shawnee). Upon graduation, she was employed at the A.C.H. Hospital, later, Shawnee Medical Center Hospital, retiring after ten years. For several years after retirement she did special duty nursing for local families in Shawnee.

Mrs. Detamore was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for 34 years and an active member of the LPN Association.

Mrs. Detamore attended The First Church of the Nazarene in Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Detamore, daughters Margaret and Mary Lou, and son Charles A. Detamore.

Survivors include son Roger Detamore & daughter-in-law Judy; daughter Susan Kinkade & son-in-law Clark Kincade Sr.; daughter Anne Lee Perry & son-in-law Hubert; two brothers Gene & Don Lowe; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial service time pending for Monday April 19, 2004, at The First Nazarene Church, Shawnee.

Meeker resident Claud Earp, 78, died Saturday in Chandler.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Monday at Rossville Cemetery in Wellston with the Rev. Glen Walters officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

Dorothy F. Timmons
Harrah resident Dorothy F. Timmons, 91, died Friday, April 17. Services are pending with Smith-Parks Funeral Service of Harrah.

Dorothy D. Pearson
Longtime Seminole resident Dorothy D. Pearson, 82, of Tyler, Texas, died Thursday, April 15, in Tyler.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Danny Conner
Shawnee resident Danny Conner, 40, died Friday, April 16, in Shawnee.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with chaplain Jim Kirkendall and the Rev. Jimmy Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Other information is pending and will be released by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Mary Jane Johnson
Mary Jane Johnson, 83, of Shawnee died Friday at her home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

Ronald Steven Walker
Shawnee resident Ronald Steven Walker, 49, died Thursday at his home.

Survivors include a mother and stepfather, Virginia and Martin York of Harrah; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Shawn and Brandie Walker, Nathan and Rachel Walker, Chance and Amanda Walker, Lance Walker and Drew Walker; six grandchildren, Cara, Autumn, Lang, Madison, Charity and Xaniel; two brothers, John Walker of Edmond and David Walker of El Reno; and a sister, Gayle of Oklahoma City.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Lakeview Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

She was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Asher to Sherwood and Susie (Ballard) Starr.

She was married to Earl W. Bingamon Jr. for 23 years.

Bingamon worked as a waitress/hostess at various places.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Asher.

Bingamon was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Isaac, Daniel, Sherman and Jessie; two sisters, Alice "Sis" and Joyce "Cricket;" and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Edith Bingamon.

Survivors include her husband, Earl, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Houston and Dulayna Murray of Sallisaw, Errol and Trenee Murray of Asher, Eddie Murray, Evan and Whitney Murray, Dobber and Dianne Bingamon and King and DeLayne Bingamon, all of Ada; daughters and sons-in-law, LaDonna and Paul Campbell of Ada, Valarie and Jimmy Stokes of Tecumseh, Eva Murray of Monett, Mo., Robin and Bill Jackson of Ada and Holly and John Hoover of Broken Arrow; sister, Louise Palmer of Midwest City; and brother, Chester Starr of Van Buren, Ark.; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon Starr of Monett and Betty and Bill Parham of Ada; 26 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Asher with the Rev. Tony Folger and Dobber Bingamon officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Home.
