Richard James Forrest
Shawnee resident Richard James Forrest, 43, died Wednesday.

He was born Jan. 7, 1959, in Connecticut to Richard P. and Joy (Freeman) Forrest. After graduating from high school, he earned his bachelor's degree from Rose State College.

He was in the U.S. Navy and he worked 25 years as a city letter carrier for the Shawnee Post Office.

He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee.

Preceding him in death were his father, Richard P. Forrest, and his grandparents, Richard P. and Dorothy Forrest.

Surviving relatives include his mother, Joy Forrest of Valley Forge, Pa.; a brother, Stephen Forrest of Oklahoma City; and a nephew, Cameron Forrest of Bethel.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Janie Kirt Morris officiating.

Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Flossie Flo Davidson
Sasakwa resident Flossie Flo Davidson, 89, died Thursday in Ada.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, R.C. Brewer of Sasakwa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bakersfield Cemetery of Bakersfield, Mo., under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Naomi Allen Bryan
Naomi Allen Bryan, 84, of Seminole died Tuesday at a Seminole nursing home.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dickey and Mary Bryan of Seminole; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Sam Pool of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces; a nephew; and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at the historic Strothers Chapel with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Bonnie Pauline Cole
Former Shawnee resident Bonnie Pauline Cole, 92, Georgetown, Texas, died Monday at a Georgetown nursing home.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10 am. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Gabriels Funeral Home, Georgetown, Texas.

Sheila Kaye Paschal
Tecumseh resident Sheila Kaye Burton Paschal, 46, died Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include a son, Larry Lee Paschal Jr. of Columbus, S.C.; father, Charles "Jack" Burton of Tecumseh; brother, Jackie Dean Burton of Atoka; three sisters, Darlene Burton of Bethel, Teresa Comstock of Bethel and Loretta Burton of Shawnee.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Black Cemetery with David Wooten officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

D.O. Passons
D.O. Passons, 77, of Tecumseh died Monday at a local hospital.

He was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Fedora, S.D., to Bill and Bertha (Bratcher) Passons.

He attended school in Macomb and some college at the University of Oklahoma.

He worked for 10 years at the Oklahoma Seismograph and Geophysical Company in Shawnee as a surveyor for Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. From 1956 until 1974, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an electro-mechanical computer technician. He was then transferred to McCellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif., where he worked until his retirement in 1984.

He married Georgia M. Martin on April 9, 1950, in Shawnee.

He served during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army Air Force stationed in the western Pacific on the island of Saipan. He was a signet and turret mechanic for B29s 873rd Bombardment Squadron. His decorations and citations include: the Asiatic Pacific Theater medal with one bronze service star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and American Theater Medal.

He was a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and had perfect attendance for four years of high school. He was president of his freshman class. He was a member of the American Legion in Tecumseh.

He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, where he served as a song leader and Bible school teacher.

He held two American Legion school awards. In 1938, he tied for first place in seventh-grade history in Pottawatomie County. He was salutatorian of his eighth-grade class and valedictorian of his senior class. He was also active in sports, lettering three years in basketball and four years in baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters and one daughter, Leslie Kay Passons.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia, of the home; a daughter, Diane Moore of Oklahoma City; a sister, Thelma Franklin of Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Stella Martin and Ruth Neal, both of Tecumseh; and two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue and Bill Rodgers of Oklahoma City and Mary and Tom Scott of Macomb; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Dwayne Dennis officiating.

Murrell Martin
Murrell Martin, 87, of Harrah died Wednesday. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lane Cemetery, Harrah.

Arrangements are being handled by Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Dovie McGaha
Dovie McGaha, 84, of Shawnee died Tuesday.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty June Luna of Shawnee; two sons, Bill McGaha of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Frank J. McGaha Jr. of Bristow; three brothers, Orville Churchwell of Shawnee and R.L. and Roy Churchwell, both of Blythe, Calif.; six sisters, Elsie Henderson of Newalla, Willie May Troxell of Macomb, Beulah Gay of Shawnee, Viola Kirby of Noble, Bonnie Watley of Georgia, and Eline West of Norman; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in McLoud.

Jackson H. Shoemaker
The Rev. Jackson H. Shoemaker, 81, of Norman died Tuesday in Norman.

He was born Dec. 27, 1920, to Henry and Irene (Arkansas) Shoemaker in Ardmore.

Born and reared in the Ardmore area, he has lived in Norman since 1972.

On Julyu 28, 1947, he married Pauline Williams in Shawnee.

He worked as a policeman at Oklahoma City Memorial Hospital and later worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 15 years, retiring in August 1979. He was an ordained minister for 36 years.

He served with the U.S. Army and Air Force, retiring in April 1964 as a staff sergeant. While in the military, he was a fire chief and military policeman.

He was pastor of Pentecostal Church of God Indian Missions and a member of the Choctaw tribe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lou Shoemaker.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of the home; a daughter, Diane Shoemaker of Oklahoma City; a grandson, Timothy Scott Wallace of Spain; a granddaughter, Brenda Wallace of Oklahoma City; a great-granddaughter, a great-grandson; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Peggy Shoemaker of Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Dr. Don Burk and Arthur Carpitcher officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery.

A wake service also will be 7 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home.

Bobby Joe Minyard
Bobby Joe "B.J." Minyard, 73, of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local hospital.

He was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Dill City, Okla., to Joe B. Minyard and Nora (Wallace) Minyard.

Minyard attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he received a scholarship to play basketball.

He worked more than 30 years with National Life and Accident Insurance Company before retiring. He later worked as a security guard at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech for eight years. He retired from there to work with his wife in the arts and crafts business.

He married Lou Ellen Merryman on Sept. 7, 1951, in Henryetta, Okla.

Minyard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee and was a Shawnee area resident for 32 years.

Minyard was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Lou Ellen Minyard of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tammy Minyard of Harrah; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lori Minyard of Shawnee and Marilynn and Gary Benton of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Stephen and Jeff Benton, Mandy Lynch, Mellissa and Michelle Minyard, Courtney, Kirsten and Kassi Guhl; four great-grandchildren; one brother, J.B. Minyard of Pampa, Texas; two sisters, Florine Thomas of Henryetta and Denola McWilliams of Dill City, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Henry Leroy Miller
Harrah resident Henry Leroy Miller, 78, died Wednesday, May 12, in Harrah.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Ferrell Cemetery in Harrah with the Rev. Steve Eden officiating.

Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service of Harrah.

Bonnie Jean Rattray
Former Harrah resident Bonnie Jean (Hurst) Rattray, 76, died Wednesday, May 12.

She was a hair stylist.

She married Claude "Scotty" Rattray on Oct. 27, 1960, at the First Presbyterian Church, Kerr Chapel, Tulsa.

She and her husband founded an office equipment business, General Typewriter and Office Equipment.

Her father and mother, Ray W. and Elva Armenda Hurst, and two brothers, Billy Gene and Ray Hurst Jr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Claude Rattray of Tulsa; daughter and son-in-law, Robin Gail and Terry Benesh of Tulsa; two granddaughters, Allison Blair and Emily Anne Benesh of Tulsa; two sisters, Marie Kemble of Slidell, La., and Peggy Jo Hopkins of Warwick; two brothers, Don Hurst of Shawnee and Bobby Hurst of Warwick; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church, Kerr Chapel, Tulsa. Moore's Funeral Home of Tulsa is directing arrangements.

Kaylee Lynn Baxter
Kaylee Lynn Baxter of Shawnee died Saturday. She was 10 weeks old. Arrangements are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.

Charles V. Burghart
Charles V. Burghart, 68, McLoud, died Friday. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.

Inez (Coody) Rackley
Inez (Coody) Rackley died Saturday at her Shawnee home at the age of 80.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Francis Steven Miller
Chandler resident Francis Steven Miller died Friday at the age of 92.

Survivors include sisters and brother-in-law, Naomi Reed of Oklahoma City, Ruth and Jack Stephens of Midwest City and Louzetta Wolfe of Vallejo, Calif., and numerous other relatives.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Davenport Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Williams officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
