Kristy Kay (Stevenson) Kidd-Barnhart

Kristy Kay (Stevenson) Kidd-Barnhart, 48, of Cushing, passed away at her home on Wednesday July 18, 2007.

Kristy was born July 29, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas to Boyd Manville (Steve) and Doris (Youtsey) Stevenson. Kristy was a 1976 graduate of Mannford High School. She continued her education at Tulsa Community College earning a certificate in accounting.

She was employed as an accountant and business manager at several Tulsa companies.

In recent years she and her late husband Steve ìBarneyî Barnhart established Kidd@Hart Kennels where they bred and sold Bloodhounds. Their dogs have been utilized as search and rescue, cadaver, law-enforcement, show dogs and most importantly family pets. Kristy lived in the Tulsa and the surrounding area for the majority of her life, recently moving to Cushing. Kristy enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved spending time with friends and family, her pets, watching NASCAR, shooting pool (shark), and driving her convertible Mustang. She was also a connoisseur of Harley-Davidson motorcycles; this included a win at the 1992 Tulsa Abate Show in the womenís bike show category.

She is survived by her parents Boyd M. and Doris J. Stevenson, four brothers; Mike Avers of Cushing, Sonny Stevenson of Tulsa, Bobby Stevenson of Tulsa and Jerry Stevenson of Cleveland, five sisters; Angela Avers of Tulsa, La Donna Cullinan of Tulsa, Stephanie Baker of Cushing, Snooks Baker of Talala and Donna Mae Rupe of Pryor as well as their spouses, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kristy was preceded in death by her husband Steve (Barney) Barnhart, a son Derrick Lee Kidd and a brother Jimmy Stevenson. Kristy will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Services for Kristy were held on Monday July 23, 2007 at the Terlton Cemetery, Terlton, Okla. Services were entrusted to the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Bobby Dean Lawson

A graveside memorial service for Bobby Dean Lawson, age 66, of Enid will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 8, 2007 at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Cushing, Okla. Cremation arrangements were by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Bobby was born to Everett James and Ida Esther (Strong) Lawson on Mar. 29, 1941 in Cushing, and died Monday Aug. 6, 2007 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid.

He grew up in Cushing attending school there. He worked for many years in the oilfield. He also worked for the Salvation Army while living in Tulsa. Bobby moved to Enid in 2004. One sister, Reba Cline of Lubbock, Texas, special friend Maxine Marriette of Enid and four nephews survive Bobby. His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.

Jack Chastain Anderson, Jr.

Jack Chastain Anderson, Jr., passed away on Aug. 12, 2007 at the age of 48. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 in the Duck Creek Cemetery, Liberty Mounds, Okla. Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla.

Norma Jo Hauschild

Norma Jo Hauschild of Independence Missouri left this earth on Aug. 10, 2007 and was only 68. She was born Dec. 15, 1938 in Cushing, Okla. to Basil and Thelma Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hauschild in 1978. She leaves two daughters, Janet Milone and husband Rick, Cindy Wilson and husband Bill, five grandchildren, Nicole Snider, Natalie Duncan, Natasha Duncan, Justin Amberson, Jessica Wilson, and one great granddaughter, Violet Amberson. She has extended family and life-long friends in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas.

She spent 26 years working for the State of Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation Office retiring in 2004, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 am Tuesday at St. Mary Church, 611 N. Liberty, Independence, Mo. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment will be at the Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City Missouri, 64145.

Services are entrusted to Muehlebach Funeral Home.

Edith Ellen Riggs

Edith Ellen Riggs, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital, at the age of 69 years.

The daughter of the late Ted Riggs and Alice Riggs, Edith was born on Oct. 7, 1937 in Cushing. She attended Lincoln grade school and graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1957.

Edith was a member of the Salvation Army Church of Cushing and later the Salvation Army Church of Stillwater. She was an employee at OSU, Stillwater, serving in the food department. She loved serving meals to the football team and coaches and she enjoyed watching the OSU football games. Edith loved to talk; she always had a smile on her face and a joke to share with others, no matter how she was feeling. She also enjoyed being involved with the Cushing Alumni Hall.

Survivors include one sister, Betty Carroll of Yukon; one brother, Lee Riggs of Cushing; other relatives and numerous friends.

In addition to her parents, two brothers, Johnny Riggs and Gregory Riggs and one sister, Carol Riggs, preceded her in death.

Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Davis Memorial Chapel with Major Don Harris of Salvation Army Church of Ponca City, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Church of Stillwater, 1101 S. Lowry, Stillwater, Okla. 74074.

David Williams

David Williams, Maramec resident, passed away on Aug. 13, 2007 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Yale with Dr. Young Ko and Mike Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale, Okla. under the direction of the Palmer-Marler Funeral Home of Yale, Okla.

David Eugene Williams was born Oct. 14, 1965 in Cushing to Leslie E. Gene and Nila Laverne (Butcher) Williams. His early childhood was spent on the farm

Southwest of Yale in Payne County. In 1973 he moved with his parents to Pawnee County north of Yale. David attended Yale School all twelve years graduating in 1984. He was a gifted Athlete winning many awards as he led his teams in track, football and basketball. Upon his graduation from High School he accepted a basketball scholarship and played at East Central University in Ada, Okla.

All of David’s adult life has been spent working in the steel construction industry. He was employed as a welder for many years with Skinner Tank, worked as a foreman for Consolidated Tank of Kansas and more recently Bennett Steel at Cushing. At the time of his death he was employed with Matrix at the Cushing, Oklahoma Site.

David was an outdoor type of individual and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his parents, Nila and Gene of Maramec; his grandparents, Alvin and Aleene Butcher of Yale; his wife Sheila of the home; one daughter, Lindsey; one son Kevin; two stepsons Tyrel and Kennith; one stepdaughter Sarena; one adopted son Nicholas all of the home. His stepson Ryan Wright and wife Beth of Cushing; stepdaughter Emily Penaux and husband Jordan and daughter Jackolyn of Stroud; sisters, Tambra Swart and husband Tony of Sapulpa; Sherry Standefer and husband David of Cushing, brothers; Jay Williams and wife Starleen of Cushing, Jon Williams and wife Cortney of Maramec as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents L.F. and Gladys Williams and a niece Leslie Swart.

Shelly Denise Freeman

Shelly Denise Freeman, a former Cushing resident now of Depew, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007 in the Drumright Hospital at the age of 38 years.

The daughter of Shirley Cross Grigg and the late Lyle Alexander Grigg, Shelly was born on Sept. 13, 1968 in Cushing and was reared and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1986.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Freeman on Aug. 31, 1990. To this union two daughters, Chelsea and Kendra, were born.

Shelly loved to spend time with her daughters and was always involved with their sporting activities. She was a great mom. She attended the Free Will Baptist Church in Shamrock.

Survivors include her daughters, Chelsea Freeman and Kendra Freeman both of the home; her mother, Shirley Grigg of Cushing; two brothers, Chris Grigg of Sapulpa and Kent Grigg of Cushing; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at 10 A.M. in the First Christian Church, Cushing with Roger White, pastor of the Free Will Baptist Church in Shamrock, officiating.

Donations for her daughters may be made to the Shelly Freeman Fund at the Spirit Bank, Drumright.

Dorothy Owens

Dorothy Owens, lifelong resident of Cushing, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at the age of 88 years.

The daughter of the late Newton C. Fry and Lillian M. Harris Fry, Dorothy was born on Feb. 25, 1919 in Cushing and was reared and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School. She was united in marriage to Ralph Rhodes on Nov. 21, 1937 and he preceded her in death on Mar. 10, 1987. She married Howard Owens on Feb. 18, 1989 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2006.

Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church and for many years had been involved with the clothes closet ministry and director of the Keenager group. She was also very instrumental in starting the Christmas in July event at the church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, working with crafts, playing bridge at the Senior Citizen Center and volunteering time at the Silver Lining. Dorothy was a member of the Historical Society, serving as various offices over the years.

Survivors include her children, Steve Rhodes and his wife Debby of Burkburnett, Texas, James Howard Owens and his wife Mary Lou of Mustang, Okla., Dr. Thomas Owens and his wife Linda of Drumright, and Carol Sue Allred and her husband Robert of Harker Heights, Texas, one brother Chester Fry and his wife Chloe of Lone Grove, Okla.; grandchildren, David Rhodes of Paris, Tenn., Becky Dobson and her husband Bob of Muskogee, Paul Allred and his wife Caryn of Dallas, Texas, Teresa Isakson and her husband Kyle of Grapevine, Texas, Nancy Curtis and her husband Carlton of Norman, Scott Allred of Richardson, Texas, Daniel Owens and his wife Becky of Tulsa and Gayle Yost and her husband Chad of Carrolton, Texas; one nephew Larry Fry and his wife Rose of Lone Grove, Okla.; two nieces, Mary Widener and her husband John of Cushing and Karen Lee and her husband Steve of Lone Grove, Okla., and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Glenna Evans and Verna Brookshire.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at 2 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church to be used for Camp Lela or to the Sojourn Care Hospice, 101 East Broadway, Drumright, Okla. 74030.

Mary Ann Lake

Mary Ann Lake, a longtime resident of Cushing, passed away at her home on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at the age of 73 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Anthony Black. Interment will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, Okla.

The daughter of the late Thomas Paul Rayson and Mabel (Carnahan) Rayson, Mary was born on Nov. 20, 1933 in Aline, Okla. Mary had spent most of her life in Cushing where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had fifty years of service with the Order of the Eastern Star.

She worked several years as a sales clerk for Montgomery Ward in Cushing and had also been a secretary for the Cherokee Trucking Company.

Mary had met Kenneth Lake while going to the Senior Citizen’s Center in Cushing and the two were married on July 8, 1995. They often went to listen to music at the center, an event that Mary cherished. She also enjoyed her cats and dogs and had on many occasions given to the Humane Society.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth of the home; one daughter, Joy Major and her husband Leon R. of Stillwater; one step daughter, Beverly Miller and her husband Lambert of Ark.; one step son, Steve Lake and his wife Angela of Elkland, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla.
