Sharon Ann Stokes, 59, Konawa, died Thursday in Shawnee.

Surviving are her father, Earl Smith, Shawnee; husband Leroy Stokes of the home; brother, Tony Smith of Tecumseh; sisters Wanda Lehman of Shawnee and Louise Kelly of Shawnee; seven nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Konawa Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Carl James Cowell Jr.
Chandler resident Carl James Cowell, 85, died Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Edyth Cowell, Chandler; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elaine and Ronnie Gray, Chandler; Shirley Raymond, Oklahoma City; Maxine and Carroll Wade, Blanchard; fours sisters, Henryetta Glenn, Edmond; Thelma Howard, Edmond; Wanda Manning, Edmond; June Robinson, Guthrie; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Funeral Chapel in Chandler. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville. Officiating will be the Rev. Dale Carney.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

Helen F. Ramsey
Harrah resident Helen F. Ramsey, 99, died Monday.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marie Crawford; numerous nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends.

A service will be 2 p.m. today at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Harrah. Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, also in Harrah.

Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Lyda Hermita Guinn
Lyda Hermita (Chilcoat) Guinn, 76, of Sherman, Texas, a former Maud resident, died Tuesday at a Sherman hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Byrd A. Guinn Jr. of Sherman; a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Jerry Henderson of Denison, Texas; a sister, LaVonia LaVelle of Sherman; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Maud with the Rev. John Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Cummings Cemetery, Maud.

Arrangements are being handled by Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

James W. Spears
James W. Spears, 70, of Prague died Thursday. Services are pending through Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Juanita Margaret Renton
Former Shawnee resident Juanita Margaret Renton, 82, of Seminole died Wednesday at a Seminole County hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Southern of Seminole; two sisters, Erma J. Sheppard of Enterprise, Ala., and Leota Mears of Tulsa; eight stepchildren; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Lee Parker officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Daisy H. Terrell
Daisy H. Terrell, 90, Shawnee, died Thursday at a local hospital.

She was born June 15, 1911, in Jackson, Tenn., to Tom and Emma (Williamson) Harbison.

She moved to Shawnee in 1985. She worked in the civil service with Warner-Robins Air Force Base as a nurse's aid.

A member of the First Baptist Church, she also was involved in the Hallelujah Chorus.

She also was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Association of Retired Persons, the Lydia Sunday school class and was the daily KGFF birthday caller.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and two grandsons.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, June and Don Hodges, Shawnee, Dorothy Terrell of San Gabriel, Okla., and Marie and W.J. Davis of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Russell Hodges of Arkadelphia, Ark., Terri Pickering of Shawnee and Lane Davis of Burkburnett, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive family and friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

The family has designated the First Baptist Church, Tenth and Union, as appropriate for memorials.

Charles R. Morgan
Meeker resident Charles R. "Charley" Morgan, 70, died Wednesday at his home.

He was born in Ada on Dec. 23, 1932, to Cyrus Morgan and May (McLaughlin) Morgan.

He grew up in Ada, attended Ada Public Schools, graduated from Ada High School and attended East Central University.

He worked as a salesman with C&H Wholesale for approximately 17 years and later for Sullivan Wholesale for approximately 10 years.

He married Patricia Ann Holland on June 13, 1953, in Ada. He later married Debbie Knowles in 1978 in Shawnee.

He served in the U.S. Army 45th Infantry for six years during the Korean War.

A member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church, Shawnee, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he had lived in the Meeker area for approximately 10 years.

His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Morgan, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Debbie Morgan, Camarillo, Calif.; Charles A. "Tony" Morgan, Shawnee; three daughters and a son-in-law, RoxAnna Elaine Morgan, Tulsa; LaCrecia Sue and Martin Parks; Tamara Kay Edde, Shawnee; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, David and Rosemary Morgan, Norman; stepsons Eric Knowles, Tony Knowles and James Knowles; stepdaughter, Tina Knowles; and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Kenny Joe Stapp
Kenny Joe "K.J." Stapp, 51, of Seminole died Monday in Seminole.

He was born April 8, 1951, in Shawnee to K.W. and Bobbie Jo (Roselius) Stapp.

He grew up west of Tecumseh, attended Tecumseh schools and lived in Tecumseh most of his life. He had resided in Seminole two years. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He married Vickie Verre Bryan in 1992 in Van Buren, Ark.

He worked in construction as a cement finisher. He also worked in gas plant production. He was a member of the Grandparents PTA of Lawton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Doris Babb of Lawton; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Monroe of Tecumseh; granddaughter, Sara Babb of Lawton, and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Macomb.

Billy Jack Anglin
Felton, Calif., resident Billy Jack Anglin, 54, died Feb. 11 at his home.

He was born at Fort Sill in Lawton. He graduated from McLoud High School in 1967 and attended a two-year electronics school before beginning his career at the General Electric Corp., Oklahoma City, in 1968.

Through several buyouts, he came to work for Seagate Technology, where he was employed until his death. He was transferred to the Seagate Corporate Headquarters in Scotts Valley, Calif., in 2001, and worked as material manager for scheduling/planning.

He was awarded the Supply Chain Award by Seagate Technology in 2002.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur "Sandy" Laurel Anglin.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Mae Stamp Anglin, Felton, Calif.; his mother and stepfather, Mary Jean McDaniel and Stanley McDaniel, Eufaula; daughters, Stephanie Kay Higdon and her husband Paul of Cleburne, Texas; Jennifer Mae Anglin and fiance Cadmio Lopez of Newcastle; son, SSgt. Billy Lee Anglin and his wife Christy of Oklahoma City; sister, Mary Susan Maxeiner and her husband James, Oklahoma City; brother Arthur Eugene "Mike" Anglin and his wife Cindy, Harrah; three grandchildren, Taylor Allen and Maegan Nicole Higdon, Cleburne, Texas; Lauren Elizabeth Anglin, Oklahoma City, and numerous other relatives.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 313 South Highway 76, Newcastle.

Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Highland Cemetery, Stonewall, under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuaries, Oklahoma City.

Memorials may be made to the Billy Anglin Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 30152, Edmond, OK 73003.

Bethel "Beth" Bradbury Barnes
Shawnee resident Bethel "Beth" Bradbury Barnes, 67, died Friday at her home.

She was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Oklahoma City to Bill and Sarah Jane Bradbury. At age 1, her family moved to west of Shawnee Lake and to Shawnee when she was 13. She attended Shawnee High School and married Jack Barnes on June 9, 1958, in Shawnee. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Faye and James Bradbury.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Barnes, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cindy Barnes of Seminole; three grandchildren, Katrina Swedberg of Rochester, N.Y., Kyle Barnes and Summer DeAnn Barnes of Seminole; three sisters, Rosemary Henson of Choctaw, Charlene Lynch and Jean Johnston, both of Shawnee; a brother, Walter T. Bradbury of Oklahoma City; mother, Sarah Jane Bradbury of Shawnee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. The casket will be open until 9 a.m. Monday and will not be opened before or after the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Joan G. Tate
Seminole resident Joan Tate, 72, died Saturday at an Edmond hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Tate, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Dinda and Paul Rachel of Ada; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marilyn Tate of Meeker; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Borrego officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Davenport Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Lindsay L. Carr Jr.
Tecumseh resident Lindsay L. Carr Jr., 75, died Thursday in Bethany.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Carr, of the home; two daughters, Twila Carr of Tecumseh and Dee Carr of Shawnee; mother, Irene Carr of Lindsey; brother and sister-in-law, Olen and Beverly Carr of Wewoka; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Twila and Otis Cooper of Quinlan, Texas, and Ellen Baker of Lindsey; several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Main Street Church of Christ in Alex. Burial will follow in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha.

Pat Fowler
Arkansas resident Pat Fowler, 68, died Friday in Van Buren, Ark.
Survivors include her husband, Truman Fowler Jr. of Van Buren; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Steve Bowlan of Shawnee and Lucy Kinslow of Rogers, Ark.; sisters, Paulette Holden of Cecil, Ark., and Dorotha Mae Snide of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, John W. Mayner of Fort Smith, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Van Buren. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery of Ozark, Ark.

The Rev. Byrd Lee Alexander
The Rev. Byrd Lee Alexander, "Uncle Byrd Lee," 86, died Friday.

Surviving relatives include a brother, Leonard Alexander of California; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bowlegs Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Jean Marie Johnson
Jean Marie Johnson, 80, died Thursday at her home in Oklahoma City.

She was born April 5, 1922, to Alfred and Claudia Eastland. She graduated from Classen High School.

She married Jesse T. Johnson Jr. on April 4, 1942, and they had two children.

Johnson and her husband traveled together for several years with his work for the Rock Island railroad.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joyce Morgan; and an infant grandson.

Surviving relatives include her husband of 60 years, Jesse T. Johnson; a son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Linda Johnson of Yukon; a daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Phillip Hartoon of Tecumseh; two grandchildren, Trisha Johnson and Melanie Johnson, both of Oklahoma City; a great-grandson, Seth; a sister, Betty Sue Bixler of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity International Baptist Church, 1329 N.W. 23rd St., Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Guardian Funeral Homes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity International Baptist Church, Baptist Children's Home and Hospice of Oklahoma City, 2112 N.W. 50th, Oklahoma City, OK, 73112.
