Porter E. Stark
Porter E. Stark, 79, of Seminole died Wednesday at his home.

Survivors include his son, Oscar Stark of Seminole; brother, Carl Stark of Shawnee; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Mary Frances Ludlum
Shawnee resident Mary Frances (Bell) Ludlum, 79, died Monday at her home.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Glenn Peck officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family will receive visitors at noon today at Walker Funeral Service.

She was born in Antlers, Okla., on Jan. 27, 1924, to Floyd Bell and Mary Jane Bell. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1943 and lived most of her life in Texas and Oklahoma.

A homemaker and mother, she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Earlene Parker, Macomb; daughter and son-in-law, Billie Sue and Richard Byers, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Paul Byron Beesley Jr. and Cynthia Jarae Finneran of Norman, Moriah Shanahan of Eugene, Ore., Erin Byers, Oklahoma City, and Matthew Cole Byers, Denver, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Tawane Bell, Houston, Texas.

Judy D. Byrns
Judy D. Byrns, 70, of Shawnee died Wednesday at a local hospital.

She was born April 27, 1932, in Shawnee to Dewey and Grace McDaniel. She was raised in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School. She was a cosmetologist in the south Oklahoma City area.

On Nov. 26, 1949, she married Louie Byrns in Norman. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of McLoud. She lived in south Oklahoma City until retirement, then moved back to Shawnee.

Byrns was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Louie Byrns of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Diane Byrns and Bart and Carla Byrns, all of Moore; four grandchildren and spouses, Traci and Craig Davis of Moore, Terri Byrns-Donahoo and David Donahoo of south Oklahoma City, Jared Byrns and Chelsea Byrns, both of Moore; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim McDaniel of Shawnee; two sisters, Minnie Mauldin of south Oklahoma City and Billie Shehi of Skiatook; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Donny Bond officiating. The casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened after. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Bertha Ola Ockenfels
Bertha Ola Ockenfels, 92, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Athleen D. Pinkston
Warwick resident Athleen D. "Babe" Pinkston, 78, died Sunday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include her husband, Chester L. Pinkston, Warwick; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Si Green of Panama City, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Marva Jo Pinkston, Chickasha; brother, Bill Tipton of Bigelow, Ark.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Star Valley Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Thom Chapelle officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Maida F. Bailey
Shawnee resident Maida F. Bailey, 85, died Tuesday at a local hospital.

Arrangements are pending with Resthaven Funeral Home.

Newton W. Shelton
Shawnee resident Newton W. Shelton died Monday at the age of 91.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. R. Reed Lynn officiating assisted by the Rev. Richard Zimmer.

Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Shelton was born in Asher on May 27, 1911, to Lum and Minnie Shelton. He attended school in Asher and later worked for Louis Bennett Metal in Seminole, Bankoff Metal and Pipe Supply in Tulsa for 28 years, and then for Ball Pipe and Supply.

He married Lois Mullins on June 1, 1935 in Sulphur, and moved to Shawnee in 1974. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Betty Wray Shelton, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Shelton, Shawnee; four brothers, Roland Shelton, Truman Shelton, C.J. Shelton, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; Harland Shelton, Shawnee; sisters, Lela Barbee, Mickie Grishom, both of Exeter, Calif.; Jean Searns, Bakersfield, Calif., and Shirley Wilson, Conway, Ark.

Grace Irene Coats
Former Shawnee resident Grace Irene Coats, 91, died Saturday at a Yukon nursing home.

Services will be 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

The casket will remain open until the service begins and will not be reopened.

She was born in Centralia on Jan. 27, 1911, to John and Anna (Maloney) Miller. She graduated from Dexter High School in Dexter, Kan., and married Leslie Ivan Coats on Oct. 30, 1928.

She was the secretary at Immanuel Baptist Church, Shawnee, until her retirement in 1978.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; son, John Calvin Coats, and a grandson, James Keith "Tad" Green.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Adrian and Bobbye Ann Kyriakopoulos, Mustang and Buffalo, N.Y.; grandchildren, Robin Mitchell, Mustang; Sally Brownell, Shawnee; Molly Fincher, Shawnee; seven great-grandchildren, and sisters, Helen Myers, Bethany, and Pauline Nicholson, Tulsa.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.

Vesta Lee Hodges
Vesta Lee Hodges, 84, Asher, died Monday at a Purcell nursing home.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James and Beverly Hodges of Asher; brother Jack McCraw of Shawnee; sister Mollie McBroom of Maud; four granddaughters, Becky Isaacs, Linda Riddle, Jan Dye and Julie Goodnight; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Brown, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Merley H. Crook
Merley H. Crook, 87, Shawnee, died Sunday at a local nursing home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Further arrangements will be announced by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Jewel Groseclose
Meeker resident Jewel Groseclose, 49, died Sunday in Meeker.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Little Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Groseclose of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Martie and Michael Harrington of Mays Landing, N.J.; sons, Jonathan Lewis of Tulsa and Daniel Groseclose of Guymon; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carolyn Middleton, Earlsboro; and Arthur Jr. and Anna Middleton of Poteau; sister, Vera Johnson, Poteau; and 13 grandchildren.

Thelma C. Grant
Seminole resident Thelma C. Grant, 82, died Sunday at Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Mulkey officiating.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery at Wewoka under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Survivors include three sons, Marion Palmore, Buena, Texas; Kenneth Mulkey, McAllen, Texas, and Curtis Smith, Woodward; daughters, Cleta Dobbs, Dixon, Tenn.; and Mary Agular of Laguna Vista, Texas; one brother, Rev. B.A. Lee, Edmond; two sisters, Naomi Robertson, Seminole, and Neta Fitzwater, Tilly, Ark.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Judith Doris Key
Seminole resident Judith Doris (Peoples) Key, 68, died Sunday at a Midwest City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Chris Stinnett officiating.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Desdemona Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Madelene Jones, Seminole; husband, Thomas A. Key Jr. of the home; and son, Thomas A. Key III of Euless, Texas.

Minnie Mae Seber
Minnie Mae Kaseca Seber, 58, of Norman died Sunday in Oklahoma City.

She was born July 17, 1944, in Shawnee to Walter and Nancy (Squire) Kaseca.

She attended grade school in Shawnee and attended high school in Bethel and Noble. She was a graduate of Noble High School. She attended cosmetology school in Dallas.

Seber grew up in Shawnee and Norman.

She worked at a variety of jobs in Norman until retiring in 1994.

In 1965, she married Nelson Seber.

Seber was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. She was also a member of Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Betty Lou Kaseca, Delores Little Creek and two infant sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Nelson Seber of the home; two sons, James Seber of Midwest City and Walt Seber of Shawnee; one grandchild, Jamie Nicole Seber of Midwest City; four sisters, Erma Washington of Norman, Shirley Harjo of Norman, Beatrice Kaseca of Oklahoma City and JoAnn Walker of Norman; one brother, David Kaseca of Norman; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Wake services will be 7 p.m. today at Horseshoe Bend Community Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Horseshoe Bend community Center with the Rev. Bryce Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Family Cemetery.

Annie Alice Price
Benton, Ark., resident Annie Alice (Jordan) Price, 89, formerly of Shawnee, died Saturday in Benton, Ark.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Donald R. Price, pastor of Second Baptist Church in Malvern, Ark., officiating.

Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Price was born to Walter and Mayme (Parmenter) Jordan in Marshal, Ark., on March 23, 1913.

She lived most of her life in Shawnee.

In 1935, she married Lloyd Langley Price and worked with him operating a concession stand at the Federal National Bank.

Price was a member of Second Baptist Church, Malvern, Ark. She had been a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee for more than 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, an infant son, Robert Eugene, her parents, three brothers and five sisters,.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Donald R. Price, Malvern, Ark.; sisters Mildred Rose, Tulsa; and Ruth Allison, Oil Dale, Calif.; three grandchildren and their spouses, LaDon (Price) and Glen Smith, Edmond; Jimmy Dale and Cindy Price, Glen Rose, Ark.; John Allen and Rope Price, Ramona; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
