Opal Maurice “Reice” Judd

June 11, 1932 ~ Aug. 20, 2007

Opal M. “Reice” Judd, age 75 of Cushing, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 at the Resthaven Nursing Home in Cushing. Graveside memorial services are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24, 2007at 2 p.m. at the Euchee Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer-Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla.

Reice was born on June 11, 1932 in Rye, Ark. to the late Frank and Eula (Rice) Johnston. She grew up in Warren, Ark. and moved to San Pablo, Calif. as a young lady. Reice met and married Buddy Judd on Aug. 16, 1952 in Reno, Nev. They lived in Richmond, Calif. for a short while, moving back to Oklahoma in 1955.

In 1967, the Judd’s moved to Cushing where they have lived since. Reice was a homemaker. She was a member of the Tri-County Church of Christ. Reice loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and they loved spending time with her. She also enjoyed reading, card games and dominos, jigsaw puzzles, going to garage sales and was well known in town for hosting garage sales.

Reice is survived by her husband of 55 years, Buddy Judd of the home, sons; Randy Judd and Donna of Cushing, Kenneth Judd and wife Kelly of Cushing, William Judd of Cushing, one daughter, Linda Chace and husband Tom of Cushing, brother Bill Johnston and wife Marie of San Pueblo, Calif., grandchildren Stephane Rinehart and husband Paul Orsini, Brandon Gailey, Trey Chase, Joshua Chase, Kimra Chase, Christopher Judd, Hunter Judd, India Judd, Kenny F. Judd, Heather Sprayberry, Cody Judd and Colby Judd, and thirteen great grandchildren, as well nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Her parents, brothers; Bob Johnston and LaMoan Johnston, sisters; Ruby Landis and Jean Mordito, preceded her in death.

Reice will be deeply missed by those who loved her most.

In her memory as a mother and loving wife, her family remembers that wherever God needs an extra bit of love, he creates a mother.

Gary Cleve Wiggs

Gary Cleve Wiggs, a Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 64 years.

Gary's services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.

The son of John Wiggs and Mable Cooper Wiggs, Gary was born on May 12, 1943 in Cushing. He graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1962.

Gary was united in marriage to Gladys Freeman on June 18, 1991 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He had worked as a plumber for most of his life and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing poker and raising pigeons.

Survivors include his wife Gladys of the home; one son, Johnny Wiggs and his wife Tanya of Tulsa; one daughter, DeeAnn Graham and her husband Billy of Flower Mounds, Texas; mother Mable Storm of Cushing; six step-children, Gailyn Goodwin of Chelsea, Okla., Ricky Wolf and his wife Cammy of Tulsa, Steven Wolf of Tulsa, Charles Hubbard of Cushing, Terri Johnson and her husband Chad of Cushing and Shellia Hubbard of Drumright; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Bobby Wiggs.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing.

John Morris Schuster

John Morris Schuster, age 60, of Cushing Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007. Funeral services for John will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Aug. 30 2007 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing. The United State Army will conduct Military Graveside Rites at 11 a.m. on Friday morning Aug. 31, 2007 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.

Aletha Mae Snyder

Mar. 11, 1922 ~ Aug. 26, 2006

Aletha Mae Snyder, 84, of Cushing passed from this life Saturday Aug. 26, 2006 at the Linwood Nursing Center. Graveside services will be held Tuesday Aug. 29, 2006 at 9:30 A.M. The service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery located 4 miles north and one-half west of Ripley, Okla. with Reverend Larry Eslinger officiating. Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing. Those serving as pallbearers are; Lon Bolen, Lee Bolen, Russell Bolen, David Clinton, Brett Hatchett, John Stranglen, John Stranglen, Jr., and Bryan Trent.

Aletha Mae (Carothers) Snyder was born March 11, 1922 near Ripley, Oklahoma, the daughter of George and Mona (Kidder) Carothers. She married Robert Wayne Snyder on Aug. 24, 1938 and remained in the Cushing and Ripley areas the majority of her life. Aletha was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who always showed love for her family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. She has left her mark on her many children and they will all dearly miss her. Aletha had a lifetime love of music and in her youth played the banjo and guitar in a family band with her brother Dale and sister Dorothy. They entertained friends and neighbors all around Ripley. They also were broadcast on the radio as members of the Billy McGinty Band. As a farmer’s wife, she enjoyed farm life and could always be found hard at work at some chore whether canning beans or working cattle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings; Dale, Dorothy, Bob, Ray, Fern, and George; one son-in-law Raymond Clinton and one granddaughter; Stella Jean Sweeny. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Snyder, children; Sandra and husband John Stranglen of Oklahoma City, Dianne Clinton of Radley, Kansas, Barbara Trent of Grand Prairie, Texas, Wayne Snyder Jr. and wife Linda of Ripley, Judy and husband Lon Bolen of Bokchito, Okla. and Debbie and husband Brett Hatchett of Edmond, Oklahoma. Surviving sisters are Freda Tietz, Helen Sloan and brother Johnny Carothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6465 S. Yale Ave., Tulsa, Okla. 74136-7810 or to Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main P.O. Box 818. Stillwater, Okla. 74076.

Amy Beth Foster

Amy Beth Foster, 34 of Tulsa, passed away on Sept. 2, 2007. She was born on Nov. 1, 1972 in Stillwater, Okla., to parents Charles F. (Rick) Foster III and Vicki Foster. She grew up in Cushing, and graduated from Cushing High School in 1990. Amy graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She taught Special Education in the Tulsa and Broken Arrow Schools before joining Spirit Bank. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was involved with the Tulsa Healing Center. Amy’s survivors include her parents, Rick and Vicki Foster and brother Charles F. Foster IV, all of Tulsa, Aunt and Uncle Jay and Christy Foster of Grand Lake, cousins, Cari Gibson, Sara Walters of Tulsa and Emily Childress of Cushing, and many other relatives and numerous friends. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30AM, Thursday, at First United Methodist Church of Tulsa. Graveside service will be held at 2 PM, at the Euchee Valley Cemetery in Cushing, Okla. Clarence C. McFarlin

Clarence C. McFarlin, age 68, longtime Agra resident passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 in Agra. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn at Parkland, Okla. Brother Jerry Wittman and Brother Richard Wright will officiate. Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Okla. Serving as casketbearers are Scott Wittman, Brian Brickey, Jesse Wright, Derek Wittman, Dennis Wright and Alvie Wright. Honorary casketbearers are Loyd Wright, Shane Wittman and Glover Hayes, Sr.

Arrangements are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Clarence was born on Nov. 5, 1938 in Parkland, Okla. to Arthur Monroe and Nellie Ruth (Burger) McFarlin. He grew up in the Tryon/Agra area. Clarence graduated from Agra High School in 1958; he enjoyed playing basketball in school. He served his country in the U. S. Army. Clarence married Annie Ashby on June 10, 1960; she preceded him in death in 1975. He later married Barbara Miller on Feb. 7, 1978; she preceded him in death in 2003. Clarence worked for Kerr McGee Refinery and Hudson Refinery for a number of years. He later went to work for Lincoln County, District 1 as a road grader operator. He also worked at other various jobs throughout his life. Clarence was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Osage being baptized in 1959 in Parkland, Okla. by Brother Louis Wright. He enjoyed farming, hauling hay and riding his 4-wheeler.

Clarence is survived by his son Cecil McFarlin and wife Misty of Cushing, daughters Mariesa Greenfield of Tryon, Janet Potter and husband Danny of Tryon, Wilma Porter and husband Terry of DeWitt, Arkansas, brothers Arthur McFarlin and wife Marilyn of Stillwater, Lee Ray McFarlin of Cleveland, Loyal 'Bud' McFarlin and wife Lois of Tryon, sisters Nina Rodgers and husband Harold of Cushing, Sarah Carmichael of Cushing, Mary Rains and husband Leo of Ripley, Ollie Quinn of Oregon, Faye Pruitt of Cushing, grandchildren Wesley, Mandy and Jacob McFarlin, Lisa and Anna Blackbourn, Thomas and Ryan Greenfield, Danny Jr., Darrell and Dillon Potter, Andrew, Annie, Rachel, Matthew, Leah, Aaron and James Porter. Girlfriend JoAnna Cramer of Stillwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Annie McFarlin and Barbara McFarlin, brothers Henry McFarlin, James McFarlin, sisters Thelma Wittman and Ervie Murch.

Floyd Dale Butcher

Floyd Dale Butcher, age 67, former Cushing resident, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Ark. He was born on Dec. 14, 1939 in Lincoln County, Okla., a son of the late Alfred Theodore and Bernice Lorene (Wilkinson) Butcher. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 in Pine Bluff with burial at Brown Cemetery.

He grew up and attended school in Cushing, graduating with the class of 1958. Floyd had a great love of the game of bowling. Shortly after graduating he went to work at the Strike Palace Bowling Center in Cushing. He attended school to become a pin spotter mechanic and moved to Okmulgee, Okla. to work for Bee Line Bowl. He later moved to Oklahoma City to become head mechanic for Highlander Bowling Palace. In 1973 he had opportunity to move back to Cushing to manage Frontier Bowling Center. Several years later he bought the center and formed Frontier Bowling Centers, Inc., which included six centers in both Oklahoma and Texas. In 1991 he moved to Pine Bluff to manage Thunder Lanes Bowling Center until his retirement. Floyd was a member of the Family Church in White Hall, Ark. serving as a deacon and as a leader of the hospitality and prison ministries. He had been a Sergeant First Class in the 120th Supply and transportation Battalion of the Oklahoma National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Louis Butcher. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, whom he married in 1994, a son, Brock Butcher of Pine Bluff, a daughter, Nikki Kyle and husband Patrick, of Cushing, a stepson, Jeff Parmer of Pine Bluff and stepdaughter, Angela Mazanti of Memphis, Tenn., two brothers; Lloyd and his wife Pricilla of Ozark, Mo., and Leo and his wife Patsy of Palmyra, Tenn., two sisters; Deloris Green of Wheat Ridge, Colo. And Carolyn Hokit of Tuskahoma, Okla., two granddaughters; Kayla Butcher and Kristen Butcher, both of Letona Ark., five step-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Dennis Ray Galbraith

Dennis Ray Galbraith, age 57 of Cushing passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007 at the Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, Okla. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing. Sonny Johnston will officiated. Interment will followed at the Flynn Cemetery, Cushing.

Arrangements were under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Dennis was born on Feb. 27, 1950 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Billy and Ester (Jennings) Galbraith. Dennis was raised by his grandparents Jess and Alice Jennings. He grew up in Cushing and attended Cushing schools. Dennis worked for Rob Containers in Cushing for 5 years. Dennis moved to Kansas City, where he lived for 10 years, before moving back to Cushing. He later started working for the City of Cushing in the Parks Department, Sanitation Department and Animal control. He enjoyed working on cars, listening to music and being with friends.

Dennis is survived by his brothers Robert Sams and wife Anna of Cushing, Curtis Sams and wife Michelle, Gary Sams of Stillwater, Rick Sams and wife Joy of Agra, Randy Sams and fianceé Gloria George of Cushing, Friend and companion Stacie Tollette.
nieces and nephews Robbie Sams, Jamie Sams, Eric Sams, Amanda Sams, Melissa Sams, Jessica Sams, Cordia Sams, Lexey Sams and James Taylor, great nieces and nephews Seth Sides, Brandon Cravens, Preston Sams, Keeton Johnson, and one great nephew Baylor Pettit. Former wife, Debbie Asheley, and children Christy Galbraith and Sue Ann Galbraith.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepfather Dennis Vernon Sams.

Grandparents: Jess and Alice Jennings and Seth and Maybelle Sams.

Donna Leann Watkins

Donna Leann Watkins enjoyed crocheting, playing video games and spending time with her family and friends.

She passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 52 years.

The daughter of the late George Salley and Zelma Payne Salley, Donna was born on June 5, 1955 in Oklahoma City, and was reared and educated in Oklahoma.

She was united in marriage to Danny Watkins on July 22, 1972 in Agra and to this union three children, Kris, Amy and Dustin were born.

She was a member of the Church of the Christ.

Survivors include her husband Danny Watkins of the home in Agra; two sons, Kris Watkins and his wife Kerri of Cushing and Dustin Watkins of Agra; one daughter Amy Watkins of Cushing; two brothers, Kenneth Salley of Ft. Smith, Ark., and Glenn Salley of Mt. Home, Ark.; ten sisters, Gloria Collard of Tulsa, Violet Swafford of Agra, Margie Roe of Agra, Helen Richardson of Waurika, Jean Welch of Las Cruces, NM, Sue Wilson of Arkoma, Okla., Joyce Adams of Kiefer, Okla., Joann Frye of Cushing, Sherry Hadley of Sante Fe, Texas and Linda Pinkerton of Norman; two grandchildren, Kieli Watkins and Randa Watkins; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother G.W. Salley.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 from 6 ñ 8 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, East of the Funeral Home.

Eva (Boyd) McLaughlin

Eva (Boyd) McLaughlin age 83, homemaker and retired co-owner of Boyd Conoco & Welding, Yale, Okla., died Sept. 12, 2007. Visitation 1 to 8 pm Friday at Senter-Smith Mortuary, 501 S.E. Louis Boulevard, Mulvane with the family present from 7 to 8 pm; service 10 am Sat. at Mulvane Christian Church, 502 Highland Park, Mulvane; graveside 3 pm Sat. at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Okla.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas E. and Laura J. (Clark) Brown; husbands, Harold Ray Boyd, Sr., Leonard Strain, Sam McLaughlin; sisters, Fannie, Lucille and Odessa. She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Milton) Ellis, Mulvane; son, Harold Ray Jr. (Jane) Boyd, Banning, Calif.; sister, Elsie Thorne; grandchildren, Bryan, Brad, Rick, Janene, Barbara, Mark and Jay; numerous extended loved ones. Karlene Butler

Karlene Butler, formerly of Cushing now of Spring, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006 in Houston, Texas at the age of 75 years. The daughter of the late Karl Kautz and Bernice Ferguson Kautz, Karlene was born on February 10, 1931 in Cushing and was reared and educated in the Cushing Schools. She was united in marriage to James Butler on June 7, 1948 in Cushing and to this union two sons, James D. and Roger S. were born. Karlene was a homemaker and she enjoyed working with crafts. She is survived by her husband James L. Butler of the home; two sons, James D. Butler and his wife Adabeth of Granbury, Texas; and Roger S. Butler of Granbury, Texas; one brother Ed Kautz and his wife Maxine of Cushing; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Heather; two grandsons, Sam and Joseph Knight; several great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Davis Memorial Chapel with Associate Pastor Ralph Hickman, officiating. Loia Loman Read

Lois Loman Read, Cushing resident, affiliated with Broadway Mall, passed away Sept.19, 2007 in Cushing, Oklahoma. Lois was born on June 8, 1940 in Main.

One daughter, Karen Loman, and one grand daughter, Sara Loman, survive Lois.

Son Craig Loman and husband Robert Read, Jr. preceded her in death. No services are planned.
