Hershel Megehee
Hershel Megehee, 69, of Tecumseh died Monday in Shawnee.

He was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Tribbey, to John and Bricie (Abston) Megehee.

He attended Tribbey High School and was reared in Tribbey.

He married Mildred Voncille Mitchell on Feb. 5, 1953, in Tribbey. The couple lived in Tecumseh since 1969.

He worked as a salesman for several meat packing companies.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, was a Mason with the Macomb Masonic Lodge No. 310 and a member of the Woodmen of the World, Lodge No. 68.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Helen Megehee.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Megehee of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Cline of Maud; son, Steven Megehee of Tecumseh; brother and sister-in-law, Wayland and Anita Megehee of Tulsa and John Allen Megehee of Bethany; grandson, Jon Sparks of Shawnee; two great-grandchildren; and many friends and family.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh with the Rev. Tim Walker, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Arthur H. Blanken
Arthur H. Blanken, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., died Monday.

He was born July 17, 1917, in Shamrock, Okla., to John and Katie (Fick) Blanken.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1934.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railway in Utah and Omaha, Neb., and retired after 40 years.

He married Dora Kirch in 1937 in Shawnee.

They moved to Hemet, Calif., and recently moved to Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gertrude Stout of Shawnee.

Survivors include his wife, Dora; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dr. Carol Saenger of Frankfort, Ky., and Connie and Joe Farugia of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandsons and their families; two granddaughters and their families; more than 20 great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lisetta Grundmann of Shawnee, Clara and Henry Grundmann of Earlsboro and Edna French of Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Earlene Blanken of Layton, Utah; many local nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogden, Utah, on March 30, 2002.

Michael D. Jenkins
Michael D. "Mike" Jenkins, 34, of Tecumseh died Saturday in Harrah.

He was born Feb. 24, 1968, in Ceres, Calif.

He was a graduate of Earlsboro High School and was the class valedictorian.

He worked for HGP Industries in Shawnee. He was reared in Shawnee and Earlsboro. He had lived in Tecumseh for the past several years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emma and Dan Jenkins.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Betty and Fancis Wilson of Shawnee; one sister and brother-in-law, Tanya and Donnie Roach of Shawnee; one stepsister, Reta Harjo of Shawnee; three stepbrothers and their spouses, Sonny and Mary Wilson of Prague, Darrel J. Wilson of Shawnee and Terry and Kathy Wilson of Dale; two nephews, Dakota Roach and Dylan Roach; one niece, Chelsea Laxton; one aunt, Darlene Raines; three uncles, Les Monroe, Jerry Jenkins and George Jenkins, many friends and family.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Victor Cope officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Lee Edward Dervin
Lee Edward "Shorty" Dervin, 71, died Monday.

Survivors include his mother, Mable Blanche (Gamble) Dervin of Stroud; his wife, Patricia Sue "Pat" Dervin, Stroud; four stepchildren, Sam, Stephanie, Melissa and Lucinda; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Lou Dervin of Sapulpa and Jim and Shirley Dervin of Stroud; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Charlie McGuire of Drumright, Loma Marie and Junior Morton of Sapulpa and Linda and Clyde Berry of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Stroud. A service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Stroud, with the Rev. Don Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

Opal Marie Glover
Opal Marie Glover, 85, of Macomb died Monday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Bonnie Glover of Macomb; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dick Beleu of Macomb; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Romulus Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Craig and the Rev. Darrell Whiten officiating. Burial will follow in the Romulus Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Duane E. Sherman
Longtime Chandler resident Duane E. Sherman died Wednesday in Tulsa. He was 48.

Survivors include a daughter, Heather Williams of Tulsa; mother, Virginia Sherman of Chandler; brother, Terry Sherman of Chandler; sisters, Linda Powers of Oklahoma City and Anita Semtner of Shawnee; granddaughter, Hailey Williams of Tulsa, and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler. Burial will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Hattie Bell Stout
Longtime Seminole County resident Hattie Bell Stout died Tuesday at her home southwest of Seminole. She was 92.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, June and Bill Ely and Juanita and Lewis Smith, all of Oklahoma City; Evelyn and Lloyd Bolding of Kilgore, Texas; sisters, Mae Brisco and Jeanne Weston, both of Atoka; four grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia (Ely) and Jay Wilson, Albuquerque, N.M.; Roger Ely, Oklahoma City; Bo and Beth Bolding, Longview, Texas; Jeff andTami Bolding, Kilgore, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Long officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Vergie Flynn
Vergie Flynn, 77, Shawnee, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel of Shawnee.

Eva Mae Webb
Eva Mae Webb, 81, Asher died Thursday at her home..

Surviving are one daughter, Linda K. Norred, Asher; one son, Dennis Ray Drennan of Ash Grove, Mo.; sister Virginia Ketchum, Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren,; 39 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Asher with the Rev. Dewayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Faye Lemmon
Sallisaw resident Faye Lemmon, 84, formerly of Shawnee, died Tuesday in Vian.

She was born April 14, 1918, in Quanah, Texas, the daughter of John E. Lewis and Della D. Franks Lewis. She married Ray Theodore Lemmon on Jan. 24, 1937, in Rocky. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1984.

She lived in the Shawnee area from1949 to 1968.

She worked as a medicine aide for 25 years at Sequoyah Manor in Sallisaw. She was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Boatwright, Sallisaw, Velma Currens, Shawnee, and Johnnie Fuxa, Mead; sons Weldon Lemmon, Midwest City, and Bill and Gene Lemmon, both of Vian; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and firends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Backgum Harvestime Church in Blackgum with the Rev. Chris Armer and the Rev. Dwain Houston officiating. Burial will follow at Marble City Cemetery in Marble City under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Viewing will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Professional Home Health and Hospice, 507 Redwood, Sallisaw, OK 74955.

Viola Manon Stidham
Davenport resident Viola Manon Stidham, 84, died Wednesday at her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Coppola and Betty Hood, both of Davenport; two stepdaughters, Claudia Anderson of Midwest City and Ellen Grace of Sparks; three sons, Bud Stidham of Arizona, Earl Stidham of Tennessee and Lonnie E. Stidham of Stroud; two stepsons, James Simpsons of Chandler and Bill Simpsons of Wellston; one brother, Melvin Hopkins of Davenport; a sister, Ann Hill of Sulphur; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Oak Park Cemetery of Chandler with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

George J. Rader
Tecumseh resident George J. Rader, 98, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

He was born Sept. 9, 1903, in Pottawatomie County to Jewett and Exena (Dragoo) Rader on a farm five miles west of Tecumseh.

He married Fannie May Northcutt on Sept. 11, 1921, in Tecumseh and continued to farm. He moved to Tecumseh in 1926.

He retired in 1969 from Girl's Town (COJC) in Tecumseh after many years of service.

Rader was baptized in the Baptist church during the early 1920s.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Sonny Rader; daughter, Edith Davis; three brothers, Gussie, Champ and Nash Rader and a sister, Ible Williams.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Loma Jean and Wayne Carpenter of Tecumseh; sister, Emma Branson of Tecumseh; grandchildren and spouses, Steve and Lana Carpenter of Tecumseh, Michelle and Tony Pecore of Tecumseh, Pam Gracey of Mustang and Kim Logan of Little Axe; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Louis Edward Parker
Louis Edward Parker, 79, of Bethel Acres died Wednesday at his home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Pittsburg, Okla., to L. Teddy Parker and Ruth (Doyle) Parker.

He was married to Faye Marie Fitzpatrick; she preceded him in death in 1979. In July 1982, he married Vera Ellen Shoemaker.

Parker served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for the Haliburton Oil Co.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one great-grandchild.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Vera Ellen Parker of the home; a son, Robert Brent Parker and wife Judy of Bossier City, La.; five stepchildren and spouses, Ed and Vicky Haggard of Shawnee, Lonnie and Sandy Haggard of Checotah, Lynn Ries, Gloria Ries and Ellen and Allan Wallis; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Parker and wife Jan of Hot Springs, Ark., and Burton Parker and wife Annette of Del City; a sister, Barbara Marino and husband Paul of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and friends, Dean and Marge Branson of Wichita, Kan.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Cliff Briscoe officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

James H. Meyer
James H. "Jim" Meyer, 66, of Coquille, Ore., died Monday.

He was born Sept. 15, 1936, in Shawnee to James and Mary (Townson) Meyer.

Meyer had worked at Shawnee's KGFF radio station for many years in the 1950s and 1960s before moving to Los Angeles.

While in Los Angeles, he worked in both the entertainment and advertising business. As an advertising salesman, he worked for Brown and Bigelo for many years.

In 1985, he moved to Coos Bay, Ore., and in the early 1990s he moved to Coquille, Ore., where he worked out of his home.

Meyer was a member of the Coquille Valley Elks Lodge No. 1935.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Rick Meyer and Michael and June Meyer, all of Modesto, Calif.; one half brother, Monty Young of Coquille, Ore.; and three granddaughters, Dayna Meyer, Haley Meyer and Aleah Meyer, all of Modesto, Calif.

Private services will be held. Burial will be at Coquille Pioneer Cemetery in Coquille, Ore., under the direction of Amling/Schroeder-Coquille Chapel.
