Hazel Janet Brewer
Hazel Janet Brewer, 82, Sasakwa, died Tuesday at an Ada hospital.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. Brewer of the home; two sons, Ruben L. Brewer; Boulder, Colo., and Roger Lee Brewer, Konawa; a daughter, Pauline Nysveen, Konawa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Konawa Church of Christ with Frank Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Vamoosa Cemetery. Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa, is in charge of arrangements.

Lou Wesselhoft
Lou Wesselhoft, 84, of Tecumseh died Tuesday in Shawnee.

Survivors include three sisters, Leta Gray of Shawnee, Maymie Gentry of Tecumseh and Marie Bruce of Wichita Falls, Texas; three brothers, Coolidge Sanford of Non, Okla., Kenley Sanford of Coalgate, Okla., and Link Sanford of Lindsey, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. today at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Will Bentley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Larry Gene Bennett
Larry Gene Bennett, 62, of Earlsboro died Wednesday at his home.

He was born May 4, 1939, in Prague, the son of Levi Cody and Mamie Lee (Chaffin) Bennett.

Bennett graduated from Prairie Valley School in Little, Okla.

He was retired from Lucent Technologies, formerly AT&T and Western Electric, after having worked there for 36 years.

Bennett served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army.

He married Betty Arrasmith in El Reno on May 29, 1968.

He had lived in Earlsboro for the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Clara Presley and Lois Mott.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Debbie Bennett of Earlsboro; a son, Bill Bennett of Yukon; a daughter and son-in-law, Deana and Mike Keeton of Earlsboro; a daughter, LeeAnn Helvey of Earlsboro; 12 grandchildren, Cody, Chris, Meagan, Justin, Bryttnii, Brandii, Jeremy, Adam, Gary, Levi, Emily and Michael; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean, his twin and closest friend, and Wynonia Bennett of Earlsboro, J.P. and Phyllis Bennett of Harrah and Ray and Maxine Bennett of Wynnewood; a sister, Willa Mae Cox of Coalinga, Calif.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Vernon Romberg of Shawnee.

A service will be 2 p.m. today at Fairview Baptist Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial will be in the Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Resthaven Funeral Home.

Dora Mae Welborn
Dora Mae Welborn, 88, of Meeker died Thursday in Shawnee.

She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Meeker, the daughter of John Albert and Ella (Fox) Walker.

Welborn had been a Meeker area resident most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Meeker, where she taught Sunday school.

On Jan. 27, 1932, she married Floyd Welborn in Meeker. Together, they owned and operated Welborn Grocery & Market for 21 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Chester Walker.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Harold Gouker and Sue and Dale Smith, all of Meeker; a brother-in-law and his wife, J.W. and Georgia Welborn of Meeker; two sisters-in-law, Edwina Walker of Meeker and Velta Welborn of Shawnee; two grandchildren and their spouses, Brenda and Jeff Gunderson and Tammy and Fred Smith, all of Meeker; and four great-grandchildren.

A service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Meeker with the Rev. Michael Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Lela M. Mullendore
Tecumseh resident Lela M. Mullendore, 84, died Wednesday at her residence.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Delbert Akins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

L.A. Patterson
L.A. "Pat" Patterson, 90, Asher, died Thursday at a Seminole hospital.

He was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Allen, to Mace Patterson and Julia May (Shores) Patterson.

Patterson married Lela F. Bottom on March 23, 1932, in Hobart. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2002.

He was a dairy farmer and rancher and a longtime Pottawatomie County resident.

Patterson attended Asher Assembly of God Church and served on the Asher Board of Education.

He also ran for Pottawatomie County Commissioner.

Patterson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lela F. Patterson; brothers, L.M. "Big Pat" Patterson, L.D. "Little Pat" Patterson and two infant brothers; and sister, LaNore Craft.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, C. Lynn and Betty L. Patterson, Konawa; daughter and son-in-law, Karen D. and Eugene "Sonny" O'Dell Jr., Asher; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Julia O'Dell, Deriek and Angela Patterson, Denise and Kevin Bell, Sherita and Don Robertson and Gina and William Lee; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Opal Lee Bottom, Gotebo, and Lawatha Craft, Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Long officiating.

Burial will be at Vista Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

William Robert Budd
Former Shawnee resident William Robert Budd, 74, Conroe, Texas, died Wednesday.

He was born in Shawnee on Feb. 17, 1929, to Jesse Marvin and Clara Martha Stavely Budd.

Budd graduated from Shawnee High School in 1946 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1950.

He served in the military in Korea and worked in the petroleum industry until 1987.

Budd married Sheridan Shoemake of Shawnee in 1956.

Survivors include his wife, Sheridan of the home; Susan West, Killen, Texas; Kelly and Tim Wesselman, Albany, Ga.; and Anne Budd-Lowell of the home; brother, Marvin and Tempe Budd, Afton, Tenn.; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Dave Bonner, Shawnee; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. today at the Conroe Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas.

Mary B. Collin
Longtime Shawnee resident Mary B. (White) Collin, 88, Shawnee, died Wednesday in Tecumseh.

She was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Hobart, to Harry and Stella (Ferguson) White.

She was a 1932 graduate of Shawnee High School.

On October 5, 1946, she married John M. Collin in Alexandria, La. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1979.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed baby sitting and caring for the nursery at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where she was a member.

She also was a member of the Eastern Star, DAR, the American Legion Auxiliary and 8 et 40.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mildred Pittman and Minelle Noland; brothers, Paul and Harold White; son, Broughton Collin; and grandson, Paul Collin Jr.

Survivors include her son, Paul Collin, Tecumseh; daughter Jane Collin-Butch, Plantation, Fla.; daughter, Mary Coughlin, Norman; son, John M. Collin Jr., Enid; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Shawnee, with the Rev. Art Scrutchins officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 501 N. Broadway, Shawnee, OK 74801.

Gene Roper
Gene Roper, 69, of Newalla died Tuesday in Midwest City.

Survivors include his wife, Bodil Roper, of the home; son, Ron Roper of El Reno; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie and Russell W. Pemberton and Tina and Robert Stone, all of Belton, Mo.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Arlene Roper of Newalla, Kenneth and Wanda Roper of Quinlin, Texas, and Emma Roper of San Diego, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel of Harrah. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service of Harrah.

Betty Carol Georgelas
Betty Carol Georgelas, 58, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Saturday in Cheyenne.

She was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Paden, the daughter of Perry and Lecie (Sutton) Gravitt.

She graduated from Paden High School and married Arthur Georgelas on April 15, 1967. She relocated with him many times, until his retirement from the U.S. Air Force while in Cheyenne, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Troy Gravitt, J.E. Gravitt and Raymond Gleason; two sisters, Susie Collins and Mable McClain; and a sister-in-law, Lillis (Lokey) Gravitt.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; three brothers, Perry Gravitt of Little Rock, Ark., Alfred Gravitt of Duncanville, Texas, and Jim Gravitt of Choctaw; and two sisters, Mary Bell and June Gravitt, both of Midwest City.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Cheyenne, Wyo. Gravesides service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Prague Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Wiederspahn-Rodomski Funeral Home of Cheyenne and Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Bernice H. Franklin
Bernice Henrietta Franklin, 89, Stroud, died Sunday in Cushing.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Franklin of Cushing and Benjamin Franklin Jr. of Cushing; daughters, Loretta Bigbow of Yukon; Cheryl Crane, Perkins, Beatrice Franklin, Eufaula, and Sharon Little of Shawnee; one brother, Irwin Frankie Spooner of Prague; sister, Mary Ellis, Prague; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and other friends and relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Jimmy Anderson and the Rev. J.B. Matthews officiating.

Burial will be at the Sac and Fox Nation Cemetery in Stroud under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

James E. Hart
James E. Hart, 79, of Shawnee died Friday in a local hospital.

He was born March 4, 1924, in Shawnee to Ulysses Fredrick and Maggie Edwin Hutchins Hart. He attended Bethel School.

Hart was married to Ruth Lowan Cowsert Hutchins Hart.

He worked at Shawnee Milling Company in all phases of production and tested grains before they were purchased. He retired in 1985.

Hart served with the U.S. Marines during World War II in the south Pacific islands and China.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Shawnee, as well as the senior citizens program.

Hart was preceded in death by his parents and several other relatives, including W.F. and Jean Hart, Dorothy and Mack Chancellor, June and Mike Rakovan, Richard Hart, Zach Coffin, Loretta Farris, Janet Joyce and Kenneth Slaten.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Ruth Lowan Hutchins Hart; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Denise Hutchins; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Terrell, Christina Hutchins and Nick Hutchins; a great-granddaughter, Anna Terrell; and numerous other family members, including Bonnie Farris, Dean Joyce, Jane Hart, Marjorie Coffin, Shirley Slaten, Barbara and James Vickers and Velma and Herman Coffman.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Burress officiating. Burial follows in Konawa Cemetery. Walker Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
