Levina C. Sires, 72, of Shawnee died Thursday at a local nursing home.

She was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Prague to Archie and Sylvia (Peck) Hanks.

She attended Prague High School.

She was a homemaker.

She married Carl K. Sires on July 12, 1949, in Van Buren, Ark.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Hanks; and a sister, Dorothy Denney.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Sires, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Fred Gouker of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, David and Glenda Sires of Tulsa; grandchildren, Scott Gouker, Gregory Gouker, Nicholas Gouker, Rachael Sires, Joshua Sires and Isaac Sires; sister, Edna Smith of Shawnee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard Hanks of Bristow, Glen and Ann Hanks of Dover, Del., Clyde and Sue Hanks of Oklahoma City and Dr. Norman Hanks of Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Donna Schofield
Donna Schofield, 41, of Chandler died Thursday in Stroud.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Schofield, of the home; sons, Gary Schofield of Chandler, Joey Schofield of Stroud, Shawn Schofield of Chandler and Terry Schofield of Davenport; daughter, Angie Schofield of Tulsa; brothers, Billy Wayne Sanders of Twin Oaks, Jess Sanders of Twin Oaks, John Sanders of Spencer, Johnson Sanders of Kansas, Okla., Rex Sanders of Chandler, Leroy Stallings of Kansas, Okla.; sisters, Darlene McNeese of Spencer, Lucille Morgan of Jones, Lucinda Sanders of Bethany and Mary Jane Wyly of Kansas, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Wellston Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Rider officiating.

Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Harvey Phelps
Harvey Phelps, 66, of Maud died Thursday in Seminole.

Survivors include his wife, Cleone Phelps of the home; sons, Harvey Phelps Jr. of Butler, Mo., and Dean Phelps of Allen, Texas; daughters, Johnnie Poirot of Norman, Delinda Phelps of Kansas City, Mo., and Deanna Felthauser of Oklahoma City; six stepchildren; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.

Private memorial services will be at a later date.

Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Evelyn C. Wayland
Evelyn C. Wayland, 75, of Florida and formerly of Shawnee, died Saturday in Florida.

She was born March 21, 1928, in Meard, Texas, to William Oscar and Pheopal Mae (Flippans) Castleman.

She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at Douglas Aircraft. She also worked making microchips that fueled the first rocket to the moon.

She married Ervin Harry Ware and he preceded her in death in 1969. She married Russell Wayland and he preceded her in death in 1987.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William E. Castleman and Welden L. Castleman; and a grandson, Scott Warren.

Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis and Rick Warren of Fort Meyers, Fla., Peggy S. Hartman of Oklahoma City and Terry Y. McCollum of Catoosa; brothers, Harrold Ray Castleman, Bobby Jean Castleman, Harvy Doyle Castleman and Jerrel Wayne Castleman; sisters, Betty Joe Sanders and Wanda Earlene Dalby; grandchildren, Rick Warren, Mark Warren, Jennifer Dooth, Lori Clark, Jennette Cox, Donnie Lewis and Kimberly Lewis; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Fred Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Rosemary McKinley
Rosemary McKinley, 66, of Asher died Friday in Asher.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Tony Nickell and Red Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.

Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Vera Mae Dorothy Baser
Vera Mae Dorothy Baser, 80, of Seminole died Thursday at a Seminole nursing home.

Survivors include the father of her children, James Baser of Cromwell; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Carolyn Ann Baser of Belch Springs, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dick Kernal of Seminole; brother, Virgil Mitchell of Skiatook; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Little Cemetery with Shawn Crawley officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Virginia Dean Simmons
Virginia Dean Simmons, 65, of Edmond and formerly of Shawnee, died Wednesday.

She was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Ardmore to Herman and Willa Dean Epley.

She attended school in Okmulgee and Ardmore.

She married Roy Simmons on April 30, 1956, in Gainesville, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; parents; sister, Vicki Palmer; children, Rory Simmons of Broken Arrow, Scott Simmons of Noble and Traci Myrick Findahl of Edmond; grandchildren, Bryan Myrick, Lindsay Myrick, Nick Myrick, Adam Myrick, Rorie Simmons, Chase Simmons and Brian Simmons; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Baggerley Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Baggerley Memorial Chapel of Oklahoma City.

Melvin Leroy Chaffin
Services for Melvin Leroy Chaffin, 79, Prague, are 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Prague with Tim Emmons officiating.

Burial follows in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.

Chaffin died Wednesday.

Survivors include his wife Verna Chaffin, Prague; a son, Melvin R. Chaffin, Choctaw; two daughters, Linda Sherrill, Oklahoma City; Mary Castleberry, Edmond; and six grandchildren.

Bernita B. Coble
Bernita B. Coble, 75, of Shawnee died Wednesday at a local hospital.

She was born May 30, 1928, in Wellston to Albert Seebeck and Hattie (Helm) Seebeck.

She married Williams D. "Bill" Coble on March 6, 1962, in Shawnee.

She worked in the meat department at several grocery stores, including Safeway and Humpty Dumpty in Seminole and Pratts and Safeway in Shawnee.

She was a founding member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee.

She graduated from Seminole High School in 1945.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Coble of the home; brother, Melvin L. Seebeck of Ada; nephew, Melvin Seebeck; niece, Melissa Stringer; two great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Gary Brandt officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Velma Rebecca Prince
Velma Rebecca (Wren) Prince, 94, of McLoud died Wednesday in a McLoud nursing home.

She was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Parker County, Texas near Springtown to Joseph and Cener Wren.

She was a store clerk for Bird's Department Store.

Prince married Albert Prince on Dec. 23, 1928.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McLoud.

She had lived in the McLoud area since 1944.

Prince was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Joshua Prince; one brother; two sisters; and a son, Albert Eugene (Gene) Prince.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Margie Helen and James A. Barton; son and daughter-in-law, John David and Geraldine Prince; brother and sister-in-law, Herschel and Doris Wren; daughter-in-law, Shirley Prince; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Becky and Brent Behrens, James Victor and Shawn Barton, Dava and Rick Miller, Leslie and James Rudolph, Jeff and Lju Prince, Cindy and Mark Mazur, Doug and Sheree Prince, Tracy and Jennie Prince and Penny and Tom Pfefferkorn; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruby Prince; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of McLoud with the Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. The casket will be open until 1:45 p.m. and will not be opened after the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Opal Canada Dukes
Opal Canada Dukes, 93, of Prague died Thursday in Prague.

She was born June 12, 1909, in Lincoln County, the daughter of Ira and Samantha (Woods) Broyles.

Dukes lived in the Prague area most of her life.

She married Lee William Dukes on Dec. 10, 1927. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Prague. She assisted with Lincoln County elections for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and her husband on Jan. 18, 1981.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Vera Dukes, Levoy and Sue Dukes and Ledoy and Lavonne Dukes, all of Prague; a brother, Lincoln Broyles of Meeker; three sisters, Pansy Smith of Prague, Dortha Welch of Shawnee and Bernice Parrett of West Plains, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Patricia and Jerry Snyder of Guatemala, Sandra and Johnny Dean of Prague, Sherrie and Ray Lyon of Prague, Debbie and Ted Garcia of Brighton, Colo., Jerral and Susan Dukes of Perkins, Larry Dukes of Oakland, Calif., Annette and Johnny Schima of Prague and Linda and Martin T. Cash III of Prague; 13 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Service chapel in Prague with Palmer Smith and Idus England officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Opal Laverne Cagle
Opal Laverne (Nottingham) Cagle, 73, of Ada died Monday at an Ada care center.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Cagle of Ada; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mike Russell of Calvin; five grandchildren and their spouses, Eddy and Clare Russell, Jeremy Cagle, Tammy Byrd, Kassie and Daniel Ingle and Lisa Cagle; and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Calvin with the Rev. Eddy Matthews and the Rev. Bart Effinger officiating. Burial will be in the Kingston Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Amy Jannie Irwin
Amy Jannie Irwin, 91, of Meeker died Monday.

She was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Earl, Ark., to William Henry and Rebeca Viola Smith.

Irwin owned and operated the Cozy Cafe in Meeker for many years.

She was married to Grady Lee Davis, who died in 1938. She then married Lawrence Davis, who died in 1941. She later married G.M. Irwin, who also preceded her in death in 1970.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, four brothers and two sisters.

Irwin is survived by three sons, William O. Davis, of Braggs, Okla., Johnny Davis of Chandler and Kenneth Davis of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Thursday at New Hope Cemetery near Meeker with the Rev. Leon Williams officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
