Dixie Wagner
Dixie Wagner, 70, of Shawnee died Monday in Shawnee.

She was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Monroe, La., to James W. and Della (Warden) Culpepper.

She was a graduate of McNeil High School in McNeil, Miss.

She lived in Houston and McNeil, Miss., as a child and moved to Oklahoma in 1970.

She married Edward Wagner on May 28, 1964, in Freemont, Calif.

She worked for General Motors for 10 years and retired in 1995.

She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and the United Auto Workers. She was a past member of the American Postal Worker's Union.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Cynthia Lou Ridenour.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Wagner, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Danny Chambers of Shawnee and Debi and Carl Franklin of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Lynn Wagner of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Aimee and Andrew Molenda, Trey and Jennifer Powers, Jimmy Don Sigman, Brandon Chambers, Darci Chambers, Julie Chambers, Jade Wagner and Bryce Wagner; and two great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Zimmer officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service is under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Garland Dibler
Garland I. Dibler, 77, of Wellston died Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice Dibler of Harrah, Terry and Bob Cook of Oklahoma City and Shelly and Tom Geraldon of Tecumseh; brother, Richard Ragan of Indianapolis; sisters, Flossie Geller of Tulsa, Elanore Penrod of Postville, Iowa, and Betty Fisher of El Dorado, Kan.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Meeker.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.

David Lamont Cobb
David Lamont "Dave" Cobb, 84, died Tuesday at his home east of Lexington.

He was born April 8, 1919, in Shawnee to Carroll and Maggie (Cummings) Cobb.

He grew up in the Trousdale, Foster and Oklahoma City areas.

He was a World War II veteran and received several medals, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant on June 10, 1946.

He married Betty Jarnigan on Feb. 3, 1948, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He worked as a fork lift operator for the civil service at Tinker Air Force Base until he retired in 1974.

The couple moved back to the farm in Wanette, where they built a home and raised cattle for many years.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Doy Cobb and Hollis Cobb.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of 55 years; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Sharon Cobb of Wanette; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Eddie Smith of Yukon and Linda and George Edens of Vernon, Texas; sisters, Thelma Price of Laton, Calif., and Betty Price of Kingsburg, Calif.; grandchildren, Melissa, Robert, Wendy, Tamarra, Sean, Julie, Jennifer, Wes, Todd, Keila, Stephanie, Ashley, Linda, Joseph, Michael, Chuck and Derrick; 22 great-grandchildren and an aunt, Gertrude Roff.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wadley's Funeral Chapel in Purcell with the Rev. Bill Howse officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a hospice program.

Thelma King
Shawnee resident Thelma King died Tuesday in Shawnee. She was 85.

She was born May 19, 1918, in Tecumseh, the daughter of John and Naomi (Herren) Allen.

King was a 1936 graduate of Tecumseh High School and a 1943 graduate of East Central University. She lived most of her life in Tecumseh.

She married Charles King on Nov. 27, 1942, in Oklahoma City. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November.

She was an elementary school teacher at various schools and retired in 1980 after 40 years of teaching.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh, the Oklahoma Education Association and the Hill-Huett American Legion Post No. 260 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Loretta Franklin and Mary Whittall.

Survivors include her husband, Charles King of the home; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh with the Rev. Dr. Lavonn Brown and the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

Freddy Howard Murdock
Shawnee resident Freddy Howard Murdock, 38, died July 3 in Shawnee.

He was the son of Jim and Retha Murdock of Shawnee and Frances Garcia. A graduate of Dale High School, he served in the Shawnee unit of the National Guard and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Murdock was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ella Murdock; three aunts and an uncle.

Survivors include parents, Jim and Retha Murdock; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Debra Murdock Jr. and Charles Nelson and Jodi Murdock; five nieces and nephews, James David, Michael Wayne, Heather Lynn, Chelsea Faye and Mercedes Jean; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tribal rites were held July 4 north of McLoud. Burial was held at the family cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.

Thomas H. Duncan
Thomas H. Duncan, 84, Norman, died Tuesday in Greenville, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Aubeda Lois (Hunt) Duncan; sons, Louis T. Duncan and wife Orvillene and Hugh J. Duncan and wife Joyce; daughter, Mary L. Hudson and husband Bruce; brother, James Taylor "J.T." Duncan; sister Mary Haggard; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Norman with the Rev. John Gifford and the Rev. Hugh J. Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Tecumseh under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

George F. Winter
George F. Winter of Oklahoma City, 70, died Wednesday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Icie M. Winter; brother, Ray Winter of Coyle; and sister, Gladys Mershon of Edmond.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Parks Brother Funeral Service in Prague.

Virginia Ann Davis
Former Shawnee resident Virginia Ann (Farris) Davis, 73, Marble Falls, Texas, died June 5 at her home.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Guerard and husband Sandy; and two grandchildren.

Local memorial service will be 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at Blackburn Chapel of Shawnee.

Thelma King

Ina Mae Howard
Harrah resident Ina Mae Howard died Wednesday in Harrah. She was 86.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Norma Howard of Harrah and Ronald and Mary Howard of Germany; a brother and sister-in-law, R.L. and Maxine Cooper of Glenpool; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Mounds Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah.

Edward Thomas Hornbeak
Edward Thomas "Cotton" Hornbeak, 75, Meeker, died Thursday in Shawnee.

He was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Picher to Conzie and Zenith (Menser) Hornbeak.

He was a resident of Meeker the past 27 years, but was reared in the country.

Hornbeak retired from OG&E in 1981 after 31 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He married Norma Hall June 26, 1946, in Shawnee.

Hornbeak was a member of the First Christian Church of Meeker.

His parents, one brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Norma Hornbeak, Meeker; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Rexanna Hornbeak, Meeker; daughter Connie Fowble, Oklahoma City; grandchildren Jerrod Fowble, B.J. Fowble and Landon Hornbeak.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker.

The U.S. Navy Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.
