Benny Bray
Benny "Ben" Bray, 49, Macomb, died Tuesday at his home.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Friday at Mountain Home Cemetery in Enterprise, Okla. Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.

Bray was born Dec. 31, 1952, in Quinton to Calvin James and Betty Louise (Cross) Bray. He grew up in Hinton but lived in Macomb since 1980.

On Aug. 17, 1977, he and Mary Kay Bray were married in Romulas Baptist Church. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1993.

He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Brandy Renee Bray, and brother, Herman Bray.

He worked for Panoma Farms, Pottawatomie County District 2 and in the oil fields

He served in the U.S. Army.

He supported organ donation in Oklahoma.

Survivors include his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Travis Kinsey of the home; grandson, Jake Kinsey of the home; fiancée, Brenda Lester, Macomb; three sisters and brothers-and-law, Bonnie and Wally Lucas, Swan Lake; Patricia Morrow, Shawnee, Tammie and Earnest Martinez, Carnegie; a niece, Ginger Flinn; nephew, Jeffrey Marrow; great niece, Britney Louise Flinn, and great-nephew, Malaki Barrera.

Randy Wayne Smith
Graveside services for Randy Wayne Smith, 40, Bowlegs, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Swearington Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Smith died Wednesday at Bowlegs.

Survivors include his parents, John and Patsy Smith, Bowlegs, a son, Justin Wade Smith, Bowlegs; a brother, Rick Smith, Dale; and grandmothers Lenora Ring, Seminole, and Norma Anderson, Bowlegs.

Earl Roper
Newalla resident Earl Roper, 83, died Thursday in Midwest City.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Lee Roper of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cindy Roper of Wanette; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Lidge and Emma of San Diego, Calif., Raymond and Arlene of Newalla, Gene and Bodel of Newalla and Kenneth and Wanda of Quinlin, Texas; five grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Newalla with the Rev. Griff Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Pearl Denney
Services for Pearl Denney, 94, Prague, are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague. Mrs. Denney died Thursday.

John Ellenberger
John Ellenberger, 77, Shawnee, died Thursday in Shawnee.

He was born July 16, 1925, in Germany, the son of Adolph and Adele' Ellenberger.

The family immigrated to the United States in 1926, settling in Los Angeles, Calif.

In December 1966, he married Alice Lee Alexander in Orange County, Calif.

He was a photographer, jewelry designer, business owner and tool and die maker. He was a World War II Navy veteran and retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1989.

He was a former member of Toastmasters, Carbide Engineers and the past president of the Delvers Gem and Mineral Society.

Surviving are his wife, Alice Ellenberger of the home; daughters, Christine Mason of Medford, Ore., Alice Frederick of Shawnee, Barbara Howe of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Kay Griffin of Winslow, Ark.; son, Wayne Griffin of Enid; twin brother, Albert Ellenberger of Sun City, Ariz.; sister, Linda Jackson of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends; and friend, Lizzie.

A memorial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.

Erdis Elvis Fowler
Erdis Elvis Fowler, 73, Meeker, died Thursday at a local hospital.

He was born June 4, 1930, in rural Meeker, the son of Johnny Elva and Hazel (Martin) Fowler.

While a teenager, he was baptized.

He married Mildred Winter on Aug. 28, 1948, in Meeker. He was a dairy farmer for many years and also operated Fowler's Used Cars for several years. He later worked for Meeker Schools as a bus driver and in maintenance until ill health forced his retirement.

His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mildred of Meeker; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Jacque Fowler, Fordyce, Ark., and Darrell Fowler of Meeker; daughter and son-in-law, Gayla and Ray Smith, Meeker; former daughter-in-law, Debbie Hammons, Macomb; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joanne Fowler, Shawnee; grandchildren and spouses, Michelle and Bryan Underwood, Shawnee, Curtis and Misti Smith, Wilburton, Raye Dawn Smith and Rachelle Smith, Meeker, Randy and Jeanna Fowler, Meeker, Stephen Fowler, Shawnee; stepgrandchildren, Danny Smith and Tommy Smith, Woodward, Janet Jackson of Springfield, Mo., and Trista of Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and aunt, Louella Brown of Prague.

Viewing and visitation will be at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Meeker until noon today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Assembly of God Church in Meeker with the Rev. Charles Pearcy officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Kerri Frances Schweizerhof
Kerri Frances Schweizerhof, Shawnee native and career businesswoman, died July 3 at a local nursing home.

The 65-year-old Schweizerhof was born in Shawnee on March 11, 1938, to William A. and Nina (Parker) Schweizerhof.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1956, when she started working for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance Company. This was the beginning of more than 40 years working in insurance. She worked for various companies throughout Oklahoma and Texas during her career.

Schweizerhof was a Certified Professional Insurance Women and a Certified Professional Insurance Underwriter. She also was a member of the NAIW (National Association of Insurance Women) and the IWOC (Insurance Women of Oklahoma City). She served in various roles in these organizations, including chairwoman of many committees at the state, regional and national level. She also served two terms as the president of the NAIW of Houston.

She was preceeded in death by her mother and father; one brother, Jeffrey P. Schweizerhof; and one niece, Melissa K. Schweizerhof.

Surviving are her brothers, Jim Schweizerhof of Houston and Jerry and wife Reba Schweizerhof of Norman; her sisters, Kirby Griner and husband Dave of Shawnee; Dorothy Phillips and husband Charles of Shawnee; Karen Cox and husband Ron of Oklahoma City; and Mary Hathcock and husband Pat of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Vaughnda Mooreman of Burkburnett, Texas. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the NAIW Education Foundation, 5310 E. 31st Suite 302, Tulsa, OK, 74135.

Robert Clay Liddell
Lifetime Shawnee resident Robert "Robby" Clay Liddell, 37, died Wednesday in Alva.

He was born May 28, 1966, in Oklahoma City to Richard Don and Betty Liddell. He graduated from Shawnee High School.

On Aug. 27, 1988, he married Leslie Bluejacket in Oklahoma City.

He was a member of Fresh Fire Outreach Center.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Leslie Liddell, of the home; a daughter, Ashley Liddell, of the home; three sons, Landon Liddell, Seth Liddell and Noah Liddell, all of the home; his parents, Dick and Betty Liddell; a sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Kelly Rose of Norman; a nephew and three nieces; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Becky Bluejacket of Blanchard.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Freewill Baptist Church, 2601 24th Ave. SE and SH 9 in Norman. Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph Wilkes and the Rev. Joe Grizzle. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service, Shawnee.

GLADYCE MARTIN YOUNG
Gladyce Martin Young, age 90, of Shawnee, OK died peacefully at the Shawnee Care Center. Gladyce had been ill for the past year.

Gladyce was bom August 3, 1912 in Maud, OK. She was bom to William Calvin Martin and Grace Bodkin Martin.

Gladyce attended school in Maud, OK. She worked as a bookkeeper for Modern Motors until she married Jack Young, also of Maud, on February 15, 1934.

For a number of years after their daughter Jacqueline and son Steve were bom she was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening and making ceramics while Jack operated the Cities Service Station in Maud. Gladyce was a very active member of the Maud Round Up Club and helped organize many fun Round Up Club parades and barbecue dinners.

Jack & Gladyce moved to Shawnee in 1961 where they operated Cities Service Oil Co. and later Vicker's Oil Co. They formed their own company, Young Oil Co. and Gladyce was once more a bookkeeper. In 1972 they moved to Oklahoma City where Jack worked for Hudson Oil Co.

They were both very active in their church, Baptist Temple. They belonged to The Joy Singers and the Temple Pillars Bible Study Group. They both participated in the monthly food distribution from Baptist Temple.

They returned to Shawnee in 1998 where Gladyce was one again a member of the North Rock Creek Home Extension Club.

Gladyce was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her mother Grace and father William as well as her sisters, Leta Davis, Opal Hilton and Maggie Thrailkill and her brother Curtis Martin.

She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline and her husband Kip Roberts, her son Steve and his companion Josianne Bozeman, grandchildren Scott Strozier and wife Donna of Burbank, CA, Michelle Strozier of Shawnee, Brett Young of Tulsa and J.C. Young of Wellston, great grandchildren Nichole Rawls, Josh Rawls, Shelby Young and Tilson Young all of Shawnee. She is also survived by her very special nieces Jan and husband Charles Johnson, Anita Mae Lockwood and Sue Baucom and her nephews Monte Joe Thrailkill and wife Carolyn, Gary Thrailkill and wife Joan, John Sleeper and wife Agnes, Jack Sleeper and wife Tess and a sister-in-law Pauline Young Sleeper.

Services are Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee under the direction of Walker Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Shawnee or to Baptist Temple, Oklahoma City, OK.

All family and friends are invited to come by Jacqueline's house located at 2129 N. Beard for refreshments and fellowship following the service.

Demah F. Parsons
Demah F. Parsons, 91, of Midwest City died Monday.

Survivors include two daughters, Allene Peck of Midwest City and Marlene Crisp; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Carol Parsons of McLoud; one daughter-in-law, Dee Parsons of Midwest City; one sister, Marie Newton of Tulsa; two sister-in-laws, Jewell Titsworth of Shawnee and Opal Warden of Prague; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Paylor Funeral Home Chapel of Midwest City. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. at the Prague Cemetery in Prague.

L.J. "Scotty" Newton
L.J. "Scotty" Newton, 68, Shawnee, died Monday at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Rome, N.Y., to John W. and Margaret Louise (Griffin) Newton. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in Rome, N.Y., and attended Cameron College in Lawton. He later attended Oklahoma Baptist University.

He was a minister at the Paradise Valley Baptist Church in Lawton, Del View in Del City, West Side Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, Eisenhour Road in San Antonio, Texas, and the First Baptist Church in Prague.

He married Betty Mincey on Sept. 1, 1951, in Lawton. He served three years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and had been a Shawnee resident since June 1990.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Rosaland Lolo.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Newton, of the home; four children, Sherry and Fred Helton of Kokomo, Ind., Cathy Newton of Shawnee, L.J. Scott II and Tricia Newton of Claremore, and Daniel T. and Julie Newton of Edmond; five grandchildren, David and Chris Helton and Ashley, Madison and Caleb Newton; three great-grandchildren, Bryndon and Brooklyn Helton and Emma Helton; one brother, Timothy Newton of Rome, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Chaffin officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

The family has designated The Fall Creek Campaign office, care of For the Sake of the Call, 3800 N. May, Oklahoma City, OK 73112, as appropriate for memorials.

Clifford H. Massie
Clifford Herbert Massie, 89, died Wednesday in Stroud.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; five sons and four daughters-in-law, John and Cathy Massie of Spring, Texas; Clifford Jr. and Tina Massie of Reno, Nev., John W. and Linda Massie of Louisville, Ky., Timothy and Jennifer Massie of Albany, N.Y. and Thomas Massie of Castle Rock, Colo.; three daughters, Margaret Lane of Selah, Wash., Linda Massie of Carson City, Nev., and Jolene Walker of Port Ritchie, Fla.; one sister, Irene Turnbull of Hutchinson, Kan., nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and many friends and relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ of Stroud with Charles Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Hands Hospice, 313 N. 4th Ave., Stroud, OK, 74079.

Vernon Eugene Mullen
Seminole resident Vernon Eugene Mullen died Friday in Seminole at the age of 88.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Mullen of Seminole, David Mullen of Blanchard and Paul Mullen of Stillwater; brothers, Ray Mullen of Sun City, Ariz., and Clarence Mullen of Owasso; friend Gwyn White of Seminole; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole, the Rev. Russell Vickers officiating.

Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Service is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Roma Lee Stover
Roma Lee Stover, 80, of Purcell and formerly of Wanette, died Friday at a Purcell care center.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Gary Barger of Purcell; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Vickey Stover of Wanette; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Servicewill be 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Wanette with the Rev. Carroll Milner officiating.

Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.
