Charles Lawrence Ticknor
Charles Lawrence "Big Larry" Ticknor of Shawnee died Thursday, July 24, in Shawnee. He was 64.

He was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Topeka, Kan., to Kenneth Lyman and Mary Lee (Jones) Ticknor.

He was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University for two years. He served with the Army National Guard Military Police Reserve for three years.

He married Sylvia Sydney Flint on July 15, 1961, in Agra. They recently celebrated their 42nd anniversary.

Ticknor worked for Sears Senack Shoe Company as the commission sales manager until his retirement in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Nancy Ticknor and Pearl Brownell; aunt, Ruth Longstaff, and uncle, Donald Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Ticknor, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Melody Ticknor of Shawnee; parents, Kenneth Lyman and Mary Lee Ticknor of Topeka; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Judy Ticknor; grandchildren, Katie Ticknor, Justin Ticknor and Chelsie Ticknor, and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.

Lula Mae Harjo Kaney
Seminole resident Lula Mae Harjo Kaney, 75, died Friday, July 25, at Integris Hospital of Oklahoma City.

Survivors include two daughters, Elmina Kaney Felson and Faye Kaney Coody, both of Seminole; two sons, Leonard Kaney and James Kaney Jr., both of Seminole; a brother, Charlie D. Harjo of Seminole; brother-in-law, Edmond Harjo of Ada, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sand Creek Eufaula Church of Wewoka with the Rev. Houston Tiger and the Rev. Edward Bear officiating. Burial will follow at High Springs Cemetery of Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ida (Darr) Harrelson
Seminole resident Ida "Louise" (Darr) Harrelson, 66, died Friday, July 25, at Seminole Medical Center.

Survivors include her parents, Amel and Lueetta Darr of Seminole; her husband, Robert Nathan "Bobby" Harrelson of Shawnee; two daughters, Martha Ann Allen of Norman and Sharon Louise Stanberry of Seminole; a brother, Carl Eugene Darr of Seminole, seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Dr. Sam Matthews and the Rev. Dale Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Seminole.

Walsa J. Geyer
Tecumseh resident Walsa J. Geyer, 81, died Saturday, July 26, in Tecumseh.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Tecumseh. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Helen F. (Cooley) Stewart
Helen F. (Cooley) Stewart, 79, of Atoka died Friday in Shawnee.

She was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Seminole County, the daughter of John and Mary (Buttrum) Cooley.

She was a housewife. She married Lee Stewart on Jan. 22, 1938, in Seminole County. She was a member of the Farris Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Geneva Lee Stewart; two sisters, Elsie Heard and Hattie Baker; and a brother, Bill Cooley.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Doyle Roberts of Atoka; a granddaughter, Janelle Gatz and husband Don of Meeker; a grandson, John Roberts of Shawnee; a great-granddaughter, Chestney Lee Wiley of Meeker; three great-grandsons, Marshal Dillon Gatz, Don Alan Gatz and Troy Dustin Gatz, all of Meeker; a special sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

A service was held Monday at Atoka Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Morris and the Rev. Herb Wharton officiating. Burial was in Butler Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Atoka Funeral Home.

Lela Roberta (Earles) Wimberly
Lela Roberta (Earles) Wimberly, 91, of Seminole died Sunday.

Survivors include her sister, Lucille Sarah Owen of Oklahoma City; four nieces; and three nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Tate and the Rev. Jess Powers officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Charles W. Thompson
Charles W. Thompson, 69, died Saturday after a long battle with liver disease.

He was born April 6, 1933, in Dale to Paul Faye and Minnie Bell Thompson.

He joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea. In 1954, he went to work at Tinker AFB as an aircraft electrician, retiring in December 1987 after 34 years.

Preceding him in death were his father and one brother, Johnny.

Surviving are his wife, Jean; his mother, Minnie Thompson of Dale; four daughters and spouses, Charlotte and Ed Howard of Oklahoma City, Paula Cohlemia of Enid, Jackie and Robert Sanders of Oklahoma City and Lynnice and Steve Hamlin of Oklahoma City; two sons, Rebel Thompson of Ogden, Kan., and Kelly Harris of Del City; two brothers, Glenn Thompson and Loyd Thompson, both of Dale; two sisters, Janie Brown of Dale and Laverne Barker of McLoud; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

Services were Monday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.

Fannie Lenore Bruner
Seminole resident Fannie Lenore (Brown) Bruner, 84, died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Brennan of Moore, Norma Tiger, Billie Earlene Tiger and Roberta "Bertie" Coon, all of Seminole; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Green Hill Memorial Cemetery in Sapulpa with the Rev. Carol Walker, the Rev. Joe Coon and her nephew, Dewayne Tiger, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Mildred E. Miles
Mildred E. Miles, 86, of Shawnee died Monday at a local hospital. Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Donald Gordon Goree
Former Shawnee resident Donald Gordon Goree of Newalla died Saturday, July 26, at the age of 71.

He was born July 24, 1932, in Shawnee, to John B. Gordon Goree and Vera Aline (Mathers) Goree.

Before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1952, he attended Oklahoma Baptist University and The University of Oklahoma.

In May 1955, he married Helen LaDean Love. The two were married 47 years and reared three daughters.

Goree retired from the Air Force in 1973, after 21 years of active duty. Upon retirement, he was ranked chief master sergeant.

In 1979, he received a BBA from UTSA, then returned to Oklahoma. In 1989, he retired from state service. After his retirement, the couple moved to Newalla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in May 2002.

He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Charlene Goree Williams of Tennessee; his daughters, Cheryl Anderson and Elizabeth Jackson of San Antonio and Margaret Anderson of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Kristen Jackson, Lance Cpl. Donald Jackson and Kevin, Michael and Cynthia Anderson; and his cousin, Mrs. Ruthanne Mathers Woodward of Sonora, Mexico.

Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. today and Friday. A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th St., Del City. A gravside service with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. in the Wetumka Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Glen Dale Clark
Shawnee resident Glen Dale Clark died Monday in Shawnee at the age of 59.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home; three daughters, Shannon Ladale Haynes, Laurie Ann Clark and Kimberly Jim Clark, all of Shawnee; one son, Fred Lee Clark of Shawnee; 15 grandchildren, one sister, Joan Russell of Muldrow; one brother, James Vann Clark of Muldrow; and more than 20 foster children.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. today at the Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today in Long Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Mitchell officiating.

Robert Franklin Bemo
Robert Franklin Bemo of Cromwell died Monday at the age of 81.

He is survived by his wife Nell Marie Bemo of the home; four children, Lawanda Abraham of Norman, Glessie Gene Tharp of Norman, Ronnie Bemo of Shawnee and Robert "Bob" Bemo Jr. of Edmond; two adopted sons, Roland Roberts of Seminole and Bruce Fish of the home; six stepchildren, Donna McNac of Oklahoma City, Alex Fish Jr. of Tecumseh, Laquita Roberts of Cromwell, Laverna Kionute of Binger, John Fish of Oklahoma City and Donnell Fish of the home; two sisters, Rena Gonzales of Denver, Colo., and Elvina Ortega; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A wake will be held 8 p.m. today at the High Springs Baptist Church, Konawa. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at High Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Issac Foster and the Rev. Dorsey Neo officiating. Burial will follow at High Springs Baptist Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Stout-Phillip Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Luther Raymond Smith
Luther Raymond Smith,74, died Monday at his home in Tecumseh.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; two sons, Jesse Smith of Shawnee and Luther Smith Jr. of the home; two daughters, Dorothy Foshee of Paragould, Ark., and Rebecca Armstrong of the home; two sisters, Katherine Ledlow of Oklahoma City and Edna Batson of Midwest City; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Robert Simmons Funeral Home in Henryetta. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.

Carolyn Cross
Former Seminole resident Carolyn Cross of Oklahoma City died Monday in Oklahoma City at the age of 59.

She is survived by her daughter, Kesha Mae Cross of Oklahoma City; her son and daughter-in-law, Bart and LeeAnn Cross of Seminole; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gerald and Jan Goodnight of Newcastle, Mike and Sue Goodnight of Saint Louis, Okla., John Timothy Goodnight of Saint Louis and Thomas Kevin Goodnight of Saint Louis; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Helen Mae Bowles
Helen Mae Bowles of Shawnee died Tuesday at a Prague care center. She was 78.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond of Sulphur; four daughters and one son-in-law, Debra Bowles, Beth Ann Bowles and Nancy Rutherford, all of Seminole, and Mary and Travis Johnson of Shawnee; one brother, Charles Belveal of Exetor, Mo.; four sisters, Virginia Cherry of Edmond, Etta Nelson of Seminole, Charlene Nelson of Los Lunas, N.M., and Barbara Deal of Antlers; and four grandchildren.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Cline officiating. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Judy A. Wallis
Judy A. Wallis of McLoud died Tuesday.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at McLoud First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Audre L. Henry
Audre L. Henry, 67, of El Sobrante, Calif., died Sunday at a California hospital.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Further information is pending with Walker Funeral Service.

Janet Edmonds
Meeker resident Janet Edmonds died Tuesday in Vandalia, Ill., at the age of 47.

Survivors include her parents, Percy and Rosa Sturm of Meeker; grandparents, Herbert and Flossie Baker of Oklahoma City; brother, Ricky Sturm of Prague; five sisters, Jackie Brakefield of Prague, Vickey Hazelwood of Shawnee, Brenda McFarland of Meeker, Patty Smith of Gatesville, Texas, and Iona Ryerson of Prague; stepsons, Ricky Edmonds and Perry Edmonds, both of Meeker; and three step-grandchildren.

Graveside services are pending with Vondel Smith Mortuary in Oklahoma City.

Velma L. Weston Coffman
Velma L. Weston Coffman died Wednesday at her home in Shawnee. She was 89.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church.
