Virginia Diana Hall
Virginia Diana Hall, 99, died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

She was born Dec. 9, 1902, in Memphis, Tenn., to William Marion and Frances Elizabeth (Butler) Fitzgerald.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, and until the last year of her life, she was an active member of Order of the Eastern Star, serving as chaplain. She was a seamstress for the public and made a number of Czech costumes, some of which are in the Prague museum. She operated Tot Shop, selling clothes she made.

Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Valmer F. Hall; her parents, two sisters, three brothers, a son, one granddaughter, a grandson-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Glen Kinzey of the home and Frances and Harry Bailey of Oklahoma City; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald B. and Carleeta Smith of Portland, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Rose Smith of Mesquite, Texas; a sister, Florence McCoy of St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Cora Fitzgerald of Northern California; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services were held Tuesday under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Donald Monroe
Donald Monroe, 44, of Le Mars, Iowa, died July 19 in Sioux, City, Iowa.

He was born June 18, 1958, in Sioux City to Arlin and Mary (Hummel) Monroe.

He graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1976. After graduation he entered the United States Army for four years.

He moved to Shawnee after his discharge from the service. He was a BFI truck driver for 14 years in Shawnee.

He moved to Le Mars in December 2000 and worked for R and K Trucking of Remsen and Van Wyk Trucking of Sheldon as a long-haul driver.

Survivors include his parents, Arlin and Mary Monroe of Rock Rapids, Iowa; a son, Mathew Monroe of Scottsbluff, Neb.; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Jean Monroe of Marion, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Crosser and Jerry of Tilden, Neb.; Garrett Weaver and Doug of Omaha, Neb.; an aunt, Susan Trobaugh of Le Mars, and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Services were in Le Mars, Iowa, with Matt Wentz officiating. Burial was Aug. 2 in Westfield, Iowa. Arrangements were under the direction of Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars, Iowa.

Robert Lewis
Shawnee resident Robert "Bob" Lewis, 74, died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Bennington, Okla., to W.A. "Bud" Lewis and Ava Francis (Caughy) Lewis. He attended school in the Bennington and Jackson communities. He was a retired electrician, working for L.D. Hallman for eight years, the IBEW Union, Local No. 1141, for 20 years, and as a truck driver for Rocket Freight Lines for three years.

He was married to Martha "Markee" Lee Stephenson. After her death, he married Shirley Lewis in Durant on Nov. 7, 1998.

Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and attained the rank of staff sergeant.

He had lived in the Shawnee area since 1970. He was a 20-year member of the IBEW, Local No. 1141. He was member of the Pentecostal faith and had served as a scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Albert Lewis, Audra Lewis, his twin L.B. Lewis, Floyd Lewis and Lloyd Lewis; three sisters, Clare, Gerthy and Bertha.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lewis, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby Lewis of Chandler, Billy and Cherie Lewis of Meeker; stepchildren, Joe Parker of Shawnee, Robert and Gail Parker of Thomas, Tony and Peggy Parker of Yukon, Patti and David Bade of Shawnee; four grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Wanda Lewis of Calera, and many other relatives.

Graveside service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park Trinity Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Akin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Ralph Dewayne Porter
Ralph Dewayne Porter, 48, of Tecumseh died Sunday in Shawnee.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Curtis Wayne Bailey
Curtis Wayne Bailey, 54, died Sunday in Lone Wolf.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Nancy Bonner Bailey, of the home; a daughter, Andrea, of Elk City; a son, Matthew, of the home; his father, Art Bailey, Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Jody Cook of Moore; his mother-in-law, Lillie Bonner, Shawnee; a sister-in-law, Dolores Christian, of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Charlyn and Johnny Johnson of Oklahoma City; Brian Bonner of Tecumseh; Joe and Barbara Bonner of Oklahoma City and Bill and Sue Bonner of Shawnee, and many other relatives.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the People's Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf. Burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the First Christian Church of Lone Wolf.

Willie S. Neiman
Willie S. Neiman of Tecumseh died Saturday at his residence in Tecumseh. He was 81.

He was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Stigler to Herman Shrell Neiman and Jessie Alma (Akins) Neiman.

He worked as a plant engineer in steel fabrication construction and maintenance. He worked for about 15 years with W&W Steel Company. He later worked for Taylor Tool Company for about five years before his retirement in 1985.

He was married to Gale LaDean Woolley on Aug. 16, 1946, in Norman.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving for more than two years as a subtender, torpedoman and electrician.

He was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church of Oklahoma City and Masonic Lodge No. 36 of Oklahoma City. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He had lived in the Shawnee and Tecumseh area since 1985.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Barbara Joy Neiman of Branson, Mo.; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debra Neiman of Leesville, La.; three sisters, Marie Larimore, Rena Mae Taylor and Cecil Ray Neiman; brother and sister-in-law, Edward Norvell Neiman and Sharon of California, and two grandchildren, William Jeffrey Neiman of Ada and Jennifer Neiman Bills of Shreveport, La.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one brother, Francis Leon Neiman.

Graveside service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8801 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating.

Viewing is today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel of Shawnee. The casket will not be open at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shawnee.

John Harvey Davis
John Harvey Davis, 69, of Shawnee died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Fayette, Ark., the son of Dell and Dorothy Davis. Davis was raised in Alabama and was the owner-operator of Davis Roofing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Shawnee in the early 1950s and was a member of the Johnson Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Alene Davis, Earnest and Beverly Davis, Harvey and Sandie Davis, all of Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Charles Crane of Tecumseh; a daughter, Charlotte Duncan of Tecumseh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Loyd and Nellie Davis, George and Barbara Davis, Howard and Sandy Davis, Caroll and Christy Davis, Gary and Pat Davis, all of Shawnee; Hubert and Debbie Davis, Charles and Rena Davis, all of Marietta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Wayne Hammons, Seminole, Wilienell and Chalmer Tidwell of Alabama, and Loudale and Cecil Bailey of Texas; companion, Jackie Meyer of Shawnee; former wife, Frances Plunkett of Shawnee; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Tecumseh cemeterywith the Rev. Charles Higgins officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Delia S. Castellow
Delia S. (Gillham) Castellow of Shawnee died Aug. 19 at a local hospital. She was 82.

She was born Jan. 22, 1921, in Wolf, to Aaron and Epsie Gillham.

She attended East Central College in Ada for two years and was employed at Sylvania from 1951 to 1962.

She married Paul Castellow on Aug. 1, 1969.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Queenie Sullivan; and four brothers, Coy, Lonnie, Mack and Omar Gillham.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Shawnee; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Paulette and Al Chambers of Shawnee and Doris and Chuck Melot of Tecumseh; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and friend, Virginia Hopkins.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee.

Julia Ann Arthur
Julia "Judy" Ann Arthur, 52, of McLoud died Aug. 19 at a local hospital.

She was born Aug. 24, 1950, in Shawnee. She was the daughter of JoAnn and the late PeeWee Kubiak of Oklahoma City, and Al Smith of Shawnee.

She attended Shawnee High School and also studied in Taylorville, Ill. She attended beauty college in Shawnee.

She lived in Shawnee for 20 years. She is a former employee of Love's at the McLoud exit and Interstate 40 and Wal-Mart in Midwest City.

She was married to Bobby Arthur and John Logan. She also had a longtime friend and companion, Paul Hufstedler.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, PeeWee Kubiak; grandmothers, Laura Pauline Smith and Lorene Smith; grandfathers, Frank Smith and Joe Weaver; and great-grandparents, Texas Joe and Murtle Stevens.

She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Ford of Edmond; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Sterling and Sarah Arthur of Shawnee and Bradley Arthur of the home; mother, JoAnn Kubiak of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Cody and Kirsten Roberts and Colton Ford and Keagan Arthur; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Teresa and Jim Martin of Shawnee, Sherri and Carl Straka, Terri Lucy and Carla and Sammy Dennis, all of McLoud; six nieces; seven nephews; one great-niece; three great-nephews; and other family members and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. The family will meet with friends and family in the community room at Walker Funeral Service following the service.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Bill Roberts
Bill "Paw Paw" Roberts of Macomb died Aug. 18 in Norman at the age of 74.

He was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Bradley, to Bernie Abey "Pop" and Birtie (Tullis) Roberts.

He lived in Tribbey, Macomb and Ardmore. He moved back to Macomb in 1974, after spending 15 years in Oklahoma City.

He married Jeri Roberts on June 14, 1950. She died on July 31, 1989. He married Anita Malone June 2, 1990.

Roberts owned and operated several service stations in Oklahoma City. He owned and operated Bill's Sand and Gravel for nine years. Upon his return to Macomb, he worked for the school system for 11 years as both a bus driver and janitor. He retired from those positions in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donny Roberts; and five sisters, Edith Irene Roberts, Lorene Miller, Betty Mitchell, Geneva Boydston and Marie Jacobs.

He is survived by his wife, Anita, of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Billy and Jill Roberts and Ken Roberts, all of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Sherry Albee of Macomb; five grandsons, Chad and his wife, Nicole, Albee, Joey Roberts, Chris Roberts, Bradley Roberts and Gregory Roberts; one great-grandson, Caleb Albee; four brothers, A.B. Roberts of Ardmore, Benny Roberts of Sentinel, Bobby Roberts of Greyson, Ga., and Larry Roberts of Bethany; one sister, Dorothy Glover of Ardmore; and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh. Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Garner officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Cooper Funeral Service.

Michael A. Miller
Michael Allen Miller of Shawnee died Aug. 19 at a local hospital at the age of 56.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service.

Henry Hicks Sr.
Henry Hicks Sr., 82, of Okmulgee died Aug. 19 in Shawnee.

He was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Henryetta, to Joe and Ella (Coker) Hicks.

Hicks was a truck driver, who served in the U.S. Army.

He married Bernice Simmons on July 14, 1950.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Larry Bruce Hicks; one daughter, Ailene Harjo; and one brother, Chief Hicks.

He is survived by seven children and their spouses, Georgia and Raymond Starr of Shawnee, Henry Jr. and Joeann Hicks of Little, Charlie Joe and Lois Hicks of Okmulgee, Naomi Elaine Hicks of Shawnee and Penny Hicks, Gail and Kenny Lindsey and Brian Hicks, all of Oklahoma City; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Red Hicks of Tulsa and George and Houston Hicks of Okmulgee; and other relatives.

A wake will be held 6:30 p.m. today at Gaskill Funeral Chapel in Shawnee. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel with the Rev. Bill Hobia officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Service.
