Hildegard Charlotte Laessig
Hildegard Charlotte Viglahn Laessig, 89, died Aug. 22 in a Killeen, Texas, nursing home.

She was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Berlin, Germany, where she was reared and educated.

She married Dr. Robert O. Laessig in August 1937 in Berlin. Soon after their marriage, she and her husband were called as missionaries for the Germany Baptist Church in Cameroon, Africa. There, her two oldest children, Erika and Peter, were born.

As German nationals, in 1941, the entire family was interred in a POW camp in Jamaica, British West Indies, by the British. Her son, Martin, was born in Jamaica. Upon their release in 1947, they were sponsored by missionaries from Oklahoma to enter the United States

She was a longtime member of University Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Her husband and sister, Edith Hochst, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her two sons, K. Peter Laessig and wife Marilyn of Harker Heights, Texas, and Martin Laessig of Killeen, Texas; and daughter Erika Loseman and husband Bob of Brea, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dr. Robert O. Laessig Memorial Scholarship Fund at OBU in Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Burial will follow in the University Garden with the Rev. Bob Searle officiating.

Melvin B. Myers
Melvin B. Myers, 85, Seminole, died Aug. 23 in Oklahoma City.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Belle Myers of Seminole; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Myers of Norman and Leonard and Nancy Myers of Oklahoma City; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Roy Jaggers of Tulsa; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Wadena Raines
Wadena Raines, 85, Shawnee, died Aug. 23 at a Cushing hospital. Services are pending with Walker Funeral Service.

Bobby D. Ross
Bobby Dewayne Ross, 48, Meeker, died Aug. 23. Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Helen E. Taylor
Helen E. Taylor, 94, of Shawnee died Saturday in Tecumseh.

She was born Dec. 20, 1907, in Plattsmouth, Neb., to Vert B. and Myrtle (Wagner) Dutton. She was raised in Gravity, Iowa, and later lived in Bartlett, Iowa.

She married Clark Taylor on Jan. 2, 1923, in Bartlett, Iowa, and moved to the Shawnee area in 1938.

She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Canasta Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 3, 1983; her parents; son, Robert Taylor; grandson, Charles Hill; three brothers, Darrell Dutton, Russell Dutton and Ronald Dutton; three great-granddaughters, Courtney Taylor and twins Sidney and Tatum Garner.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, John Taylor of Eufaula, Kevin and Patricia Taylor of Shawnee, Jack Taylor of Tecumseh and Kenneth "Butch" and Phyllis Taylor of Shawnee; one brother, Harold Dutton of Shawnee; one sister, Maxine Davis of Tecumseh; 10 grandchildren, Doris Rouse, Rick Dinger, Patty Nash, Shelley Roberts, Teresa Daugherty, Vicki Marks, Rebecca Jarrett, Kenneth Taylor Jr., David Taylor and Steve Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Jeff Burress and the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of the Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

The family has designated Hospice of Shawnee as appropriate for memorials.

Mary Louise Woodward
Mary Louise Woodward, 71, of Shawnee died Sunday at a local hospital.

She was born to Mary Mac Molina on July 2, 1931, in Little Axe and attended St. Benedict School in Shawnee. She spent her teen years in San Francisco.

She worked at the Hollywood Supper Club as a waitress.

In 1968, she married Emmett "Woody" Woodward.

She was a member of the Absentee Shawnee tribe, AST Elders Council, AST Tax Commission, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, AST beadery classes and AST elders vacation trips.

She moved from Junction City, Kan., to Shawnee in 1986.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Eli and John Molina; one sister, Josey Molina; and two children, Micheal Webb and Maryann Webb.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary T. Jacobs of Kansas; four sons, Paul Kenneth Webb of Oregon, Charles Kenneth Webb of Oregon, Tony "Emo" Emmett Woodward of Oklahoma, and Samuel Lee Woodward of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tiffanie Marie Jacobs, Blake Woodward and Justin Woodward; great-grandchildren, Anfernee Williams, Kyree "Boo" Williams, Abryana "Stink" Williams; stepchildren, Kenny "Woody" Woodward, Mary Lou Woodward; and stepgrandchildren, Alison Woodward and Kimber Woodward.

Viewing will be until 8:30 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home. A wake service is scheduled from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday at Thunderbird Casino. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Arthur Troy Sikes
Arthur Troy "Art" Sikes, 67, of Prague died Saturday in Tulsa.

He was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Shreveport, La., to Troy A. and Eloise (Hough) Sikes.

He graduated from North Little Rock High School, and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1957 with a degree in political science.

He served two years overseas with the U.S. Army and on his discharge in 1960 went to work at Tinker Air Force Base, where he was employed until 1991.

He married Judith Nosalek in Prague on Oct. 17, 1963. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prague.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mary Beth Byrne.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Sikes, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marla Sikes of Moore; one daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Phillip Jackson of Earlsboro; mother-in-law, Helen Nosalek of Branson, Mo.; one son-in-law, James Byrne of Laurel, Md; brother-in-law and his wife, Dan and Leia Nosalek of Gore; six grandchildren, Tyler Sikes, Allie Sikes, Harrison Sikes, Sarah Sikes, Emily Jackson and Kendra Jackson.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will follow in Prague Cemetery.

Zoey Sierra Hyde-Brown
Zoey Sierra Hyde-Brown was born and died Saturday in Cushing.

Survivors include her parents, Brandon Lee Brown and Tabatha Nicole Hyde of Stroud; maternal grandmother, Regina Tanner of Stroud; maternal grandfather, Carl Hyde of Davenport; paternal grandparents, Duke and Angie McElroy of Stroud; maternal great-grandfather, Roy Gunter of Cushing and Aubrey and Lodena Hyde of Davenport; paternal great-grandfather, Charles Spoon of Davenport; paternal great-grandmother, Bernice Spoon of Meeker; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Davenport Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud.

Garry Lane Wade
Garry Lane Wade, 69, of Tecumseh died Sunday in Tecumseh.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Eula Lavena Smith
Eula Lavena Smith, 80, of Seminole died Sunday at a Tecumseh nursing home.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Don Smith of Seminole and Larry Smith of Dover; four daughters, Wanda Wagstaff of Shawnee, Carolyn Kolander of Seminole, Judy Smith of Seminole and Pat Moore of North Richland Hills, Texas; one sister, Daisy Davis of Wewoka; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

George Hamilton White
George Hamilton White, 41, of Fairfield, Texas, died Thursday in Henderson, Texas.

Survivors include his father, Clovis White of Seminole; his wife, Debbie White, of the home; two sons, Lionel Jason White and Ethan Phillip White; a stepson, J.D. Crawford; and four brothers, Greg White, Troy White, Trent White and Nickolas White, all of Seminole.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Carol Wayne Harris
Carol Wayne "Chub" Harris, 57, of Meeker died Thursday at his home.

He was born July 19, 1945, in Meeker, the son of Thomas P. and Lydia Dica (Green) Harris.

Harris was a lifelong Meeker area resident and a member of the Aydelotte Baptist Church. He owned and operated the Prague Locker Plant.

He married Fay Helton on June 30, 1969, in Gainesville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Harris, of the home; two stepsons, Mike Haney and Rickey Haney, both of Oklahoma City; three stepgrandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Sarah; four brothers, Jack Harris of Shawnee, Ed Harris of Meeker, John Harris of Tecumseh, Carl Harris of Ada and Sammy Harris of Choctaw; and four sisters, Doris Johnson of Shawnee, Iva Rimer of Tecumseh, Sue Hartwell of Davis and Shirley Rimer of Meeker.

Viewing and visitation will be at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home chapel in Meeker until noon Saturday. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Barbara June Warrior
Barbara June Warrior, 55, of Stroud died Wednesday in Edmond.

Survivors include three brothers, Morris G. Warrior of Stroud, Dean R. Tartsah of Bristow and Bert Samqua of Florida; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Antowine and Kathy Warrior of Clinton, Mass., and Thomas and Barbara Warrior of Stroud; a sister, Chenenia LaDeaux of Stroud; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Sac and Fox tribal wake will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sac and Fox Community Center in Stroud with the Rev. Darrell Robinson officiating. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Sunday at the Sac and Fox Community Center with the Rev. Thomas Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Sac and Fox cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

Robert O. Parsley
Robert O. Parsley, 75, of Oklahoma City died Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Parsley; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Earnest C. and Opal Parsley of Florida, Foster and Evelyn Parsley of Ohio, Garland and Rita Parsley of Florida, Ralph and Fay Parsley of West Virginia, and Carl and Inis Parsley of West Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline an Noah Webb of Kentucky; and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel with burial following at Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.

Roy F. Anderson
Roy F. Anderson, 80, of Shawnee died Wednesday at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Perkins, the son of Floyd A. Anderson and Lola Faye (Rider) Anderson.

Anderson grew up in Agra, attending Agra Public schools. He worked as a driver for Coca Cola in Cushing. Later, he worked for Oklahoma State University as a building engineer for 10 years, retiring in 1987.

He married Betty Jean Kuehner in Cushing on Oct. 6, 1946. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II in Italy. He was among the first Americans to enter Vienna as a member of Gen. Mark W. Clark's U.S. Forces in Austria.

Anderson was a member of the Church of God in Cushing. He moved to Shawnee in July 2002. He also lived in Pauls Valley for two years and was a former resident of Stillwater and Cushing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Anderson, of the home; a daughter, Connie Lister of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Candice Blevins of Elmore City and Jeremy, Gabrielle, Michael and Madison Lister, all of Shawnee; five sisters; two brothers; and a great-granddaughter.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Parkland Cemetery in Agra with the Rev. Marty Grubbs officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

R. C. Ronald Eddy
R.C. Ronald Eddy, 88, of Shawnee died September 3, 2003 at a local nursing home.

He was born January 12, 1915 in Oklahoma City, OK to Edwin Herbert Eddy and Marie Hale, and was an electrician.

He married Geneva Eddy, June 5, 1989, married Jerry Eddy March 14, 1936.

Ronald was an ace-electrician and provided power for many of Shawnee¹s original homes and businesses.

Along with his first wife Jerry; he established Eddy Electric, 1520 N. Harrison. He later pioneered in the storage business, creating the Mini-Storage of Shawnee.

On June 5, 1989, after the death of Jerry, Ronald married Geneva Ransom.

Anyone that knew Ronald will remember that he showed his affection for others through his playful and mischievous spirit. no one, including himself was immune to being a target of his loving jokes or pranks.

He will always be remembered as caring, compassionate, and generous; and will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Eddy, Shawnee; Grandson Rand Eddy, OKC; Grandson Rust Eddy, Lawrence, Kansas; Great-Grandson Jess Eddy, OKC;

Great-Grandson Cole Eddy, OKC; Step Son Jack Ranson; Step daughter Janet Fedor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Eddy; Son, Daniel Eddy; Sister, Corine Bacon; Brothers, Glenn Eddy and Don Eddy.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 am at Gaskill Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.
