Woodrow Island
Woodrow Island, 82, of Seminole died Sunday at Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine (Humbly) Island of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Woodrow Island Jr. and Jami Island of Midwest City; a son, Steve Island of Seminole; a daughter and son-in-law, Verna and Cleo Hearn of Lancaster, Texas; a daughter, Shirley Williams of Seminole; a sister-in-law, Vivian Payne of Fresno, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Bobby R. Curry officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Leslie Wyatt
Leslie Wyatt, 86, Prague, died Saturday in Prague.

Wyatt was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Belmont, Okla., to Mileage and Pearl (Thomas) Wyatt.

He was a grounds superintendent for the Oklahoma City Parks Department, where he worked on the city golf courses.

After his retirement, he returned to Prague in 1979.

He married Daisy Merle Lacquement on Jan. 16, 1936, in Tecumseh.

She preceded him in death on April 25, 1982.

His parents, three brothers, one sister and one son-in-law, Ervin Jones, also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Harold "Brub" Wyatt of El Reno, and Ronald and Marci Wyatt of Wichita, Kan.; daughters and son-in-law, Norma and Ed Hubbell of Meeker, and Carrol Jones of Wichita, Kan.; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Rella Wyatt of Seminole; brother-in-law, Fred Lacquement of Wewoka; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Bob Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery.

Domenica Marie Carsten
Domenica Marie Carsten, 51, of Ada died Sept. 11 at her home.

She was born Aug. 25, 1952, in McAlester to Dominic and Lena Rigo Maffeo.

She attended grade school at St. John Catholic School and graduated from McAlester High School in 1970.

Carsten moved to this area in 1970.

She received a bachelor of science degree in science and education from East Central University in 1974.

She received a master's degree in elementary education from ECU in 1991.

She was secretary to James Elliott, who started the Public Services Program at ECU.

She later became coordinator and retired in September after 30 years.

She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada, was former president of ECU Women's Club, a patron of Act II, former board member and president of the Pontotoc County Literacy Coalition.

She was a member and past president of Ada Professional and Business Women's Club.

Carsten was preceded in death by her father, Dominic Maffeo; an aunt, Rose Cattaneo; a nephew, Joseph Maffeo; and her father-in-law, Francis Carsten.

Surviving relatives include her husband, C.W. "Chuck" Carsten, of the home; her mother, Lena Maffeo of McAlester; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeanne and Alvin Taylor of Tecumseh; four brothers and their wives, Bob and Carolyn Maffeo of Cincinnati, Ohio, John and Anita Maffeo of Cushing, Michael and Sandy Maffeo of McAlester and Frank and Diana Maffeo of McAlester; two sisters and their husbands, Katherine and Garry Baker of Byng and Mary and Tony Wheeler of Owasso; 12 nieces and nephews; three great-nephews; and many friends.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada with the Rev. Ray Ackerman officiating.

Criswell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Benson B. Qualls
Shawnee resident Benson Qualls, 85, died Monday at his home.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Further arrangements are pending.

Floyd Pool
Elmore City resident Floyd Pool, 80, died in Wynnewood Monday.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Pool; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Diane Pool of Earlsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Janna and Orbin Idleman of Noble; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Charles Warren Laughlin
Shawnee resident Charles Warren Laughlin, 72, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

Survivors include a son, Nathan Laughlin of Shawnee; four brothers, Albert Laughlin and Raymond Laughlin, both of Shawnee; Mark Laughlin of Meeker and Doug Laughlin of Harrison, Ark.; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church of Meeker with the Rev. Glen White officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

Lloyd L. LaHue
Lloyd L. LaHue, 83, of Shawnee died Tuesday at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1918, in Coweta, the son of Claude T. and Donnie A. LaHue.

LaHue graduated from Oklahoma City Central High School in 1936.

He married Loriene Reynolds on June 25, 1949, in Gainesville, Texas.

At that time, the couple lived in Shawnee.

LaHue served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He retired from OG&E on Jan. 1, 1981, following 33 years and two months of service..

He was a Golden Gloves boxer in his youth in Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loriene LaHue, on Feb. 28, 1996; a daughter, Taloah Townsend; a brother, Bill LaHue; and an infant brother, Leonard LaHue.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Ann LaHue of Shawnee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Dennis Millard of Broken Arrow and Helen LaVerne and James Armitage of Meeker; nine grandchildren, Debra Westervelt, Tiffany Gear, Scott Armitage, Matthew and Mark LaHue, Rachel Henderson, Jonathan Curley and Kevin and Mark Millard; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fairview Mausoleum with the Rev. Karen Fowler-Lindemulder officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.

Joe R. Kyle Sr.
Joe R. Kyle Sr., 94, of Macomb died Monday in Tecumseh.

He was born May 22, 1908, in Livingston, Tenn., the son of Mack and Lona (Upton) Kyle.

Kyle also had lived in Arkansas. He and his wife, Ethylene (Coats) Kyle, whom he married in 1929 in Ozark, Ark., moved to Macomb in 1929. They had lived in Macomb since.

He served as Macomb Postmaster from 1929 until 1969.

He also worked as an agent for the Santa Fe Depot.

Kyle was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Macomb Masonic Lodge No. 310 A.F. & A.M.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethylene Kyle, on March 13, 1980; his daughter and son-in-law, Joline and Bill Miracle; his parents; a sister, Velma Langford; and a brother, Leslie Kyle.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and David McGuire and Sharon and Marion Domingo; a son, Joe R. Kyle Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Lou Ann Kyle; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Sarah Miracle and David Smith; Kyle Miracle, Kirk and Trish McGuire, Carole Hook, David Kyle, Chris and Ellen Kyle, Mary and Ron McKinney, Carrie Bruce, J.T. Kyle, Sean Kyle and Kevin Kyle; a brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Adela Kyle; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home chapel with Ronald Kyle officiating.

Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Cooper Funeral Home.

L. Lloyd LaHue
L. Lloyd LaHue, 83, of Shawnee died Tuesday at his home.

Services are pending and will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Joe R. Kyle Sr.
Joe Kyle Sr., 94, of Macomb died Monday in Tecumseh.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday in Prairie View Cemetery with Ronald Kyle officiating.

Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
