Houston E. Neal
Houston E. Neal, 89, of Shawnee died Sunday at a Norman hospital.

He was born March 1, 1914, in Konawa to John Neal and Maggie (Wheeler) Neal.

He grew up in the Shawnee area and attended North Rock Creek school.

He married Thelma Lesta Qualls on Dec. 16, 1936, in Wewoka. She preceded him in death June 18, 2001.

He joined the U.S. Navy on Feb. 16, 1944, in El Reno and served until Dec. 15, 1945. He served in the Pacific theater as a boatswain's mate second class aboard the USS LST 629 out of San Francisco. He was issued the U.S. Navy Honorable Discharge Button and Honorable Service Lapel Button.

He became a superintendent in pipeline construction and managed multimillion dollar projects.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bill Frost; granddaughter, Chana Frost; a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judy Neal of Tulsa; daughter, Reba Young of Shawnee; grandchildren, Christopher Neal, Timothy Neal, Stephen Neal, Greggory Young, Justin Young and Mike Frost; 14 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.

Laura Anna Raines
Paden resident Laura Anna Raines, 80, died Sunday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include her sons, James Raines of Paden and John and wife, Mary Anne Raines of Garfield, Ark.; daughter, Linda Kennedy of Newalla; a sister, Mildred Sikes of Drumright; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague until noon Wednesday. The casket will be open at the First Baptist Church in Paden from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and will not be opened after the service.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Paden. Burial will follow in the Oak Dale Cemetery in Paden under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Ervin Allen
Ervin Allen of Chandler died Monday in Tulsa at the age of 78.

Survivors include two sons, Ervin Allen Fr. of Ben, Ore., and Steve Allen of Chandler; six daughters, Debbie Greenfield, Karen Allen, Sharon Allen, Pam Loveless and Jan Mitchell, all of Chandler, and Judy Lane of Cushing; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Keith Cole officiating.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

John Charles Grubb
John Charles "Chuck" Grubb of Tecumseh died Sunday at the age of 60.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel of Tecumseh.

Bob Davis
Wetumka resident Bob Davis, 101, died Sunday at a Wetumka hospital.

Survivors include his son Owen Davis and wife Pearl of Prague; brother, Vernie Davis of Blaire; sister, Clara Sizemore of Fort Smith, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wetumka Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Darrel Gibbs and the Rev. Kevin Werhli officiating.

Burial will be in the Wetumka Cemetery, under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.

Bassie Beatrice Solomon
Former Shawnee resident Bassie Beatrice Solomon died May 19 in Orting, Wash.

She married Lloyd C. Solomon on Nov. 13, 1948, in Norman.

She was employed at Colonial Estates Nursing Home until her retirement and was a member of Philadelphia Church of God since 1962. She resided in Shawnee until moving to Washington in September 2002.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloid Solomon; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald E. and Betty Poff; four brothers, Willie, Fate, Thomas and Alvin Smith; four sisters, Revil Irene Owens, Onnie Mae Ritchie, Cammie Lee Engler and Neva Nadine Smith.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Garry Lloyd and Cathy Solomon of Linden, N.C., Eric Duane and Patti Solomon of Shawnee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charmaine and Don Worley of Orting, Wash., and Paula Gibson of Shawnee; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park of Shawnee, with pastor Wayne Turgen of the Philadelphia Church of God officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Carl A. Dauman
Carl A. Dauman of Shawnee died Thursday, Sept. 18, at Shawnee Care Center at the age of 88.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Gaskill Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating. Burial is at Tecumseh Cemetery.

He was born March 20, 1915, in Orlando, Okla., to Henry and Hattie (Paul) Dauman. He married Goldia Goforth.

Dauman served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 21, 1944, to March 2, 1946.

He was an electrician for Kerr-McGee Corp. for 32 years before his retirement. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and an RSVP volunteer.

Dauman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Goldia; two sisters, Irene Porter and Adeliene Dauman, and two brothers, Paul Dauman and Ernst Dauman.

He is survived by one son, Jim Dauman of Shawnee; two grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, David Dauman and Doug and Michelle Dauman; four great-granddaughters, Danielle, Destiny, Dailyn and Devanie Dauman, and one great-grandson, Derick Dauman.

Mabel Pauline Moore Bailey
Tecumseh resident Mabel Pauline Moore Bailey, 77, died Friday in Shawnee after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Coachella, Calif., to James and Pearl Moore. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Ceil D. Wilmeth, in Porterville, Calif.

Survivors include her daughter, Lavinia Bresnan of Santa Rosa, Calif.; sons, Charlie Bailey of Green Forest, Ark., Floyd Bailey of Beaumont, Texas, and David Bailey of Shawnee; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews and several longtime friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Burial will be at Tribbey Cemetery.

Lloyd Ford Jr.
Shawnee resident Lloyd Ford Jr., 93, died Monday at his home.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery. Further announcements will be made by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Johnie R. Scheidt
McLoud resident Johnie Scheidt, 69, died Tuesday at a McLoud nursing home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1932, in McLoud to John and Ola Scheidt. He attended Kickapoo school through the eighth grade and graduated from McLoud High School. He worked in petroleum oil exploration and worked for the city of McLoud following retirement.

He married Doris Williams Feb. 12, 1955, in Guthrie. He also served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was in the 45th Infantry Division and a member of McLoud Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Scheidt of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, John Bryan and Toni Scheidt of Tecumseh; three granddaughters, Courtney Mason and husband Randall of McLoud and their children, Chandler and Mariah Mason; Jamie Scheidt and Mallory Scheidt, both of Tecumseh; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosa Barnett and Opal Wright, both of McLoud, and Gracie and Ed Brzozowski of Harrah; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Doris Scheidt of Rancho Cucomanga, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Jake Lempges of McLoud; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Joan Beatrice Lowe
Joan Beatrice Lowe, 74, of Seminole died Tuesday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Murphy of Shawnee; two sisters, Wanda Bounds of Konawa and Eleanor Waterman of Shawnee; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hitchitee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Floch and Fred Lowe. Burial will follow at Hitchitee Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ruth Henderson
Tecumseh resident Ruth Henderson, 75, died Friday in Oklahoma City.

She was born, Aug. 16, 1927, in Bennetsville, S.C., to Douglas and Mary Catherine (Godfrey) Jones. Born and raised in South Carolina, she moved to Oklahoma after she married Chester "Chet" Henderson on Nov. 1, 1944, in Bennetsville, S.C. She had lived in Tecumseh since 1981.

Henderson was a homemaker and a member of South Rock Creek Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Chester "Chet" Henderson of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Catherine Gillock of Mustang, Barbara and Ed Brezny of Tecumseh and Jo and Gene Burns of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doby Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Bennie Beth Huff
Shawnee resident Bennie Beth Huff, 74, died May 25 at a local hospital.

She was born Dec. 20, 1928, in Erick to Ben and Mae (Pennington) White. She attended school in Erick and was a homemaker.

She married Earl M. Huff on Nov. 3, 1965.

Huff was preceded in death by her parents and a son.

Survivors include husband, Earl M. Huff of the home; seven sons, Tommy Douglas and Kathy Beats Jr. of Vinita, Tommy and Elaine Huff of Olathe, Kan., Steve and Barbara Beats of Eagan, Minn., Dennis Earl and Leora Huff of Abilene, Texas, Dwight and Nancy Beats of Olathe, Kan., Richard Beats of Beaver and Tony and Sandy Beats of Oklahoma City; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Rutherford and Glenda Laughlin of California, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Private services were held at Walker Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

JA Wilson
Tecumseh resident JA Wilson, 81, died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born, Feb. 16, 1922, in Waco, Okla., to James Austin Wilson and Opal (Whitten) Wilson Ross.

He married Edith Ragsdale Nov. 7, 1952, in Meeker.

Wilson retired from Tinker Air Force Base and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Loyd Wilson, Walter Ross and Jack W. Ross; and two sisters, Helen Mathews and Lizzie Slimp.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Wilson of the home; two sisters, Francis Holfeld of Midwest City and Avis Paxson of Tecumseh; a brother, Bill Ross of Pittsburg, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Bonnie Louise Booker
Bonnie Louise Booker, 52, Midwest City, died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.

Robert Foch Thornton
Robert Foch Thornton, 83, of Shawnee died Saturday at a local nursing home.

He was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Bartlesville, the son of William Livingston and Fairy Ann (Hoskins) Thornton.

He grew up in Bartlesville, attending school there. He graduated from Tecumseh High School. He worked for Halliburton Oil Company for several years. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a supervisor of air freight on April 28, 1976. He had worked at Tinker since June 1952 and retired with 25 years of service.

He married Virginia Mae Carroll in Ft. Smith, Ark., on April 11, 1947. Following her death, he later married Eileen Lawrence.

He served in the U.S. Army Infantry, retiring in 1944 at the rank of first lieutenant. He was a member of the American Legion and Trinity Baptist Church in Shawnee. He lived in the Shawnee-Tecumseh area for about 65 years.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Eileen Lawrence Thornton; two brothers, William "Bill" Thornton and Conlin "Kenneth" Thornton; and a grandson, Charles Boston.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Bobbye Jo and Glen Mason of Shawnee and Susan Carroll Thornton of Shawnee; a sister, Mary Goodman of Shawnee; a brother, Anthony Thornton of Prague; a sister-in-law, Becky Lafferty of St. Ansgar, Iowa; six grandchildren, Harry Robert James, Rebecca Carico, Virginia Roberson, John Mason and James Mason; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Mason officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

The family has designated Golden Rule Nursing Home, 38801 Hardesty Road, Shawnee, OK 74801, as appropriate for memorial contributions.
