Rose Mary Cuellar
Rose Mary Cuellar, 66, of Shawnee died Monday at a local hospital.

She was born June 9, 1936, in Okmulgee, to James Lunney and Mary (Green) Lunney.

She grew up in Okmulgee, where she attended St. Anthony Catholic School.

She was a homemaker. She also worked as a volunteer at St. Benedict School for several years. Later in life, she worked in the maintenance department at St. Gregory's University for nine years.

She married Lloyd Cuellar in Okmulgee Sept. 3, 1956.

She was a longtime member of St. Benedict' Church, where she also was a member of the altar society.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a son, Chuck Cuellar; three sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Cuellar of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Becky and Lloyd Cuellar Jr. of Newcastle, Jay and Laura Cuellar of Fort Smith, Ark., and Robbie and Sulyne Cuellar of Shawnee; two daughters and a son-in law, Margie Wren of Shawnee and Howie and Larry Blocker of Prague; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Nancy Lunney, of McLoud; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Catherine Banks of Maine, Margaret Service of Lamont, Liz and Burl Calsing of Ada and Mary and Chuck Gautier of Galveston, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Jan Lunney of Okmulgee and Patty Sue Broyles of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 34 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., and the Rev. Pat McCool, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2860, North Canton, Ohio, 44720.

S.A. Woodrum Jr.
S.A. "Woody" Woodrum, Jr., 71, of Shawnee died Monday in his home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Ashland, Ky., to Red and Jennie Woodrum.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years. He was a city planner at Lakewood, Colo., and moved to Shawnee in 1978, where he served as city inspector for eight years. He later worked as a purchasing agent for Oklahoma Baptist University.

He married Beverly Smith, who preceded him in death in 1991. He married Nancy Lenox Sept. 20, 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Woodrum of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Don Kuhns of Joplin, Mo; a son, Roc Woodrum of South Euclid, Ohio; three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Jyme McMunn and Dennis Cornelius of Del City, Jenny and Fred Statton of Meeker and Jo and Mike Walker of Meeker; two sisters, Mona Dwinell of Denver, Colo., and Joanne Carter of Bull Head, Ariz.; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.

Rachel Marie Schofield
Rachel Marie Schofield, 88, of Chandler died Monday in Oklahoma City.

She was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Chandler, the daughter of John and Emaline (Blankenship) Saulsberry.

Schofield married Tommie Schofield on April 16, 1937. She retired from the Chandler school system after more than 30 years of service. She was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Bible Missionary Church, where she served in many positions.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1953; two sons; a daughter; and four brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Robert Wonn, Ronnie Schofield and Robyn Ready, all of Chandler, and Rustin Wonn of Oklahoma City; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

A service will be 10 a.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Service chapel in Chandler, with the Rev. Tim Ruck and Bro. Robert Wonn officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Garland C. Bradley
Garland C. Bradley, 74, of Stroud died Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; son, Garland Douglas Bradley; stepson, Phillip Keating Poteet, Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters and spouses, Kathy Lynn and Robert Walker, Stroud, and Jean LaDon and Troy Avey, Mustang; sisters and brother-in-law; Aliene and Jim Dillard, Floral, Ark., and Frances Hall, Batesville, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Stroud Cemetery. Military Graveside rites will be presented by the American Legion, Post No. 257 of Stroud. Services are under the direction of Parks Funeral Service in Stroud.

J.P. Bennett
J.P. Bennett, 72, of Harrah died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born June 8, 1931, in Seminole to Levi Cody Bennett and Mamie (Chaffin) Bennett. He was a graduate of Prairie Valley High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was stationed in Korea.

He married Phyllis (Ring) on Jan. 23, 1954, in Seminole.

He had worked as a welder and retired from Tinker Air Force Base in the maintenance area in 1994. He attended First Baptist Church of Harrah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Bennett; and sisters, Lois Motte and Clara Presley.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Bennett of the home; daughter, Renee Bennett of Harrah; son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Janice Bennett of Dunedin, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Maxine Bennett of Wynnewood and Dean and Wynonia Bennett of Seminole; sisters and a brother-in-law, Willa Mae Cox of Coalinga, Calif., and Betty and Vernon Romberg of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Betty Bennett of Seminole; brother-in-law, Vince Motte of Coalinga, Calif.; grandchildren, Sara Bennett and Jessica Bennett, and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Slack officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.

Andrew Rivas Columbus
Shawnee resident Andrew Rivas "Tito" Columbus, 62, died Monday in Shawnee.

He was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Seminole to Henry and Juanita (Rivas) Columbus. He was reared in Seminole and attended school in Shawnee and lived most of his adult life in Shawnee.

He married Wynona Ramsey on Aug. 15, 1980, in Tishomingo. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2002.

He served in the Army National Guard for eight years. He worked as an animal control officer for the city of Shawnee for 22 years, until his retirement in 1986.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Margarita Columbus, and sister, Ruth Vasquez.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Andrew Columbus Jr. of Shawnee; Michael and Kerry Columbus of Shawnee; a daughter, Sheila Columbus of Shawnee; six grandchildren, Nikki, Brian, Steven, John Michael, Micah and Myah Columbus; three brothers, Henry Columbus of Oklahoma city; Clarence Columbus of Mustang; Richard Columbus of Oklahoma City, and one sister, Gloria Taylor of Eufala.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh with the Rev. Larry Goins and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

June Virginia Shurden
Shawnee resident June Virginia Shurden died Tuesday at the age of 88.

She was born June 22, 1915, in Lequire to Marguarite and Robert Gannaway. She married Frank A. Shurden at Wetumka on Jan. 1, 1938.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Patric and Donna Shurden of Norman; Robert Shurden and wife Melanie Shurden of Wichita, Kan.; three grandsons, Sean Shurden of Tulsa; Bobby Shurden of Wichita, Kan.; Ted Shurden of Wichita, Kan., and other relatives.

Viewing will be at Shurden Funeral Home in Henryetta until 4 p.m. Wednesday, and at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home in Shawnee until Friday morning.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Art Scrutchins officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee, under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home in Henryetta.

Velma Pearl Kessinger
Velma Pearl Kessinger, 84, of Earlsboro died Monday in Shawnee.

She was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Bridgefield, Ark., to Calvin Delanor and Della (Sykes) Green. She attended school at Whitesboro.

She married Jewell Kessinger on Feb. 17, 1944, in Skagg City. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1992.

She worked for Macklanburg-Duncan for 20 years, retiring in 1982 and spent most of her adult life in the Shawnee and Tecumseh area.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Arlyn Patterson of Shawnee; Carolyn Kay and Don Wilson of Red Oak, Texas; son and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sylita Kessinger of Blanchard; son, Charles Kessinger of Seminole; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Delbert D. Templeton Sr.
Delbert D. Templeton Sr., 78, of Shawnee died Monday at Colonial Estates Nursing Home.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Delbert Jr. and Betty Templeton of Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Harold Daniel of Newalla, Patricia and Joe Oliphant of Macomb and Sharour and Jacob Big Soldier of Dover; brother, Melvin Templeton of Oklahoma City; sisters, Dorothy Sorrel of Houston, Imogene Miller of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bonnie Hoffman of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee with the Rev. Terry Jackson and the Rev. Robert McDoulett officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnylane Cemetery in Del City.

Preston R. Nixson
Shawnee resident Preston Nixson, 66, died Tuesday at a local hospital. Arrangements are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Betty Lou Templeton
Tecumseh resident Betty Lou Templeton, 63, died Monday in Shawnee.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Pence officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery. Other information is pending with Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Warren O. Johnson
Chandler resident Warren Johnson, 85, died Monday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Christina Johnson of the home; a sister, Alene Sutherland, Pennsylvania; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Ann Johnson, Chandler; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Kent Peelman, Cushing; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God of Chandler with the Rev. Doyle Seeley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Lee Allen Henderson
Chandler resident Lee Allen Henderson, 69, died June 18.

He was born July 2, 1932, in Sparks to Robert Lee and Myrtle (Decker) Henderson.

He married Aileen Earp June 12, 1954, in Chandler.

He retired from the Oklahoma Air National Guard with the rank of Colonel. He was the commander of the 1st Battalion, 160 Field Artillery and served on active duty as the National Guard liaison at the Field Artillery Training Center of Fort Sill, Okla. He also served as the chief of the reserve component with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.

His career as an educator included serving as principal and coach for Chandler and Wellston schools. He was a founding member of the Oklahoma Girls' Coaches Hall of Fame. The Hendersons lived on a ranch near Chandler after his retirement.

His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Aileen Henderson of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark and Danica Henderson, Elk City; a daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Andy Weingarten, Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Geneva Wallis, Mulvane, Kan.; mother, Myrtle Henderson, Mulvane; three grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church, Chandler, with the Rev. Janie Kirt Morris officiating. Interment followed at Oak Park Cemetery of Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Lincoln County Historical Society, 719 Manvel, Chandler.

Doris M. Tate
Shawnee resident Doris Tate, 84, died Monday in Shawnee.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Raymond McPherson
Shawnee-born Raymond McPherson, 73, of Tahlequah died Sunday in Tecumseh.

He is survived by two nieces and two nephews.

Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at Resthaven Memorial Park. Services were under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
