Lawrence N. Myers, 85, of Shawnee died Friday at his home.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Pence officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Further announcements are pending with Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Fredda Morse
Fredda Morse, 95, of Harrah died Friday.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Memory Lane Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah.

Bertha Rogers
Bertha Rogers of Shawnee died Friday at a local hospital. She was 66.

Arrangements will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Buddy Hyatt
Tecumseh resident Buddy Hyatt, 80, died Friday in Tecumseh.

He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Dewey Dewitt and Fannie Belle (Bobo) Hyatt.

He lived in Oklahoma City most of his life and had lived in Pink since 1985.

On Nov. 29, 1956, he married June Hyatt in Mexico. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2003.

He worked as a self-employed concrete finisher.

He was a member of the Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Dalton Amos Hyatt Jr.; a great-granddaughter; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, James and Virginia Hyatt of Doddridge, Ark., and Troy and Michelle Hyatt of Harrah; seven daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Roger Messier of Texarkana, Texas, Debbie and Ron McMaster of Garfield, Ark., Shirley and Michael Taylor of Oklahoma City, Mozell Phillips of Oklahoma City, Karen Knowles of Ashdown, Ark., Alice and Calvin Seals of Oklahoma City and Barbara Laffoon of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Geneva Page of Washington and Leovice Ware of Kilgore, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Edward Wright officiating.

Service is under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Wayne Owens
Wayne Owens, 76, Shawnee, died Saturday at his home. Arrangements will be announced by Walker Funeral Service.

Earl W. McCray
Davenport resident Earl W. McCray, 66, died Friday in Davenport. Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

Calvin Lafayette Grace
Calvin Lafayette Grace died Saturday at a Seminole nursing home. He was 98.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah Grace, of the home; brother, Paul Grace of Tulsa; sister, Velma Dunning of Seminole, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Johnnie B. Offill
Former Shawnee resident Johnnie B. Offill, 87, died Friday at a Oklahoma City retirement center.

Surviving are her husband, Otis A. Offill, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip W. and Joann Offill, Camarillo, Calif., and Donald O. and Orma Offill, Lenexa, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Darrell Davis, Houston; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Catherine Crysler, El Paso, Texas.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Scrutchins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Mary Pearl Whittall
Mary Pearl Whittall of Shawnee died Thursday at the age of 91.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Tecumseh with the Rev. Dr. Tim Walker and the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

She was born Feb. 19, 1911, in Pottawatomie County to John and Naomi (Herren) Allen. She attended grade school at West Valley View and high school at Tecumseh High School, graduating in 1928. She later graduated with a bachelor of arts in education from East Central State College. She was a Pottawatomie County resident most of her life, spending a short time in Pauls Valley and San Diego, Calif.

On Dec. 23, 1933, she married Lloyd Whittall in Shawnee. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1996. She taught school at North View, Saint Louis and Tecumseh Public Schools for more than 30 years, retiring in 1973. While teaching, she sponsored many activities, including the Pep Squad.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association, and past member of the Kickapoo Campers Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Loretta Franklin.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd C. Whittall Jr. and Patricia Jarvis Whittall of Littleton, Colo.; two grandsons, Lloyd C. "Colt" Whittall III and wife Amy of Atlanta, Ga., and Jeffrey Jarvis Whittall, M.D., and his fiancee Catrina Funk, M.D., of Georgetown, Ohio; great-grandson Lloyd C. "Whit" Whittall IV of Atlanta, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Charles King of Tecumseh; sisters-in-law, Helen Whittall of Tecumseh, Hazel Whittall of Norwalk, Calif., and Ruth Whittall of Visalia, Calif., and many other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825, N.E. 13th Street, Oklahoma City OK 73104.

Erven Caskey
Erven Caskey, 74, of Tecumseh died Thursday at a local hospital.

He was born May 9, 1928, in Wanette to Joseph Robert Caskey and Jewell (Curnutt) Caskey. He grew up in Wanette and attended Lone Oak School.

Caskey was a farmer and rancher in Texas from 1950 to 1980. He later worked for the Green Thumb Center and the Tecumseh Housing Authority for about five years before retiring in 1997.

He married Faye Parker in 1957; she died in 1987. On Oct. 25, 1997, he married Mellie Geneva Wood in Shawnee.

Caskey was a member of The Open Door Church of God in Shawnee.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva Caskey; a daughter, Nadine Chronister; and five brothers, Harold Caskey, Elmo Caskey, Winford Caskey, Ivan Caskey and Joe Caskey.

Surviving relatives include a son-in-law, David Chronister of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Valerie Chronister of Mexico, Kim Chronister and Kathy Chronister, both of Colorado; sisters and brothers-in-law, Iduma Nelson of Sand Springs, Irene and Don Callen of Stratford, Darlene and Tony Smith of Tecumseh and Sandra and J.T. Knight of Durant; a brother, Otis Caskey of Wanette; three stepchildren, Janice and Dick Hinesley of Tecumseh, Jackie and Paul Vanderburg of Carrollton, Texas, and Reginald Wood of Shawnee; six stepgrandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Keeling officiating. Burial will be in Box Cemetery, west of Wanette.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Open Door Church of God, 1200 N. Tucker in Shawnee.

Dorothea Marie Jung Hammarsten
Dorothea Marie "Dee" Jung Hammarsten, 83, of Melrose and Grey Eagle, Minn., died Dec. 21 at an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born March 10, 1919, in Wadena, Minn., to Dr. William R. and Bertha (Fabian) Jung. She was valedictorian of the 1937 Wadena High School graduating class. In 1943, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of science degree in medicine.

She was a research technician at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. She identified copper poisoning as a cause of death in people on chronic dialysis, which led to a change in dialysis procedures worldwide. In her work with Dr. John Schilling, she helped establish the role of zinc in wound healing.

Hammarsten was a member of the Grey Eagle, Minn., T.O.P.S. Club and the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church. For many years, she was treasurer for the Grey Eagle United Methodist Women. She also was an artist and a church organist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marian; two brothers, Harper and William; an infant son; and a son-in-law, Harry Ingold.

Surviving relatives include her husband of 58 years, James Francis Hammarsten, M.D., of Melrose and Grey Eagle, Minn.; a daughter, Linnea Louise Ingold of Shawnee; two sons, James Eric Hammarsten, M.D., and wife Beth of Tulsa, and Richard Anders Hammarsten and wife Catherine of Oklahoma City; a sister, Patricia Gilmer and husband Russ of Waverly, Minn; a brother, Dr. Frank Jung and wife Carol of Mentor, Minn; sisters-in-law, Judy Jarsko of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Lorraine Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren, Kristi, Jacki, Kirk, Eric, Britt and Carl; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Big Birch Lake, in Grey Eagle, Minn., in July or August. Arrangements are under the direction of Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, Minn.

Kenny Simmons
Kenny Simmons, 14, of Davenport died Saturday at his home.

Survivors include his parents, John and Pamela Simmons, of the home; sisters, Tiffany DuPont of Midwest City and Tonia Simmons of Davenport; and grandparents, Margaret and Bill Mann and Kenneth and Thelma Melson, all of Davenport.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Davenport with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Davenport Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Woodrow Tilman Chitsey
Prague resident Woodrow Tilman Chitsey died Friday in Tulsa at the age of 87.

He was born July 15, 1915, in Texas to Earl and Mattie (Gomillion) Chitsey.

He married Montie Curry on Feb. 15, 1942, at Roswell, N.M. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2000.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served 22 years before retiring. After retirement, he worked in an oil field.

He moved to Prague from the Choctaw area in 1995.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Aubrey and Linda Chitsey of Midwest City and Rodney and Luanna Chitsey, Prague; sister, Irene Soules of Oregon; five grandchildren, Sherri Towery of Joplin, Mo., Leslie Akerboom of Lageraar, Netherlands, Troy Chitsey of Edmond, Steven Chitsey of Midwest City and Greg Chitsey of Oklahoma City; and great-grandsons, Seth Towery and Bryant Chitsey.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Mark Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.

Kerri Frances Schweizerhof
Kerri Frances Schweizerhof, 65, of Shawnee died Thursday at a local nursing home.

She was born March 11, 1938, in Shawnee to William A. Schweizerhof and Nina (Parker).

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1956.

She started her insurance career at the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance Company. She worked for various companies in Oklahoma and Texas during her more than 40-year career. She was a Certified Professional Insurance Woman and Certified Professional Insurance Underwriter and a member of the National Association of Insurance Women and Insurance Women of Oklahoma City, which she served in various capacities, including chairwoman of many committees on the state, regional and national level. She also served two terms as the president of NAIW of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and a brother, Jeffrey P. Schweizerhof.

Survivors include brothers and a daughter-in-law, Jim Schweizerhof of Houston and Jerry and Reba Schweizerhof of Norman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kirby and Dave Griner of Shawnee, Dorothy and Charles Phillips of Shawnee, Karen and Ron Cox of Oklahoma City and Mary and Pat Hathcock of Shawnee; a sister-in-law, Vaughnda Mooreman of Burk-Bennett, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park Trinity Chapel with Ray Griffin officiating.

The family has designated NAIW Education Foundation, 5310 E. 31st St., Suite 302, Tulsa, OK 74135, as appropriate for memorial contributions. Service is under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Edna M. Geisler
Edna M. Geisler, 90, of Shawnee died Saturday at a local nursing home.

She was born Nov. 19, 1912, in Wellston to John Seebeck and Olga (Callies) Seebeck.

She worked for Harp's Valley for a number of years and she worked as a janitor for Wilson School.

She married Henry Geisler on Dec. 11, 1930, in Wellston.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bob Nolen and Mae Potts and Gene Linn; former son-in-law, Wes Potts; grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Karen Nolen of Shawnee, Leslie and Dee King of Shawnee, Angie and Jeff Harris of Oklahoma City and Marjeana Nolen of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and five great-grandchidlren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karen Fowler-Lindemulder officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or to Good Shepherd Hospice of Oklahoma City.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.
